  • Program 2220 ...........................Faith and Evidence - Tolerance - One God/3 Persons - Time and Space........................................
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

I love how every "skeptic" enters the conversation the EXACT same way. Pretends they are being open-minded and "Just trying to understand 😊" attitude. However they quickly move into the position of patronizing, belittling, and scoffing with a smile on their face. You didn't come up because you were genuinely seeking truth. You just wanted to exercise your already held position in front of a crowd of people to flatter your ego.

Basically he is saying that out understanding of God MUST be limited because of the nature of who we are and the nature of who God is. God is outside time, space, 500239409234023 dimensions etc. Therefore it is impossible with human understanding to KNOW and state with ABSOLUTE FACT things regarding God. That space between uncertainty and unknowability = faith. The guy basically has a problem with Cliffe because he is making exclusive statements that excludes under possibilities of knowing God or understanding God. He is also referring to Scriptural translations where Cliffe blindly says "Jesus said.." to make absolute statements, whereas the guy is saying "how do you know that for certain?". In all actuality, there is nothing absolutely that we know about God, a lot of it relies on faith, almost but not nearly what we call 'blind' faith or trust. (btw I'm a Christian, but I think Cliffe did a very poor job with the first guy)

Skepticism leads to irrationality, because he pretended to be a rational thinker first. It's a deceptivism rather than skepticism. a-Theists have made a religion being arrogant and deceitful rather than truthful.
It's rational to question why evidence doesn't prove the unprovable, no one would say otherwise. But Christ did make truth claims that do not simply relate to Himself being Truth. (ie the Olivet discourse.) All philosophers acclaim that it is the best speech ever made. Of course, Christ was the Greater Philosopher. but Rather being about Himself, He made it clear that God is unprovable and only that God is Good. Making the fact the morality exists, ethics, laws of humanness being more valuable than animalistic humanism, naturalism. He made it that way on purpose, God exists because we exist, not the other way around.
However, He did leave enough evidence to also disprove that Creation existed of its own interaction and random spontaneity. Evolution' is also ridiculously easy to refute. So the skeptic is ignorable at best, and they pretend they have the ability be pro-antagonist to prove Christians are the irrational individuals. It's hypocrisy of a fundamental construct.
Evidence points toward God, a-Theists can reject at their will at any time. Faith is the other meeting point for skepticism, I doubt they think most people are smart enough to figure that out. Balance ⚖️ of the anthropologic thought processees and the irrational degenerative skeptic.
Paul technically did not know God. We could also say the Apostles barely knew the Father, because Christ Himself stated, Only the Son knows the Father. Which made Him th Son of God, in which we can know.
But that isn't entirely true either to say the old prophets did not know God of their own free will. Yes God showed Himself, but He also desired us to fully trust Him regardless if they saw miracles, heard His voice etc. because, Hebrews states we have the Prophets, and such.

    • @TheRealBwoi
      @TheRealBwoi 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Cliff stated that he and Cliff have two different views of the word faith. His argument is about evidence negates faith. It’s either one or the other. But that’s not biblically accurate since we were told to have faith in the Father, not based on His existence but on His actions.
Moses had to lead the Israelites who saw with their own eyes what God did for them through miracles and they still lacked faith, so much so that He didn’t want them messing up His gift for those who didn’t lack faith. Evidence and faith can live right along side one another as their effects on one another are minimal. I’m only speaking from a biblical perspective and not a worldly one.

From his pointing out of "Jesus spoke a different language how can you be sure what you think he said is what he said?" Like his other illogical arguments, are simply, "The fact of the matter is, people who spoke and read both languages translated them to English." If his point was to say, "Well words we use today they may not of had back then so we dont get the literal exact phrasing because it doesnt exist in our terms." Which is still semantics. If I say 'a' instead of '1' or 'the' and such, it doesnt change anything. We can still grasp the concept of 'a' by using the term '1' or 'the' :P He was totally illogical in his whole concept of reality and world views IMO.

      Ephesians 1:13‭-‬14 KJV
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
      Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9 KJV
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
      Romans 4:3‭-‬5 KJV
Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
      Galatians 2:16 KJV
The first Christians celebrated every Sunday breaking bread and fellowshiping not on Saturday according to scripture .....Sunday is not a new Sabbath day....Jesus is our Sabbath according to Hebrews .
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
      Hebrews 4:2‭-‬10 KJV
And upon the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul preached unto them, ready to depart on the morrow; and continued his speech until midnight.
      Acts 20:7 KJV
Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.
      1 Corinthians 16:2 KJV

