@@iVETAnsolini AK did new pads and paste on the GPU with no temp improvement. Video is on this channel. I think changing and adding case fans is a must. I will be trying adding a front intake, top radiator suck and blow, and then a low profile fan below the GPU in the back 2.5” cage area to help blow and possibly exhaust some heat from GPU.
I don’t get my R10 for a month though, so hopefully you come up with a great solution so I can copy you :)

The R10 I bought last year has its PCIe 3.0 capped at x8... Which I kept hearing was going to "keep me from seeing x16 speeds" and kind of irked me a bit. There was also only ONE M.2 NVME slot on the motherboard, which means I'd have to use a SATA SSD for HD expansion. People told me a SATA SSD would be "slower" than the M.2 which also annoyed me. Oh, and I bought it with 16GB of RAM instead of 32 or 64 because I couldn't believe the balls Dell had charging that much for RAM holy Jesus.
Happy to report it's the fastest computer I've ever owned. Startup is near instant, everything is snappy and it screams along with anything I throw at it. Gaming, video conversion, design work - I upgraded the RAM to 64GB through a 3rd party vendor for HALF of Dells prices, so yeah - pleased with it.
I did know going in that airflow was an issue with these cases so I've tinkered a bit and achieved decent results at keeping it all cool. I suppose that's my biggest "disappoint" - for such an outwardly large case, the components are really jammed in there - and placed in a way that really screws with air flow. PSU center and right above the CPU and the GPU? Any explaination as to why they did this other than "look: cool new different design"? Cripes. Any how - not the perfect machine by far, but it's still very nice and I expect to get years of enjoyment from it.

The only reason people consider this alienware prebuild is u can't get 3000 series card anywhere at proper price, that's all. Most people won't even buy this prebuild garbage if the 3080 available in market at retail :). Overengineered overprice plastic

I think the single major failure of r11, is the psu , type, location, it's just bad, it sits right on top of the backplate of the 3080 and dell should kill the design team for doing shit like this. I swapped the thermal pad of the 3080 and it's running like a champ now, giving 100mh/s with only 84c on the vram but God with they did that so I don't have to pee in my pants doing the swap

I'd recommend the R10, now that it has an RTX 3080 option. If you play around with some of the options, you can get either the R12 or R10 in early to mid May. This channel goes over the mining for the RTX 3080 in pretty good detail. Check his other vids out and overall, mining without pushing your temps to the limits, shouldn't shorten the life of your components very much.

      @macaltime2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

bring the power down, those are hungry and run very hot, you'll have to adjust your trimmings too, a simple google search can probably bring up some suggestions. You may also need to make some adjustments to the thermal paste/pads. Make sure you have great airflow and remember mining isn't about the hash rate it's more about your efficiency. If you follow the above steps and research your components will be fine, just pay attention and do your due diligence.

Anyone buying a pre built should stay well away from Dell. These things aren't designed for easy upgrades and come with extremely low end mobos, really bad airflow, cheap aios that can't cool the cpu they are running, extremely loud, pretty sure the RAM they use is also really cheap stuff usually something like 3200 at C20. If you go pre built try literally almost any other company.

Thank you for the video again. The other day I canceled my R12 order. Alienware just updated their R10's to have 3080/3090 GPUs now. So changed from the 11th Gen R12 to the AMD R10 for the PCIe 4.0 and a little bit cheaper processing power. I went with the R12 reluctantly at first, because it still had the PCIe 3.0. So, had to cancel once they updated the available GPU's. Delayed my delivery by an estimated 4 days, but worth it.

Hi, I have just found your channel and already watched few of your videos, I like them very much , I agree with your comments, I would also add that Aurora would look much better If the chassis was painted black as inside and back it looks like standard office desktop Dell, another thing colours of the AW510K keyboard do not much the rest of the FXX, ACC software is not the most user friendly, could be much improved, what else? even few months old R10 cannot be upgraded to newest Ryzen 5000 CPUs, even with newest BIOS(they already sell R10 with Ryzen 5000 since last month), also pci-e is only x8 not x16, also seems that design of the chassis is already 5 years old and PSU sits just next to CPU which does not helps with cooling. Not mucn room inside - I had to move my intake fan into HDD place to be able to fit new GPU - I installed Gigabyte Vision RTX3070( 3 fans GPU) and surprisingly temps are really good(around 65-70 during gaming, and around 40-50 on idle) although I have liquid cooled version and Ryzen 3600 which is only 65W. I love your studio and the lighting controller - what is it?

