I guess I am easy to please, because I loved all of them. I guess my favourite was the lower unit bridge view apartment. I also liked the New Jersey facing one (number one). A lot of storage, the view looked calm, I like rooftops and industrial views. I would have to watch the video many times to take it all in. Maybe the Empire State Building view one is my favourite. The second bedroom would be a gorgeous office. I'm just dreaming!
You're right! The river (New Jersey) view was peaceful, I was too harsh in my judgement toward it :-) I was just hoping they'd have some higher floor units with more of a city view and less of the neighbors but no luck.
Seems like you like Central Park area..probably more money and not so many new buildings but, it worth it. Also, East Village was fun with views of older buildings. Yes, not much privacy but tis is New York! privacy goes for much more $. I am in same situation looking ether to buy or to rent in NYC starting this summer...Thank you for all tips to look for :) I also have a dog and same requirements for a park nearby. I also like lower buildings area with more "air". Wes village perhaps? :)))
liked apartments 2 & 5 & 7 & 9 &10 & 11 & 12. best apartments are 2 for the natural lighting & 7 for the Empire State view & 9 for the size of the living room & 12 for the view, but my absolute favorite is apartments 2 & 7. and for the privacy issue you could always install some curtains.
Beautifully shot and edited. Love the romantic shots of NYC in the rain. You also did a good job of showing us the apartments--the spaces were well delineated, not confusing. Your own current building may be old and your apartment may be dark, but I have to say your decor is incredibly classy and beautiful, and make your flat look fancier than it is, you know? As for the new flats: 10, 11 and 12 were super swanky and the views were nice but I don't do high floors that well...I get dizzy. 12 probably had the coolest long distance/city views but 10 with the bridge was iconic, as you said. 8 and 9 no way. One roach--disgusting, and always means there are more. I liked 6 and 7 the best of this lot, including where they were located. Good light, awesome views, nice layouts for both. 7 had smaller rooms but the view of the Empire State was lovely--just put beds/couches on the right side of the room and you'll be looking right at it ;-). Since you have family with you, I did like the fact that 7's bedrooms were separated by the living room, for more privacy. I agree w/you that corner rooms are special and would try to get as many as possible, lol! I like well-maintained older buildings with character (and often larger rooms, fireplaces etc.) but with the new skyscrapers you sure do get amazing views and amenities! There's a lot of appeal in that. Good luck!
wow thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! And thank you for the compliments to the current place. We really loved decorating it, a lot of the pieces were made by us including all the paintings, some sculptures, etc. It is a lovely apartment, I'm lucky to live here. I wish we had a fireplace, too! :-) Very good point about the bedrooms being separated by the living room. In our place right now, they are next to each other. Somehow it still blows my mind when I think that we even have 2 bedrooms - so grateful! Next, it would be nice to have them further apart haha Thanks again for watching!
Благодарю! Отличное видео! Изначально зашёл посмотреть на разные апартаменты, но потом уверенно подписался на Ваш канал, ибо Вы сами по себе интересны! 💛❤🧡
Good luck with the search guys. I loved the last building’s finishes and the views 🤩. I often think about moving downtown but am loving my UWS location near Lincoln Centre, with both Riverside and Central Park in easy walking distance. I do love your current space but hear what you say about older property issues.
I'm also looking and fully agree about all those hallways and doors - not great in a small space. I also really liked the last one w/bridge views. BUT are the amenities worth the extra 💵 (plus noise). Have you considered Roosevelt Island - it has everything you want - - very pet friendly too! Cheers, Good Luck and thx for the restaurant reviews!
Thanks for watching! I have not looked at Roosevelt Island, that's interesting... Have you lived there before? Would I have to take the cable car or the ferry every time I need to go anywhere? Shows you how unfamiliar I am :-) I'll research, thanks!
Buy a house in Westchester county. You will be much happier especially when you have kids. White Plains, Irvington, Dobbs Ferry, Scarsdale, Eastchester and Bronxville are all nice and not a far commute to NYC. When i miss the city i drive down for the day and i am always happy to go back home to peace and quiet. Otherwise, nice video. I love watching and imagining that i was single, childless and living in NYC. lol.
