A strange man turns up at the computer lab claiming to be… Franz Hopper. Our heroes can’t believe their eyes. But in truth, the man is just another of XANA’s spectres which has taken on a human appearance. He cleverly, yet relentlessly sows dissension in the gang so he can wipe out our heroes and lure Aelita to Lyoko so that the Scyphozoa can steal her memory. - บันเทิง

@[ ANUBITEK ] Then again, it seems that XANA didn't do anything to destroy Project Carthage during the time of betraying Franz and Franz having the supercomputer turned off.
When XANA-Hopper says "Admit you're defeated Jeremie", it shows XANA's desire to beat Jeremie intellectually. Out of all the Lyoko Warriors, XANA seems to despise Jeremie the most.
XANA recognizes Jeremy as a big threat, intellectually. But it has a lot of respect for his intelligence. It once said it was "almost proud" to resemble him.
Well Jeremy bested XANAs logic in Ghost Channel and also created the Marabounta which if Aelita hadn't gone to Lyoko would more than likely have destroyed XANA. Jeremy is definitely the biggest threat to XANAs survival.
Because he’s literally the only one that keep up with XANA intellectually. He is scared of him.

Considering the shit Jeremy did, not only for her, but for them, she have every right to defend him. She even defended William after he got freed from XANA. She's a true friend and it's hard to believe at one point she was just an A.I. in a computer for 10 years.

It's not like Jeremie shoved them in the scanners... what irks me is that they CHOSE to believe a stranger over him... even knowing that Xana can change forms.

That’s bullshit. That is no forgiveness being given easily. That is just the typical shit in stories like this: They always want to end things on a happy note. The world doesn’t work like that. I would end the episode with Jeremy mad at all of them, except Aelita. Have him give the gang the cold shoulder and forgives them like what? Maybe 10 episodes later.

Every animated feature I see, the character easily forgives someone for the wrong done to them. We get it, they are the good guys. But even good guys can have holding a grudge; make tim ore interesting, easy forgiving is so overrated and overused in hero stories.

Even though there aren't any side effects, the group is honestly so wrong for their behavior towards Jeremy. Sure, virtualization can be a difficult thing to understand, but they all voluntarily and willingly (with the exception of Odd) chose to be virtualized when they found out about Lyoko, especially Yumi. Maybe it was Ulrich's teasing in the prolouge that pressured her to step into the scanner, but she didn't have to if she didn't want to.

Well, we need to remember the gang is in middle school. They're angsty, hormonal teenagers not only having to deal with the tough life of middle school with other teens, they also have to fight to save the world. I know it's still not an excuse, but I think we can all think back to when we were teens and jumped to conclusions. As well as letting our feelings take control over us.
Hormonal? That is your excuse? That your defense?! I thought teenage years are the point where we start to develop common sense! I am 16 and have been in the situations like this but I never let emotions do the talking! Jumping to conclusions is never the answer or a rational thing to do! He’s probably the only member of the group, save for Aelita, to actually pose a real threat to him since Hopper himself.
I love the direct interactions between Jeremy and XANA, not only is it excellent main protag/main antag dialogue, it also shows that even a robotic AI like XANA has some form of emotion, feeling a sense of pride about going up against Jeremy and a bit of anger and ego at constantly getting foiled by him.
I mean XANA is a Multi-Agent System and the agents all share the same mind & personality while him and Spectres are extensions, it's pretty obvious that Agent/Spectre is XANA.
I love when XANA gets outsmarted. You can imagine the dissapointed look on his non-existent digital face.
It's not so much as outsmarted, but more of not fully understanding that humans aren't predictable, that they are resourceful and can think on the spot, and that human behavior is just rather predictable in an unpredictable sort of way. Like humans are complex, and Xana is as well, but in a different way, he doesn't understand that humans can change or hold different perspectives.
In this corner, we have Odd from the Lyoko Warriors. And in the other corner, we have one of XANA's monsters, a Creeper. Let the first round commence!
zoe animations I fucking lost it when I watched that. Odd has always been my favorite and that scene pretty much sealed it.

