- CODE LYOKO - EP65 - Final Round
William has joined the gang of Lyoko warriors. He can’t wait to go into his first combat to take on XANA and the virtual monsters! The others try to curb his enthusiasm: XANA is a far more dangerous adversary that William can imagine. At that, each of them returns to manage their academic demands. But quickly XANA goes on an attack to wipe out Lyoko once and for all. For one reason or another, Jeremy, Odd, Ulrich and Yumi all find themselves unable to leave Kadic Academy. Only William and Aelita are able to go to Lyoko to fight against XANA, and so they do. But once William arrives in Sector 5, he lets his bravado get the better of him and ignores Aelita’s advice. As a result, the pair is separated and XANA is able to take possession of the boy. When Yumi, Ulrich and Odd finally make their way to Sector 5, they find themselves pitted against William who has become the super-powerful general of XANA’s army. They must fight against him to spare the Heart of Lyoko from certain destruction… can they do it before it’s too late? - บันเทิง

It really isn't wasted potential. William being possessed so the best thing for Code Lyoko. If he stayed on their team then Code Lyoko would be boring. William was strong and being on their team would make Xana seem less of a threat. I like that they William was so childish and stubborn on lyoko which caused him to he xanafied. Him being a villian made his Badass and Op meter even higher.
The tension between Ulrich and his father is so well done...Ulrich just sits there and takes it until his father comes after his friends. THAT'S what sets him off.

Ofcourse he thinks they're all anoying, because they sabotage xana's missions, but I think xana william partly hold some character trades of the real william.
Ulrich's dad makes it easy to dislike him. He's your son, not an investment! Ulrich standing up for his friends really shows how much he cares about them

@Anthony Lopez In france we don't have the same system for college like USA we don't spend millions of euro to go in college and even if Ulrich is good in sport it's not like america if you want succeed and go in college you have to work hard in class for this, scholarships aren't giving for free because you know play soccer or karatee and don't talk about exams they are really difficult in France, after I think the show has exagerrated I have never seen a dad acting like that with his son, I mean my dad is an ex military I wasn't so good in class and he wasn't tough with me. Don't forget it's just a show and not reality

I like this part of the story because it's the first time they really, truly lost.
Xana stole the keys to the kingdom and had a few minor victories in the past, but no permanent damage was ever done. No lives were ever lost or damaged beyond repair.
Until this day.
I agree about all those facts.
After Xana escaped from the supercomputer when he stole the keys from Aelita and killed her (until her father rescued her) and went into the network he seems more dangerous, ruthless, cruel, conniving and powerful than he ever was when he was bound to the supercomputer.
The only good things about Xana not being in the super computer anymore is that every return trip to the past will no longer increase his power to folds like it used to when he was still bound to the super computer and he no longer can hold Aelita’s memory fragment of her childhood and family after he stole it and her father gave it back to her.
@@carmensandiego328well argueably xana up until he escaped was just toying with them. He needed them to launch returns as often as possible to gain power. He used aelita as a hostage for 2 whole seasons to that end.
Id argue that he could probably posses people for a while before he actually did just to get a few extra. Then when he reveals it they stop doing return trips as often, so he starts doing things that just inconvenience them if they don't return. Which builds until the end of season 3 when hes destroying lyoko.
After he escaped he barely had to worry about them. Until they developed the skid and rebuilt lyoko but by that point he had William under his control.
The only issue I have with his plan is I think he should have captured aelita (thrown her into the digital sea) before destroying lyoko, just to have a perfect victory. Or at the very least after they recreated it start focusing on capturing the others when convenient instead of hyper focusing on aelita. Often xana seems to over extend hyper focusing on her when usually odd is right there basically asking to be thrown into the digital sea.
I also wish we got to see more things like when xana flooded the mountain sector, but on the replikas.
Every season ended with a fail for the warriors. Even Season 4.
@@GumSkyloard to be fair, season 1 ended with a dub for the crew, because they finally managed to virtualize Aelita onto the real world, which made X.A.N.A attacks more personal and centralized on her, instead of constant danger of cataclysm in every episode (read: all of season 1 episodes except last three).
This was always one of my favorite episodes, but rewatching it again made me feel really bad for William, don't get me wrong he should've ran and I also think the group should've informed him about lyoko more, but that's besides the point. What makes me feel bad for him is that he just wanted to help his friends with their troubles on lyoko, he didn't intend on getting captured and because he was excited to help them he got possessed for it and became xanas slave, forced to kill his friends and tarnish their missions against his will like he was brainwashed. I think season 4 was the best because of his villainy, but it's still sorta tragic to me that this happened to him.