    "Culture defines your belief"
Socialization works on your belief to remove things your society believes or disbelieves.
If you become a product of your environment, it's because forces outside yourself have been manipulating.
You could say, from a young age you have been taught and told the things you currently believe.
In order to change to what you ultimately believe, you need to alter your environment. You need to open yourself to taking in the excluded information at an age whare you can accept or reject what you can reason to be your adjusted belief.
If you stay in your parents created environment, you limit yourself.
If you go out and create your education and faith on your own you will look for other people who have success with their belief and their environment. When you meet someone like Cliffe, he may challenge your current set of beliefs and proofs. He may share his set of beliefs and try to share the evidence that exists but many young people dismiss without actually listening or considering.
If Cliffe can get a sentence completed without interruption, that is. Organized Perochial education does not allow all these interruptions or attacks by young people reciting atheist doctrines they appear to have been taught.
Secular education seems to be teaching that point of view. Its evidenced by the organized sound bytes of disbelief.
Cliffe shares alot of information he can prove and the crowd quiets down. They may be listening. They may be considering, or they may be calculating.
Will they ever accept scripture as God's Word? Will they continue to say the testimony is a fabrication?
Who can save us from ourselves?
    Jesus Christ.
If students consider living out the views expressed by students here, they will find they want to change it when it comes to starting a family. They will try to create a safer social environment for their family much as their parents did for them.
The truth of the bible had been compared to the places that exist. The evidence is being dug up. You have to search it out and find that it is there. The archaeologists and ministries thereof need funding to bring you the evidence. They are not huge manipulative technological and politically minded companies with deep pockets who control and manipulate your social environment or constantly interrupt.
The ministries don't try to own you.
They share their finds and compare to what is known. If you haven't read and studied the bible then you may not understand why these are considered treasured artifacts.
You may not see or grasp the events that occurred even if you stood in the area where Moses brought forth water from a huge stone that looks split open.
Or the clumps of sulfur all around as you found the sites of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Christianity ticks all the boxes - it is historically accurate, all its prophecies are fulfilled to the dot, and the soundness of its doctrines brings peace to the soul.

Good arguments the 1st guy proposed. Not so much on his views but his view on the attitude of host. In order to exchange views , it is human capacity to shout and over power one another in voice and intonation. If God is present , less then a single word will alighten us. Humans can talk all day and prove nothing, what are we proving or trying to? The power of God or his existence. People who talk science on the video got no clue how much humans are limited in knowledge of science as we are not even able to transient into space travel and manuiplate time and material. People who speaks God, has no clue what God has in plan neither , how can you understand what another superior being wants or needs ? Like what the host said he doesn't know what a dog wants.. In God case , we are the dogs, don't go tell people God gives you eternal life when you are not God(only God knows who he will allow). GOD will tell you personally or individually as it is a personal relationship. In short , humans are limited in capacity to tell the truth as we have no clue and no tools. We have evidence on both sides of the aisle, but even if you bare witness you cannot show definite evidence of the truth. Hence the conversation falls into faith, trust believe because so and so.
The truth can and will review itself , probably in a more direct nature as God relationship is personally to you(LOVE). Why would we trust meidums like humans to bring the truth to us? As humans are bounded by our capacity of sins and will manuiplate the truth.
This is my personal view point, the route to God is Love. LOVE is the larger picture that God painted designed for us to understand. What is Love ? Love = Sacrifice .
What can we sacrifice? (Time) To give a part of ourselves willingly without pride and asking for returns. Would you prefer to enjoy your xbox shopping or tv time human desires or spend that Time helping someone else say your old grandma, a special needs child . Or someone that requires more help then you. As humans length of our reach is limited, try to help those you can touch. It is bounded by fate and time . You don't get to choose where and when . God invisible hands pushes us forward, irregardless of you knowing or not knowing. With the limited time given , learn to love and try to see the truth. That's the purpose .

There is a measurable difference between faith, belief, and knowledge.
Faith - Faith is a hope for things which are not seen which are true. When we enter into the idea that Christ is the savior of mankind, we first have to have faith in this concept. We have to find faith in Christ. We have to have a hope that what we are taught and what we feel is true. This starts us on the path to eternal life.
Belief - Belief in Christ happens when we have had faith in and have learned of Christ to the point where we have accepted him as our savior. We have accepted what the scriptures say is true and have begun the journey of becoming more like him.
Knowledge - Knowledge happens when we have some sort of revelation or vision or evidence of that which we have believed in. Seeing an angel, seeing a miracle, seeing the Son of Man in the flesh, these things cause us to know. It is at that point that we no longer need faith or belief anymore because we would know.
On our journey, we may encounter many different degrees of faith, belief, and knowledge; some things we know, some things we believe, and some things we have to take on faith.

Faith = believing something with no evidence. Any old nonsense can be believed on faith.

I've gone through times in my life where I told myself I wouldn't believe until I saw concrete evidence. It was during those times that life was very dark and bitter for me. What I left out from my original statement above is that there is some degree of choice. I choose to have faith, and I choose to believe. Since my conscious choice, my life has been happier, more optimistic, and I have been a much better person because of it. Until I receive more, I'm content with what I have.

