+Darrell Long CVT's aren't that bad I drive one on the daily and you really get used to it .. I jump from a 5 speed to a CVT throughout the week and it's actually a great tranny for highway driving you get instant power and you ZIP through .. But I do like my 5 speed for more spirit driving . As the CVT belongs to the Nissan Murano Cross Cab and usually cruise but on 95 I put that bitch in overdrive and Zip past BMW's all the time that 3.5 really pulls strong no wonder Nissan uses it in ALL there V6 configurations it's bullet proof ! Has been since '04 when my gmom gotta silver Maxima 3.5se she still has it and it pulls great!!! But yeah CVT's aren't that bad you had to get used to it i will admit . But once you do you will learn to appreciate the difference

Apparently Scion has to partner with other companies to make something good. First Subaru and now Mazda. The iA is basically a Mazda with Scion badges. All of those parts are from the Mazda's parts bin clearly. The iA is a Mazda3 mini me.

The plus side of the iA. It makes Mazda even more relevant for reliability. Toyota wouldn't tarnish it's rep if they didn't think Mazda engines weren't reliable. It's still ugly as hell.

Toyota is and will always be dominate in the sales market. These particular models will sell very well. These models are not directed to the ricer market. This is the future of daily driver cars. The real driver's car is now in the past and has become history. " Say no to RICE" Lastly the new Toyota Supra that will be coming to the market will be one of the best cars ever made by far. Honda will not be able to compete with it. Vtech is officially boring "Yawn" Toyota for the win Thank God. P.S. just because it's JDM that don't mean rice it up. Kids now a days are so focused on the stance or low look and are dead fixated on drifting "Wack" this is y nice and cool cars don't last there are too many AHoles driving them then crashing them then parting them out after they had there fun. If we want cooler cars that are RWD then responsibility is key to getting America to give us back the Good Stuff. "Keep the rice on the track"

For scooting around to get groceries, dropping the kids off at school, or running out to grab pizza, I would rather take the IA over a minivan. I have a friend who bought one, and he said there is engine noise but the car is fun to drive and easy to park, plus it sips gas. I've owned 3 Tercels, and a Yaris and a Corolla, so maybe I'm biased, but I've never had a problem with any of my cars, except the Corolla which had an aftermarket cruise control that went wonky and revved the engine to max. But the dealership replaced it for free. I think for those of us looking for a zippy second family car would like this.

Too bad this is the only way we are going to get the new Mazda2. Mazda is very quickly taking the market by storm. All the other Japanese automakers are going to be caught with their pants down just like the domestics did back in the 80's and 90's.

Glad to see Scion went out of their way to make the iA as ugly and repulsive as possible. It's a shame because the Mazda2 is such a well developed small "drivers car". Scion left the interior alone and surprise(!) it's fantastic. Mazda designs some of the most visually pleasing and functional interiors around. If you take a look at the new Alfa Romeo Giulia interior you'll find that it looks shockingly like a Mazda, which is not a bad thing at all.

Sorry, But pure built Mazdas, always top reliability charts. And wait for that CVT in the iM to crap out.. Honda Fit is already having reliability issues with the CVT as is everyone else.
Kia topped Honda in Consumer Reports, they stuck with reliable 6spd autos, and still get better mileage.
Same here with the iA. Also car gets TOP scores at IIHS crash tests, and has precollision braking.
I wish it looked a little better. But its fun to drive from what I have read... weighs 2400lbs.. dont need much HP
