My 53 Longprimer is Crimson Red and is an absolute classic Allen's Bible, plus I have it in the 62 in Petrol Blue. The Longprimer s a standard that's hard to beat!

Deciding on 63 or 53…I prefer writing in my Bible and know I will but I don’t know if I’ll get tired of the bulk of a 63. Since you have both what do you tend to use the most?..thanks
@@mike29shan25 My 62 is currently brand new nad for sale on eBay Australai. So, my answer is I use the 53 because it's just right, and I got myself the 62 because of it being Petrol Blue, but honestly didn't actually need another bible! The 62 has 40gsm paper and is beautiful, so is entirely up to you :-)

Awesome Bible! I received my Allen 53 Longprimer Crimson Red Highland Goatskin Bible from Bibles Direct in the UK a few weeks ago. It's a beautiful Bible. It's now my daily reader.

Wow! Tim’s # 53 C is stunning!! I’ve never seen a #53 C with red speckled page edges available for purchase before! RL Allan bibles are so pricey, but OH, so worth the cost. The quality, workmanship and beauty of R L Allan bibles are second to none.
I’m not sure if it is how Allan binds the pages or the paper itself, or both, but when using my Allan bible I can find passages with great ease, oftentimes turning directly to what I’m looking for. The pages don’t cling to each for dear life. Nor do the corners get unruly and fold into dog ears. It’s a joy to read God’s word from an Allan bible and not be concerned about delicate, thin pages. After I purchased my Allan NASB, I gave my 2 Schuyler bibles a rest, and back in their boxes they went.
They are wonderful Bibles, aren't they?!
I love the readibility of the Schulyer's, but the page quality is so thin. The 2018 and earlier versions (36 GSM) are better quality IMO. But RL Allan beats everything out there by a land slide!!
@@ReadTheBibleDaily Yes, Schuyler’s bibles have such great readability. Their 28GSM has great opacity, but is just too thin for my old, arthritic hands. I do love the lux goatskin and workmanship of Schuyler bibles, but I treasure my Allan bibles for the thicker paper. If Schuyler ever went back to the 36 GSM I’d buy another, but until then, I’m staying with RLAllan. Do you know why Schuyler changed from 36 to 28?
@@makatinahat My personal opinion: manufacturing costs (prices on everything is up) and the overall bible market: you have companies like Thomas Nelson and Holman producing premium-ish bibles at lower cost.

I took ages deciding between this and the Sch, I prefered the mixed colour, but in the end decided on this one because of the centre column references and problems with the Sch on how they break the new-lines up in Psalms. I have just ordered the Allan.
This is the Bible that I would like to own.

@@timwildsmith Mine is the Meriva Calfskin. So now it's time for the Highland Goatskin so it's time to order the 53. It's even a little thicker than the 52. I love the chunky's...!
Got mine recently from Allan, they only had the speckled edges instead of the gilded edges, but it's an absolutely majestic thing to (be)hold
Just got one of these with the speckled pages. Leather like butter. My only gripe is the font size. I’m used to the Quentel 11 pt.

That is like mine, except for color. It would be interesting to see a comparison of the 53 with the Cambridge Bible, they have a font that seems to me to be the clearest of any Bible I've seen.

Sadly they don’t include the translator’s preface nor are the translator’s supplied words presented in italics and there is no red text option. This is why I only bought four of them. (53 SPC, 53c, 52 and a 43).

Nope… they use navy blue liners for their black bibles.

They've done a couple of 53C runs in the past year... so I would expect that to continue.
I have a 53c first edition. It has the dark blue ribbons. Very beautiful Bible. One I will never mark in. 📖🙏📖

53 is hard to find in comparison to the 52 at KJV store or any other location is the same way unless you buy it at England store and the color of green is also hard to find
As a complete novice when it comes to Premium Bibles it seems almost impossible to find a Allan 53 Longprimer anywhere. Are they just that hard to find or limited in production? Where should I be looking to get myself one? Love this blue and red combo
Limited production. Keep an eye on their website... they do a new run of 53s about once a year.
They have them now! I ordered one last night.
What do you like more, the Allan 53 Longprimer or the Cambridge Concord Reference?
Tough call… probably the Longprimer by a hair, but not much.
@@timwildsmith Would you say the value is with the Concord? It can be purchased for nearly $100 less than a longprimer.
Tim, do you happen to own any Chant bound 53 Longprimers? Some folks are willing to pay hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for such versions. They claim the Charfleet versions just aren’t up to historical RL Allen standards. I value your opinion so I thought I’d pose this question to you. What are your thoughts on Chant vs Charfleet?
My question might even be worth a video on the subject…. Hmmm 🤔
I should probably do a Chant vs. Charfleet video... I do not have a Chant 53, but I do have several other Chant Bibles. I think a big part of the "Chant love" is simply that they are not available anymore, and people put a higher value on something that it hard to come by. In general, I think that Chant bindings probably have an edge over Charfleet, but I have several INCREDIBLE Bibles that were bound by Charfleet that I like much better than some of the Chant bindings I've seen.

I own this Allan 53, same color. I find the Cambridge large print a better read. I wish Cambridge made that bible in a higher end paper and binding.
Hmmm… are you talking about the Turquoise? Or maybe the Concord?
@@timwildsmith no, I am talking about the text only Cambridge large print. I think the bold letters are more appealing to me. Plus the font reads like a much larger print. There is the standard/emerald but the print spacing is too tight and the writing shows through. I have the turquoise and the personal concord (by tbs known as the personal reference). The large print text only Cambridge is a cameo print.

I think maybe a novelty, it will soon wear off and you will find the Red text less easy on the eyes.