With that in mind when we really stop and think about it if we can only know what is revealed to us, than how on earth did we get the trinity doctrine? It has a lot of information that hasn’t been revealed it was debated and decided by counsels, but not of it self found within the religious text so it wasn’t revealed.

    • @bartjo1

It is found in the Old AND New Testaments. More specifically and elaborately in the New Testament writings. We find in Scripture that there is only ONE GOD. We see in Scripture that the Father is God, The Son(Jesus) is God, and the Holy Spirit is God. The word “trinity” or “godhead” does not appear in any of the texts. It is a word that the early church fathers used to describe who God fully is based on how God revealed Himself to us. Jesus, based on how He lived, the miracles He did, and His death and Resurrection, proved what He taught and what He claimed was TRUTH. The trinity is not a made up description of God, it is simply our best attempt at explaining who God revealed Himself to be.

I recommend that you join the historical Church that the apostles established (Orthodoxy, which means true teaching), the Church which holds to all of the Ecumenical Councils in history (The book of Acts sets the stage for Councils, the council of jerusalem which was held by St James). Many of the Churches which Paul wrote to in the NT such as Corinth, Philipia, Thessalonica, Ephesus, etc still exist today and have bishops governing them. Have you read Titus? Or Timothy? Paul ordained bishops to govern different areas. Which people dogmatized and explained the trinity? The cappadocian fathers such as St Basil, St Gregory Nyssa and St Gregory Nazianzus. Saint Athanasius was important too. These Saints and Councils also determined what the canon of scripture would be. (The canon being the books chosen for the NT). So the Canon of Scripture was chosen by men who were bishops, and a part of this Church, yet you reject this Church? The Canon also wasnt fully established until the 5th/6th century, so there goes Sola Scriptura... I could go on for hours and hours, even about issues such as the filioque added to the creed, which protestants and roman catholics believe, this makes the Holy Spirit subordinate to the Father and the Son. I could talk about absolute divine simplicity, how Catholics and Protestants believe, meaning God's essence and energies are in one, meaning if God's essence is eternal, this means his actions/energies are also eternal, meaning creation is eternal? Meaning God is required to eternally create? This is straight up platonism and origenism. Origen has been condemned over 15 times by 3 different Ecumenical Councils?? Protestants are just bringing back ancient heresies like Gnosticism, Origenism, Nestorianism etc. I urge you to seriously study Church History, read the Acts and Canons of the Ecumenical Councils (preferebly under the guidance of an Orthodox Priest, as this stuff can be complex), and i recommend you to read the lives of the Saints and their writings. A good start would be 1st and 2nd century Saints who knew the Apostles such as St Ignatius, St Irenaeus, St Justin Martyr and St Polycarp. Then i would read St Athanasius, St Basil, St John of Damascus, St Cyril of Jerusalem, or i would probably recommend you read the works of modern Saints who lived in our times such as St Justin Popovic, St Paisios, St Theophan the Recluse, St Seraphim Rose etc. Read about their lives and read their theological works. Also check out this playlist which has literally everything you need to learn about the errors of Protestantism, Catholicism, and why Orthodoxy holds the true doctrine of all the Councils and is the True Church established by Christ that he promised would never fall to the gates of Hell. - th-cam.com/play/PLG8ujnM0COm6TzQc8YwjQzYEizTOX4bkC.html God Bless

@Edmond Dantes No, the Trinity is ONE essence with 3 hypostasis / persons. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Think of the Father as the powerhouse, this is called the Monarchy of the Father, the Son is eternally begetted from the Father, and the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father alone (not from the Son, as the original Nicene Creed from the Council of Nicea stated, and as all the cappadocian Fathers such as St Basil stated). The Son (Jesus) has 2 natures, a Human and a Divine Nature. This is called dyophysitism, monophysites say Christ has one nature, a human and divine nature meshed into one. This causes theological errors. This is the belief of the Oriental Orthodox schismatics who rejected the Ecumenical Council of Chalcedon. God bless

I don't see why people think science and religion can't go hand in hand. The same way the human body is a vessel for the soul, physical phenomenons are the vessel for God's work and creation.
The Bible has many lessons in stories, hyperbolic, etc. As a way of conveying messages in ways humans can understand and grasp, especially at the time of Jesus Christ. For God to give a scientifically accurate description of the way Earth, etc. Was formed and made would not make sense logically.
God loves to plant things and watch them grow, even evolution, is like a plant and necessary in a world of chaos to given humans the advantages needed and God gets to watch us grow. Time is also relative, God says he created the Earth and Heavens in a matter of days, but who is to say a day for God isn't a million years for a human?
I mean the Big Bang Thoery literally says nothing came from nothing and exploded outwards at an outrageous speed. I don't know. If God does exist, he is all knowing, look at you, you are his creation, you don't think science is his paint brush?

