I think Yumi has probably had the most horrible of the near-death experiences. Freezing to death trapped under a tree, nearly being baked alive (Ulrich was there too), AND nearly being pecked to death by birds.
Don't forget when she got violated by Xana with roots in the forbidden scene. I'm honestly surprised she survived. Nobody was really there to help here. Xana could've just ordered the crows to permanently kill her. I kinda find weird how he just left there unconscious
I know this comment section is old af, but this was one of my favorite shows, and I'm rewatching it so. The reason this happens to Yumi more often than not is misogyny, plain, and simple. Like, she was created with the purpose of being the "pretty goth girl" (which is reiterated by the fact that she has 3 guys crazy for her love), and that is good, no problem with that. Aelita is also kind of pretty in her design, but she leans more towards cutesy and doesn’t have as many pretenders. Just Jeremy and Odd sometimes flirts with her? But it's Odd, so it doesn’t matter. No, the difference here is that Yumi was made like that, with clear intent to be ogled by the male audience. Of course, all characters can be sexualized, and I'm pretty sure there's tons of guys out there who do that to Aelita because they like her more timid personality compared to Yumi and her innocence. But again, that's the point: Aelita looks innocent, like a child her age. Yumi is also lowkey adultified in her design, despite being only 1-2 years older than the other warriors, with explicit intent to make you forget that she's still a teen, and make you think that it's okay to sexualize her. And that all leads to the common stereotype of "big strong pretty girl getting beat." It's not uncommon in fiction to have a group of friends with a girl that is one of the strongest in the group who still gets beat a lot, even more often than the guys who're weaker than her, and should logically be beat more often than her. It shows here, and it hurts because overall, Yumi is pretty well-written. She has a great personality, her relationship development with Ulrich is impressive, and whenever her home life gets focused, that's interesting too. She's also the 2nd strongest warrior after Ulrich. And yet, the creators still like to give her scenes that can be classified as lowkey torture because they can't fathom the idea of a powerful female character existing without being knocked down a peg or two. It's obvious, too, because the guys rarely get beat or tortured as badly as Yumi. In fact, Aelita is tortured in almost every episode, but her pain is more emotional and psychological than physical, but it still hurts. The two girl characters in the group have considerably gone through more pain than the boys, and that's a conscious choice they made. A conscious choice they made to put the two leading female characters in so many painful situations, whereas the boys don't get anywhere near as much pain, despite all of them being warriors. Like, from the top of my head, I can't remember a single episode pr scene where Ulrich, Odd or Jeremy were tortured this badly. Like, in the episode where XANA summoned a super cold blizzard, it's true that both Yumi and Ulrich were caught outside, but she was the one trapped under a tree dying of hypothermia, while Ulrich wasn't portrayed to be in as much pain as her. There’s that one episode where Odd almost drowns near the hermitage, but that isn't such a brutal torture, and it's not painful, especially because it took lots of time for the water to drown him completely, and Yumi saved him before it could get worse. In this same episode, before they went to the sewers, Odd took a minute to distract the birds, and they completely covered him to peck him, but he still managed to repel them in a minute with a wooden stick. At the end of the day, men torturing their female characters, because they get off on the pain of teenaged girls persists.
They did a good job animating all those birds. Wow, poor Yumi. Ulrich had it rough w/no sword and controlled Aelita. Guess the birds left Jeremy alone after a while. Fun ending. Nice ep.
Johnny is reminding me of one of my exes. And boy would he annoy me to no end. Ugh, asking my fellow co workers if they've seen me or if I'm working that day. Then he would follow me to the break room at work. I snapped at him several times and I was ready to go to management to report him.
Jeremy: That's strange, the crow's migration pattern is nowhere near this location. It's as if they were all summoned here, but why? Ed: EVIL TIM HAS BECKONED THEM!
