    I’m not at all sold on the fact that the Volvo is the benchmark for this class. I would go bananas having to deal with that stupid screen for simple tasks, not to mention the quality problems. The only thing they have going for them is appearance. The interiors look great but questionable quality certainly leaves them way short of a benchmark position.

    by the way you only need to push the top tailgate button and the bottom half will close automatically. PS the reason why they don't have the diesel in north america is cause america doesn't provide the right diesel type in europe and other places that BMW wants in there cars.

    I have a new one. I have had it 3 weeks. It has been in the shop for 2 of those weeks with multiple computer and electrical issues. The service dept at the dealer is working with BMW to find a fix but I have asked for a replacement vehicle. It has been very frustrating to own a $75k vehicle and not be able to drive it.

    Maserati Levante all the way !!! Way more classy, elegant exterior and interior, ride and handling is awesome and compared to I40's 3 liter 340 HP engine has 3 liter 430 hp Maserati/ Ferrari engine. Just upgraded from my Mercedes SUV. Germans these days are not as good as they used to be but the market likes them cause they have lots of tech/gismo crap, which is COOL to have nowadays.

    • @pratik1568

    • @jonny5777
      @jonny5777 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree the tech is a little over the top and in our x5 we use very little of it day to day. I like it because it's super comfortable and you can still hoon it round a twisty road. I bet your Maserati is great to drive and has a brilliant engine but I saw one the other day and I just can't get to grips with the looks. When you compare the company to what it used to be with the quattroporte and the like I just think they cater too much to the emerging markets like China and India and in doing so have lost so much of that Italian cool they used to have.

    • @baileyryanpatrick17
      @baileyryanpatrick17 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You must be blind then because all EVERY review talks about is how bad the NAV is, how cheap the controls are that they literally lifted from Fiat Chrysler! Secondly, to get that 430hp engine you need to buy the Levante S...which STARTS at $85k, which is $25k more than the X540i. Not to mention lacks a TON of the tech in this BMW and has HORRIBLE reliability.

    • @michaln2584
      @michaln2584 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I ain't no blind, I live and breathe, my friend, I live and breath ... and touch, and smell (the leather), and DRIVE oh yes ... and handle... the corners, and smile (: and appreciate the harmony of the design....... go for your trendy X 5 and enjoy your ride.
      Chrysler components, what ??? You mean window switches, ya, they are the same, so are the ones in a 130 K Merc GLS 63 AMG !!!! have you researched that ??? , how about Paolo Martinelli Ferrari Maserrati designed engine, Maserati chassis design, suspension design, Koni shocks, and overall mechanical quality ??? If that is from FIAT Chrysler OK, if that is FIAT QUALITY , I will take it ALL THE TIME !!! no problem, just as I will take any Ferrari or Maser from Fiat Chrysler as you say, over any BMW. BMW used to be a premium manufacturer, now they make X1s ............ and so on, and Mercedes makes A , B class etc, enjoy upper mild class cars (: , nothing wrong with that, just different market nowadays.
      PS. NOT EVERY reviewer ... only ENTERTAINERS like D M and so on.
      I have had many BMW's including the first X5 back in 2000, few Mercs and Rovers and an Audi Q7, now 2018 Lavante SQ4 (: It is an awsome car, but it might not be your taste, that is fair to say, just like a ribeye beef steak, my not be your thing, you might be a vegan, everything in live is RELATIVE !!!!
      I like classic beauty, and Italian quality design, flair, style, and German precision and Bordeaux wine, and Swiss precision watches, and Swiss cheese, yes please ..., you should get the point by now (: (: (:
      Cheers from Canada !

    • @RichDunn
      @RichDunn 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Had my XC90 T6 Inscription (21's, Air S, etc) from new and covered 20,000 miles in it. Only problem so far has been intermittent interior creaks dependent on climate changes. I'd prefer a fully loaded top spec X5, but they cost more. So we make our choice and pay our money.

    • @Wasabi9111
      @Wasabi9111 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      AJ Lee I completely agree. In addition to poor reliability. I found the car extremely noisy and no better than a $40,000 non-luxury crossover. The road, engine, wind noise were disappointingly loud for a luxury crossover.

    • @shunt8084
      @shunt8084 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My Xc90 is doing just fine, thanks. Not a 0-60 vehicle, but the 4 banger with the Polestar tune has more than ample passing power and transmission performance. All that said, the new Bimmer looks sharp and looks to have some performance chops. But it will run the price north of $10k equally optioned with an XC90.

    Touchscreen is old technology now. Knobs and click buttons are the way of the future like that of the laptop computer! That is why Apple did not put “touch” on their screen. Smartphones will follow and go to rotary knobs and click buttons in a few years from now too. Why? Touchscreen are just to complicated to use. Not everyone has a PH D in computer sciences. You need at least 5 years of touchscreen training to begin actually doing a single touch on a touchscreen. Knobs are known! Cheap to produce too. No membrane which adds to the cost. People love indirect interfaces too. They love working with mechanisms like devices instead of direct contact interfaces. It is about dials, rotary knobs and touchpads! Welcome back to familiar!

    :18 seconds you say Volvo! LMFAO! Why do you mention Volvo first..they didn't invent this class and IMHO are NOT the benchmark. If you read Consumers Report in fact far from. Not even recommended. The new X3 which is the same size as the old X5 has the highest rating of any SUV. Off road package. Most people spending close to or over $100K for this vehicle will not take it off road. Save your $$...buy the M upgrade package with Xline and that's it.

    gesture control is the dumbest idea in a car, it's poorly conceived, it's not executed well, looks dumb doing it. IF looks dumb doing it, who is going to use it.

      Dima K lmao you feel the need to bash every car don’t you. Stfu and go back to your POS Altima. Literally the only three words in your vocabulary is “NISSAN”, “ALTIMA”, and probably “STEROIDS”.
