More mistakes, Not using the right key fob and having settings change on you. Changing air pressure in your tires as the weather gets cold. Accidentally choosing the guest profile when asked to select a profile. Knowing that there is no spare tire with run flat tires. Don’t store the key fob too close to the car as it will run down the key fob battery. Making sure you change the battery in the key fob every couple of years. If you are having unknown issues with the infotainment system, not knowing that it can easily be reset by pressing the volume button and holding it for 30 seconds. For Spotify that you need a premium account to use it. BMW making electric vehicles. The number 1 mistake is not enjoying the car enough. It’s a pleasure to drive, enjoy every mile. Almost enough for a second video. Great videos, I really enjoy them.
Wow! I just purchased my x6 with an executive package and you showed me more in this video than the actual BMW consultant at the dealership! Thank youuuuuuu 💪🏾
As a first time BMW owner as of yesterday, this video is fantastic! I took delivery of a 2023 330i and it's a stark departure from my normal cars. Good info!
You have to turn on the kick to open trunk feature in the door setting menu. My dealer even told me that my car was not on my car. It was a pleasant surprise when I found it.
Thanks for the heads up, that's something brand new I have to look into, many of the ones are showing on the window sticker as a charge back since it was supply chain issues. Thanks for letting us know!
Another little 2cents… kinda funny actually, I have it on but when I go grocery shopping, and I have to reach all the way in to load up, my feet will trigger it lol maybe it’s just me, but it does happen pretty often, I have to come out quick because it does not stop lol I actually didn’t know I could turn it off. Thank you.
Same here. My car (23' X5) was not supposed to have it, but it did and I happen to use all of the time. Guesture control is another, but they happen to keep that one off and I most likely wouldn't use it since there's no advantage in using it.
On the invoice that came with my new X3 it said that the kick to open/close feature had been deleted, however I too could activate it too in the door setting menu. Happy days!
I owned a 318i for twenty years... I just bought a BMW touring with all this special technology.... I had a hard time learning all this... To the point of embarrassment... So I took a long 14,000-mile vacation trip through France, Portugal, and Spain... When I arrived in Barcelona, I was a full-time BMW professional driver... Driving this car is simply a dream...
You can adjust the headup display in the settings. There is a possibility to rotate the shown information on the head up you just wear yr sun glasses and rotate it till you can see it again ^^
2021 X6 owner. M50i + DHP. luxury seat, B+W, driver assist packages. great car. love it. most of these seem obvious but thanks for letting me know about the blinker! i didn't know that was a thing.
@@BeamerViewthat blinker thingy has been a bmw thing for at least since 1998, as all my previous bmw’s had it, don’t remember if the E30 had it but maybe also
Adding to my earlier comment on blinker stalk functionality you can also turn off your turn signal by the same movement when it stays on after turning the corner by pushing it lightly in the same direction as before. This is much easier than trying to turn it off by pushing the stalk in the opposite direction.
Go into settings and search for comfort access, there is a setting you can turn off where it says unlock when approaching the vehicle. Key card you have to tap and hold on the door handle to unlock/lock then place in the charging tray to turn on the vehicle.
It should be a straight kick front to back at a medium pace. The point of your toe should be close to hitting the bumper so that's the angle you should be aiming for. Takes some practice to find the sweet spot. I have seen this feature act up a couple times in the past but also make sure you have your key fob on you when doing this.
I bought a 2019 BMW X1 a few days ago (in the UK) and your last jokey comment about the blinkers - just touching the stalk up, only gives 3 blinks. I was on the motorway yesterday and it really needs double that or more to shift lanes on a busy road. Pushing up firmly seems to keep it on permanently and then you have to pull it down again to turn off. I had a Ford before this and their stalk has a self-cancelling feature, which is far better.
Agreed, it's more so designed for a quick turn and for some roads that may not be enough. Usually, i would click it twice so it does extend the blinks a bit.
@@BeamerViewo cancel the permanent blinker once you activate, just do the light “up” or “down” push like the three blinks for lane changes and it turns off the blinker.
I have this exact same car, but in a different color. I'm very happy with my 2023x6 however the wireless phone charger does not work too well. Seems as though every time you go over a bump it pauses the charging.
