Cliffe Knechtle has a great conversation with college students at a campus in the southwest US. Recorded Nov. 2019
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This is an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

Arguments that Cliff pose remind that our faith is not a blind jump into the dark but a step in the light. The book "Evidence That Demands a Verdict" is amazing example of that saying. It goes over the history of the Bible, archeology, textual criticism, why and what books of the Bible were chosen. The New Testament is the most accurate book of historicity and archeology has always confirmed this. There are 24000 manuscripts that they have been found throughout history that show what we are reading is very, very accurate.

You're at your best in this one, Cliffe. You kept pushing until that girl finally admitted she was a naturalist because she never felt the love of God. Great work. Staying patient in the face of her arrogance is truly a gift and she went away with a lot to think about.

We always want to direct our enthusiasm in the direction of truth though, or we end up being "tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine," (Eph 4:14). We must adhere to Church teaching on this matter. The Council of Nicea declared dogmatically that Jesus was both fully divine and fully human. If Jesus was created by God then His sacrifice on the cross was not divine and therefore would lack any redemptive power. Please read St. Athanatius's dialogue at the Council. It's pretty awesome.

I am not into religion at all and yet I understand him completely and totally make sense. The girl seem to be just try to one up and trying to win the argument. She's not really listening. But all her points crumble when cliffe explain love is free will.
I watch these videos and get irritated sometimes, so I know that cliffe is extremely patient. The young lady came across as highly arrogant. Although I chuckled at his questioning why she is majoring in religion esp if she doesn’t believe In the supernatural, I hope that her soul is saved.

So, Jesus said to follow the Ten Commandments, the Sabbath ( Saturday) is one of them. So, because he rouse from the dead on the third day ( been the first day of the week). So do many believers worship that day as a day of celebration or the day of rest?

@@dorecorder27 I’m almost done, and the day of rest is still on Saturday. If for some reason you mentioned Acts 20:7 and 1 Corinthians 16:2 it implies, celebration, hope, and giving not rest.
Its so common that when Cliff talks to these students the majority of them dodge his questions with smart remarks or answering with a question or dishonestly while he actually answers their questions directly and honestly.
This shows when people behave this way in an attempt for an honest discussion that they are not interested in truth. They are interested in winning an argument or making the speaker look dumb.
We need patience and endurance so we can continue to talk to people like this. Praise God!

Im 53. I was like that girl, until I came to a point in my life, when i felt the light of God shine on me, when i was 50. Hopefully, she will feel Gods light before it's to late.
My story was a little different. I was a Christian, then I decided to seek the truth, and I found there was no evidence to support the religion. I'm glad I recovered from religion.
Pitt Dave go search for yourself the evidence so you don't sound foolish. He is open to all the students and very respectful of their opinions. Watch more of his debates at many universities across the us from Maine to California.

I was once a Christian, then I started to really seek the truth about the claims, including those that preachers like Cliff make. At this point, the evidence for the fundamental basis of the religion are not nearly sufficient to warrant my considering them to be true. What Cliff provides is not evidence. It’s a mix of mostly fallacious logical arguments, with frank dishonesty and con-man techniques. So, at the risk of sounding “foolish,” I’ll repeat my question to the board, “Can someone give me evidence that the Jesus the Christian Bible refers to was either god or the son of god, was resurrected from dead, still exists, or that a god or anything else supernatural exists? @@DJRickard2010 No one can provide proof of existence nor proof of not existing. Believing in God is a mix of faith, circumstantial evidence and philosophical reasoning.
Men have gone to prison on circumstantial evidence alone.
But some people want a DNA foolproof no one can deny it kind of evidence.
God has not done this, and I think he chose not to do that so people who don’t want a “God figure” over them can have peace in the decision they have made. Let them have peace in their disbelief because even if they did believe they wouldn’t love him or want him.
That’s just my opinion though.

Jesus is the Son of God. The Father didn't die on the cross, but Jesus is God. It's not easy to understand if you aren't regenerated by being born again. But Jesus so clearly claimed to be God to the Jews that they tried to stone Him multiple times.
I sympathize heavily with the girl. I have never in my life had any "feeling" of God or the supernatural, but the good thing and the tough pill I had to swallow, is that the truth is not based on what you feel. There are times when I dont "feel" like my parents love me, because we argue or fight or w/e BUT the overwhelming evidence is that they really DO love me because they have sacrificed a lot for me. Same goes with God. I dont doubt that God loves me because he demonstrated so, so whether I "feel" his love or not doesn't matter. Kids today have to stop basing what they believe on their feelings.

If you seek God, God will come. Just like in this world. Money doesn't just show up in your pocket unless you work for it. God is the almighty being. We are supposed to worship God, not the other way around. This young lady in the video doesn't understand that WE need to love and worship God and then and only then if we are gracious enough God will enter our souls and delight us with his love. "But God's supposed to love everyone!" Is something one might say to me...No. When we deny God, test God, hate God, he does the same to us. Remember we are made in his image. All the emotions we have are the emotions he has but a million times stronger. The young lady in the video was expecting God to show her love when her heart and mind was filled with denial towards God. God does not enter into hearts with denial. We must be like children and just believe that God is all powerful. This is what faith is. The young lady thought she was smarter than God so she left Christianity.

