    I've had my '99 Valk 7 years with 42k miles. Never had a carb issue it idles and accellerates perfectly. When running there's virtually no virbration on the engine. I use only high quality fuels with techron and an in-line fuel filter was added to further clean the fuel before it enters the carbs. No hesitation no nothing just smooth accelleration every time fast or slow. A key point is I ride it all year it never sits more than a few days even in winter I don't add any stabil or drain the tank. The fuel never gets stale or sits in the carbs long enough to spoil, that's what needed for carb bikes. You'd be surprised the dirt that accumulates in that filter it needs to be changed every 18 months or so, you can go longer but if it gets too clogged you'll have hard starting and accelleration is slightly affected. Valks don't come with fuel filters but I added one, no micro small particles can compromise my jets I run it stock no aftermarket pipes or need to re-jet...Starting the bike is not enough you got to ride it. It keeps fresh fuel flowing and no build up of gunk and stale residue can occur.

    D Ray. Thanks for these videos. I just rebuilt the carbs on a Valkyrie I inherited from my brother that wouldn't start and had been sitting for a long time. After cleaning everything up and replacing the fuel valve, she started right up.

    The original version of this engine was the gold wing tour bike. It had only 2 carbs. I guess they wanted this one to look like more of a hot rod bike, hence the 6 carbs. But this is'nt the first bike Honda has built with 6 carbs. Google "Honda CBX" and you'll get to see a blast from th' past! BTW, even the most experienced gear heads were noobs at one time.....stay with it, and have a goodun' bro!

    Hi Dray, just a small comment on your video. First I absolutely love the series as I am in the middle of overhauling my own 98 valkyrie at the moment and your videos are extremely thorough and explanatory. Thank you!! The only thing I noticed wrong was that you labeled the carburetors from the wrong side. Right side is 1,3,5 and Left side is 2,4,6! Cheers to your passion helping many others! (when I mean many, I mean many.. go to vrcc and search your name)

    I had a similar problem with a nut that was screwed onto a rotating rod, and no way to stop the rod rotating as it vanished inside a sealed motor body.
    I thought about a hacksaw but there was no room, so i used one of those mini craft drills and a 1 inch cutting disk to create a slot.
    Ring spanner on the nut and screwdriver down the center, worked smashing :-)

    I will like to know to where each vacuum line go to from tbe carburetors?
    In my 99 valkyrie i have som of theme blocked and i will like to know where they go and if i need to reconnect theme.

    Your videos are very helpful. By any chance do you know of a good place I can get a low speed jet from? And how I can tell if the ones that are in my bike are stock or not? I have a 99 f6 valkyrie

    Very Helpful video. I developed a fuel leak and assumed it was at the carb. As I took the tank off I discovered the line was broke at the nipple on the petcock valve and I suspect the fuel followed the hose down to the fuel rail. I'm reviewing your video again because there are two small hoses which are connected to the upper rail between carbs 4 and 6 and 3 and 5. It appears that they are just vent lines as I can see the ends when you turned the assembly upside down? Is that correct? Thanks again for producing the video series.

    i see that you re-used everything possible. is it not worth getting a gasket kit like the one from redeye tech and change all gaskets?

    D-Ray good job but when I started it up I had fuel leaks both sides where the fuel lines connect to the carb acembly It set a while how do I put new O rings in them it's the plastic part between the carbs? it ran like a champ fired right up but gas leaks suck.

    Why does this bike have six carbs? The last carb cleaning vid you posted, the bike only had two carbs, so I'm just curious what difference it makes/why it would need so many?
    Love your videos, engines and mechanical type stuff fascinates me, but I'm a total noob at it!

    My mixer screws are stuck bad, they have become one with the dissimilar metal. But I do appreciate your video. :)

      After hacking and breaking casting around the mixing screw along with penetrating oil managed to salvage these screws. Finished rebuild of some really bad and (Groady) carbs and reinstalled and I am impressed. Great videos !

    you said something about the honda CBX..wasen;t that the inline six that was about four feet wide and you better not lay it down or you will be buying new case covers....lol
