    Excellent video on Ram Air / Velocity Stack for you
    • Velocity Stack / Ram A...
    Some tech aspects and talks on the p2j core difference to a p08 or d16z6 head core, from its infamous "half tooth off" or 4.5deg off cam timing to the function of "swirl vs tumble"
    I say "infamous" because locally "they" dont see how this difference will make or break your own project as it affects injector phasing

    Interesting update on the Motul Racewars last Dec 2-3 event.
    A so called expert did a p2j vti head modded with p08 internals and a z6 based skunk2 cam on pm6 pistons…
    To prove my point? It ran 15.6sec
    Whereas a friend of mine tuned a bone stock VTi and it ran 15.1sec bone stock! On stock VTi cam
    Hahahahahaha
    So people are still free to experiment and try it but what the video here shared is what does not work

    Every video you're dropping gems 💥💥
    About the Y8 with the z6 cam issue. say I'm running a Y8 head + a z6 cam and an adjustable cam gear (degreed as well). To address the distributor issue, couldn't I just run a d15 dizzy? They have the same cam timing as a z6 and the bolt up to a Y8.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Doesn’t bolt up cuz the top most bolt is misaligned but possible,
      But the camgear side is still off that’s where everything went off, so to correct it by the distributor means it’s camgear is off by half a tooth or vice versa as mentioned on the vid

    • @tayvonrose2528
      @tayvonrose2528 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well I'm shit outta luck smh, guess I'm running slow/high on fuel for now

    • @SRDmotorsports

      @@tayvonrose2528 nah man still can solve it somehow I mean get a timing light and see where it’s at… and try to get it to 16btdc

    • @SRDmotorsports

      P08 cam and p08 camgear on a p2j head makes it “half tooth” off or 4.5degrees off

    • @SRDmotorsports

      The upgrades mentioned still doesn’t fix the issue when u think about it… so most likely a bare p08 head might help better

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      a USDM d16y8 is single vtec just like a p08 the main difference is the d16y8 20camlobe the cam timing is correct for a p2j head and distributor that is the issue locally they use a p08 cam when its a Z series like d16z6 and it is off by half a tooth
      so p08 internals is correct for a p08 head and incorrect for a p2j head
      a true d16y8 from the US will use the same vti distributor and being "centered" gets you the correct timing on the timing gun

      an adjustable camgear can hide the problem so the timing seems correct... like i stated on the vid if ur injector firing sequence/timing is off? it will run erratic or abnormal...

But in the end someone told me that a programmable ecu will solve my problem and that's definitely the answer! At last 😁

      "With a D16A6 head and D15B2 (flat PM3 pistons coming out of the deck about .028") I ran 87 octane, full timing and as lean as 18:1 air fuel ratio without audible knock in any gear. it was around 10.2:1 compression and I could be in 5th going like 40mph at 1500, hold it in full throttle and still no marbles in a coffee can. it had exceptional low rpm torque."
      Interesting that he had no part throttle pings (I'm thinking it's due to the additional chamber volume of the A6, but then again I am no automotive engineer but I think Mike B. knew his stuff very well and was TOO's student).
      Another interesting build was this (except for the bad part throttle pings that they had to drive carefully in stop and go traffic):
      Y8 head with y7 cam towers and rockers + PG6B pistons with the slight dome milled off + Colt tri flow camshaft; probably the quench pad was too tight

    Not sure why my post got deleted lol baka kasi may link to a honda tech post. I was referring to a comment by Mista Bone in a mini me/cam timing thread about correcting timing through the adjustable cam gear while the distributor is on dead center:
    Will just copy his reply here
    "the question would only be dumb, if you had to ask it again, and again, and again!
    Now the SECRET since I started this mess 6 years ago.
    Warm car up, adjust idle to 700 rpm and ignition timing to center mark.
    Change cam using a adj. cam gear at zero. Adjust cold lash settings, start car.
    Now reset the ignition timing @ 700 rpm, BUT use the cam gear instead of the dist. to change the timing setting.
    Sounds simple now doesn't it?
    The effects without a cam gear, I tried both settings........
    Not bad 135 crank hp from a 102 hp motor with simple bolt-ons. I consider the cam a simple bolt-on."

      only thing sa p2j / p08 issue i shared on this video is... ok once that is corrected? is the quench distance correct if not then like my esi video? lower comp still made more power...
      then after that? solution to swirl port for economy? so see after all that its alot better and simpler just slap a whole p08/z6 head right? cuz LFT and even Speedfactory coulda chosen a y8 head na p2j but didnt hmmm

      that would also mean u can switch to a b16 throttle for improved response :) and that might be perfect for an awd

      Hi, I hope you get to still read this.
      I did get what you meant by the P2J head with P08 internals having issues, your explanations were very eye opening, thanks so much!
      My question is: I now see some sellers locally selling P2J head with stock 20 camlobes (not P08 internals), maybe this is from a US version (D16Y8 perhaps?)?
      If that is the case, will this new P2J 20 camlobes version have NO more issues, as presented in the video? Its cam gear looks similar to the local P2J (Civic VTi) and not P08 cam gear
      Is this version truly "bolt-on"?
      No issues with stock VTi distributor, timing, head gasket, ECU, etc?

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@King-pv1du yes if it’s a USDM d16y8 head then all the known issues disappear and u use a y8 style camgear or like skunk2 has markings for z6 or y8 but the distributor issue and phasing is all good
      Only diff now is when u buy let’s say crower stage 2 ? Don’t get the crower 63442z get the 63442Y cuz that’s also the reason why they did two diff cams
      Sadly locally people sell the y version the 63442y and just says u just adjust the camgear? Sure and it’s back to the same issue I talked about on this video…
      And u know madami nka ganyan or sellers here and see the results none ran good most even went to Mfactory gearsets and still needed to be feather weight to run decent = ultra slow

    And then you can dyno the ported p2j. I totally don't get why you're bashing the p2j on this video but yet praise it on the other. Sounds like a personal issue

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It wasn’t the head, it’s what the locals do and try to make it as if it’s a d16y8 by slapping on a z6 camcap/rocker and z6 cam which is called a P08 here…
      Hence the term “locally”
      oh and they can dyno but they ran 17.871sec I don’t think we need to see a dyno of a slower than stock civic
      Again this explanation is for the locals who keep junking stuff by attempting to make a z6 cam and rocker set work on a y5 or y7 it is I think as the d16y8 never came locally just US. sounds like comprehension is needed?

      Nah man all is good def no problem hehehe I def see where ur coming from… …a little thing to note the head casting has diff angled tangs for the distributor… so to get 16btdc it might be off position , and by then we know the 2 other sensors like cyp and tdc is “off” and that’s the injectors reference point on firing…
      Def all good questions man… it helps the readers visualize too so you good man
