    Nothing smells like a new Bible you have to have a good leather to understand that and I have not purchased an Allen or a Cambridge for the very reason that you gave I don’t want that to be my level of perfection most of my Bibles are from church Bible publishers and I have several ruckman reference Bibles which I believe are bound by church Bible publishers and then recently AA Leather they are very nice and you do have to break them in a little bit but watching you open up that Alan I understand exactly the addiction that you have to beautiful leather I suffer from the same Good review Lord bless you I’ll see you in the air

    Excellent review. I have watched all of the RL Allan Longprimer Reviews. Others have shown size comparisons, but you made it easy to visualize. Thanks, brother!

    My main fault with the Longprimer for what I've seen is the lack of italics.

    I have the same Bible. I also have the much smaller Ruby with full yapp; cute but tiny font. I love the 53 and prefer it to the significantly heavier 63. If I were to buy another Allan's Bible I would seriously consider the Brevier Clarendon, primarily for its more portable size yet still readable font size.

      codpieceofjustice I have one of those! it is the perfect size. I had a 5 and 5c. They match the 53 perfectly as far as the leather goes. I also have a 7 that I use daily. I would love to have the 5 again. The 7 is a thicker leather and made by Jongblod. It has softened some over time but not like the 5 did.

    I would add that the first Allan bible you purchase, MUST be highland goatskin. The other leathers are great too, but if its your first experience with an Allan, go top shelf.

    Very nice brother I have the Sovereign 63 that is exquisite. I want the new 53 so I'm selling my Allan wide margin to finance the purchase.

      You will not regret it. I would try to keep the Sovereign if I could afford it. I almost bought the Sovereign in blue....that looks pretty. Only reason I didn't buy it was the wide margins. I don't write in my Bibles so for me it just means a larger Bible to carry around. God bless!

    A common misconception is that Allan binds some of their bibles. R. L. Allan does not bind their own bibles. If your bible says just "Allan Binding" it does not mean that Allan binded it. It just means they didn't specify who bound it. Since they use more binderies than they used to they have started to label the bindery at the back.

    Are the Allan bibles stitched around the edges like Cambridge?

    • @PackinPreacher
      @PackinPreacher  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyler Bagwell No they are glued very well.

    • @TBaggins96
      @TBaggins96 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Will that stand up to long-term heavy use as well as stitching?

    • @PackinPreacher
      @PackinPreacher  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyler Bagwell I know a couple of guys that are heavy users (daily readers and preachers) of thier Allan Bibles and after a couple years they still have not had issues.

      they are not stitched around the perimeter. however, they are impeccably made and stand the test of years and years of bookbinding.

    • @Aten7162
      @Aten7162 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Perimeter stitch would not work well with full yapp.

    What does long primer mean?

    • @PackinPreacher
      @PackinPreacher  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is a typeset used to print the pages of text, but we also call the flagship Bible that RL ALLAN makes a Longprimer since it is the text used.

  • @joen.8668
    @joen.8668 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The margin is too narrow. I prefer longprimer 63.

    • @uvafan940
      @uvafan940 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes not sure why publishers have not caught on to that. Many don't want to carry around a wide brick (wide margins), but would like a generous margin on the inner and outer margins. The text on the 63 could have afforded to be shifted more to center so as to allow more room on the inner margin.

    • @fnjesusfreak

      Well, a lot of times we use the genders from romance languages, and in them, the word for "Bible" is feminine, so it's not unreasonable... :)