  • @killazebra

I dislike that the pci-e slot is x8. Even thou x16 difference is almost nothing I have never ran a video card in x8 since agp days lmaoo!!! I dislike that there are no extra fan headers I have to roll with whatever they put in it and thats it. I dislike the swivel psu design. I thought it was cool at first but now I realize how it really chokes the pc airflow wise and makes such a big case seem even smaller inside. I also dislike the bios options, as someone who has built my own pcs for years this is my first pre built due to lack of supply and prices being inflated I got a really good deal on an r11 at a local best buy and couldn't pass it up, I am used to a much more in depth bios with voltage and clock tuning and advanced features built in. With the negatives aside thou it is a great pc. I am playing all games maxed out at 4k and recording it easily. Runs emulation programs such as yuzu like a breeze. It is def the fastest pc I have ever owned and I love it but like I said this being my first pre built it takes some getting used to that I cant tinker with my pc like my other builds.

For the most part this PC has been excellent especially since this is my first gaming PC. The only thing I hate is fact that I can't upgrade to the new 5000 series Ryzen Cpu due to a bios upgrade that is being held back by Dell. I love my PC but I know my next PC will probably be built by me so I can take full advantage of the customizable options the PC platform has to offer.

Get a USB enclosure for the HDD they are like 15 bucks. it's what I did when I got my second nvme SSD. Also, you wouldn't even notice a difference going to PCIe 4 from PCIe 3. And PCIe 5 is coming out very soon anyway. But it doesn't matter as of right now cause nothing uses that much bandwidth unless you have an insanely expensive NVMe SSD they are almost hitting 7gbps but even then would you really notice a difference in games and on your OS. it's already insanely fast. I remember back when I was on dial-up and AOL was a thing. It blows my mind when people complain about the speed of their internet or hard drives in this day and age.. lol. But I know you had to think of something as there isn't much to not like with the R11. So with that said good video, sir.

The MOBO is the biggest issue, it doesn't seem like it can be upgraded whatsoever, so 30 series graphics cards are the last of the line. Definitely not future proof by any means, something that should be expected from a gaming PC that costs thousands. C'mon it's 2021...My Alienware will eventually go to the wife or kids, and I'll be building my own, won't ever be going intel again either. That being said, still an amazing piece of tech with a 3080 RTX actually available in 01/2021.

I have come to realize that these Alienware desktops are just bad PCs. The parts are just awful. I went with Alienware because I thought that they were the best PC gaming company around. They were when I was younger, but now they are just awful. I will never buy from Alienware again. My R13 was complete junk. It crashed 20 times in two days, overheated, and scored a 2500 on Heaven benchmark. A Compac Presario from 2003 could score better than that. I got an R10. Heating has been a major issue plus the GPU sits at way too high of temps while idle. I know you've made videos on how to remedy these cooling situations, but I bought a pre-built solely because I don't trust myself to handle extremely sensitive PC parts. Now in order to fix it without handling everything myself requires me to pay a premium at some PC shop in order to remedy the cooling issues. Also my graphics and FPS hasn't been performing as well as advertised in certain games (Witcher 3, RDR2, Battlefront II). Otherwise, it's been a solid PC.

I decided to purchase an R12 without a Gpu from fleabay. It’s the 11400f version. First, I usually build my own computers and have done for nearly 30 years now. I hate the lack of room for a decent sized cpu cooler! If the cryorig C7 cu doesn’t work in this PC then I think it’s going back on fleabay very soon. I hate water cooling because it doesn’t cool anywhere near as well as it should, especially with a single 120mm fan. The engineer that decided to put the power supply directly over the cpu should be fired immediately! I’ve built mini itx builds in the past that have better airflow than these cases and thats just sad.

They finally fixed their website after so many people complained about 95+C CPU temps to offer liquid or air but as of 3/2021 I still couldn't OC my processor (3900 Non-X) through AWCC (or bios). Combine those issues with the fact that it only comes with a single NVME slot, I finally gave up and moved some of the guts over to a Fractal Meshify XL with an Aorus Master X570. So now I have 3 NVME 1tb in Raid 0 and it boots up into a nice all-core OC and the 2080 super is cool as a cucumber. The AW case and mobo are now sitting forlornly in a corner...it's not even worth it to try and sell because no one wants it. This was my 2nd pre-built in 20+ years and will be my last I think.