1: This episode turned into a Alfred Hitchcock film "The Birds" 🐦. It was so funny 😁 when Odd said "I changed my mind it wasn't a dumb film after all", and sometimes Odd can be a bird brain. 2: Yumi's right, Ulrich is not only jealous he's dumb as well 😒. And Jeremy and the others are right as well, Ulrich can be a jerk sometimes. 3: At the end of the episode I'm glad the Ulrich made up with Yumi, even that Johnny gave her the message. It was so funny that Aelita was the only Lyoko Warrior who has outclassed the others, figures it would be her. 🤣 🤣
To say that I feel sad for yumi is an understatement. Honestly, as if it's not enough that xana likes shitting on her everytime, but also that jerk ulrich with his ridiculous jealousy
If you keep track of the 5 LW's performances on Lyoko, each one of them does the best in a certain sector. Ulrich's are best seen in the Desert, Odd's are mainly seen in the Mountain Sector, Aelita's performances are best seen in the Ice Sector, Yumi's is best seen in the Forest, and William's is best seen in Sector 5
16:13 Seriously if Jeremy isn't responding something must have happened to him. The tower is deactivated already so why dodge the lasers Aelita. Let them devirtualize you and YOU launch the return in time
That's the thing sometimes, at times, Jeremy could have easily set up the return to the past to start up once the tower has been deactivated, but wasn't done. Such as in the zombie attack episode. Jeremy could have easily set up the return to the past and then disabled keyboard input.
Damn...one of the reasons I love Code Lyoko is the several scenes when certain characters (Yumi a lot of the times lol) are being brutally tortured, to the point where it's hard to watch sometimes. Yumi stuck in the shack while being violently pecked by the birds just drives home how much these kids struggle to do what their doing. I almost felt the hell that Yumi went through in that scene, which made me respect her character even more because she continues to fight knowing full well that she can die at any point. Shows that do these risky moves on TV should be more appreciated. And it could be translated into real life as well because being a firefighter, police officer, U.S. Soldier, or even something as small as a basic guardian, where your job is to protect others, comes with its severe pain and struggles that can potentially kill you. And Code Lyoko tells that beautifully.
Aelita: Destroys one crab and 2 hornets before literally deleting the entire sector Ulrich: Destroys 4 crabs. Follows this by destroying 3 hornets and a manta without his saber. Jeremy: AeLiTa Is ThE gReAtEsT
This episode has a pretty huge inconsistency. We know that Aelita can devirtualize on Lyoko now without any problem, and before Aelita was possessed, she deactivated the tower. So why didn't Ulrich use that stone spike and devirtualize Aelita before she got to the tower?
They were afraid something bad might happen to Aelita if they did a return to the past while she was possessed by Xana; maybe they thought devirtualizing her could also be dangerous while she was possessed. At least, Ulrich didn't want to do it without asking Jeremie.
6:46 Odd has a lot of fans! Hahaha! 7:34 "Ouch......now that's got to hurt."-Ulrich. No but seriously that has to hurt. Ouch! This was a good episode! I love it. 14:42 Especially that Aelita and Ulrich had more screen time of them talking to each other even if she was under Xana's control. I find their friendship wholesome. -August 11.2020
3:48, at least the boy knows theirs a difference between comics & manga. 5:36, oh birdemic. 8:17, something about that bird walking by felt familiar, i wanna say from a tremors movie. 14:51, the attitude on that girl, she has really come a long way since we 1st met her. 19:39, y is that tower red? Curse u animation error.
This was a pretty huge stepback for Ulrich's character and what he was established to be, it was established that Ulrich does legitimately care about Yumi. even to a point where he launched a return to the past without Jeremy and the others knowing, but in this episode, he tells this kid to follow her around. and thinks that was he's doing is funny and because the ending is rushed, his apology doesn't feel sincere in the slightest
It's times like this where the idea of Ulrich and Yumi as a couple just seems like it would be nothing short of a disaster. Ulrich can't seem to properly convey his feelings and Yumi always brushes his feelings off, despite having feelings for him. There's also the jealousy aspect, they both get so jealous over any possible connection they have with someone who isn't them. In Ulrich's case, it's William, and in Yumi's case, it was Emily. And throughout the show's run, there's like no progression in their relationship. I feel William got wasted when he remained XANA's prisoner throughout season 4, and the cold shoulder his friends gave him after he was freed. But I would say William is a better pick for Yumi than Ulrich.
