1st and 2nd hard when it's cold? The Ford MTX75 often struggles going into 1st and 2nd when it's cold outside (less than 10°c). Opie oils recommend 75w80 which helps as its a thinner oil. Ford now fill the MTX75 with just 75w (even thinner than 75w80 or the original 75w90). 👆 this saved my car from the scrapyard
@@letsrockza it will use ATF if it's an automatic gearbox. The A in ATF stands for Automatic, as in Automatic Transmission Fluid. Too thin for any manual gearbox.

NEVER do this... you have to flush the old oil and "wash" the debris from the gearbox . Also add Additive. All the metal debris remains in the gearbox and it will do more harm than good. NOT recommend!
I did this, too. The shifting became harder at low temperatures with the Castrol Multivehicle 75W-90. Altough, this oil meet the original oil specification, when the car was made. My car is a Focus 1.6 TDCI 90HP with MTX-75 transaxle, with (ca 2.3L oil). I know, this is the bigger volume variation of this transmission.

I can only say this about Ford oil, as I have not tried Castrol (FE) of the same type. The manual does not write the exact oil standard, because it says "lifetime oil". Castrol selector recommends Transmax Manual Multivehicle 75W-90, although someone wrote above that the standard is wss-m2c200-d2. The Transmax Manual FE 75W meets this standard and the Castrol Syntrans FE 75W also the same. The FE75W has lower viscosity values compared to 75W90. The FE is worth a try, as the Ford is three times more expensive and in the worst case, the dirt will be washed off better than in my case, if even that doesn't work... although these aren't today's cars anyway. Na meg annak idején megtaláltam egyetlen helyen leírva is, hogy az FE olaj tényleg használható is hozzá.

A castrolok között a viszkozitásbeli eltérés a jelentősebb, azon kívül az FE pár fokkal hidegebbet bír. Ha már élettartam olaj, max néhányszor legyen cserélve a tényleges élettartama alatt (5-600?). Én maradnék a D2 szabványosnál, hacsak annak idején nem hamis castrolt kaptam és azért volt mindez...

my opel uses ATF gearbox oil - but as far i know, if sticky then choose slightly thinner oil - if linkage or bleeding is not an issue??

Yes, but the procedure should be the same. Don’t know how much oil you need.
