  • Hi everyone! Come along with me to tour apartments all around NYC! Having just moved to New York City from Australia, we are touring locations all around the city to find our perfect fit, in this video, we tour apartments in East Village, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, Nolita & Soho. We are looking for a Studio to 1 Bedroom Apartment in Manhattan in this vlog. Part 2 is coming very soon and tune in for more New York City and fashion content.

    Good rule of thumb: If they can't be bothered to clean the space for showing/renting, you can be sure they can't be bothered along the way for general maintenance.

    Theres plenty of brand new luxury studios/1bds in Brooklyn, Harlem, & Queens for less than 3500. If you like the city, just live near a subway. Welcome to NY!

    I’m a native New Yorker and it’s so crazy how high the rent for these apartments are. It’s obviously because of the location (highly desrirable neighborhood especially for people that are not from NY) but you could definitely find places in other safe neighbors for similar prices but brand new or renovated.

      Totally hear you! As I said, I'm definitely no expert when it comes to neighborhoods here, we were going strictly off of where we had enjoyed spending time and at least wanted to spend our first year living right in one of these spots. The season we are looking + covid deals ending + inflation rates has really created the perfect storm for an even more expensive real estate market too. What spots would you recommend checking out? I would love to add more neighborhoods to the list! 😊

      @@ErikaDwyer Manhattan without a doubt will be expensive no matter where you go unless you’re willing to go above 116th Street. not sure if you mentioned it but will you be working from home or in the city? What’s so great about NYC, is that you can easily get anywhere as long as you’re living near a subway line.
      If you’re willing to venture outside of Manhattan I would highly recommend Prospect Lefferts Garden or Clinton Hill in Brooklyn.

    It’s crazy to see that these places are going for such high rent! I’d recommend checking out parts of Brooklyn too - Williamsburg and Greenpoint are really great neighborhoods and you can get way more bang for your buck! Good luck though and happy hunting 🤗

    Yes,. scary prices! I pay 1098.00 for a 2 bedroom apt in a large city in Michigan. No, it's not New York but we have about everything here, city always growing w. jobs, cultural activities, Lake Michigan a very short drive away, tons of things to do. Most 2 bedrooms here range from 1200 to 2000. If I were younger I'd def want to give NY, Manhattan or Soho, a try!!😊❤

    The girl who said something ominous about the building was probably applying for that apartment and that was a way to get rid of some of her competition.

    It’s crazy that they let so many people tour these apartments with people’s belongings still in them. I’d be so worried that something of mine would be stolen. I was even surprised to see that the laptop in the last place was unlocked!!

    • @ErikaDwyer
      @ErikaDwyer  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a rlly good point- in one of the showings the person who was renting was there while people were walking through (they only let 2 at a time to see that one) and I feel like they probably had the same thought haha!

    for the amount of money you guys are spending you can get something so much betterand bigger , i know its Ny but you i seen so many places in NyC thats way bigger more spacious and cheaper in rent .

    • @ErikaDwyer
      @ErikaDwyer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe the videos make some of them look smaller (the last two were crazy overpriced and tiny) but some of them were pretty roomy/bigger than what we have had in the past.
      What areas would you recommend checking out 😊

    New York is extremely expensive, where I live you can rent a $1.5 million house with gym/tennis and football courts/swimming pool/sauna ect for $3000 a month lol

      Real estate pricing is based on demand for location first, not how big the house is or how many features there are. More people want the convenience and amenities that NY offers.

    The supposed previous tenants were just interested people in line trying to scare you away from the apartment.

    Did you tour with an agent or alone? Also, what did you use to find these locations?

      I used StreetEasy! There were agents there but we did it alone :)

    What was the ominous message 😮

    • @ErikaDwyer
      @ErikaDwyer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      She was like: “Are you waiting for this apartment? Like up there? I actually used to live in this building…. Actually I shouldn’t say that… oh I’m really not supposed to be saying things like that…” and then just walked away. I assume she had a terrible experience because that’s certainly NOT how you start talking about a positive experience 😂

    All those places are horrible and super expensive maybe you should try getting out of Manhattan.

    Oh my goodness, you seem so sweet.......but, please slow down with how you move the camera. I truly felt car sick watching it. The side to side is the hardest to watch on the brain.