The stats are wrong. Aelita killed barely two monsters and she got xanafied and deleted desert sector. She should've gotten minus points for that. Urlich killed over ten monsters and three of them without his saber!! Jeremy is clearly biased haha
and it shows her riding the overwing on lyoko instead of the overboard in those little intermission animations where it shows one of the chars and their name
Telling a Japanese girl (while trying to flirt (when you’re 2-3 years younger than her)) “I like Manga’s, I bet you know some good ones.” Seems really suspect.
14:18-14:30 WTF Odd!? Instead of talking about yourself, you should be more focusing on the attacks of the crabs but no you just had to brag about yourself and that's what you get you don't pay attention to the attacks during battle.
Yami Givo Odd always brags, remember in "Bragging rights" his friends call him pretentious so they test him by betting to see how long he can go without bragging
I think aelita is the one who is dumb.. while They two fighting why not she run straight to the tower?? it's only about 2 meters from her.. and she just watch nd wait untill the monsters died..
ElVaillant they were taking too long to fight the crabs, Odd is an idiot for talking during battle while at the same time competing against ulrich for stats and I really wasn't impressed by Aelita
Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds vibes! I remember one time I noticed a customer who is terrified of birds freaked out when she noticed a bird flying inside the store.
I find it annoying that 'Jeremy' basically declared 'Aelita' as the _best_ "Lyoko Warrior"; even though the competition was just between 'Ulrich' and 'Odd' and she had nothing to do with it, he only made her the winner because he's in love with her. : / If she's so "superior", then how come she can't _defend_ herself very well?!
Also, the stats were from the past few weeks. Meaning Aelita most likely killed more monsters than both Odd and Ulrich in the weeks leading up to this episode. Lol.
7:12 Aelita using a skateboard instead of a scooter 10:57 Odd and Ulrich bicker about stats and bad grades 13:23 Ulrich takes out a monster 14:16 Odd bragging 17:38 Johnny tells Yumi that Ulrich told him to follow her, Yumi calls Ulrich jealous and dumb 19:50 & 20:40 Ulrich uses a makeshift saber 21:03 Code XANA for the desert sector 22:35 Johnny apologizes to Yumi for Ulrich
The entire reason these episodes are 22-24 minutes long is so the tv stations could show 6-8 minutes of solid ads. And because DVR wasn't established yet, there was no way to skip. This show definitely got interrupted by ads back in the day.
Johnny's the kind of guy who walks into a room full of his superiors and not only claims that he will be bedding everyone's significant others, but demands that they help him do it. Johnny's the type of thug to leave a body count wherever he goes. I'm scared of Johnny.
11:51 prime example of Aelita wasting time like girl you’re RIGHT in front of the tower and the monsters are shooting elsewhere GO INSIDE AND DEACTIVATE IT
I would say that the stats were rigged a little because the whole point of going to lyoko is to protect Aelita when she does her job and that we all know damn well that she can’t protect herself and I’m pretty sure everyone knows that already
At first I was wondering how birds could have nearly killed her....then I watched the scene on The Birds where Melanie gets attacked in the attic and it's literally the same thing that happened to Yumi...if Code Lyoko added blood, this would be a truly even more horrifying episode...

Fun ending. Nice ep.
Johnny has a crush on Yumi. His height is like her leg height.
14:51
Nice wink Aelita!!!
15:42 a rather dark image.
Poor Yumi.
lets see Jeremy, you forgot to subtract something from aelita's lyoko score. lets see, oh, how about the fact that see DESTROYED 2 SECTORS
Gino Gamboni no dude destroying sectors really add to the monster kd count

Johnny is reminding me of one of my exes. And boy would he annoy me to no end. Ugh, asking my fellow co workers if they've seen me or if I'm working that day. Then he would follow me to the break room at work. I snapped at him several times and I was ready to go to management to report him.
Jeremy: That's strange, the crow's migration pattern is nowhere near this location. It's as if they were all summoned here, but why?
Ed: EVIL TIM HAS BECKONED THEM!
EDDDDDDDDD!!
14:47 aelita is such a cupcake. I love her
1: This episode turned into a Alfred Hitchcock film "The Birds" 🐦.
This was a very good episode.
