people don't realize the goal of this car. it's not meant to be driven around a track or be fast. it is offering a good value for the money and don't expect customers to be racing this car. Atleast its not a CVT.
Angry Whale True, point being it is a reliable, easy to fix nice car that certainly helps you with your transportation needs and the likes, and that actually does look really good at least in my opinion on styling and technology.

Love this car for what does in consideration of what it is made for. No, it won't get you drift points or get you validated by folks whom opinions shouldn't matter, but it'll save you money and not leave you stranded. I think its a solid starter "New" car. The low horsepower will keep you out of trouble and you'll be able to milk it safely just like a 250cc starter bike.
@@johngentile8561 yes the versa kinda sucks reason being it has a shitty cvt. And the spark well it’s a Chevy you can’t expect much…. I think this is the best bet!
I own one of these, they feel very solid and substantial, the driving experience is great for the money.

Definitely need to listen with headphones. Makes a big difference as its audio portion is recorded in a special way. 👍
People don’t realize how fun this little car can be, I drive one on the mountains and this thing can move, it’s almost as light as a Miata, and comes stock with 200 treadwear tires, this thing was fun, and it’s at least a 6 speed auto and not a cvt

I saw this in person at the LA Auto Show last week. It's actually a really nice starter car. The interior was pleasant and there was a lot of room. The Mazda exterior and interior design is in my opinion superior to whatever else Scion could've pushed out. Good choice on Toyota's part to go with Mazda.

I have a 2016 Scion IA and it's been nothing but an excellent car on the highway I get about 42 miles per gallon sometimes a little more if you want to reliable car get this car you will not be disappointed it has never let me down I have 120,000 miles on it
I have this car had it for two years and it’s a very nice car. Drives smooth not hard to keep up the maintenance cheap on gas cheap overall price
Thanks for the review. Point of view is exactly what I like. This looks like a spunky little car. If I bought it probably would get the stick shift.
For that LOW, LOW PRICE its pretty good ! NO CVT ! THANK GOD FOR THAT !!! It seems peppy and fun too.
Much better than taking a risk buying a used car, only to find out a few weeks later that you bought a used wreck that needs thousands of dollars of repairs because the previous driver didn't take care of it properly.
The used car prices these days is insane, you pay so much for something that is literally falling apart, so to have a new car like this where you can buy something so cheap, yet so good, is really nice to have if you are working on a low budget.
Oh sure, Porsche or BMW would be better, but what if you are working at a minimum wage job? If you do then this is your ride.

@@rapidlapse when I bought it for 14k, it was 3 years old with 13,500 miles. It has 31k miles now and I can trade it in for 11k
Nice... Love your videos and nice car. $17.5K with the Auto trans, everything else is standard. Remote Keyless Go, low speed pre collision auto stop. 7 inch touch screen... and a GREAT crash rating from IIHS... pretty good for the money. Wish they offered a hatch version, and it looked a little better.. But pretty nice car for the money.

I only wish it was a Proximity key, seeing it has push button start, they typically go hand in hand. Like on the Prius C 3. However, I can look beyond that for how fun to Drive it is.

Such a love hate relationship with this car. I love it. It has everything I could need. But it resembles a hatch and I don’t like hatch styles. But then again for 15k used cant complain.
Still a great card in 2024 asv a Toyota Yaris. Going on five trouble free years of fun, economical driving. My perfect retirement car, no payments, no repairs and 40+ mpg, and it's fun!

I'll tell you this much the Toyota Yaris iA is hell of a lot more reliable then the Hyundai Accent, which is a vehicle you might want to avoid due to possible reliability issues in the near long term.
I drove one and there fun. Take it over a slowrolla anyday. At least its an actual automatic and not a CVT. And Mazda powertrains are very good :)
Angry Whale - I test drove this, a 2016 Corolla and a 2016 Mazda 3. Ultimately went with the Corolla. This Mazda 2 (basically) was a joke alongside the Mazda 3. 😂
Seems like the motor needs to be over 4000rpm at all times just to be normal with traffic. More than likely after 120k miles, motor's going to start burning oil.
Honestly at the end of the day does it really matter "hur dur toyota can't make a good car they have to steal from Mazda"... In the end, it's a Mazda 2 sedan which is a great car. If I was in the market for a compact sedan, I'd buy one over a Hyundai Accent or something. Yes it's a Scion/Toyota Yaris, who cares. Underneath that ugly front bumper its a Mazda with Mazda qualities and that's what matters most. Unless you really do not want to be affiliated with anything Scion that's naturally aspirated, its a good car.

How peppy is this car? I can't help but notice this car shares the same specs as the Yaris 1.5L 106 HP 103 ft lbs of torque.
The Mazda 2 sedan is offered as this, a Scion iA in the US, and as the Yaris sedan in other countries. It's the same car. For example, here in the Philippines, we have the 2. In Canada, they have the Yaris sedan.

If you get this car in a dark colour the huge front is definitely not as noticable, blends in with the car. I can stand that much better than the light colour!

+Joaquín Navarro Toyota and Mazda has made a partnership where Toyota would get Mazda's skyactive engine while Mazda would get there hands on the Toyota's infamous hybrid technology. So expect Mazda to come out with some type of hybrid car soon.
Also because Mazda didn't want to sell their Mazda 2 here in the US because it's predecessor didn't sell well. This is not the first car Scion didn't complete design and manufactures, the Scion FR-S is another car they sell that's actually the BRZ

Does anyone that own one recommend it?
I own it and I say it's a pretty damn good car. When merging on the highway or whenever you need some additional power, you can go into sport mode. Plenty fast. I find the regular mode is plenty good, though! The backup camera is invaluable. I use it all the time! The car is small but I can quite easily fit my road bike with the front wheel removed through the back with the two rear seats put down. Nice little car.
I have it and love it. I’m a college student and it doesn’t take a lot of gas and easy to fix if the car has any problems. And if you suck at parking like I do, this car is great for you.

cc as in cubic centimeters?, it is a 1500cc engine, and it produces (depending on the market) anywhere from 75 hp to 115 hp (Europe's high octane gas)

I don't think so, the Scion iA is in fact a Mazda2 sedan, thus has a Mazda engine. The Yaris should still have the 1.5 from Toyota... main difference is the high compression and direct injection in the Mazda engine
