- Dell makes a fine gaming PC, especially with the latest Alienware Aurora line. Coming from a custom PC, I was pleasantly suprised with my experience with the R11 as a whole. however there are some issues that us Aurora owners face. The stock case cooling, VRM, bloatware, and Wifi issues are a few, and I will go over the ways to fix these issues so you can get back to gaming, crypto mining, video editing, CAD, or whatever you do with your Alienware rig.

Other hint: You can add a GPU of 287 mm of length, you only have to re allocate the front fan into the HD drive slot.
Can i ask a question has anyone figured out a permanent fix for the R10 bluetooth mess in windows 11 stupid adapter works for 2 seconds trys to access a illegal memory address that the system uses to control your keyboard and mouse by usb and then disables itself
Found the solution remove the bad Qualcomm card replacement is a USB dongle Bluetooth and a pci express wireless card works great
Against my better judgement I bought my R11 from the local Micro Center and right away I found your videos. Thanks for the content, you've helped me and I'm sure many others on the road to making the Aurora better than stock. I swapped out all the fans and added +1 and I'm about to do the thermal pads and paste mod thanks to your videos. Thanks Kevin!

You installed the H60 and got display? It doesn’t display for me turns on no error codes
I installed three 120mm and one 92mm Noctua fans into my R10 and it is a night and day difference. Running at full performance is now quieter than it was before when running at quiet... I was questioning my purchase before, but now I love it!
i just bought a r10 im gonna upgrade my fans and do the push pull with 3 but where did you put your 4th fan? and did you have problems with your noctua fans?
@@kmills6476 I removed the extra HDD I bought with it that Dell puts in the top front of the case like he did except I reused the HDD cage which has mounting holes for a 92mm fan. The Noctua NF-A9 PWM fit perfectly there and came with a splitter cable to connect it to the bottom front 120mm Noctua I installed. So far no issue what so ever and AWCC even detects the fan speeds still.

@@kmills6476 I would :). Just an FYI you will need eight #6 - 1 1/4" machine screws to attach the fans to the top and bottom of the AIO radiator. Of all the videos I watched only one mentioned what kind of screws you would need and none mentioned how many... Good luck!

why is my pc reving the fans super hard for like 5 seconds then calming back down
For anyone else that's been having issues with Bluetooth consistently dropping connection like I was, I had to take out the bluetooth card and put it back in. That mostly solved the problem. If it drops connection again, just shutdown, unplug power cable, and hold the power button for a few seconds before plugging it back in. These are the solutions that worked for me.
I just removed the card and replaced the bluetooth adapter with a bluetooth 5.1 adapter from amazon nice usb adapter for 16.00 and no issues with speed or connectivity

I love the computer but there is a problem I have encountered, and I would like to hear your input.
The problem I encountered is when the computer goes into “SLEEP MODE”. For some reason, my system DOES NOT stay off while it is in “sleep mode”. In the contrary, it keeps turning on/off continually. I also notice when the computer goes into “sleep mode” all the lights in the system go off except the video card. For some reason, it stays on (even during sleep mode). Is this normal? Have you encountered this problem before? Thank you for any information you can provide.

@@shadowcodestv my r10 can't even run Minecraft smooth, it takes 10 minutes to start up and takes 2 minutes to open Google or anything, And it constantly says that the apps aren't responding

Literally left my case open and my temps dropped 10 degrees. Cracking open the swivel that holds the psu helped an additional 5 degrees on the cpu
Clean professional video. Little help please, can't get a straight answer from dell. Representative just quoted from the r10 web page. Swapped out 5950x for 5600 G. No post post diag lights flash 2-1 which should be motherboard error. Tried cmos reset, any advice. Thanks in advanced.

Adding a hint: Disable Windows Fast Startup, this will fix the issue when sometimes when booting the system takes longer time.

My R11 always has issue with sound, I can simply clean my computer and turn it back on suddenly the sound isn't working, I always have to panic and fix some things and it works again. Always freaks me out

When I boot my Alienware Aurora Ryzen R12 I get 2 amber light blinks, then it pauses for a second , then it blinks amber a 3rd time before booting normally.
Anybody know what that means? I looked at diagnostic lights online but I don't understand how to differentiate the different light codes.

I've swiched cpus on the alienware motherboard (i5 and i7) and the bios gets pissed off at me =( wont boot up. you can swap things around more when you use a different motherboard.