Right? He barely got a chance to prove his worth, just look at him. First time on Lyoko and he man handled 9 creepers all on his own in under a minute which is basically why X.A.N.A wanted him... He didn't even know what the schiphazoa was, just a giant jellyfish to his eyes and boom he gets possessed thinking it's just a weak monster he could defeat just like the creepers. They should've explained to him before he set foot on Lyoko what the consequences were going to be. Oh well, he's still the most powerful Lyoko warrior!
Ryan Caragher Get your facts straight you fucking idiot. It really isn’t William’s fucking fault at all. Sure he may have been a bit stupid for not listening to Aelita and Jeremie, but if they would’ve just given him more details about X.A.N.A. and Lyoko _(the info they gave William earlier really wasn’t enough since they didn’t even tell him that the world is at stake)_ prior to him getting virtualized for the very first time... THE FIRST FUCKING TIME EVER, he would’ve listened and he never would’ve gotten possessed. Keep in mind that William killed the shit out of 9 Creepers very easily, so therefore, it’s understandable as to why he would think that he could take on the Scyphozoa all on his own.
Guys theyre all like 14-15 years old. In what universe would teenagers think to give a step by step tutorial on every prospect of Lyoko. They obviously thought they'd have more than just one trip to lyoko to train him up. He should have listened to them when they told him to hang back and watch and learn. William is a sweet simple guy.

Todd Brown lmao You think they'd make the fact that Yumi cares about William being stuck on lyoko "in the open" while Ulrich is in the picture? Hell no.
That's why they show it subtly that she does miss him a lot after he's gone. As evident in the ending of this episode when she is concerned and asks Jeremy if William is dead. And in episode 71. Yumi gets sad that William is actually lost in the network and Ulrich gets mad that she misses William (wtf??) There's also episode 73, which is self explanatory.
That's not really explanation as much as an excuse.
I believe it Yumi is in love with Ulrich not William.

The fact that Ulrich's dad hasn't talked to him in a year and is now yelling at Ulrich about his grades is sad.

Samantha is to blame for not giving Ulrich's message to Odd since he is the first one available before Ulrich and Yumi. He
would've been able go help Aelita and William sooner and prevent William from being caught by the scyphozoa. They can chat or message each other on their phones even when they're not together.
Kin Ho I'm not sure about that either way, they'll never see each other again. What could've been better, if Xana didn't attack and the episode could've gone better

this was just like a combo of the worst crap happening. and i swear xana saw William and was like "OOoh.... SWORD. I think i'll take that."
but the little things just snowballed.
-No one fully explained the seriousness of the situation to William. No one told him xana could take control of him.
-William was overconfident and didn't seem to understand that if he failed his mission, he'd die, and aelita didn't even begin to explain that.
- Ulrich should have walked out sooner, but there wasn't much he could do.
- Sam was UNBELIEVABLY SELFISH.
-Odd was dumb to think that ulrich would just leave without a word, and should have checked in with jeremy
-Jeremy should have said "THE THING CAN POSSES YOU OR STEAL YOUR MEMORY AND KILL YOU, GET THE HELL OUT!!!"
-No one attacked william when they had the chance.
-never leave the rookie with the damsel in distress. it never goes well.

Damian luke I personally like this episode alot, but the flaws you noted are pretty true, I don't understand how everyone just completely blames William and not the group for the lack of info they gave him, yes when told to run he should've run, but at the same time more knowledge before hand could've been what made him run instead he badly misjudged the situation and got possessed for it

Jeremy shouldve ditched the interview much sooner as well.
I feel like the moment they scanned William they should have went to sector 5 for a trial run with everyone there. William would have gotten a feel of the world, the objective, and the roles each member have. It wouldn't have been a waste because Aeleta could have gotten more info in Franx Hopper, and killing some Xana monsters could have delayed Xana from attacking the core of Lyoko which would allowed them to be free for the remainder of their busy day.