Have yet to try it out while going for a long drive, I would say out of the 3 charging methods in the vehicle, the Wireless charger is more gimmiky compared to anything. It does make the phone over heat a bit and it does charge more slow as well.
@@BeamerView My dealership sales guy told me that they gesture control was not an option in the 2023 X6 M50i, however I see that it is an option. I need to bring this up with them because I want what I paid for. I spent a lot of money on this car and had requested this in the build...

Quite interesting. Thank you. There is a reason in the EU you cannot start the engine if you are not in the car: limit air pollution. In Italy (since last year) it’s not even allowed to keep your engine running (for cooling or heating) if you are sitting in a stationary car. The reason, again, limit pollution.
Yes, I can tell the US is starting to move into that route as well. Hopefully it's not anytime soon that remote engine start gets band here. But, I can see how it would impact the planet.
You showed me how to use my trunk kick which I just assumed it did not have because I wasn't doing it right. I have owned 4 BMWs since 2009 and while I did know quite a few of your tips and tricks I still learned a lot. My 2019 740i has features my others never had. One that I still do not understand is the button near the hill holding button, it depicts a car and has an up arrow and a down arrow. I looked in the owners manual for an image of the button but could not see one, and since I don't know what to call it I could not look it up online or in the manual index. It looks like a button would if you had a feature to raise or lower the suspension. I tried turning it on and nothing seemed to happen other than the little green light in the button started blinking.
It may be hill decent control, which helps you maintain a slow speed going down a hill. If its the lever that has lines beside it, that adjusts the height of the vehicle during low speeds.
Also after your BMW does a over the air software update or if the dealer performs one for you while in the shop you’ll have to go back into the settings and enable the remote start function again.
If you hold your finger down on those three lines on the handle for a few seconds, it will lock the doors and put the side mirrors in for you! I have an X1 and it does this. The 5 series I rented a couple years ago did it as well.
My X6 will not be delivered for 5 weeks so I’m trying to learn the nuances of the vehicle. Great video. Do you have a video that starts at the delivery of the vehicle and also how to work the navigation system?
There was a video I did on the 2024 X5 recently, its a white one, I would check that one out since it's very similar to the controls you would be seeing in your X6, congrats btw!! th-cam.com/video/zKQ6OC5LHE4/w-d-xo.html

This was/is an extremely valuable video. Super informative to newbie’s and I am guessing even experience owners might learn one or two things. Thank you. Now heading to your follows “20 Mistakes.” TU (a long time subscriber).
Would you please tell me how to get my experience modes to work they are no longer controlling the the sun blinds etc. Thank you and I appreciate your videos very informative
I know the directional bit was a joke, but… if you have the driving professional package, the automatic lane change is initiated by just tapping on the stick like you did in the video, for the 3 blink before reset indication. If you push up all the way, so that it stays on until you turn the wheel, it won’t work. I think it took me 3 months to figure that out.
Yes, that is probably one of the coolest features of all time for BMW. I know the very new Bmw is the ones such as the 5 series. You don’t even have to touch the stick. You can just look to the left or right side mirror and then the vehicle will change lanes all by myself. It’s pretty cool.
@@BeamerView what I read on the description now makes sense then. I’m not sure how that works in practice. I also saw the 5 series can now do have free at up to 80 mph on the highway
I drive a 2018 530i. I regret getting it. Not because I don't like it. I absolutely love it. I realized that I would be depressed driving another brand vehicle 😅
Sure! It's the best thing ever. So if you go into CAR > DRIVING INFORMATION > TRIP COMPUTER > By default it is set to INDIVIDUAL, that you want to change to REFUELING. Also CONGRATS on the X3! I love the sound on that one.
Beautiful BMW! I’m picking up my first BMW next week and don’t understand how I can connect to the internet. I understand how to connect with hotspot. But how can I use my iPhone data plan that is unlimited? Do I have to get another data plan for the BMW also? Thanks in advance and happy holidays.
Hey Mike, Congrats on the new BMW! You would have to choose one or the other, if you want to use the phone's data plan you would have to disconnect it from the hotspot. Couple things to mention to ya since it may be new to you. The last i remember, you may not be able to use Carplay or android auto being that the wifi network of the phone is needed to be free in order to have those features connected. If you do have an unlimited plan you could potentially use the wifi hotspot of the phone instead of the car. The main reason I can see someone using the BMW Hotspot, would be if kids their ipads in the car, that would help with having those connected.