I've got an aurora r12 that had had micro stutters since new. Also, after a factory data reset, I am unable to update any drivers Inc bios update. $3,200.00 paperweight.
Hi great video I plan on doing all of these great mods. Do you know a fix for the bluetooth connection being lost while using a bluetooth mouse on the R10? If I have a wired usb mouse plugged in to the R10 the bluetooth connection is stable. Thanks in advance for your help.
I tried 4 x 16gb of ram in the aurora r12 (kingston fury beast 3200mghz 1.35v) and it stays on infinite reboot without the possibility to go to bios. It works with 2 of the four sticks but not 3 or 4. Any ideas on how to fix?

Thank you so much for your videos. I am now a sub. I just ordered today the a12 with 11900f and 3080 32gb ram and 1tbssd. I am going to check everything thing try your thermal paste method. This will be for gaming and regular office tasks. This will be paired to the aw2721d monitor hoping it should be a blast. I had an order for the x17 with 3080 and 11800h so hopefully I will not regret this choice.

@@myspace8399 im loving the desktop however i went with a larger monitor. I got the aorus fv43 and 4k 144hz qled monitor. This paired with my 3080 and ps5 has been fantastic. The conouter runs all titles in 4k with no problems pushing over 90-144hz on all titles i play. The comfort of having a warranty and dells customer sevice has been amazing. The pc didnt have to have a thermal or fan replace and Temps stay good.

What cpu/gpu did you get, i can also list a few really nice 1440p monitors which will look crispy at 27/32 inches. Yeah the monitorwas around 899 but its also 43 inches qled and 4k 144hz with built in speakers. I was saving for awhile fornthat one. If you happen to be a veteran if you call dell and order through them they have extreme discounts. Not including the montior i think i paid around 2600 for my set up.
@@kaiichinose9590 I appreciate that bro. I ordered mine with an I9 11900F , 16GB 3200 MHz ram, 1TB NVMe ssd and the beast RTX 3080 (LHR though). I called today asking for a student discount but they said I had already applied coupons that brought the price down 400 dollars on top of the presidents day sale (total price after was $2466 w/taxes). I plan on picking up a decent monitor in the $250-$350 range. Though I wish I could ball out and get a high end 4K one like you did 😂. My PC is supposedly coming in on March 31st which seems a bit long. How long did it take for yours to come in?

The socket is actually power limited lower than the stock levels 76 vs 88watts.
I just completed a case and MB swap. I went with a Distrocase (bad move). Came out great for a first build.

If I bought one of these as im interested in the r10 or r12 with a 3090, should I go with the i7 11700kf or 5800x for cpu and I was also wondering what Ram Is compatible with these alienware pc's? I notice that they are sensitive to certain rams with getting 3200mhz to 3400 speeds from users who tried to upgrade. So I was wondering if you could let me know what a good ram kit is to buy for the alienware.
buying an alienware 3090 and changing the memory for aftermarket ram will only get you 5-10 extra fps. Not worth the money wasted. Get another PCIE card +NVME SSD. or wait till next year and get the DDR5 + new intel i12
I went with 2x R10's.. one with a 3090 and one with a 3080. I like the 3080 better, as the 3090 hits 96C VRAM temps even with thermal paste and pad swap, switching to a completely different airflow case, and Noctua 120 + 140 industrial fans... Yes, the iPPC fans. Okay, enough about that... for RAM, I got a 2x16GB HyperX Fury kit for $180 after tax. Probably overkill, but you really have to get specific HyperX Fury PC4-25600 RAM, so I didn't chance it and got ones from eBay that someone pulled from other Alienware PCs.
If you go with the R10/R12 stock 8GB of RAM, you can just pick up another 8GB HyperX Fury stick for like $50. I was going to use the stock 8GB in a different system, so I bought that 2x16GB kit, but I think dual channel 2x8GB is enough for almost all gaming.
I have a corsair Top fan in my brand new R12 and it fails the boot up test. Should I disable secure boot or what? Also yes mine was very dirty as well
I got an r10 yesterday and the boot time is more than 5 minutes, if it boots at all. Then I get around a minute with Windows functioning before the screen flickers and the desktop apps disappear and after that I can try to open programs but they don't open. Then I have to restart the system and wait another 5 to 10 minutes. Not sure how TF they get away with selling pcs like that. This even happens after I updated everything and even reinstalled Windows

TLDR: I move the hard drive to put a fan don’t need ssd.
I found a solution for the place to put a hard drive when you want to add a second fan in its place. I unscrewed the two screws holding the metal tray for the hard drive and swapped it with the right side ssd tray. There’s a small black plastic bracket at the bottom which blocks the tray from being inserted so I just used a string to pull the bracket up and was able to set the tray in that place. I am on a tight budget so I couldn’t afford a new ssd. I have a plan to eventually replace the hard drive with an ssd but for now that solved my problem.