I love how while Franz is scolding Jeremy, Aelita has her arms folded nearly glaring at him knowing Jeremy was right in what he was saying. And the echo of "And you're the one who let XANA destroy my diary!" until it clicks. XANA is supposed to be this hyperintelligent AI yet he made such a major mistake.
😂I think Xana forgot about that episode when he possessed Jeremy
X.A.N.A. was so preoccupied in trying to say what would mess up Jérémie, that he didn't consider Franz's alternate perspective
every system has a flaw, XANA is no exception.
That just makes XANA even better, he's learning and that stays true to being a computer program.
They establish early on that XANA and AI are capable of making mistakes. But as XANA grows stronger, he also learns more.
Odd can be so fucking funny sometimes, wrestling with those Creepers and Roaring like a Cat 😂

It’s episodes like this that really make me appreciate Jeremie’s character. I mean he’s demonstrated time and again that he would never ever give up on his friends (even if they act like jerks to him sometimes) when they need him. While Jere can be impossible (either quick to anger or dismissive of his friends interests) he truly does care about them and is willing to make amends for his own faults (even if at times he beats himself up too much), he’s repeatedly making sacrifice after sacrifice in the War Against XANA and it feels like he doesn’t get enough credit for it
I fully agree.
Can I just remark how ridiculously nice Jeremy's folks are? 10/10 parents
Foreshadowing for XANA's scheme:
1. Hopper speaks in a rather robotic tone when the group questions him.
2. He seems rather dismissive of Aelita when she asks about her origins.
3. What Jeremie realizes, that he somehow knows about the destruction of his diary. The real Hopper would not have known, and plus, since Jeremie saved the data, I doubt that Waldo would've held it against him.
2. Ticked me off enough the first time I watched this.... (I was like: "why would he forget about the most important thing in lyoko? Wasn't he its... oh. crap.")

@@damariusgriffin After all, XANA did make a Yumi copy that told Ulrich to go out with Sissi and six episodes prior to this one made a polymorphic clone that took on Ulrich's form and kissed Sissi in front of Yumi (though granted, that was to cause friction and distrust amongst the Lyoko Warriors).

You know none of this was even Jeremy's fault, they all volunteered willingly to be Lyoko warriors (not Odd). No one had to if they didn't want to. That's really dumb they tried blaming Jeremy. If it even wasn't for Lyoko you would've never found such great friends so seriously this is a life lesson.

Well yes, Jeremy is at fault for a bit of this.
If the guy stayed in a child's place and didn't fool around with a SUPER computer, his friends never would have found out about it and there you go.
Other than that, I still don't agree with how his friends treated him. Sure he is at fault for reviving the super computer but Jeremy is a good kid and smart too. I'm sure he would have figured something out for this supposed mess yumi was in during this episode if worse came to worse.
He IS the brains behind these operations and he is always doing his best to come in clutch for his friends.
I wouldn't say Jeremy wasn't at fault for any of this but I would NEVER say he is an intentional villain, going by what I've seen.

If Jeremy never turn on the super computer then Aelita would be trapped in Lyoko forever. Aelita would not deserve that type of fate due to her Father’s actions.
I 100% disagree with the group blaming Yumi's alleged cell degeneration on Jeremy . *1)* They accept Franz's word at face-value as easily as accepting his conveniently sudden appearance, as if they'd forgotten XANA can materialize specters.
*2)* Jeremy would've had no way of knowing the scanners were dangerous, nor any discernible viable alternative to deactivate towers even if they were. Their only other option then would've been to shut XANA down, sacrificing Aelita.
*3)* Had Jeremy known the scanners carried risks this heavy, does any fan honestly think he would've risked their lives like that regardless? Sure, the characters risk death regularly but never at the willful hand of a friend in such a context.
The only reason I didn't lose all respect for the team was because, while I don't agree with their reaction, I understand that they're still kids. Logically, Yumi should know Jeremy wouldn't hurt her but humans aren't strictly logical, especially teens.
She's still hurt, scared, mad, and feels an emotional need to blame someone for a crisis beyond her control, right or wrong. That dinner scene, contemplating if this will be her "last supper" with her family but saying no goodbyes, portrays this well.
Then being kids is a bullshit excuse! There is common sense in this situation
@@voiceacticon667 I would agree, except I've learned from experience that "common sense" is relative. Meaning, it's not universal. The fact is, humans as a species have always been emotional first and logical second. It's in our nature.
It's always easier to judge what characters should or shouldn't do from the outside pov of an observer (i.e. us, the audience), but the way people react to watching a situation play out with the benefit of hindsight is different from actually being in that situation.
There's no such thing as universal common sense that everybody possesses. Common sense is learned and will vary depending on a number of factors between individuals (environment, circumstance, relationships, etc).
There's NEVER a guarantee that common sense will prevail in life, especially under pressure. This is even more so the case for children, as they're generally more impressionable, insecure, and have yet to finish mental development.
Add to that the fear of contemplating probable imminent death, and the situation becomes even less black & white. Overall, I don't necessarily disagree with you that the group could've easily avoided this drama with some critical thinking.
It's frustrating, definitely, and storytelling does often use it as a trope to justify contrivances for sake of plot. Nonetheless, the truth is that real life is like that sometimes. People don't always think what they should when they should.
And perhaps nowhere in life is this more prevalent than for teenagers (never mind teens regularly risking their lives fighting to save Earth from a killer A.I., using tech. they still don't fully understand while trying to balance an everyday life with school & family).
@@Justmyhandle I rewatched this show as a teenager years ago and watching this episode as a teen pissed me off. These idiots just took Frank help at face value. From experience, shouldn’t they know that xana is capable of making specters? They should’ve thought of that possibility. Also, they know that xana has tried to divide and conquer them to help in his cause. At that was 6 episodes ago. They should have the common sense to always expect something because you never know. This the episode I hate the most of this season. I said it before when I was 15 and I will say it again: Them being teenagers is no excuse.