@@k.hibiki2175 Well, they only deal with Creepers and Mantas in Sector 5, but the Schypozoa in particular should've been mentioned after William got his scan. Sure it usually goes for Aelita. but it did target Yumi once, so XANA is prone to shake things up.
In hindsight it wouldn't have hurt to have at least try to get William to pay attention. Maybe the night before Jeremy could have given him homework lol

@Robofabio 5050 The problem is the devirtualization process takes too long to go through, so Jeremy likely would not have had enough time to devirtualize him before the scyphozoa got him, and even if he did have enough time, the core of Lyoko was still in danger and with Ulrich, Odd, and Yumi MIA, he likely didn’t want to risk not having William there to help in case he could have gotten out. And even if he did devirtualize William, the scyphozoa could have easily gone after Aelita next, and that would be even worse since Aelita is A. Jeremy’s girlfriend, and B. The only one of the group who can deactive towers. If she got captured and enslaved instead of William, then even if they could manage to recreate Lyoko after that, they would still be unable to fight X.A.N.A. because the only one who could deactivate towers was under X.A.N.A.’s control

This is the part of the show that pissed me off as a kid. I was super excited when I found out that William was gonna be Lyoko warrior...only to have him become Xana's bitch throughout most of the series. That's really upsetting :/

Ulrich looks like his mom in the episode when they're on vacation. But his dad looks like he's the strong muscular built type. So he has features of both parents.

what I don't get is, if they can be virtualized right into sector 5, why didn't they take William there for some practice before an actual XANA attack? He could've gotten the excitement out of his system and been focused on the mission when the time came
because there's a 8-hour virtualization limit. However, if they had taken him in and trained him, he wouldn't have been able to go on this mission because of the limit, and life would be better
Damian luke Since when is there a virtualization limit? I never heard anything about that, except for Evolution when you have to wait for 12 hours before you could go back to Lyoko.

It's kinda understood. The reason why they don't go back. It isn't explicitly stated though. my comment is a rough estimation based on how things tend be set up. Jeremy often makes comments on when they'll return to lyoko on days they wouldn't have class and stuff, so i just used those as references. they all seem to be ~8 hours apart, though this time seems to become negligent if a return to the past is done.
I believe the cooldown period of 12 hours is accurate with the exception of a return to the past trip of course. Which wouldn't have been possible during this attack as William was under X.A.N.A.'s spell and the core was under attack.
Eh, they rushed Xana possessing William, he makes a good enemy but it bugs me they rushed it. Oh well. *shrug*
I know right. I wish they replaced some of the filler episodes, like 3 Odds, with episodes where William were a good guy

these kids need a code word for "we're going back in time anyway". As soon as anything "go back in time" worthy happens they need to send this out. Under this they can break all social norms, tell anyone about the super computer, do anything. After this is sent out- you have a big soccer game? "screw it. you'll do it again anyways". Need to take a test? "screw it. time travel." Jim in your way? "screw it. take him with you."
Brady Roose accurate XD seeing how XANA isnt part of the super computer anymore he dosent gain power from going back in time anymore so why not abuse the hell out of it like season 1
just because xana isn't connected to the super computer doesn't mean that it doesn't make him more powerful. at least not in their world.

I don't think potential wise he is compatible to William at all. William didn't have that kind of potential William was just a cool lyoko warrior that liked yumi.

You seem to be missing to be missing the point entirely DBZFAN. Both willam and Adam were built up as more then just a one dimensional villain but turned out that way do the authors either being lazy or incompetent . What makes willam worse is that where Adam was dead on arrival we actually had a season showing that potentially he could have had once that past romance subplot. You saying you like him better villain is irrelevant since there are people who like the way Adam turned out. In end both characters could turned out differently.
It's a real shame that William didnt enter the group earlier and grow with them.
I think if he had joined while lyoko had at least the mountain sector left, he could've had time to fight- with the team- on both fronts. That's all it would've took, in my opinion, to make William a reliable character. Of course that's not what the writers were gonna do

Here's an explanation of why William became Xana's warrior.
Of course it was William's first time in the Lyoko and his ego got the best of him. He had so much power that Xana himself saw that William had potential so Xana wanted that potential and power and made it his own so he took over William. Eliminating the Lyoko Warriors one by one there was no one who can stop him, thus destroying the core, Lyoko and William. Deep in the Lyoko, William was brought back from the brink of deletion from his essence and William became Xana's warrior. And that my friends, is the explanation.
They could have explained more to him. He probably wanted to impress them.