@@BeamerView many thanks for your detailed reply buddy! I live in Portugal and the dealership didn’t speak English very well. So I’m learning from TH-cam videos like yours. I found your wonderful page by desperately looking for info on how to use the Jump Back feature on the Sirius XM. I want to know how it works. Does it start the song over if you come in at the end? So far it just goes back to where you come in on the song. I would love a section on the whole entertainment display. Thank you!

I wouldn't do anything that's not BMW recommended. Your best bet would be to call up your local BMW service team, ask to speak with a foreman/leader that's good with EV cars and ask what's the best case scenario.
Glad it helped, Yes I will ad that to the ilst. If you don't already know. If you have a new BMW you have a 3 month trial if you BMW is WIFI Ready. If its WIFI Ready but out of the trial, you would have to go through a service provider. Here in the US it's through TMobile
Can you do a video on the parking aids, ive tried the auto parallel parking feature and it doesn work. My Mercedes-Benz did it no problem easy and intuituve. Thanks!
Great video thanks for making it. Quick question how do you turn off that stop start function. I hate when the car goes off and on all the time. Thanks 😊
If you vehicle has the mild hybrid system then there isn't a way to disable it manually. If it doesn't have this system there should be a button nearby the gear shifter (a A with a circle around it) You could also just drive in sport or set sport individual to be in comfort parameters.
Hi. I have a 2021 X5 with the comfort package. Can you adjust the headrest backwards and forwards. It looks like you should be able to but I can work it out. Thanks.
From the X5's that I've seen it doesn't come with the side button that allows you to move the headrest front and back like it does on the X3 and other BMW's. If you have the multi contour seating, there is one movement that moves the top half of the seat, front and back, which would include the headrest moving along with it.
Thanks - You’ve got to where I’ve got to on this. I do have the comfort package so you can tilt the top half of the back of the seat which by default includes the headrest. But the headrest has two rails in the bottom of it that suggest it should move front and back but I can’t for the life of me see how. Anyone else know?
Hey David, looked into it a bit. It could come down to two different reasons. 1. BMW uses the same headrest for the BMWs that do allow forward and backward movements. 2. It's used to access a safety mechanism for technitions to work on within the headrest, something having to do with a crash sensor.. Check out this forum for details. g05.bimmerpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1683145
If you're referring to the headlights, those control you'll see near your knee. You'd want to switch it to the OFF position. If you were referring to the auto highbeams, for this generation vehicle, it's located on the turn signal stock, below the BC button.
Great video...what color are those seats? I didn't make any of those mistakes however what's the process to reset every time I refill? Let the everyone know the traffic camera alerts app is a trial..mine is up for renewal in Oct..some don't realize this app exists not sure if you talked about it..also..the emergency button representative told me that can be used anytime not for only emergencies..just let them know it's not a emergency and ask away..they can send directions etc or if you feel unsafe etc..or have a question about the car etc..in case you did cover this
I live on the West coast, and so spend time on ferries. It might be good to mention how to turn off the motion sensor when it goes off due to the rocking of the ferry. (Or if your pet is in the car.) I think you click the lock button twice? Please confirm.
Yes it’s a double press. You’ll see the security light under the rear view mirror blink red and then hold to let you know it’s deactivated. I have another video about the key fob. Check that one out for a demonstration
BEAMER ? No. Unfortunately the x6mc rides incredibly bad when the non M is far better unfortunately. Was going carbon black/same interior. They need to adjust the suspension the way the did for the LCI x3m. That said, love all of ours. Bimmer my man, you know that lol
@@BeamerView def the sweet spot. have all models of the X3, X7, etc - all around excellent. Could not adjust to the X6M though, which was a big let down. Only in NAV is split screen available. The widgets that you see on the home screen are customizable though which is similar to having a split screen though.
I love the location of the start button in bmws. It’s right next to the shifter you can start with your thumb while simultaneously putting it into gear with your other fingers !
