    This car serves the purpose it was designed for. I have seen too many "Enthusiasts" complain about it not having AWD or a turbo (Even being strictly manual only). When I read those comments, it made my brain die a little. This is a commuter car, to get from A to B using very little gas in the process. This is not a Ferrari and should not be treated as such.

    Honestly this car is the car you get
    Not for luxury or crazy power(like Roman said)
    You get because it will bring you and or your family where you need to go
    And at the same time not be a complete lemon
    This car is great
    Especially if it's a manual

    Why in 2015 do manufactures still make cars with halogen headlights/tailights... I mean LED's are actually CHEAP.. and they're super efficient and more durable..
    It's little details like headlights/tail lights that make certain cars looks old/cheap.. like this one.

    • @gandalf7292
      @gandalf7292 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Manufacturers still thinks LED is expensive and for premium cars only

      FanaticGuide's Video Game LP's and more...
      What the hell are you talking about? you don't even make any sense.
      I'm referring to the headlights and taillights.. LED's are in fact CHEAP, durable and far more efficient so that alone makes sense to use them instead of halogens.. on top of that they are brighter, cooler (temp), and look about a million times better..
      That's why I say, using halogens in 2015 makes no sense.. the manufacturing cost can not be that much more for LED's to justify it.

    So basically this scion iA is nothing but a rebadged Mazda2, while the iM is nothing but a rebadged Toyota Corolla hatchback, and the FR-S is joint project between Subaru and Toyota. Seems like scion doesn't have the money or the resources to make its own, unique cars. That or Toyota doesn't want them to.

    • @kirbyswarp
      @kirbyswarp 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      97I30T Scion is toyota's leftovers, or someone else's car re-badged.

    • @97I30T
      @97I30T 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      kirbyswarp I can't really say I'm that surprised and I kind of knew that. Scions have never exactly flown out of dealer showrooms, so Toyota probably doesn't want to spend very much money on the brand. But the xB, xD, and TC are cars unique to Scion. Wait, just kidding, those are Toyota's in other countries.

    • @kirbyswarp
      @kirbyswarp 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      97I30T Exactly. Old, outdated Toyotas.

      97I30T yea because us inbreeds get a murica re-badge but its still a toyota product, so I've never considered a scion SCION just another toyota, and what does kirbyswarp drive a honda...?

    is not a Toyota, its a Mazda 2 (DEMIO). and the reason for use de Scion mark in that car is an asociation between Mazda and Toyota.

  • @TaofikiGafar
    @TaofikiGafar 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Great video! Scion did a great job. I like these merger cars: Subaru BRZ & Scion FRS. Maybe it's me but I'm tried of car reviewers comparing the power and throttle of a 16k car to a 50+k car. The average driver cannot afford that. Know your audience. Ppl who buy hellcats aren't watching this video. What's the tank size, how great is it at getting up to freeway speed, passing cars on the freeway, how many ppl can fit comfortably in the car, etc? That should be your baseline. The issue with being too experienced driving hellcats and Ferraris makes you removed from audience normal life experience.

    Is that Skyline Dr in Woodside, CA? That road looks very familiar to me. I think I will drive by there today to confirm my suspicions. Also, forget Scion, it should be released as Mazda 2. That interior is in my 3 and other Mazdas.

    I put 17 size wheels and tires, it looks awesome. If you drive it on manual with sports, acceleration gets way better or even on only manual or on only sports mode.

  • @andyhoov

    I must admit, I'm kind of surprised by how negative so many people's response to this vehicle is. Don't get me wrong, I also think the Scion front end is kind of ugly and would appreciate more power, but the package being offered here really is quite competitive within the segment. The first thing worth noting is that once you get past the badge, you are looking at a Mazda, which means you are getting Mazda's driving dynamics and exceptionally well styled and built interiors. I'm not sure how well loaded the final car will be, but you can clearly see the screen and controls straight from Mazda's lineup, so you automatically know you'll be getting plenty of stuff that would cost extra. Really, when looking at the segment as a whole, I think the iA looks quite compelling, with the biggest competitor probably being a Fiesta with the 1.0 turbo.
    What I would really like to see is some stuff from the Japan spec Mazda2/Demio including a hatchback option and their 1.5 diesel, which also gets about 105 hp but cranks out about 185 lb ft of torque.

    1) 2016 Scion iA 2) 2016 Honda fit 3) 2016 Honda Civic 4) 2016 Mazda3.
    I am having trouble deciding on what car I should get. I have shortened the list down to these 4 cars. If I were to purchase any one of these cars, it would be the base model and automatic. What do you guys think? Which car would you choose and why? Thanks for the feedback. I can't decide!

