Give Me an Answer - Is the Universe So Simple it Could Happen By Accident?

  • Program 0321 ...........................Creation - Moral Standards/Ethics - The Real God - Just A Story - The Resurrection ........................................
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

God bless these young men in their search, especially the first one, so close to making a critical, logical step! Cliffe is so right to bring up the "mysterious." There are many, many things/issues of God I will ask "when I get there." Since God's character is established through His Word, even though we don't understand EVERYTHING, there is enough SOMETHING we can make the initial step to ask God into our lives. Once we do, we can understand that ANYTHING might happen in this life. If we don't hear and invite Him in, then we have NOTHING of substance.
However, a life with God is NOT a smooth road of perfection, health and prosperity that false teachers preach.

This was a great conversation with an intelligent young man. His care of thought toward presenting his ideas far outmatched many of the other students Cliffe has confronted.
I can also appreciate the approach toward an answer which you (Cliffe) engaged in. How do you practice what you preach? It's powerful even if not, for some, entirely persuasive on its face.
I do think, however, that a key addition to this argument might be to highlight the correlation between the groups of atoms we call children and ourselves. The apparent goal of the questioning student is to remove himself furthest from arbitrating morality in order to determine whether there is an actual form behind the ethics and morality standards we practice. He's attempting to isolate the morality construct in a way that de-necessitates his personal involvement so that he can point to it and say, there, it really does exist, in spite of my personal preferences - or no, sadly it does not, in spite of my personal preferences.
However, I do not think he sees the basal flaw in his approach. If the child is just a group of atoms, then so is he. Not only is any pain the child may experience a non-issue, but so is any pain of his own - and it is entirely impossible to come to that conclusion based on the fact that real pain actually exists, and we have real responses to said pain(s).
Pain, as a matter of fact, is an indicator of the intrinsic value of the physical forms we possess, as pain itself is an aide to preservation of those forms. If not for pain, why avoid the gleaming hot iron? Physical pain points us to the need to act in order to relieve the form by distancing it from the cause. And if that is true for the young student's form, then it also true for the hypothetical child in your thought experiment. Brought to scale, we can see that pain is a mundane experience, that is to say, it is commonplace and normative to the human experience, and general responses to pain are likewise similar. We do not, generally speaking, seek out pain, but rather practice avoidance - and in so doing we silently and perhaps without noticing assent to the idea of innate human value.
Innate human value does exist, and it is briefly comprehended in the saying, "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them." - Matt. 7:12a
There doesn't appear to me to be any further need to explore the concept of innate human value than that our practical experience demands we avoid pain, especially as dispensers, as that which we dispense to others we ourselves would not kindly appreciate.
Therefore, if pain, and if pain should be avoided, God.

I do believe that evolution is the origin of life but not the one described by the shallow observation of physical process. True evolution reaches for what is truly better and is defined by the love of God, the evolution of love, spirit, and character. I believe in the greatest and most truthful proponent of human evolution Jesus Christ. We begin as children and evolve and change over our lives, we certainly don’t just stay the same, nor has human civilization stayed the same, we exercise free will to evolve. Every philosophy of determinism reduces and negatively impacts human behavior while delayed gratification, righteous sacrifice, and the exercise of free will toward principles revealed by the teachings of Jesus Christ evolve people and positively impacts human behavior.

@@boltrooktwo Jesus was a proponent of evolution? Again, i don't think we're talking about the same thing here, but hey ho. Yes, absolutely, we all change throughout our lives, I'm certainly not the same person I was 30 years ago, or even 10 years ago, ..I'll be 63 in 2 days time. (how old are you btw boltrook?, you certainly don't come across as a young person i have to say) , as we get older our perspective on many aspects of life changes. I dare say I still have a few years left in me to adjust some of my thoughts as new evidence presents itself to me.
One of the reasons I like this channel and the conversations that Cliffe has with the students, and the chats I have with people such as yourself, is to challenge my own beliefs about reality as i see it... I'm constantly asking for credible evidence of the supernatural, for well over a decade now I've been asking and asking, and nothing of significance is forthcoming.. I would absolutely love to see someone with an incurable illness being magically healed to the point whereby Dr's and medical experts are totally baffled ..and that person ... as i said, someone with a severe ailment like severe cerebral palsy being healed by prayer or laying on of hands, and they become 100% healed and able to run and jump around... that would be absolutely incredible.. and it would almost certainly make me have to seriously reconsider Christianity.
Surely, if God is real, and devout Christians who are either suffering with something that is life-crippling, and causing them extreme pain, or the family of that person, if they earnestly pray with every morsel of their body and soul to be healed, surely God would hear that plea ( if he existed), and heal that person. What good reason would he have to ignore them? Yet, he will heal someone with a bad back in a shopping mall. Can you see that, for a skeptic, it's only giving me more ammunition to back up my own thoughts that he doesn't exist in any real meaningful sense.