I hate how loud my R10 is. I replaced the air cooler with a Corsair H60 AIO and Corsair fans and it's still loud. I think I'm going to through some VM's on there and use it as a server. I bought it for the graphics card which I put in my main desktop, a Ryzen 5800X, and I threw a cheap graphics card on my Alienware. I upgraded from a 5700XT to a 3060TI which isn't a huge upgrade but Dell wanted an extra $800 for a 3080 over the 3060TI.

What I HATE is when I was ordering mine I spent hours on the phone talking with multiple Dell people asking repeatedly if the GPU was a true founders edition manufactured by Nvidia because like some people who bought one in the past 6 months I bought it solely for the 3090 FE that turns out is not a f#€king FE.

Really? Not having PCIe gen 4 & because the cycle speeds on the lighting is a bit too fast are 2 of your top 5 beefs with your system? Really? (What on Earth are you doing that you'd have even the potential to notice in any meaningful way the difference between gen 3 & gen 4? I'm not being facetious, it's a serious question, because out of all the possible bottlenecks in the system, gen 3 PCIe is not the one that jumps off the page. To me anyway). Would not much more relevant details like the lack of ability to upgrade the power supply, which is both underpowered and not HE be a bit concerning?, or how about the inability to put in a decent AIO cooler because the case simply doesn't have the room? More generally, that Dell has gone out of their way to ensure doing virtually any upgrade to the system is near impossible because either the motherboard lacks the IO to connect it, and/or the case lacks the space to house it, and/or the power supply lacks the wattage to power it? The RGB cycling a bit too fast is the least of the problems with the system.

Is there some obvious bios setting Im missing or am I getting unlucky with my bios in some way? Any help welcome

The case freaking sucks Am moving the system to a fractal case as soon as it gets here because your cooling does not work without airflow first time buying a prebuilt because 2020\2021 and am not at all impressed with how crammed it is and the lack of a 2nd full size M.2 slot hurt also.

Simple cage install is to remove the case plastic base. install cage then slap that plastic foot back on. or mark the cage and notch out the metal so it slides over the plastic tab sticking up near the mobo.
Dislikes hmm AWCC can be a pain if you need to reinstall it.
You cant add or change the mobo as its covered in dell only connections for front panel and leds etc etc
No chance of moving it to a new case because of the above.
Cooling is pretty bad requiring user intervention to correct.
Its not hard to correct but if your a warranty sort of person you are stuck with doing push pull on the radiator and 2 intakes.
    If your not worried....
I have a 240mm aio in my machine with 2 intakes and floor ventilation.
That's on my R9 it is almost out of warranty so I'm fine with it.

Just worried about spending too much on one knowing that future upgrades would be a pain. Wish they’d change their case and use common motherboards. Ended up giving my Alienware to my buddy and buying a lenovo legion that i like much better.

I don't really have any gripes about my R11. I replaced my RAM with 64GB (2x32) T-Force DDR4-3200 (running at 3200MHz), setup a perm 5.1GHz OC on my CPU, setup a perm 10% OC on both the GPU and GPU Memory clocks, replaced the intake fan with a Corsair ML120 Pro, replaced the AIO fan with 2x Corsair ML120 Pros in push/pull, added a 1TB 970 EVO NVMe SSD via a PCIe M.2 card, added 2x SanDisk Ultra 3D 2TB SSDs and added a 14TB Seagate Exos 7200RPM drive. 20TB internal storage...yee yee
I like the idea of a second intake fan, but since switching the AIO to a dual fan setup, I haven't had any cooling problems to speak of, at all.

Hey man, I did the fan swap. I got the same fans you have. I ran into a problem I didn't like. The OEM fans are 4 prong, the cooler master fans are 3 prong. I also got the same splitter cables you purchased. Now, the fans work just fine, that's not the issue, the issue is that ACC will NOT let me change the fan speeds at all with the cooler master fans. I connected them to every fan slot on the MB and it just doesn't let me change the speed. So I threw the OEM fan back down at the bottom but left a CM fan as the second one above it and as long as I have the OEM fan connected to the 4 prong splitter and the CM fan on the 3 prong, I can change the speeds NP. So in the end I just have an extra CM fan where that fat drive was but I'm able to control the 2 front fans at will, which I prefer more than a constant 30% (which is when the fans registered without being able to control them).

Not hard at all, probably the best move. The case design is so flawed, you will see, the power supply is right in the middle of the rig, blocking natural airflow. Air flow should be from front to back with no obstruction or bends. The interior design is so stupid. I'm ditching it when I get it in also.