      Scion iA- Inexpensive transportation from point A to B while being fuel frugal and yet fun to drive. Has a lot of features for 16 grand while keeping a small footprint, but having a big interior.
      Honda Fit - Starting price similar to the iA but not as many features (No touchscreen, alloy wheels, push button start), but a cavernous cargo capacity and stunning looks while keeping a professional composure.
      Honda Civic - As of right now; I believe Honda has issued a stop-sale on the Lx and Ex because of engine issues. Aside from that small issue, the new civic is a game changer for me. Nothing major like trunk capacity or driving dynamics, but this is a top of the line for the class and I would recommend this any day.
      Mazda 3 - Out of all the compact cars in its class; its the best to drive. Thats it. It has its ups and downs, but when I purchased my car (I looked at the 3 as well and found the backseat and trunk almost unlivable). It may be really fuel efficient but dont let that fool you. This car is small on the inside.

    Its not a "joint partnership". Its a straight up rebadged of a Mazda engineered and built product. Slap on an ugly grill and the pathetic Toyota symbol on the engine cover and viola - an instant Scion. Actually, this is a 2015 iteration of my old 1999 Mazda Protege with its 104 HP 1.6 pushing 2400 lbs around. I loved that little car.

      Teddy Brown Its a Mazda built SkyActiv engine with a Toyota cover. The car is 100% Mazda. The only Toyota contribution was handing Mazda the check for them. Its not a bad thing by any stretch - its definitely better than any small Toyota sold in this country. If I needed a new car today it would be on my shopping list.

    People who will buy this car can care less about the handling and acceleration. Its about the features per dollar and this car is excellent when it comes to that. For 16 grand you even get collision mitigation. That is unheard of in this price range.

Really what they should have done if they had a lets make a mazda into a scion bug is remake the mazda 3 into a tc with 4 doors. Really hate to say it as a tc owner but the new scions minus the frs makes it look like toyota is trying really hard to either make scion look like a economy brand or killing them off slowly.

      cassmanio high comp. I was thinking the same thing but if its like that 12.1 it should push out 200 or 220 to the crank, the tc with a turbo on 8psi gets to 280 almost 100 and with a nice tune gets to 300 to the wheels but your shorting the lifespan of the camry engine... still that 12 to 1 got me thinking! which I think roman didn't say it had a comp ratio like that but w/e

    Looking at the interior, this is so obviously a Mazda. But Mazda's exterior designs are way better. Maybe they'll sell it on the whole "it's a cheap sedan with a nice interior" angle. But Toyota was better off cleaning up the Vios and slapping a Scion badge on it instead. Somehow I think it'll be an uphill climb going against the likes of the Accent and Sonic.

    Well, it is not just based on the CX-3, it is actually just a REBADGE of the Mazda 2, a model sold in Latin America and other regions. I personally have been in the Mazda 2, and it is just another affordable subcompact car with small engine, but with nice features... Actually, that whole Scion iA is the. Mazda 2, but with a Toyota badge.
    Sadly, America market is getting the weakest engine available for that car, obviously because it is not the Skyactive version reserved for Mazda models.
    As long it is kept under a reasonable price, it will be sold well.

      DrClaw77 Agree. Why can't they just keep the looks of the Mazda2 just like the FRS/BRZ.

    Looks kinda shit, although good thing it's a Mazda 2 with a different front so get the Mazda front bits imported from Mexico and swap them on it'll look decent.

    Anyone who buys the Scion iA over a Mazda 2 just to save a couple of bucks should have their head examined. The Mazda 2 is a relatively good looking car. The iA is hideous.

    Scion pisses me off. They have a potential all time winner with the FRS but they continue to be dumb about it. As is the FRS with 200hp should be $20k. They would sell out every time at that price & when will dealers understand they will get more repeat business w/o markups. They could easily add 50-100hp making the car even better at the $29k real world price they are charging. & now they produce this? It doesn't even look good. A 4 door FRS would probably be better.

    What is Scion thinking? How is building a lame looking under powered sedan going to bring in young buyers? Did they actually talk to any young people? At least the iM looks good, even if it too could use a few more ponies.

    I hate Scion. It's as a complete waste of a brand that no one gives two craps for and as per JD power have horrible reliability. I hate badge engineering as I see it as a company was too lazy and cheap to develop a car of their own. So you can only imagine how much I hate this car. I hope it proves to be a massive failure and Toyota kills the Scion brand as a result, maybe keep the iM and make it into a Toyota Corolla hatchback, make the FRS into a Toyota GT-86 like the rest of the world, and the tC back into a damn Celica.

      Jonathan Washington If you want a Mazda 2.0, then get the Mazda3. The Mazda 2 was designed to be a cheaper, more compact, more fuel efficient car than the Mazda3, but still have the majority of creature comforts available on the Mazda 3. It doesn't make sense to put the same engine as the Mazda3 into the Mazda2/Scion iA. Although I admit that this 1.5L engine should produce more power than 106 hp.
