I took delivery of the new X3 G01 last year August. I love the car, and as I've been leasing BMWs since 2006, have got used to all the iDrive functions. Now, I can operate any of the functions without looking at or using the touch screen. Very intuitive and definately the best on the market at the moment. Love you r style of reporting 👍

You would swear the Q7 is the only rival for the X5
Correction to your statement regarding all wheel steering: at low speed makes the rear wheels turn in the OPPOSITE direction to the front wheels and at higher speeds, over 80km/h in the SAME direction as the front wheels

My friend has the q7. Air suspension had a problem in 8k miles had to change it. It was covered under warranty but he had his car in service for 4 weeks.
BMW invented this category and now owns it again with the new G05 X5. I drove all the new luxury SUV’s, the X5 is more cutting edge tech with unbelievable opulence yet still drives like a BMW athlete. BMW upped their build quality so much over the last generation X5, you hardly can believe it’s the same vehicle.
I'm really digging that interior color/time combo! Need to find the name of that trim!

At low speed rear wheels turn in opposite direction not the same as front ones.

The angle in the beginning of the video - the gap between the headlights and the bonnet makes it look like been in an accident.
Just in case you didn’t know, drivers assistant will be unavailable or reduced in heavy rainy day. Usually happens at night.

There seems to be a weird gap between the headlights and the bonnet.
not sure about the bonnet gap, but the one between headlights and grill is future proofing; to make the grill bigger for next revision to satisfy those who complain that its too small.

Split tailgate is great idea, all manufacturers should at least offer it as an option, if you always have dogs in the back like I do, it stops them trying to get out as soon as the door starts to lift.
You need to train your dogs better! Mine won’t jump out unless I tell him.

The vehicle however performs well and dealer service is excellent.

X1 - Q3, X3 - Q5, X5 - Q7, those are similar sized vehicles

Gosh Audi Q7 fan boy.......unfortunately Audi is just like a estate car its so low to sit in..., X5 has far better seating height...oh I own an Audi Q7 and have just test driven BMW X5
I would say that was changed with the newer X5. Other than that you made the right choice given what was already on the market but now this is the leader.
Funny.... I’m in the same boat. I have a 17 Q7 and dearly miss my old X5. Looking to buy this new model soon. The higher seating position and the response and overall connected feel is amazing on BMWs. I always thought that my old 2015 X5 felt like it had a soul. 🤣❤️
Alan Wayte yep, true we have a 2017 q7 and now the 19 x5 .. After driving my x5 the q7 seems so short. However, both have a great ride and drive .

Yes and Audi’s are basically Volkswagens with a little more leather and slightly more tech but with a different badge. They both have the same engine and same parts only Audi listing their cars at around 60k. But, the x5 is completely made by bmw and does not share any parts or components with any car except the new 5 series (which is still a luxury car so Audi fanboys keep ur mouth shut 🤐) which is why the x5 drives a lot more sporty then the Audi and more smoother then the Audi and why the Audi is more practical only cause it’s a “people’s car”.
Im afraid that anyone releasing a diesel in London right now has played themselves out of the market. There's too many disadvantages with all the new daily taxes against them that the only Cars worth buying now are Electric moving forward.
Im keeping what ive got until the Audi E-Tron, Tesla Y and M-Byte are released this year before I make my mind up.
Looking at anything else would be a waste of time in London.
have you any thoughts on what you may wish to purchase in the future? I have a BMW 335D x drive on lease and I just love its style - a wolf in sheep's clothing that can do 0 -62mph in 4.9 seconds along with 37 mpg. But. As I grow older and crankier (60+ female with a love of speed, and blasting off lesser cars at traffic lights) I am looking to be a bit more sensible. Can electric, at this moment in time satisfy that need? That is, without looking like a Nissan Leaf nerd?

The audio system in the X5 is do good you real do not need Apple CarPlay. I never use it in mine.

why do I have to pay for Apple Car-play after just a year of using such an expensive vehicle. That's aside the fact Android Auto is not available (considering Android has more users than iOS). This is a nice SUV but some of the cost cuttings in the infotainment leaves a lot to be desired when cars from lower price groups already offer Apple car play and android auto as standard.
I think BMW shied away from android due to data security...
Didn’t mention that every time you get out of the car your trousers clean the cill. Not very practical.
Both arms on the rear boot door failed on my BMW X5 while is still on warranty made lots of noise on not so rough roads waiting on the dealer to replace them until then had to park the vehicle. Poor quality and much inconvenience on a car not six months old.

chillout1109 they watch your behavior for signs of sleepiness and also make sure you’re alert at the wheel. This has to do with the autonomic features

Oh yah, thanks. I remember now. It's the optical camera for the BMW X5 *Extended Traffic Jam Assistant System* that monitors the driver's attention.

Air suspension comes as standard, just not on the one his driving .
Am i the only one who thinks the previous gen looks much better. I have the m50d of that gen and am cautious of upgrading becuase of the new looks. The back looks like a Kia ffs.

But it's not out yet so the M50d is top of the range

mickyeverton not sure whether you live in England? They still fly out here. It’s the economy despite the differential in petrol v Diesel pump prices. Diesel still wins that one, especially on the SUV’s
People buying this type of vehicle are not bothered about the size of the Boot
Trouble is the X5 looks no different from previous models, glass area way too tall still which makes it look really dated. Sure it drives well but the looks and styling are dismal.

How can the X5 be great , you need an apple and android phones to communicate with it , oh and 4 wheel steering sounds great , well until you scrub out a set of tyres every 6000 miles at a grand a time , epic fail , I’d rather spend £80k on the new Audi E-Tron .
DON'T BUY!!! Worst car I have ever driven -- this car told me powertrain malfunctioning and just shut itself off on a high way. BMW North America, after investigated for a month, told me nothing they can do. So called luxurious car -- what a joke!
