Thankyou for the videos! I have a 1999 Valkyrie 1520 touring and it is in need of carburetor work and with all the detailed videos you have on that bike it will not be a problem doing this myself. Oh yeah talking about the jet tool I grew up using bread ties, you just strip the plastic coating and you have a new jet cleaning tool for every carburetor job!
Great bunch of videos, I hope that since 2012 you have switched to an ulta sonic cleaner. Cleans the jets etc. in no time & since you use plain old soap you can clean rubber parts as well without damage.
Was going to try and remove the slides and float bowls with all entrails while carbs were mounted. I quickly saw that this was not the way to do it...so I removed airbox and it really wasn't that bad...to put them back on will not be bad at all, I presume. I will make sure the box is in and carbs are connected before I replace the bottom intakes and boots. That should make it that much easier. Alibi....why do vacuum hoses run to lower intakes on 1 runner driver side and 2 runners passenger side? Why not all of them? Tks
Your videos are awesome. Thanks for all of your hard work. I would like you to direct me to a video that shows more clearly how to remove the intake box and intake runners prior to removing the carbs from the motor. I've just taken over my father in laws 98 F6 Valkyrie as he can no longer ride. Has 19k miles on it but sitting in barn for couple years and will only run when carb spray is introduced. I fear that the carbs are all gummed up and need a good cleaning. Tks I live in Augusta, GA. If you are close...how much would you charge for a good cleaning? And or how much is a fair price for the procedure done right? Tks Also, is the F6 anything special? European model? anything like that? Tks
Hey D Ray I have a 1997 valkiery just had my carbs rebuilt and I've been thinking about putting bigger jets in it to put 6into6 pipes on it will the carbs need to be completely took off the bike again cause I was thinking on doing it myself , hope to hear back from you
Great vid. I plan on doing this soon since I am getting a large amount of gas pouring out of the carb over flow tubes on a bike that has set for 4 years. What do u suggrat to use to clean the rubber gaskets and rubber pieces?
You did not address the "bystarter" valves. I have removed mine and hope to spray in there...please tell me why I should or should not do this. Also, I plan to remove or De-smog the motor while I've got it apart...please also tell me your take on doing this. I do not plan to purchase a $70 pretty chrome plug kit when all the smog plugs are fine. I plan to take the two bodies out of the middle and plug the holes/hoses in the middle and from the outside will look as though smog stuff is still active. Just didn't make sense to remove the exhaust and everything else you have to remove to replace plugs that are already in place. Tks for your input. :)
A couple of things skipped over... How to use the Honda jet Tool? What to do if you don't have it.? How best to clean the rubber o-rings & caskets? None gearhead going to try this!

Looks like a lot of work. I'm sure the owner will be happy!

What did you clean the orings and diaphragms with?