William is no bad person or narcissist at all (besides when he’s Xana’s possessed army General and weapon) but he definitely let his ego get the best of him like you said.
William also still had no idea how dangerous and deadly Xana really is.
At least Jeremy and Aleita were able to have data to fix it.
It would've been better if William got to do a couple of missions before getting xanafied, like for a season finale. After going on a couple of missions and forming true trust and friendships for a season finale its only William and Aelita left on lyoko, the others out of commision, Aelita had left to deactivate the tower and while she did William was outside standing guard. Then the screen would alternate between Aelita rising and the scyphozoa lifting william, as Aelita walks over to the interface the panel shifts to william getting hacked, and then as Aelita bows her head and says tower deactivate it shifts over to william lying lifeless and still on the ground. Aelita walks out of the tower only to be met with a kick to the side sending her to the ground. Looking up she sees William, a fellow lyoko warrior, accompanied on hundreds of missions, xanafied. Before she can utter a word she is cleaved in two by his sword, devirtualised, and sent back to the real world. The team is quiet, silently leaving the factory one by one, days turning into weeks of grief and mourning, blaming themselves for the kidnapping and forced survitude of their friend. Having more and more drive each and every encounter to get him back.

Let’s break down all the things it took for Xana to win.
1. Ulrich’s dad had to show up and keep him occupied
2. Jeremy had to be harassed by the reporter girls
3. Yumi’s brother had to keep her at home and constantly blackmail her
4. Sam has to not tell Odd about the SOS AND Odd has to miss Ulrich and his dad in the gym
5. William had to run off on his own and the room had to rearrange JUST right so he could get possessed.
Without all that, Xana would’ve likely failed because the warriors would’ve been there in force. Xana is the luckiest SOB ever

Luck doesn't matter much when he could bide his time for the next busy day of theirs. It becomes inevitable.
The only thing crazy on this day is why Milly and Tamiya insisted on filming Jeremy instead of the skateboard rally.
But that’s the thing isn’t it?
For the good guys to win they have to be lucky everytime.
For the bad guys, they just need once.
And that’s what this was. One bad day where luck was in XANAs side.
Although side note, the thing with Ulrich and his dad was more organic than you might think. His grades have been a theme all through this season.

I guess in the episode Mr. Puck when Xana possessed Jeremy to kidnap his number one mortal enemies love of his life Aelita to deliver her to the Scyphozoa for the keys Ulrich and Odd told the girls that his Avatar looked ridiculous when they had to go battle Xana’s monsters on Lyoko so Xana won’t be able to ever possess him ever again.
Even though Xana never repeats his attacks twice he would’ve several times try to posses Jeremy again because he knows how much Jeremy and Aelita are in love with each other.

Been on a marathon watching this childhood series. This was little me's final episode, I've officially never seen any episode past this point. What a crazy one to cliffhanger on for like 15+ years lol

I've just gotta say I love the opening theme of this show 68 episodes in and I don't feel even the slightest urge to skip it. Also, it's nearly 15 years since I've watched this show and the first time I heard it I remembered all of the words instantly.
One issue tho, i started seeing the many flaws, dont get me wrong tho i love it stil but-
Honestly, I think Yumi and Ulrich (in some weird way) knew William wouldn't be a good fit for the team just from how hot-headed and irrational he can be sometimes, and I don't think anybody would have anticipated how much he would defy orders from Aelita and Jeremy. can you imagine how stressed Aelita must have been knowing the core was getting attacked and the ONLY person that was able to get back to her was William? A Rookie? It was all just one after the other.

I read somewhere that William was suppose to be Aelita's protector- like a guardian angel. That's why he has Mr. Puck's design. Since Mr. Puck means a lot to Aelita, it could've been indicating William's future significance to her as her protecter and such. Very interesting, and a let down that this didn't come into fruition in the show.

It would have been way cooler if instead it was Ulrich who got possessed and became the antagonist of season 4. Then it'll be up to William to fill in the role as the team's sword wielding badass
It would be good emotional drama since the Lyoko warriors would miss Ulrich much more than they currently miss William. Imagine the revelation of them finally bringing him back.
That would've actually been better. Not only would it be all the more tragic, but would add more drama between William and the group. Maybe they indirectly blame him, or he oversteps some boundaries by being a little tactless. it'd be far more painful to walk past the clone of Ulrich because they'd know that isn't their friend- it's just a copy. With William's clone, he was definitely just boring comedic relief. Odd would be depressed, Jeremie would feel guilty, Yumi could be heartbroken- and William, someone who wasn't even wanted on the team at first- could build them back up and be the driving force that not only helps the team regroup but fight Xana to get Ulrich back! Aw man, now I really wish they did that!

