      That really bothers me how they do that.. especially with Ryzen systems. It can't be adding very much cost to use 2x4GB instead of 1x8GB . Then when you do want to upgrade you have to buy 2 sticks anyway.
      Hopefully at the very least they mention 1 stick in the specs.

      The real reason that 8g sticks are cheaper amd more avaliable than 2*4 kits.
      And 8g is pretty much the minimum config for a functinal gaming prebuilt.
      You either order 16-32, in tzhe case where you are planning to use it for games with the stock config, pr you buy the least expesive RAM option and replace the RAM with a decent kit.

    so i had a version of this laptop that had the Ryzen 7 4800 and the RTX 2060 in it for a while. I noticed the bottleneck too with the built in display. Figured out that the built in display uses the on board graphics built into the Ryzen processor as a kind of scaler. It pushes video through the RTX 2060 then through the Ryzen VEGA video to be displayed on the built in screen. If you use an external monitor through the Type C port, you should get better FPS and a more consistent performance through the GPU as it will no longer go through the VEGA graphics chip.

    When you overclock RAM or even just clock it to it's rating, your system can sometimes have a panic attack. When this happens the system either doesn't boot, post, or even turn on. This happened to me when I thought I had 3600MHz RAM when I really only had 3200MHz. I clocked it to 3600 and my pc bluescreened after I booted it and didn't turn on. So when this happens, CLEAR THE CMOS! There are usually two pins on your motherboard (depending on your manufacturer) that you have to jump with a metal object like a screwdriver in order to reset the CMOS. Usually it says something like BAT, JBAT, or CMOS RESET next to it. Just jump those pins with a screwdriver for about 10 seconds and all your BIOS settings will reset. Then go in and set all your customs again.

    • @photonboy999
      @photonboy999 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sure, but it's a bit ODD that the CMOS was cleared and it defaulted to 3200MHz one time and 2666MHz the other. That's concerning. Having said that, I read something about UEFI being in nvRAM (non-volatile memory) but apparently some things get cleared by CMOS and some things don't. It's very confusing.

    • @goa141no6
      @goa141no6 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well shitty 3600 ram is usually 3200 OC ram, check the voltage and timings on the sticker, try to run it manually at 1.3 volts or up, 1.45 is usually the max safe but you should check just in case.

      But why would the CMOS keep resetting back the settings and prevent you from overclocking?

    • @shamerok377
      @shamerok377 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JeskidoYT You can only overclock your hardware if it supports overclocking and if you have good cooling. Resetting the CMOS resets those overclocked settings in your BIOS back to the rated defaults for your hardware. Therefore, if you overclocked your hardware and your pc crashed and you have no way back into your operating system or your BIOS, resetting the CMOS can fix that. Then just go back into your BIOS and keep experimenting with overclocking your CPU and RAM.

    Hey Dawid, did you adjust the timings for the 3200mhz? The timings for 2666mhz will not work with 3200mhz at the same voltage. To know the correct timings look at the specification on the memory stick. For such a stick this would for example be: PC4 3200/19/19/19/40. The memory will run at lower timings when on 2666mhz, for example C17/17/17/35.

    Coming from an Alienware user for 4 1/2 years... Anything can beat an Alienware. They have some of the most garbage tier gaming systems I have ever seen. Poor build quality, poor gaming performance, poor thermals, and poor upgradability due to their limiting chassis. Thankfully I'm finally upgrading to something more capable in the next few months, but I can safely say I'll never purchase an Alienware product ever again.

    Did David tried to manually change the ram voltage? Shitty 3200 MHz ram usually runs at 1.35 volts but maybe the system doesn't detect it, so it try to boot at 1.2 volts. Some ram will boot and promptly crash, better ram will run at 1.2 no problem, but the bottom of the barrel (OEM Crap) will usually refuse to boot.

    The problem with the low GPU utilisation is that those laptops do not have a mux swich (wich means the gpu routs it signal to the iGPU (wich bottlenecks the performans) to the laptop display)
    to prevent this with ASUS laptops u have to use a usb c dongle at the usb c port and hook up to a external display

  • @denvera1g1

    Part of the reason the 5600H is so much worse than the 5600X is because of the lower TDP, coimbined with the fact that it has 1/2 the cache. If you could get 4400 RAM it would claw back quite a bit of performance, but 4400 would also improve the 5600X

    • @photonboy999
      @photonboy999 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The CACHE is NOT directly comparable. You need more cache on the DESKTOP version to compensate for the fact that the I/O chiplet is seperate from the CCD chiplet (the iGPU shouldn't be using any cache during these tests either). AMD has actually discussed this very issue. The main reason is likely just a lower CPU frequency. Either temperature or power limited as a result of GPU usage?

    • @denvera1g1
      @denvera1g1 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@photonboy999 Clock for clock, the 5800(nonX) is faster than the 5700G. If the cache didnt matter, then ther 5700G should be faster, because i can run the RAM At 4933MT/s, where as the 5800 struggles at 3933 and really prefers 3800

  • @siyzerix

    I think there is a optimus bottleneck in the laptop. Basically, the higher you go, the higher the optimus feature causes a bottleneck. Its caused because the dgpu's frames have to go through the igou in the 5600h which causes bottlenecks. Jarrod's tech shows this.
    To resolve this, you gotta bypass the optimus. There's 2 ways of doing this. Which are either using a mux switch or hooking up the laptop to a external display. So, if you hooked up the laptop to a external monitor, it should resolve the issue. Also, do test more gpu demanding games
    Also, the laptop ryzen 5600h is not a desktop 5600x. Its more of a mobile ryzen 5600g. And would be closer to it in performance. What is also strange is that other laptops with a 5600h and rtx 3050 seem to max out the rtx 3050. Not sure whats asus doing here.
    Also, that asus laptop you picked, is one of the worst laptop values out there. Infact if you picked a $1300 aorus 15p which packs a 130w rtx 3060, i7 11800h AND a 240hz 1080p panel, it would clap the alienware so hard it wouldn't even be funny. That rtx 3060 is basically the same as a desktop 3060. And of course the msi gf65 thin which costs $850 and packs a 3060 75w and i5 10500h. That would also beat the desktop alienware.

    • @b0ne91
      @b0ne91 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suspect some wonky Asus software setting for CPU power. It's probably power limited and you have to unlock it in software. Could even be as simple as the Windows power plan.

    • @siyzerix
      @siyzerix 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@b0ne91 Yes because the 5800h + 3060 legion has no issues matching a desktop 3060 with a 5800x.
      But its definitely not because the 5600h is ''weak''. I mean its zen 3. Should be around a 5600g

    As much as the 3050 mobile card has the rt and tensor cores, the default general gaming performance is relatively poor and is almost always beaten (sometimes heavily at higher quality settings) by the 1660 ti which should not have happened.
    To give some idea, the 1660 ti will run BF V at 1080p close to 100fps average with Ultra settings (although this was in DX11 so I would have to find DX12 numbers to be sure). And this is with a worse CPU, so I think it is just the handicapped GPU specs causing the strange results with some games not needing the same memory bandwidth to run well (or the CPU was throttling with the rog maybe)