The blind spot warning feature only blinks but makes no sound. this is something I relied upon with my previous Mercedes and other cars. Is there a way to turn on sound with the blinking light?
how to programme garage door opener, I have a 5 and a 6 Cabrio both have this feature but impossible to get either to work. (Yeah, I have seen vids on how...but no!)
My question is about dude mirrors. Why don’t the side stay adjusted? Why if they continue to move from the position they were set. No one answer this question. Maybe you can. I tried the car in reverse issue but that didn’t work. I have a 2020 X2.
The tilt feature is controlled by where you have your side mirror selector switch, try switching it to the other side and it'll stop it from tilting down, vice versa. That's the only time it should be doing it, if it's doing it by yourself then it may be an issue.
Hi, yet another great video, it’s greatly appreciated by BMW owners. Could I ask for a small video on how to activate your parking lights, on a 2020 X6 M Spots (G06)
The lock button does NOT work if it is cold out though. I knew that about the hood latch, and it is also true to close it, you have to push twice on the hood for it to close completely. My iPhone won't shut off when I turn my BMW off, it just keeps playing until I lock my SUV. So annoying!!! I wish you would tell me how to make that stop.

Great advice, always good to learn new things, thanks!!!
Thank you! Stay tuned for more!
Although my BMW doesn’t have all features described here, but I found it very useful and learned a lot. Thanks Bro!
Glad it was helpful! Never know your next BMW may have more of these, can't hurt to learn it =)
Reach out if you ever have any questions!
@@BeamerView You’re absolutely right, thanks again!
The joke was funny!!! I got it. Everyone thinks Beamer owners don’t use blinkers :) I don’t know why.
Haha, beamers can take the turns faster than the turn signals stop blinking, so I'm not surprised =)
Thanks - Informative video .
Glad it was helpful!
This was/is an extremely valuable video. Super informative to newbie’s and I am guessing even experience owners might learn one or two things. Thank you. Now heading to your follows “20 Mistakes.” TU (a long time subscriber).
Glad it was helpful!
Would you please tell me how to get my experience modes to work they are no longer controlling the the sun blinds etc.
Thank you and I appreciate your videos very informative
Try going into settings and searching for the mode you should be able to control which aspects of the car can change.
These aren't mistakes, these are tips
Still a good thing!
Great video I learned a couple of things I have a 2022 x5. Thanks
Anytime. Reach out if you ever have any questions!
2:30 I just got a BMW 440i m. An yes my trunk does open with your feet
Nice! Love the feature.
That turn signal feature was a suprise to me fr
Get's us every time.
You’re rad! Thank you!
You rock!
I feel the same way, I'm sure you're enjoying it!
Hi! Got my new x3 m40i for Christmas. I’d love to have the directions to set it so the trip resets automatically when filling up. Thank you!
Sure! It's the best thing ever.
So if you go into CAR > DRIVING INFORMATION > TRIP COMPUTER > By default it is set to INDIVIDUAL, that you want to change to REFUELING. Also CONGRATS on the X3! I love the sound on that one.
headlights assistant is one of my favorite features
The best!!
I’ll probably just sit in the 2021 118d M and read the user manual. Can’t wait to pick it up next week and I’ve subscribed to your channel. Thanks again and happy holidays 🤗
Great video. Very informative.
Thank you!
I found your wonderful page by desperately looking for info on how to use the Jump Back feature on the Sirius XM. I want to know how it works. Does it start the song over if you come in at the end? So far it just goes back to where you come in on the song. I would love a section on the whole entertainment display. Thank you!
Thanks for watching. I'll see if i can make my own video on this, I also need to learn about it more and will do so soon. Here's another tutorial video someone else did for another car, but the feature works the same. th-cam.com/video/ky4x6t2tntk/w-d-xo.html
How do you have the trip mileage reset to zero when filling gas tank?
I knew someone would ask! Finally!
Click “CAR” Settings
Driving information
Trip Data
Values Since < change this to refueling.
Thank you!
@@BeamerView thanks was wondering this too
Can you open and close the sunroof with voice commands? I have tried to do it and I cannot figure it out. I have a BMW X3 2023.
Yes the new ones do it for sure, you should be able to.