Did you not watch the first few episodes of season 2. XANA would be unable to because he can't poccess the lyoko gang because they have resistance to him because they have been fighting him the virtual world for so long.

I didn't like how this season ends. William in Xana's grasp, heroes being held back, and Lyoko gets destroyed. And then a miracle (Franz Hopper) brought hope for heroes. I still feel disturbed when I see Xana William floating in fetal position with that dramatic music. I feel horrible for William. If only he listened to Aelita and Jeremy and take the mission seriously.
The way they keep getting their areas destroyed by XANA, and eventually the most important one, Lyoko's core, is similar to the way they keep losing the league matches in rugby, and eventually lose the match that determines the fate of the team, the replacement match.

Hexan Tran no. I think that XANA wanted him because William was actually one of the more powerful and dangerous members of the team and had the most potential. And XANA knew that so he decided to go for William. But due to William's lack of experience, XANA xanafied him no problem.

Had William joined the group when the mountain sector was still up and had gotten familiar with fighting on Lyoko things could have turned out differently.
The groups decision to have William join late was a mistake, as being a new recruit during an attack on the core was probably the worst time, and one X.A.N.A. took advantage of instantly, resulting in Lyoko's destruction and William becoming X.A.N.A.'s puppet throughout the next season.

Honestly, we could've had an episode prior to this showing William managing to upstage the other Lyoko warriors by saving the core room, showing his usefulness to the crew, but still getting almost as addicted to the action as if he was Sonic the hedgehog, also putting in a bit more searching for Franz Hopper so this doesn't feel so "Last minute" then have relatively the same plot as this episode afterwards with Xana taking control of him, destroying the core of Lyoko after crushing the other warriors, and thwarting the attempt to materialize Franz Hopper, and end the episode with each of the Lyoko warriors on their own for the time being, lamenting over their loss. Have season 4 start up with what Xana is doing with this new freedom and making all these different bases in the real world, then have Jeremy get the message from Franz Hopper as him and the other Lyoko warriors are still depressed over their loss, the episode would then end with Xana catching wind of this and sending William after them, leading into "William returns"
i agree had they done it could of shown xaxa being like okay he's newest one and "weakest" one in terms of skill or rookie status and then that's why xaxa makes the plan to isolate the members one by one and then williams gets captured.

1:10 Being scared of becoming a Lyoko Warrior is really a blessing in disguise. Ulrich is a great addition to the group because he is cautious and knows not to take high risks. He is aware of his limitations. William was overconfident from the beginning, thinking he can take on the virtual world by himself. So he put himself and subsequently the whole group at risk by failing to obey Jeremy when the Schypozoa showed up.
I know that this episodes prime focus was William but the plot line I was most invested in was the relationship between Ulrich and his father
I really can’t blame William for getting cocky over his first trip to Lyoko that much.
I mean, we all would act the way he did, with no idea how dangerous it can be.
But yeah, he should‘ve stayed with Aelita, but why didn’t Jeremy IMMEDIATELY tell him what the Scyphozoa was capable of?
It’s also a shame this was really the only time we got to see William in control in Lyoko (in the original series)
I woudln't. Yumi had informed him that the dream he had of helping yumi was not a dream and in that episode xana tried blow up the factory.
If i knew that was not a dream somebody trying to nuke a factory then i would play games.
Watching this episode again a decade later and while I enjoyed it I never realized how badly this episode was constructed and the last parts of Season 4.1. Yumi didn't want William to join, changed her mind and then going back on her word AGAIN that it was a bad idea.2.WIliam was poorly developed and he should have been a lyoko warrior already I mean for him to join this late and being possessed in the same episode was really underwhelming3.Xana kills everyone and destroys the core easily with the body of a rookie lol4.Franz somehow survives.5.The crazy part about Season 4 was that it exceeded in everything plot settings villians like the Digital Sea and Replikas and Possessed William and trying to save him. to end Season 3 like this is kinda sad when you think about it.
i think that letting william really join the team before making him evil wouldn't work too well. previously he was rarely the bad guy, but he wasn't a good guy ether (remember the zombie episode? sure, he tried to act good, but did it in the worst way possible). he could be a bit of both. making him good before making him bad would make it hard to root against him at times, making him try to be good but turn into something bad is very in character for him.
Now that I'm older, I see this show is something having great potential but poorly written. There are too many plot holes and what was the point of bringing on William if they were going to lose him and be down to the original five in the first place?
I blame budgeting. I always found it strange how Season 3 was half as long as the other seasons. They probably wanted to make William join the group for maybe a mission or two, and then decided that if they did, getting him possessed would be too impossible. For the sake of story for S4, I think they did what they felt they had to do, even if I don't like it much either.
Season 3 is a very quirky season. The others are all more consistent.