I need help I just picked up an R12 with 3070, i7 11th, 16 gb ram, 256 gb + 1tb drive and I am getting 85 - 115 fps in 1080p low quality. What do I need to do here? Because I just came from an Xbox series S and was getting better consistant fps and smooth gameplay in 1440p with VRR than this computer and it was only $299 so I need to change something up lmao 🤣 RAM? Memory? Extra fan? Power supply? Tried auto overclocking in GeForce Experience and in alienware center nothing change
@@shaneflanagan70 hmmm what game are you playing some games aren’t using the card because the drivers aren’t really there yet, warzone being the main game that doesn’t have a 3000 series driver which results in low frames
Yeah that is the game, but true I didn't know that. I will look further into into that.. I need to learn more. but man my brother is getting 160-200 fps with his cyberpower build 3070. I'm not expecting what he has because of the rest of his specs but did expect to not be under 100 lol
My R11 had a bad Slot 4 PCIe. Under warranty, the motherboard was replaced. Unfortunately, the replacement motherboard had the same issue with Slot 4 PCIe not working. Any R11 owners have something similar happen?

Dont use Noctua. Use Corsair ML 120 Pro. Had Boot issues with Noctua.

I have no power. The fans and lights turn on when I use the test button on the power supply.
I tested out new ram. No fix.
Tested new power supply. No fix. Tested new graphics card. No fix.
All that’s left is to try a new processor “cpu”
I’ll keep y’all updated if it works. I’ll be installing the new cpu next week.

When ever I get on certain games my fan speed slows down from 75% to 34-35% I tried tuning to speed and it doesn't do anything it works perfectly fine with other games
you have to actually 'apply' the profile you're changing in the main page: you save the fan settings, go to main ACC page and change your Thermal profile to whatever you have changed. I usually just create a new profile in each category and then switch to them. Also a smart move would be to actually change from your fixed speed to the curve with the temps - that way you won't be changing speed every time - it will adjust according to the desktop's temp. Hope it fixes your problem :)
My aurora R12 has been having internet issues. So I did some research and found a software pre installed program taking up 4.5 out of 8 gigs. So I uninstalled it but still had problems with speed. I also have Ethernet. Please help!
So my r12 isnt turning on and has been crashing randomly for no apparent reason, for example I would be idle on the pc and the screen would stop displaying the pc, or just freeze, the keyboard lighting would freeze, and the mouse seems unresponsive. So I openned it up and I cant find the voltage things, are they in a different area that they are in for r12, but I dont see any, how would I fix this?

if you didn't get the AIO for the processor its gonna be bad.... real bad. With the air cooler it doesn't even come with the VRM heatsinks.

I have 32gb of ram and a beefy r10 with a ryzen 7 and 3070ti, I have 2gb of storage and only 4 games downloaded. But it takes it 30 minutes to load up a game and even boot up.
I'd suggest to reset whole computer to factory (or even better use Dell's recovery image to flash it to any USB and re-install your windows completely)...that's what I did and it helped. I used to have similar issue like yours. wait...2gb of storage?! perhaps Tb? because 2gb is EXTREMELY LOW for a system to run properly

I finally got a new aftermarket GPU for my Aurora r7 after installation it will not recognize the Gpu or boot to windows unless I go into the bios and disable the secure boot option. Is there a fix, because disabling secure boot also disables the TPM which is needed to upgrade to windows 10.