Do you know how to see the start time of a journey in "journey information"? as I think it was available on my last BMW but I can't see it on my G20 19 plate
thanks
Wayne
Not sure if they've renamed it. But there is a menu called trip information, that should be located in settings. Should be the same info.
Hi there this is Mike from the uk I just bought a f40 128 ti I work away a lot so my car is not being use when I come home for the weekend the battery is going flat I have no power outlet can I put a solar panel charger on the terminals under the hood to keep my battery topped up thank you Mike
I wouldn't do anything that's not BMW recommended. Your best bet would be to call up your local BMW service team, ask to speak with a foreman/leader that's good with EV cars and ask what's the best case scenario.
Just listened to the first couple, but these are not mistakes, they are part of a learning curve since BMW is the one that is creating these oddities.
Agree with your input! Thanks for the feedback.
Super helpful video, would like to see more on the Wi-Fi hotspot.
Glad it helped, Yes I will ad that to the ilst. If you don't already know. If you have a new BMW you have a 3 month trial if you BMW is WIFI Ready. If its WIFI Ready but out of the trial, you would have to go through a service provider. Here in the US it's through TMobile
Damn that startup sounds good. I could almost hear it over all the different warning Dings the car made.
Hahah think in a situation like this you could hear the car more had I closed the door :)
Can you do a video on the parking aids, ive tried the auto parallel parking feature and it doesn work. My Mercedes-Benz did it no problem easy and intuituve. Thanks!
Sure, I do have a video up on the channel doing it in a bmw ix, id check that one out since it works the same way.
Great thanks
Even after a few months with our new BMW X3 i still look for the start button near d steering wheel😂
Happens all the time!
Great video thanks for making it. Quick question how do you turn off that stop start function. I hate when the car goes off and on all the time. Thanks 😊
If you vehicle has the mild hybrid system then there isn't a way to disable it manually. If it doesn't have this system there should be a button nearby the gear shifter (a A with a circle around it)
You could also just drive in sport or set sport individual to be in comfort parameters.
@@BeamerView okay thank you I'll check on that I appreciate you getting back to me.
how do you disable that light overhead from turning on when the car is turned off?❤
Open the door, then hold down the light button on top for about 10 secs, let go when it turns off. That should permanently turn off the light.
just curious...how many "x's" are in the word especially?
Bout 3 I believe.

Double action hood latch is only for current gen of bmw. Most if not all previous gen is single action plus hood release.
Was not aware! Thanks for letting me know!
my 2019 540i has double action for the hood release
Great video - does anyone know how to disable the auto headlights. Every time I start the car they come on and won't switch off while car in drive.
If you're referring to the headlights, those control you'll see near your knee. You'd want to switch it to the OFF position. If you were referring to the auto highbeams, for this generation vehicle, it's located on the turn signal stock, below the BC button.
Can I add remote start on my 2019 X4 M40i? I'm in the US.
No sir. Only 2022+ X4's
Great video...what color are those seats? I didn't make any of those mistakes however what's the process to reset every time I refill? Let the everyone know the traffic camera alerts app is a trial..mine is up for renewal in Oct..some don't realize this app exists not sure if you talked about it..also..the emergency button representative told me that can be used anytime not for only emergencies..just let them know it's not a emergency and ask away..they can send directions etc or if you feel unsafe etc..or have a question about the car etc..in case you did cover this
Thanks Dee.
I didn’t know the traffic cameras were a trial.
The seats are Sakhir Orange / Full Merino!
@@BeamerView wow they look red...nice!..I think mine tacora red
I live on the West coast, and so spend time on ferries. It might be good to mention how to turn off the motion sensor when it goes off due to the rocking of the ferry. (Or if your pet is in the car.)
I think you click the lock button twice? Please confirm.
Yes it’s a double press. You’ll see the security light under the rear view mirror blink red and then hold to let you know it’s deactivated.
I have another video about the key fob. Check that one out for a demonstration
BEAMER ? No. Unfortunately the x6mc rides incredibly bad when the non M is far better unfortunately. Was going carbon black/same interior. They need to adjust the suspension the way the did for the LCI x3m. That said, love all of ours. Bimmer my man, you know that lol
Beemer? I think that’s the right way. :)
@@BeamerView cmon man! No lol
@@michaelmesolellaesq Jk. The m50i version of this car is the best all around. It’s a beast even though it’s the mid tier x6. Sounds amazing as well.
