  • Just seen this video which shows the seal - but read all below
    • vazamento de óleo! Tro...
    There is no need to disconnect the joint 7F110 in the rubber boot sleeve, just undo the bolt HS2 and slide the 7F116 Lever Gear shift off the shaft. The whole 7K336 lever and 7F116 can then be moved out of the way as one piece :)

    Oil leaking from gearbox on my 2003 Ford Fiesta TDCI. Turns out that the oil, which had creeped all over the gearbox and surrounding pipes and metal - was coming from the Gear selector shaft seal.

    I cannot thank you enough for this video! I've been trying to find what goes into that square hole, having inherited the car with the gear linkage hanging off the transmission, I knew there was a part missing. I've been looking everywhere online with no joy, then I found this video. It's part number 7c445!! Thank you so much!

    Thanks Mark for sharing this video, I just bought a 2007 Focus and soon discovered same leak. Knowing now I can fix it and without gearbox removal makes my day. Many thanks!

    Thanks Mark, your tips and experience were really helpful. I was able to to this job on the Mrs' Focus as if I'd done it all before, rather than as a learning experience. Cheers buddy!

    Thanks for posting this video.
    I did the very same job today and this video helped tremendously.
    Only thing I would add is that after removing the single bolt holding the ball end joint component with the square hole in it, you may have to strike the part to get it off the end of the selector shaft as it would be rusted on, as mine was. Use a soft metal drift, copper or aluminium alloy, to avoid damage to the shaft. You really don't want to raise the surface diameter of the shaft with any knicks or dings that might damage the new seal while slipping it on the shaft. Clean both shaft as end piece with fine emery cloth to remove any rust, grease lightly and reassemble after inserting the seal. Great tip on using the tape to protect the seal on assembly and using the ring spanner to help insertion.
    Thanks again.

    Yeeeeees! At last I made it! Thank you so much for the video!
    That little screw was a pain! I had to cut a third of the head off to be able to use a wrench.

    5:44 I must inform the oil does NOT flow out. It starts dripping with thick drops, but surprisingly, looses very little oil. You can even go without using an oil pan underneath.

    It seems to be a common problem in those gearboxes after several years. This retainer has to withstand rotational and horizontal movements.
    Fortunately, the replacement is cheap and quite common.

    it works the same for fiesta 2006 petrol? It can not suck the oil with a tube?

      @markellis7819  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All B5/IB5 gearboxes should be the same.
      Do you mean to drain the box?

    How did you remove the dust cover mines seized on and will not budge!

    • @markellis7819
      @markellis7819  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rubber dust cover on the shaft - or the plastic cover over the whole thing?
      Rubber dustcover should slide off. Plastic cover has lugs that the clips need to be lifted over

    Hi there. I'm currently doing this on my 1.6 Focus. But I cant get the 7F116 lever off the selector shaft. I've removed the bolt but its still jammed on. I don't want to force it incase i damage something inside the gearbox though

    • @markellis7819
      @markellis7819  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +skyrat1991 If you've removed the torx head screw HS2 then it should slide off - but might be corroded on.

      +Mark Ellis Nice one mate :-). Managed to get it off this morning. The shaft was corroded slightly so drowned it in WD40 last night. Needed a few gentle taps with a copper hammer but I finally managed to slide it off. New seals now on so I just need to refill the oil and put it back together

      +Rafael Zamora Sorry. I'm not a mechanic. Just a car owner who had a leak and who couldn't find any information on how to resolve the oil problem. I received so many bad or incorrect suggestions on what was causing this that I just had to make and share this