    • @boltrooktwo
      @boltrooktwo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I am a little over 40. The psychologist Jordan Peterson opened me up to the idea of the significance of Adam and Eve discovering they were naked after they had disobeyed God. They realized without God they were vulnerable and when you realize you are vulnerable you know that everyone else is too. Evil stems from the idea that vulnerability can be exploited and others harmed or controlled from your actions. Good is building safety, providing for needs, being a conduit to give life to more beings, and helping against forces of harm or decline. Without vulnerability there would be no opportunity for good or evil and thus your significance to other beings would be very low as you couldn’t help or harm them, no-one would be vulnerable for it to matter. Sickness, disease, and injury aren’t all eliminated because we are apart from God and they are an integral part of the system which allows a free will being the ability to act towards others with significance and meaning. God intercedes when great trust is put in Him and to spur beings to act with free will good towards other vulnerable beings, along with humility and justification given to God as creator of all life, everything that moves, and that has a being.

A.k.a the meaning of that!. Whatever you live by we also would & gonna die by it. So whatever if it is a so called a lie or truth, people with common sense wouldn't die by a lie just to hurt themselves. Their would try to benefits themselves with a so called lie and die worthy are wealthy. well in this case unworthy because it would be a lie and not The Truth at all. That's why I'd personal choice & belief I'll rather live by it and in Truth, instead of any lie's.
Plus the trust itself is throw out the window if people lies alot , hell even one time lie how the hell and why we should be friends with an liar in the first place? It doesn't make any sense whatsoever!
Again there is no Trust nor any Truth a.k.a facts about any lie's, So the response of that person or between of people,, there cant be any respect for one & another, no honour are any loyalty there's no point Living in a lie.

Cliff's excuse is that if there is not a creator then the universe must have started by accident.
This is not so...even today everything occurs when conditions are right: tornados occur when conditions are right, lightning happens when conditions are right, tsunamis happen when conditions are right.
Some things, come into existence and peter out as soon as they are born, and some things, take hold and have their being for a time.
This holds true for all the universe as well.

God, is but the gigantic shadow of man, and not of man at his best, either. The God of theology is a bundle of contradictions and a logical impossibility.
This God is called infinite and absolute. Then, if infinite {limitless} and especially if absolute, how can he have a form, and be a creator of anything.?
Form implies limitation, and a beginning as well as an end; and, in order to create, a being must think and plan. How can the absolute be supposed to think, to have any relation whatever to that which is limited, finite, and conditioned.? This is a philosophical and logical absurdity. Even the ancient Hebrews rejected such an idea, and therefore, makes of the one and the Absolute Deific Principal an infinite Unity called Ain-Soph.
In order to create, the creator has to become active; and as this is impossible for absoluteness, the infinite principle has to be shown becoming the cause of evolution {not creation} in an indirect way, through the emanation from itself {another absurdity}.
By your own absurd admission you say that God is outside of space, time, and matter and if this be so; then, he is powerless to create matter. Like is known unto like: matter creates matter and spirit creates spirit. Matter does not create spirit, just as spirit, does not create matter. I can prove to you this rule holds true; hence; humans create humans, animals create animals, mammals create mammals, plants create plants, and matter creates matter.
Now...prove to me your Spirit God created matter.
The only answers I've gotten from you are "God did it because." You are giving me a nonsensical circular argument which is pathetic at best.
Electromagnetism is matter you idiot. Just like electricity is matter and we know this because we can feel, see, and hear, the effects of it just as we can feel, see, and hear the effects of electromagnetism.
I have yet to feel, see, or hear, the effects of your so called Creator that would even convince me he is real; and we have your own admission, stating he isn't real.

    • @jackalsgate1146

Once again...you haven't given me anything but a circular argument, minus, concrete anything. You're whole reply to me was nothing more then a bundle of opinions.
If I build a computer it is because I am a material person building a material component. Prove to me that spirit can create matter, and matter, can create spirit.
I've already proven to you that matter creates matter. I've also proven that the words I Am That I Am is a Hebrew anagram meaning "I Am God, That, I Am Man."
You're the one who said God is not a part of space, time, and matter; and now, you want to have it both ways and claim he is a part of space, time, and matter; cause, he can take any material form he wants and be a part of his people cause you can feel his love now.? According to you: God is not a part of space, time, and matter, when it suits you; but, on the other hand, God is a part of space, time, and matter, when it is also convenient for you.