@@BeamerView def the sweet spot. have all models of the X3, X7, etc - all around excellent. Could not adjust to the X6M though, which was a big let down. Also, nice vids, many people are not aware of all the BMW easter eggs in their vehicle. It is unfortunate you find most by stumbling upon them either in a menu or by accident lol
On the home screen can I get just a main screen profile of eg media or nav has it got to be split screen
Only in NAV is split screen available. The widgets that you see on the home screen are customizable though which is similar to having a split screen though.
Question, If I install window tint in the windshield will affect the head-up display????
Havent heard any issues with this, may look more on the brighter side after it's done but thats okay because you can turn down the HUD Brightness.
I love the location of the start button in bmws. It’s right next to the shifter you can start with your thumb while simultaneously putting it into gear with your other fingers !
Agreed love it being there =) Beats having to reach over behind the wheel to do it!
The blind spot warning feature only blinks but makes no sound. this is something I relied upon with my previous Mercedes and other cars. Is there a way to turn on sound with the blinking light?
Unfortunately not with BMWs. No sound will emit for blind spot warnings. It does for Cross Traffic Warning and in tight parking situations only.
The red guts 0:49
Gotta love it.
Also is gesture control not standard on idrive8? Because it almost has no buttons anymore 🤷 if its not whats the option called? speaking for 3 lci
Gesture control is standard on iX models. It’s renamed natural interaction.
1 st viewer now I just subscribed !!!!
Appreciate you!
how to programme garage door opener, I have a 5 and a 6 Cabrio both have this feature but impossible to get either to work. (Yeah, I have seen vids on how...but no!)
I have a video on the channel if you search for "garage door" it'll show a live demonstration.
im in the UK I dont think we have the blinker lever but that is a good idea.
Seems to be a worldwide BMW thing =)
Thanks for this! I just got my 2019 430i cabriolet and I’m lost 😂😂😂
No worries im here to help =) Reach out if you ever have any questions!
bro that cargo remove and put under that tyre space. it’s not available for x6 right?
I strongly believe it is not being that the cargo cover used in the X6 is different.
@@BeamerView thanks bro
Wait. What?! That's cool. The trip computer can reset itself when you fill up automatically.
Correct!!
I have a 2021 x6. All I need to say is “ hey BMW “ she says. I’m here 😂🎉
Yes Hey BMW is one of the best features!
My question is about dude mirrors. Why don’t the side stay adjusted? Why if they continue to move from the position they were set. No one answer this question. Maybe you can. I tried the car in reverse issue but that didn’t work. I have a 2020 X2.
Side mirrors.. no dude.
The tilt feature is controlled by where you have your side mirror selector switch, try switching it to the other side and it'll stop it from tilting down, vice versa. That's the only time it should be doing it, if it's doing it by yourself then it may be an issue.
great video thank you
Thank you for watching. Let me know if you ever have any questions!
Hi, yet another great video, it’s greatly appreciated by BMW owners.
Could I ask for a small video on how to activate your parking lights, on a 2020 X6 M Spots (G06)
Sure, would love to do a lighting tutorial on BMW's
One question.....How do you scratch your paint with the fuel cap ?
Letting it dangle and rub against the paint would lead to minor, superficial scratches. Yes you can buff this out.
Hold the volume button down for three seconds to turn off the screen. That should also disconnect the phone.
I’ll try that, thank you!
I think your BMW is the only one with the start stop button where it is.... and I have had several 🤣🤣
It's very common on the newer vehicles!
Does anybody know what the transparent blue chip key looking thing is on his Keychain with the keyfob?
Hey Kevin, it's called a key tracker. Dealerships use it for their key track machine so it's faster to find the key that they are looking for.
I didnt know BMWs got blinkers. Thanx for the info
Just honest work my friend.
Understand and now I just need the car😊
Been there! :)
Hello, how to turn auto reset the miles when ever I refill the gas?
You go into CAR > DRIVING INFORMATION > I think it's the first menu option there, you want to set that to REFUELING.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me 29 times and you've found a BMW enthusiast.
YessiR!
