    Love it. You can take that whole thing out without a lot of trouble. The Valkyrie seems so easy to do a lot of work on.

    Thanks D-Ray. I'm working on a 1998 GL1500 CT Touring model today. I appreciate the GOOD advive. Trie to pry them off without removing the manifolds, wrong. .. LOL. First Valkyrie I've done.

    Thanks for a great Vid. Sure helped me have a little confidence heading into the rebuild. Very helpful and to think this six carb rack is easier to clean and rebuild then the older 1980's bikes.

    The small vac hose from the top of the air cut off valve goes to one of the vacume ports on one of the intake manifolds.

    Your videos are awesome Mr. Smith. My husband and I own a 2002 Valkyrie and I was wondering where we could buy the Low Speed Mixture screw driver. I looked online at MotionPro but I was not sure if the screwdriver was the correct one. Should it be D shaped? Thanks for any info you can give us.

    What is your opinion on removing the desmog lines and replacing with the shiny redeye desmog kit? I don't want my bike to backfire but seems like a good idea to eliminate all those vacuum lines and potential vacuum leaks.

    I have a couple of ? about the throttle . The shaft that rotates seems stiff after rebuilding the carbs ( I didn't disassemble the unit completly ) Any ideas ? Also do the throttle cables run alongside the right side of the air box or go down the middle then between the first and second rubber tubes? Thanks D-Ray

    Hello. I need some help with the 3 lines that go to the air box. I inherited a valkyrie that was in pieces.
    I know the thicker black hose is the crank case vent. I'm not sure about the other 2. 1 is clear ish red. Any help would be great.

    Hey D Ray I have a 1997 valkyrie and I'm having problems it just started running hot I noticed the fan is not coming on do I have a fuse going to the fan or do I have to replace the fan I had to pull the air box because I had to replace the vacuum hose on the middle carb and after I put it together the fan stopped working is there any wires I could have disconnected ? Help ! This is the first valkyrie for me and only the second bike I've ever owned .

    Maybe you can solves this riddle. My '99 Valkyrie came back from the repair shop worse than it went it and now they can't figure out how to fix it. They pulled and rebuilt all 6 carbs as they've done several times in past years. This time though, when the bike came back, I noticed the choke lever didn't work like before. It used to stay wherever I put it. On cold 20-degree days I used to slide it all the way down, push the start button, and it would always fire off in less than 10 seconds. As it warmed up, I'd gradually back off the choke lever until it was full open again. Now the choke lever suddenly has spring tension where there was none before. I have to strain my thumb to slide it all the way down and keep it there. Even then, the bike won't start. The motor catches and then immediately sputters to a stop. Rolling the throttle a little or a lot doesn't help. After about 30 attempts, the motor has usually warmed up just enough to barely keep running. I don't dare touch the gas until it's fully warmed up or it will quit. A new choke cable was put on but that made no difference. I'm told the choke linkage is traveling all the way to the stops on both sides and I can indeed see it moving. But when I push the lever down, it springs back to the middle position. I thought this would be an easy fix but nobody can figure it out and I'm stuck with a bike that I'm lucky to get started when the temperature drops below 60-degrees. Do you have any clue where they screwed up?

    Hey D-Ray-I have been advised I have a rail fuel leak on my 2001 Valk Interstate. Not being a wrenched of note ( read Clueless) I have no idea what a rail fuel leak is. Can you enlighten me ? where would I locate the fuel rail ? is it an easy fix ? not for me I'm sure but could get a buddy to do-cheers

    Yes the factory screws are "D" shaped. The motion pro tool is slotted. There is a blog on the Valkyrie riders forum where the used a spent .22 cartridge, put a lil dent in it, and used that to remove the screws, then saw a slot in them so the motion pro tool will work.

    my Valkyrie has been sitting for over 7 years. Needs this in a bad way. Bike will start but barely idle. No matter how long you let that idle lope if the throttle is opened even in the slightest degree the engine will quit.

    Question for anyone- how do you replace the needle in the carb diaphragm?

    • @pitbullxv750
      @pitbullxv750 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Take one of the float bowl screws and screw it into the stem that the spring fits over, you only need to screw it in a few turns. Hold the body of the diaphragm and gently pull on the screw. When replacing, make sure it clicks back into place.