Mm... Remember that movie "Birds"? ;)
As a fellow lover of older women, i respect Johnny's hustle
Let them devirtualize you and YOU launch the return in time
5Head
Aelita: Destroys one crab and 2 hornets before literally deleting the entire sector
Ulrich: Destroys 4 crabs. Follows this by destroying 3 hornets and a manta without his saber.
Jeremy: AeLiTa Is ThE gReAtEsT
Haha ofc thats biased
I love how the XANA attack starts 10 seconds into the episode.
This episode has a pretty huge inconsistency. We know that Aelita can devirtualize on Lyoko now without any problem, and before Aelita was possessed, she deactivated the tower. So why didn't Ulrich use that stone spike and devirtualize Aelita before she got to the tower?
thought the same thing, def woulda been a lil graphic
They were afraid something bad might happen to Aelita if they did a return to the past while she was possessed by Xana; maybe they thought devirtualizing her could also be dangerous while she was possessed. At least, Ulrich didn't want to do it without asking Jeremie.
Nice to know you guys like Foo Fighters in France.
Scsigs what?!
You guys are just jerks
Be nice
Scsigs this episode made a refencee to the movie birds
Man I was hoping Code Lyoko had some Green Day :(
OMFG 1 billion per square meter thats like stuffing 100000000000000 hamsters in 1 cage
6:21 The sound the symbol in their eyes makes is SO COOL!
14:42
Aelita keeps racking up those savage points.
6:46
Odd has a lot of fans! Hahaha!
7:34
"Ouch......now that's got to hurt."-Ulrich. No but seriously that has to hurt. Ouch!
This was a good episode! I love it.
14:42
Especially that Aelita and Ulrich had more screen time of them talking to each other even if she was under Xana's control. I find their friendship wholesome.

Curse u animation error.
binge rewatching
This was a pretty huge stepback for Ulrich's character and what he was established to be, it was established that Ulrich does legitimately care about Yumi. even to a point where he launched a return to the past without Jeremy and the others knowing, but in this episode, he tells this kid to follow her around. and thinks that was he's doing is funny
and because the ending is rushed, his apology doesn't feel sincere in the slightest
But I would say William is a better pick for Yumi than Ulrich.
say it with me: yumi being bullied by xana
+ yumi got the "jump through glass" thing down perfectly
The stats are wrong. Aelita killed barely two monsters and she got xanafied and deleted desert sector. She should've gotten minus points for that. Urlich killed over ten monsters and three of them without his saber!! Jeremy is clearly biased haha
ulric was like say it or ill trip you! when he was stoppin possessed aelita.
“Hey Yumi, you know what a group of crows is called? *A MURDER!* “
Oh the good old days..

It was smart what xana did wait till aelita deactivate the tower and then attack jeremie to capture aelita
I agree.
Damn Ulrich was a jerk in this episode, and to think I defend him in the lotto ticket one. XD That being said he does get the job done on Lyoko.
8:19 reminds me when I walk outside into the Walmart parking lot
I guess you'd rather not talk about it
i like how at the beggining aelita was riding a scooter, just like jeremy. Now she has learnt how to ride the skateboard
and it shows her riding the overwing on lyoko instead of the overboard in those little intermission animations where it shows one of the chars and their name
I love it when XANA actually wins.
Ahh, Odd has seen The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock! A man of class I see!
Still waiting for a DVD release. Ooo, or a Blu-Ray release! That would be sick!
i don't believe that
Yami Givo It does, but production stopped once MoonScoop tanked. Its not available on Amazon anymore.
bryntheace then where is it available
Yami Givo It's not since it's out of production.
Telling a Japanese girl (while trying to flirt (when you’re 2-3 years younger than her)) “I like Manga’s, I bet you know some good ones.”
Seems really suspect.
Also his pronunciation... Ugh
14:46, burn from Aelita
RebelToonz Savage level 100000 aleita this is why she is my fave character
Hey, that's kill-stealing, Aelita! 😂
Hahaha Jeremy's face afterwards " looks like I got me a badass
At least they finally acknowledge again that Lyoko really is like a giant video game (a really dangerous and life-threatening video game, but still).
Oh WHAT? No way--Aelita didn't even have a weapon for the past two seasons, how could she get the most kills?