I'm interested to know why my R11 doesn't have the front panel inset lights.(Like yours does) The only lighting controls on mine are for the power button logo and the perimeter trim around the front control panel. Should I have other lighting or is that a purchase mod that I missed?
So here’s a question, I was seeing cpu temps of 90-100C while gaming. I assumed that I had an air cooler and ordered an H60. Turns out I already had water cooling. I still swapped it to the H60 and I’m still seeing temps way up there at 90-100C. I’m about to do the second intake tan and the push pull on the cpu cooler but these temps are way higher than anyone else has mentioned. I’m at 70C just running discord and 65C just idling. Anyone on here have this issue or am I just screwed?
Try doing custom fan curves in Alienware command center, an set them to about 50% @ 60 degrees (that's what I did, I don't know if is the best but if you put front fan speed higher you will definitely get cooler temps)

AWCC Doesn't Like CPUID HWMonitor!! At least for my R10 Ryzen edition messes with the fusion thermal profiles

I reset and put new battery it worked once even twice now after playing vanguard my pc shut down with same problem but can't get it stsrt this time... that's what everybody gets, when replacing any stock fans...just press Esc every time :)

@@bjslugzbeatz2103 not bad at all. I cleaned up my Windows and got rid of most of the bloatware. Still find it quite loud though (because of the fans). I am leasing it and I can't do all the mods I'd like because of that. I haven't pushed it to the limit (I game at 1440p) but I can say I am absolutely thrilled with how it's been performing so far.

@@sensitivemale The liquid cooling is an absolute MUST, whatever you intend to do with this rig. But I think that the thermal paste mod on the GPU will also be required if you want to dedicate it to mining. I am still carefully considering the pros and cons of swapping the top fan for a push/pull setup, because that would void my warranty for sure.
I got a R10 Ryzen ed. With a Radeon RX 5700 XT and a Ryzen 7 in it, but it was air cooled and my GOD was it unbearably loud. It still ran games good but it was so loud. Got a corsair H60 in there and it's running super quiet now!
can you put any GPU to the R12. like an amd rx570? i see lots of r12 for sale without GPU;s and I have a older

I read that miners leave the side of the case off to help with cooling.
That's an early 2000s move lol before a lot of cooling and smaller processes needing lower Watts to perform etc...
Take the side off and point a desk fan at it lol 😆 theoretically side on should make cool air flow in the right direction through the case... assuming adequate air intake / exhaust.
my r12 stopped booting yesterday after a windows update, now I have to hit F12 everytime I turn it on and manually choose windows boot manager (even though I have disabled all other boot options...)
Updated Fans? Had exactly the Same issue with Noctua aftermarket fans. Just press F12, go to Diagnose, let the Test run and it will Tell you Whats wrong.
Pls I need to know do the rx 6700xt work with r10 PC's?
How do you enable boot to usb? I think it needs to be changed to Legacy Support mode but I cannot seem to get it to work. Thanks.

3080ti will only fit if it is custom GPU from Alienware/Dell...the rest probably will have problems, because those cases are VERY small and have limited space inside...god awful design from the inside :(
"One of the best prebuilt pc's on the market" - they are just built with the worst cooling, the worst ram, and the worst motherboards that will kill all your gaming performance. AKA they have no idea what they are doing.
I wouldn't buy an Alienware pre-build. Hell my first PC build took me 5 hours to put together 🤣😂. That was back in 2017. IF I CAN BUILD A PC ANYONE CAN 😒, don't buy a pre-build... even an Alienware one, unless its for parts....
The problem is if you want a pc right now pre-builds are (in most cases) the only option given the cpu/gpu/Memory market is f****d thanks to COVID/miners.
Times are changing, we are being forced to buy what we can. Especially if you don't have a PC to wait for prices to change this is one of the best options right now

@@geoffroydelmotte1141 I am not sure what Dell's policies are and if will void the warranty or not. There are no tamper seal stickers you have to break to open up the card.

I just bought the r10 off best buy for 1999.99 saving 300 off but it's air cooled. Specs are ryzen 7 5800 16 GB RAM 3060 ti. Am I gonna have to worry about anything...
How has it been so far?
I'm getting the water cooled r10 with the ryzen 9 on Amazon and I am curious how this turned out. It's on the way and I'm just a bit worried because I see a lot of people saying to replace all fans to make it quieter, but others saying the stock fans are actually good at keeping it cool even if they are loud. I wouldn't mind the sound so I might just add additional fans if that would be sufficient.
I love the r7 cases but the newer ones feel and look real cheap
Constantly loses signal and goes to black screen. Apparently tons of people are having this issue. Never would have bought this piece of scrap had I known.
