First printed in 1952, the King James Version Longprimer Bible is a sumptuous, traditional reference setting of the Authorized Version. Developed by Oxford University Press and now published exclusively by R. L. Allan, it has for many years been our flagship Bible, renowned the world over for its clarity of type and our beautiful bindings.
Based on a vintage copy of the classic Longprimer, printed in the period 1952-1958 under Charles Batey, then Printer to the University of Oxford, this Bible returns to a page image that is much closer to the original intentions of the typesetters. This new-old page image retains the large, clear type of the Longprimer we all know and love, but has a crisper letter form and less of the broken type and 'spread' that mark out much-used letterpress typesettings subsequently transferred to film and, only more recently, to digital scans.
This new Longprimer Thinline 43 edition is bound in Purple Highland goatskin with generous semi-yapp and purple under gold page edges, leather-lined in a toning purple with gilt line inside, three ribbon markers, with presentation pages and family record in our improved design, dictionary of proper names, subject index, concordance, 32 pages of lined writing paper and 16 pages of Oxford Bible maps.

Love your review and pagan cat. LOL My feline is not interested in goatskin smell either. Your Allan 43 is so beautiful. Wish the new 2023 Allan 43 purple had purple under gold page edges like yours. The new 43s have purple under gold page edges only in the black goatskin edition. The 2023 43 purple edition is red UG with red calfskin liner and purple ribbons. The new color combinations are interesting , but I prefer the color combinatoin in your 43. Thank you for your review!!
The text block looks well centred inside the gilt line when the Bible is open (in other words when it’s most noticeable).
Smell rate is 93? That's pretty high. What's your highest rated smelling Bible?

@@LeaningTowerOfBible YES!!! Allan's NASB is special in so many ways, including the smell. It has the strongest leather smell of any of the other R L Allan bibles also. The leather on Allan's NASB is amazing!! I've ordered this 43, and still waiting for it to be shipped.

RE Damnation. That is a great example of why the KJV is not a good translation for todays english speaking world. I would bet that most KJV readers read words which have changed meaning and don't even know it. NKJV is a good substitute if you like the KJV.
Yeah, I use it as a supplement. It's good sometimes to slow down and think about things differently.