I'm almost certain Jeremie was at a crossroads with that decision. Either he leaves William there so he and Aelita can fend off the Scyohozoa together, or he brings William back and leaves Aelita alone to wait for the others' arrival (and as we can see they would've arrived too late). So it's not a lack of critical thinking on his part, more like he genuinely had only two options and neither of them would've been good.

Honestly? How William is treated after his brainwashing makes me angry. After he's freed, he's treated like he's a monster by the group for the remainder of season 4 after he's freed, along with most of Evolution.
What happened to him really wasn't his fault. Other than warning him to keep the secret and hang back a bit, they told him jack shit about Lyoko. They didn't tell him about any monsters, or the consequences of them. Out of all of them, the Scyphozoa should have been the most stressed about just how dangerous it is. It's grabbed both Yumi and Aelita several times and caused a lot of damage, either physically or emotionally. I get that this was a high-risk mission and the others weren't available, but they really needed to wait until there were more of the group available to help. He should have listened, yes, but based on what he saw, and the lack of information, he believed he'd be fine.
Also, the group was pretty hostile to him in the beginning of this episode as well and he hadn't even done anything wrong at that point. Yumi outright distrusting him, and Aelita snapping at him for getting excited about Lyoko. Really, they act like he ran willingly into XANA's arms, when really? Both William AND the group are at fault.

I'm sorry but I think that this was kind of the gang's fault on how William ended up getting captured by Xana. When I first watched this episode back in the day, I put the blame on William's hot-headed attitude but looking back, while it's true that he was hot-headed, the gang were just as much to blame in this situation. They should've explained to William how things work in Lyoko, especially Aelitia since she was alone with him for a good minute or two on their way to the interior in Sector 5. Instead, she just gave him an attitude. If Aelita just explained to him why the Scyphozoa was dangerous and should be avoided, he would've been better prepared. I mean hell, even Jeremy could've warned and filled him in as well but nope, he didn't. I dunno, I just think they really handled things poorly here. :/
Maybe an exaplanation could have helped, but you have to understand that for everyone but Yumi, they entered Code Lyoko with no prior experience either. It makes sense they would have thought he'd instinctively understand the situation's gravity, especially considering his skills in the past.

William got a warning from Aelita and Jeremy, and the group had already told him multiple times about how dangerous XANA is. He was just too arrogant and it's much more his fault than it is the groups.

i feel like they tried to impress the danger of xana onto william but he didn't grasp the seriousness. you see while everyone else is doing normal things, william's practicing fighting in the woods. he's way too excited about something deadly and when he gets to lyoko it's a game to him, a movie set. he wants to fight more monsters because it's fun and he completely neglects the mission. if another member of the gang was there maybe they could've reigned william in but his lack of seriousness immediately frustrated aelita and she left him to his own devices while trying to accomplish the mission. even then when things started looking bleak, william refused to listen to jeremy or aelita because he wanted to have fun killing monsters. he had every chance to realize he was out of his league but continued thinking "i'm the man!"
that's why i really like Yumi's line to william next season "you may be possessed by xana but you're still a rookie when it comes to fighting on lyoko"

I honestly wished William wasn't under X.A.N.A's control all season as it would have been great to see an addition to the group. I know Evolution put back in, but I'm not counting it since a lot of people don't like the season (even though it was good to me)

My two cents on this one. William is more at fault for what he did by a considerable margin. However, they did not tell him about the monsters at all particularly the special types. No training, no tips and tricks, no briefing, no nothing. No one person is responsible for what happened but the main group sure likes to blame it all on him later on. Pretty sick when you think about it.