In this episode, Yumi believed that she was going to die. She believed she was going to slowly fade away because Jeremy either wasn’t attentive enough of the risks or was overconfident to the point that he didn’t even check.
Keep in mind that “Franz Hopper” identified this issue in basically no time at all and had already proven his alleged trustworthiness by deactivating one of XANA’s towers during his first appearance. This made the Lyoko Warriors more willing to trust him. And the fact that he identified Yumi’s issue so quickly kinda made them think that Jeremy should have been able to figure it out too, if he had looked.
I don’t believe they’re overdramatic about this or that they’re too quick to turn on Jeremy in this one. They legit think that Yumi will die because of his negligence. And they have the proof from a source who took down XANA’s towers in front of them.

I love it when the plot doesn't just tell you the secret, but gives you hints.
Fake Hopper said that his diary was destroyed. The only hint was how he emphasized that part. And yet viewers with good memory(or those who are binge-watching the episodes, like me) would remember that a few episodes back Jeremy said that he'd made a backup of all the disks.
And it really makes you feel like a goddamn detective when it turns out you were right.
Only odd could come up with the idea of having a boxing match against 1 of X.A.N.A.s creepers and have the time of his life while doing it
That has to be my favorite scene out of this entire episode and awed is definitely my favorite character

15:55-16:40, 16:54-17:24 This is one of my favorite moments in Code Lyoko. Not only is it hilarious to see Odd fighting against a Creeper with an improvised boxing match (complete with sound effects even!) as well as let out a little roar I find to be similar to a kitten 16:56-16:59, it is rather badass to see him go at it with nothing but physical combat, and it helps with Ulrich aiding him by kicking it right into the digital sea.
The animation was sick too!👏🏼
what i don't understand is why they all are blaming jeremie for what happened. even if it was true, he had no way to know! blaming someone else for problems no one had any way of knowing about is no way to sole a problem, and just ruins friendships

Like, seriously. They didn't even know what specifically was "wrong" with Yumi, and even then, I think they're all forgetting that if it wasn't for Jeremy, none of them would've met, Aelita would've never been saved, and Xana would of destroyed/taken over the planet already

They were so quick to turn on Jeremy, except Aelita of course. At least they came to their senses. Throughout this whole series, these characters have serious faults and strengths - which makes them believable characters, almost human in a way for being cartoon “heroes” of the show. They show growth and change like maturing people do.

Sector 5 isn't Carthage it's the core of Lyoko, the barrier to Carthage. According to the books at least.
Not to mention the "That's why I'm here." to helping Aelita when he hadn't even known about her problem until they told him.
im so appalled at how odd, ulrich, and yumi acted to jeremy this episode. they acted like he was intentionally trying to kill them, when that was so obviously not the case. their trust was so easily thrown out the window, like how are you guys this easily manipulated? i guess the kissing episode is a good example of their trust in each other lol. im glad aelita at least still tried to stand by him as much as she could.
honestly this episode pissed me off, if there his friends, why the heck would they treat him like that even if he did make a mistake he didn't know about.
Personally, I really enjoyed this episode. I think it had some really cool fight scenes in Sector 5. Also, even though it’s true that the team were kind of assholes to Jeremie, I honestly didn’t care about it at all. Probably just because he’s my least favorite Lyoko Warrior due to him being a dumbass sometimes lol.

