With claying done, valve 2 valve checking cam degree
locking the vtec rocker arms is a must so here we show how we do it
We share a simple way of locking the Bseries B16, the Dseries d16, Hseries H22 and its much the same for Kseries like the k20a and k24
also as we use checking springs, a simple solution can be done without needing to purchase anything.
As mentioned on the video episode 3 of an earlier B20vtec is here
We did mention that you can feel free to post any questions here and we will answer always and but if you have a more extensive question and to let me respond well with photos and examples our shop page is the place for you

I did something similar when I installed a d15z6 VTEC-E cam and roller rocker arms into my d14a4 non-vtec head. Used a nut that we ground the edges off to become a circular wide spacer and ground it down so it's narrower and fits next to the spring, simulating oil pressure. It's always locked in 16 valves and since VTEC-E switches on at around 2000-2500 depending on load, idle and low rpm is just fine.
Yep
Appreciate you showing us this with the valve spring trick, lots of people don't know about it haha , great vid brother!
so true I mean a lot talk about locked vtec etc but nobody shows these
Oh the valve spring trick is a must to share cuz
When I was a college kid degreeing the first time a B16 as I clay checked piston to valve I bent the intake
It turned hard so I was like “ah the valvetrain is tough” not knowing it was the valve hahaha
@@SRDmotorsports exactly! No one shows the process
@@SRDmotorsports 😂 damm, well hey you turned that mistake into a lesson you will never forget
and it’s hard to tell if they talking like they did it or hearsay unless shown
Hey, what's up, haven't seen any of your videos a while but I'm on the Facebook page, anyway I haven't got the time as yet to degree my cams but I full understand the process now
Oh nice!! Super glad the process is brewing well now
just feel free to throw in a question here or at the page
Even if it’s a semi unrelated comment to a video or post il always try to get back to it (easy to track via notifications 🤣)
Can anyone please tell me if locking vtec would negatively affect oil pressure in low rpms. Since the oil has the vtec galleries to fill while at low rpm. Please any thoughts am currently building the head
@@vadski3469 it usually won’t affect it as “locking” it won’t need the added pressure to activate vtec so with vtec locked the filling of galleries isn’t really needed for it
Though it would eventually fill it still during operation
Aquí en Honduras todos son egoístas. Gracias hermano por La información 🤝🏼 muy claro
De nada Amigo :)
Would you be able to do a video on a K-series also?
it’s much the same as the Bseries the vtec rocker is the center etc etc
Can we lock vtec on an already assembled engine? To check V2V clearance
yeah but how can u check valve to valve clearance if the head is on the block?
@@SRDmotorsports any method to check V2V in an assembled engine?
none of
very timely...but i think i need to disassemble and remove some of the spring coz aftermarket springs would be very hard to turn😆
True it would be hard to turn but atleast just remove the cylinder 1 intake and exhaust springs no need for all of it just don’t install the other rocker arms just the one for cyl1
I have questions cuz I’m a noob 😔 do you gotta do that to all of them ? And do you recommend we get skunk 2 rocked arms the complete set or just that little part ?
Nice question… when we Clay or degree it’s usually just 1 chamber/piston so just lock that rocker arm set (both intake and exhaust on that piston/chamber number)
Is it worth it to lock vtec on an NA track car? 12.8:1 compression with pro2 cams
I think a lot have a misconception of it…
It’s simply having an engine or building an engine specifically for xxx type duration and xxx type lift for the specific powerband
its only us who has vtec but the engine design and approach is still the same
Horsepower in the head FTW
Yessss 😎
Awesome
Yep! I realized we always degree for you guys but have not really shared this so here it isssss hehe