    Dear Cliff,
I think this is the way you should handle this type of question/statement.
You might not like it but I beseech you to wait until you’ve read it all before you fully make up your mind.
    I think you should agree, at least initially, with someone who says that we are Christians because of being brought up in a Christian culture;
Compared to being in the heart of the Amazon jungle or part of that very pro Islamic world.
Yes Christianity is making great strides in places like China,
but essentially when they say our Christian culture is largely responsible for us becoming Christians, they are making a verifiable truth statement.
Our culture has played a part.
If we were from a native tribe in the middle of the Amazon jungle the chances of us becoming Christians are much less likely aren’t they.
But I would go on to say that the bible says that all those who become Christians are actually predestined by God to do so, and therefore it’s going to happen one way or another.
However we don’t know who is and who isn’t predestined, until they finally show their true colours. Therefore we just sow the seed.
Nobody thought Paul the apostle was predestined when he was persecuting the church.
I would go on to say that as God is just and fair He is predestinating on the basis of need. He needs to. If He doesn’t no one will be saved.
If God doesn’t predestine none will be saved otherwise why is He doing it.
Hence the reason for predestination which is an orchestrated life by God that ultimately will result in repentance.
And God has the licence to do this in Satan’s world which He obtained by being the lamb of God sacrificed for the sins of the world, to initiate this rescue operation, that has been pre planned since the beginning of the world.
I would say that God wants everyone to be saved just as He wanted to not drown them all with the flood, except for the 8,
But He can only save those who want to be saved.
It was too late when the flood came. Yeah sure they would have all jumped on board the ark but there wouldn’t have been a change of heart, although they’d have been very pleased they didn’t drown.
God predestinates these ones that have unbeknownst to themselves a deep propensity to serve God, and it’s these ones that God has predestined.
And as God had to give the world a chance before He finally drowned them all,
Who were previously laughing and mocking the righteous family of 8 who escaped the flood on the ark, Which God told Noah to build,
He also is doing the same thing today.
He is showing them what they are doing with their chance.
But today, as was in Noah’s day He is also giving everyone a chance to repent even though He knows who will and who won’t.
But as God knew before creating mankind that He would destroy them all in the flood except for those on the ark,
He also knew before creating us which ones would join forces with Him and which ones won’t.
But as He needed to save the righteous 8 with an ark He also needs to save us with an ark which we can call predestination, which finally culminates in Jesus Christ’s return to rescue us.
    But the
antediluvian world had gone so bad, God could not get descendants from them who could become righteous.
And therefore as his ultimate plan for man could not be fulfilled He had to destroy them.
I’d tell them that God plan for man is to change them from human beings into sons and daughters of God who live forever. I’d tell them there is no plan B.
I’d tell them it’s either plan A or zip. And as He had to destroy with the flood, eventually He has to destroy with hell.
I think it’s very important to tell people like it is.
They might all get up and storm out but that’s ok, take up golf or go fishing.
Here is my video on predestination. Check it out. Take it seriously.

You have faith in certain ideas and certain people, don’t you?

    • @BUSTEDDVD
      @BUSTEDDVD 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Certaintyexists888 Well I personally belive that "Faith" is absolute believe with no evidence or proof. I would also describe "Faith" as a philosophy more than a "Religion". I belive "Religion" to be described as "Human Kind" understanding that takes law and physical evidence to help support claims of GOD.
When I was studying philosophy I came to the idea that "if I think there for I am" how could I "Be" (described as self conscious of my existence) and if there was "Me" there was the possibility that there might be more then just my own existence.
Even when I looked at the physical reality of the universe I also questioned if what we can feel, taste, & smell was truly realistic or some sort of simulation.
If you listen to people talk about the big bang you'll hear them say our math makes no sense befor "The Cause" of the big bang.
So in my theory of understanding, is it possible to belive that having Faith in GOD is in understanding that GOD Made the "Big bang" which in turn made the path for him in creating us,
In philosophy something could possibly be true even if it dosent make sense to us on any possible scale. The big bang needed a cause (most likely) and that cause could be GOD,
In the Bible it says, 2 Chronicles 20:20. "Have faith in the LORD your GOD and you will be upheld"
GOD also says "He is the Alpha Omega the beginning and the end"
When it's time it's possible that God will save us from some type of end, as long as we keep "Faith" in "HIM"

The ultimate in over thinking and procrastination. You meet these people all the time they can talk the talk but then they start wanting to discuss having conversations with “trees” instead of real people, instead of just getting on with helping create a better world for everyone. It’s the inevitable conclusion of the belief that accidental, blind, mindless, meaningless “matter” is our creator.