I think despite the sort of dated interiors, I would probably pick the LES unit with the 2B/2BA higher up because I just love that whole section of Manhattan
WOW, WOW, WOW, I’m still trying to understand the prices for these apartments. I hope whatever apartment you choose you sign a 2 year lease--GOOD LUCK!!!!
I own a tiny co-op apartment in NoHo and I was just sitting here thinking that the rental prices in this video are INSANE. But then it just dawned on me that, between mortgage and maintenance/taxes, I'm paying close to $6000/month. For a STUDIO!!! Admittedly, I love this neighborhood (which I consider to be the best in the entire city) and after living around Manhattan for 25 years, I can't imagine being anywhere else.
you could easily put up higher walls on that balcony. imagine how nice it would be to have outdoor space! just add some green walls or renter-friendly fencing
Southeast exposures are the ideal. You get morning and all day good, soft light. Western exposure, you get no morning light and only harsh, direct afternoon light. I get it though, you are looking more at the views.
Did I miss it? How much is your current rent? All things considered, you should keep your current apartment. With the savings you could make some renovations.
I spent a lot of my life (and money) living in central London. Looking back, I really enjoyed the city vibe, but I think it would have been more sensible to live in a cheaper suburb and commute. I just mean that I’ve probably paid enough to landlords to buy a place outright. Also I’d say don’t assume that your current salary will go on forever. Anyway just my thoughts, good luck and best wishes!
There are 50 states in the United States and most have at least one large metropolitan city with amenities like libraries, museums, theaters, restaurants, quality medical centers, etc. why is it that so many people crave living in tiny apartments with many flights of stairs and no elevator, where your bed is in the living room, if you’re lucky you get one tiny closet and then have to store most of your belongings beneath your bed, and your monthly rent is at least $3000 a month?
i gave a thumbs up because i enjoyed your narrative, but I got motion sick during your tours from both the twirling as well as the rapid camera movement. Just too much sweeping/jerking/cut aways....
The last building... the bedrooms should be the closets! Ridiculous. The views are nice, but after a while, believe me, you don't notice that anymore. What you notice is the tomfoolery of payng so much for such a small space.
I’m always frustrated with these apartment hunt videos where the hunters must-haves are 2-bathrooms, but waste time looking at apartments with only one bathroom. Why bother?
Easy! When you stay longer to one video they earn through longevity! So you see unnecessary stuff (based on what you click for) just for some extra dollars in their pocket!
When you come to a big building for a tour, they often show you multiple units they have. Plus you can never get all the things you want in NYC, sometimes it's a trade-off: maybe sacrifice another bathroom but save $2K and gain a balcony. Doesn't hurt to have an open mind and be flexible.
@denverdubois5835 luckily, we've been spared so far in our apartments but every time we tour, I see a few here and there. It's definitely a city-wide problem, they are unavoidable.
She wishes the Empire Sate bldg. was moved South?! What is wrong w/ppl. She should buy her ideal apartment then she doesn’t have to find something wrong with every apartment. She’s not a pessimist, why would anyone think that?!
It's beautiful--especially lit up at night--iconic, and historic. They don't build like that anymore (imo they should---beauty is important for the human soul.)
you were just really picky about things I thought were quite miniscule for those price points... (I would have to close the blind every time to take a shower... aw poor you).. you also seem to have a fixation on the Empire State Building.. meh.. the prices though.... why are you not looking to buy.. that is just insane. 60-100k a year on rent.. no way in hell... I think Warren Buffett would call you stupid.
@wrango rent = zero equity. I mean if you are looking at 60-100k for rent a year... you could afford to buy.. that is why it is ridiculous. my points are beyond valid.
@wrango I think what I meant about being picky.... at 6-9k per month... the fact that a curtain had to be used, was a turn off? lol... like you having to draw a curtain was the deciding factor? lol
This was the most boring apartment hunt on TH-cam. Every single apartment lacked character or interest. You honestly didn't seem excited about the process, maybe you did this video just for likes..?. Who knows... I was sooooooo looking forward to seeing some iconic New York style apartments but instead you picked basic white boring, over and over and over again. Best of luck to you.
Did you have a favorite??