I smell a conspiracy
The stats are for the last few weeks
14:18-14:30 WTF Odd!? Instead of talking about yourself, you should be more focusing on the attacks of the crabs but no you just had to brag about yourself and that's what you get you don't pay attention to the attacks during battle.
Yami Givo Odd always brags, remember in "Bragging rights" his friends call him pretentious so they test him by betting to see how long he can go without bragging
Darth Stalker yes I recall that episode when he went through a day with no bragging
Yami Givo At the end of the episode, he loses the bet by bragging on how quickly he took a shower
Wow, Odd just got "murdered" get it? because it is a flock of crows?
Ginger in a Jacket see ya self out -_-
Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds vibes! I remember one time I noticed a customer who is terrified of birds freaked out when she noticed a bird flying inside the store.
those birds nuts this is like the closest xana came to really messing one of the main chars up & it was able to destroy another sector too
I find it annoying that 'Jeremy' basically declared 'Aelita' as the _best_ "Lyoko Warrior"; even though the competition was just between 'Ulrich' and 'Odd' and she had nothing to do with it, he only made her the winner because he's in love with her. : /
If she's so "superior", then how come she can't _defend_ herself very well?!
I think it's just a joke dude. Chill
Ikr im mad even if its a joke
Also, the stats were from the past few weeks. Meaning Aelita most likely killed more monsters than both Odd and Ulrich in the weeks leading up to this episode. Lol.
7:12 Aelita using a skateboard instead of a scooter
10:57 Odd and Ulrich bicker about stats and bad grades
13:23 Ulrich takes out a monster
14:16 Odd bragging
17:38 Johnny tells Yumi that Ulrich told him to follow her, Yumi calls Ulrich jealous and dumb
19:50 & 20:40 Ulrich uses a makeshift saber
21:03 Code XANA for the desert sector
22:35 Johnny apologizes to Yumi for Ulrich
Xana was way more strategic when he possessed crows than he was when he possessed rats and hornets.
Damn 3 ads in one episode. I was lucky during my childhood. Can't remember my favorite show was interrupted by ads back then
Vincent Bos Considering how commercials were definitely a thing back then, there would have been even MORE ads than just 3.
lol
The entire reason these episodes are 22-24 minutes long is so the tv stations could show 6-8 minutes of solid ads. And because DVR wasn't established yet, there was no way to skip. This show definitely got interrupted by ads back in the day.
6:47
Holy shit, did those birds immediately all attack Odd like that?
5:30 was that a Hitchcock reference?
HiMyNameIsPip yep
I can't believe odd was so brave enough to get attacked by a group of X.A.N.A crow
Ulrich is so handsome when he's doing in this episode!😍
Oh I know right all the ladies in Kadic find him attractive true fact.
2:55 that's not mean, that is hilarious.
Darth Revan I agree
not in my opinion, since it Yumi sent to the hospital!
Kim Willbee but she would have been attacked anyways so Ulrich actually saved her.
Johnny's the kind of guy who walks into a room full of his superiors and not only claims that he will be bedding everyone's significant others, but demands that they help him do it. Johnny's the type of thug to leave a body count wherever he goes. I'm scared of Johnny.
Lmfao everyone immediately told him it was a dick move to tell that little kid to follow Yumi around 😂
Ulrich's I don't believe this
When the monsters snatched aelita he super sprinted
At the same time me going damn!
Uh uh go get her!
Love this series thank you for loading it for everyone to watch
At first I was wondering how birds could have nearly killed her....then I watched the scene on The Birds where Melanie gets attacked in the attic and it's literally the same thing that happened to Yumi...if Code Lyoko added blood, this would be a truly even more horrifying episode...
23:06 Absolute bullshit. Aelita is totally useless on her own. The prize should go to Ulrich.
Vigor The Sloth I think it only goes back a few weeks, and it also factors how many times you de devirtulized. Or it’s just to shut them up
Not if you give her an Overboard. Did you see her shredding when she was on her own in that one episode?
Did anyone else felt hela sorry for Yumi at 10:12?

Ya'll gotta realize when they said Aelita was the best they were completely screwing w/them. It's easy to tell by the look on their faces
Aelita outclassed them? Oh yeah, probably because she keeps killing THEM.
