    At 100k, mine was changed and made a big difference during the winter.
    Tip to the newbies, loosen the filler plug before draining the oil. If you can't get it undone, don't drain the oil!

  • @radulescu21

    Not entirely related, but I've read of owners having to struggle with 1st gear, even after warm-up. It was my issue also, I go trough some city driving during my drive to work and select 1st gear 6 million times. Every now and then it would only go half way intro gear, and had to force it with a second try or double clutch. However, changing the gearbox oil has fixed the cold stiffness for 1st and reverse, but would still refuse randomly to get into 1st. I would pull the leaver to the left, and hold it left while pushing up. Seems I was a bit wrong. In my case at least, I have to pull it left and then just push it up and let it sort of find it's own way, it's still on left side obviously, but not forced max to the left while pushing up. Also pressing the clutch more determined helps. Never missed a 1st gear since :) It almost goes into 1st on it's own, it's that smooth. The car is new to me, apparently it did not like my style from ex cars.

    Changed mine at 170.000km. It was nearly impossible to get in reverse first thing in the morning, also hard in 1st gear when cold. Obviously garages would blame synchro and told me I'll change the oil for nothing. Did it anyway as I'm not a mechanic, but I can feel a stiff shift due to the oil and not synchro or clutch. It now goes in reverse and 1st in the morning like a charm, perfect every time. And the rest of the gears had gotten a bit smoother.

    I would change it, Definitely worth doing. Gear oil is subject to shear damage in use, meaning that its viscosity will tend to drift out of specification, particularly when hot. Many vehicles have magnetic drain plugs - there will be a surprising amount of metallic swarf from the synchro rings accumulated here so change it.

    • @alan4x

      hi, if your transmission oil has never been replaced then it would probably be worth changing it which may help with your tight gear change ...lowering or raising the oil level will not help and with the tight 2nd and 3rd gears could be a problem with your gear change cables, selector mechanism in your gearbox or the synchro hubs attached to the gears

    Is this the same transmission as the one in the petrol 2.0 engine vehicles?

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      it may look similar but it won't be, the gearing will be different as this is off a diesel engine and the bell housing bolts will be different to a petrol engine