The last building changed the game 🔥
Right?! Just wish the location was better...
Exciting! Thanks for the tour. I would say #4 and #10 were my faves. Good luck!
Thanks for watching! Agree with you on those newer buildings. Nothing beats the floor to ceiling windows like that :-)

Thanks for commenting! Your location sounds ideal, it's definitely on my wishlist.
I am STUNNED at the prices
The last building is my fave. I’m also pretty sure that’s where Alex Costa lives based on the views and layout.
it's a great building, the views are so worth it! If we were fully freelance and didn't have to commute, I'd rank it high on my list.
I'm also looking and fully agree about all those hallways and doors - not great in a small space. I also really liked the last one w/bridge views. I liked the last two apartments, the view was very good✨
Agree, I love a good NYC view!
Wow the prices in NY are insane for rentals. I would prefer a balcony
Agree, we've never had any private outdoor space in the city - it would be nice to have a garden there.
Makes me appreciate where I live .
The few of apartment 11 is gorgeous 😮
Agree! 😍

WOW, WOW, WOW, I’m still trying to understand the prices for these apartments. I hope whatever apartment you choose you sign a 2 year lease--GOOD LUCK!!!!
Thank you!! I know, it's insane and keeps getting higher every year... But it is what it is I guess in exchange for being here.

I'm new and just subscribed to your wonderful channel now😊
Thank you so much, great to have you here!
I liked the last two.
I loved the views for sure!
These are the highest prices I’ve ever seen on an apartment video.😮 Hope you find the one.
I love the video. But ofc in midtown you’ll have lots of neighbors.
Southeast exposures are the ideal. You get morning and all day good, soft light. Western exposure, you get no morning light and only harsh, direct afternoon light. I get it though, you are looking more at the views.
imagine buying starbucks in new york. i really was liking you too
The LAST building IS the ONE!!!
The views!! Right?
I’m soo happy for you💃🏼can’t wait for all the moving furniture shopping videos. Good luck with everything 🙏🏻
Thank you!
If I had that budget probably the last building with the dark floor only because of all the amenities, you never leave leave the building.
Did I miss it? How much is your current rent? All things considered, you should keep your current apartment. With the savings you could make some renovations.
yeah, we ended up keeping it although, can't really renovate anything here ourselves based on the rental agreement. We're paying $7.7K

Thanks! You're right, can't expect anything to last forever... But it's either rent or mortgage, and mortgages are even crazier at the moment. 📈

Hey Kate! What’s the name of the building for apartments 5&6?❤
Hi sorry just saw this! It's called the Murray at 509 3rd Ave
i gave a thumbs up because i enjoyed your narrative, but I got motion sick during your tours from both the twirling as well as the rapid camera movement. Just too much sweeping/jerking/cut aways....

What's the painting behind her at around 18:10?
It's The Baptism of Christ by Sebastiano Ricci. It's a wallpaper mural

@@KateOstre If you’re flexible and open-minded then don’t include “must haves” that aren’t really must haves.

Stay onthe upper east side, you'll get a better apartments
$7,220 a month and it's got roaches? No idea why anyone would want to live in NY, pay those exorbitant prices and live in a box. Yikes!
What are the addresses of the buildings?
606 West 57th Street
509 Third Avenue
105 West 29th Street
11 E 1st Street
225 Cherry Street
The camera action whipped around so quickly, it gave me vertigo. Slow down!
Nothing like a big old roach in an expensive apt.
We've seen a few more in other buildings that I just didn't film 🤫
@@KateOstre Not sure I could live in NYC, much as I love it...roaches and rats, roaches and rats. Sigh.