They were obviously highly sensitive from the shock of what they just learned so the softest trigger sent by high status figure like Franz Hopper was enough for them to lash out on Jeremy as he was in fact the person that started it all. Also, after what he did to Ulrich a few episodes ago I don't blame him for lashing out on him, Jeremy's kind of an hypocrite sometimes.
I could never forgive the Lyoko Warriors for how easy they got off after how they treated Jeremy. I wish XANA would have called them out on that:
"You know, I almost feel sorry for Jeremy. One *teensy* little white lie and you all drop him faster than last week's dirty socks. I thought you all were supposed to be *friends?* AH HAH HAH HAH HAH!"
xana sees jermery as a rival and a threat it will be bored if jermery quits
The Supercomputer has a log that records all the actions that someone does on the interface, so shouldn't the commands that XANA-Franz typed in for the direct virtualization to Sector 5 be recorded? Along with the hacks for the group's weapons?

Jeremy is 10 xana and Hopper are both older than him and therefore have more knowledge. Plus the info probably in sector five and you know xana sends tons of monsters to give them a hard time
XANA could have been periodically erasing the history. Logically I don't think he'd see an immediate need to, but you know, magic.

One thing I do like about this episode is that it finally established exactly how capable Xana can be. I wonder if the number of activated towers corresponds to his overall processing power. He's largely docile when they're deactivated, lashes out sporadically when there's one or two, but if he manages to build up to five or more, *watch out.*
I have to agree, even the fan game ifscl gave thought to this and made a doom's day attack with a kolosus, krab and a creeper to attack the team in the real word. Xana activated 6 towers like a circuit.

Honestly, it always bugged me how quick they were to turn on Jeremy. It's understandable that they got mad, but it's still really strange that they jumped so quickly from believing Franz and wanting to banish Jeremy, especially since Franz Hopper just happened to spawn up one night with no explanation. They didn't even really apologize to him afterwards, either.
I also get angry at them but They probably apologized off screen Just remember Jeremie s words ''Of course I am not angry with you'' they probably said something like We are really sorry jeremie we shouldn t blame you like that are you angry at us ? to recieve that reply
Off screen is not enough to satisfy anyone! We want to see it! We want to see the shame!

Given how much they do a return to the past, I kinda wish we had an episode where Jeremy decided to leave Kadic after all. The way the group (Besides Aelita) easily turned on him still really pisses me off. I would’ve loved to see Jeremy leave to make them realize how wrong they are and after they get it settled, he returns to the past to come back.

The only problem with that is, they get at best 2 days to realize how bad they had screwed up
I know it shouldn't, but it pisses me off that, anytime something goes wrong or appears to go wrong with the scanners, the others don't hesitate to blame Jeremy and get angry at him. Do they forget that, despite his intelligence, he's still just as human as they are? What? It's not just this episode, but the one where Ulrich's mind and body get separated, it happens.
Also, this happens in the group a LOT. Not just with Jeremy. They're all supposed to be friends and yet, they immediately point the finger and don't hesitate to blame others in the group for simple misunderstandings or things out of their control.
Ulrich: "Like father, like son."
Yeah, not like he's the one whose father berates him for bad grades, unlike you.

That creeper had felt serious pain on its face and neck(Odds scratches and Ulrich's kick)

Nice to see Jeremie let XANA think he was the smartest person in the room before pulling an epic one on him. Granted XANA did pull a good one over on the Lyoko Warriors but XANA essentially tried burying them before they were dead with his line about the diary.
I find it interesting how xana tells almost entirely the truth about Aelita, himself, Franz Hopper, Franz's original purpose for Lyoko, and Franz's purpose for X.A.N.A.
Xana probably doesn't know exactly what information the group has uncovered. If he lied about something the group already knows or things no longer add up, xana's trap will be blown. It is funny how in the end that instead of providing false information, it is actually knowing too much that exposed xana's trap.

Ughhh. And they say that Ulrich is the sulky one of the group. Yumi has serious anger and trust issues and Odd needs to stop following the majority. Why is Aelita the most sensible of all of you!? After this episode, I'm reminded why Jeremie is my favorite.

Low-key they all are fake to each other. Aelita is only the real friend out of all of them. Not once did she turn on Jeremy this episode or the time when they tried to kick Ulrich out either. Everybody else went from "bestfriends forever to fuck you" 😂.
I feel like they were all just a bit sensitive about what happened but they were still a bit rude (I feel like it's forgivable though as it was a serious situation). Ulrich had all the right to be as angry as he was after what Jeremy did to him when he launched a return to the past though, I feel like Jeremy is kind of the fake friend sometimes as all he wants is their help to get Aelita.

A nice little detail is that we can see 5 towers being activated. But "Franz Hopper" only turns off 4 of them.
Besides the introduction of Jeremies father, at the end of the episode..Odd was given the Arrow/Bullet curving style from wanted and Ulrich just learned Inuyashas Windscar ..WHAT A GREAT TIME TO BE ALIVE!