First of, these are not babies, there young adults, not being prepared for this kind of discussion has nothing to do with the way they are responding, it’s a lack of practice in how to think deeply and critically, information on any topic can only take you so far if you don’t have the ability to apprehend and comprehend what is being said.
Second, the evidence for the existence of Jesus Christ is undeniable, a simple search in ancient history would clarify that.

You build a successful business and more than half the people in your life just want the answer to how you did it, if you point them towards documents and websites to help they won’t do a damn thing we want it and we want it now. The funny thing is when we get the easy answer we don’t appreciate it at all. They are asking how do you know this how do you know that, and he’s saying through research he even gave them the four tools that every researcher uses to come to answers about certain things. It’s like if we should depend on these kids to bring in the future we’d be in trouble. Go dig for yourself this is why we are so misinformed and easily tricked.

She needs to read the Old Testament and stop concentrating so much on the new. It literally predicts Jesus’ coming all over the place. The whole thing was to ready the world for the messiah. Just take one look at Psalm 22. Or Isiah 53. Psalm 22 literally predicts him dying on the cross centuries before crucifixion was even invented. Prophecy is how you decide what comes from the mind of man or from the mind of God. And these kids are all about science right, scientists have said for a while now there’s an entire portion of the universe, dark matter, that we can’t even see or feel or anything. The supernatural realm is real. It could not matter any less if a buncha brainwashed college liberals believe that or not, science proves it.
Also, these kids want everything “now now now” , they don’t get the fact that time is a concept. God is OUTSIDE of that concept he is not affected by time, he created time, time space and matter all at once. You can’t have one without the other. He created those fundamental laws on the first day of creation, he is outside time.

We can freely choose Jesus and receive the righteousness necessary to justify us before God. I did answer your question. Jesus is talking about His God. I explained that as the God-man, it is appropriate and not a contradiction for Him to call God, His God and our God.
That was His job, to humble Himself, come to earth and bring humanity back to God.

Cliff always brings the heat, but I just want to point out how respectful some of these students are as well. Like in this video, the 9:20 debate with the guy in the black jacket standing next to the girl, it's clear that he didn't agree with her but he didn't say a word about it. He didn't mock her and, despite clearly being expressive, he keep his composure so that he would be disrespecting Cliff and that lady's debate.
The same goes for other students; there was this video that took place the day after Cliff's Golden Retriever analogy when debating sexual orientation. Some students took it out of context but this one guy (who I believe was gay) came and asked Cliff to clarify what he said. The young man was not rude or hostile, just came to have an open conversation about it. When Cliff explained, that young man engaged in a polite debate with Cliff.
It is always nice to see that, despite having differing world views people can truly grant each other dignity, unlike how the world likes to have us think.
This just goes to show us that kids nowadays are valid of understanding! Their parents pay so much money for their kids to get a good education, but to what avail? Let us pray for them because they are spiritually dead.

@@mitchellc4 God is a spirit. Spirit is not flesh, neither is spirit flesh. Two separate things. That is why Jesus referred to his body as a temple. The messiah was God coming into the world. The OT speaks of this. Jesus name is Immanuel, God with us.
Jesus is mediator to the father. He is not the father.
You can measure love. Not based on how much, like the filling of a bucket with this is how much I love you. We can measure live based on what we do. 1 Corinthians 13 talks about what love looks like. I have listed to many many of Cliffe's video's, and I have agreed with him on every point except now with the change of Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday. Baptism (where we symbolically go into the grave, stop breathing, and are resurrected when we come back out of the water) is how we "celebrate" Jesus's resurrection, not the changing of the 4th commandment, which is defined by "the" sabbath, not "a" sabbath (Exodus 20:8, Deuteronomy 5:15, Nehemia 13:22). How is it that someone who is so careful in his thinking and speaking missed such an important point?
Yes, I picked up on that and i suppose we expect the Holy Spirit to make everything that is said by a teacher 100% perfect and accurate. But that does not appear to be so.
( he could be accurate about the Sabbath but that is the first time I have ever heard that point made - as if turning from the saturday (Sabbath) to the Sunday was one of Jesus' great gifts to us - I am not sure it was, more likely it was Man telling God "whats what"...again!
But the wider point is that we often see great Christian men contradict each other proving to me at least that we are very imperfect vessels even when the best of us is communicating even with the support of the Holy Spirit. Its not as straight cut and clean as we would like/imagine. I guess we could say the Holy Spirit comes and goes from each of us and so does the truth come and go from each of us?

It is not clear why this happened, differentiation from Judaism perhaps, maybe Sunday is a more appropriate day because Jesus rose on the Sunday... but the old laws reference Sabbath had not been cancelled so ? but clearly it could cause division - Colossians 2:16 Paul admonishes, "Therefore do no let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day."
People tend to steer clear because as Paul seems to suggest affirming or declining the Sabbath is not to be done. Like celebrating Christmas and Easter!

I believe the biggest problem for a lot of people to believe in Jezus is not their mind but acceptance of the consequences in the heart. First we have to humble ourselves and open our heart for the Lord then He can open our eyes and mind to both the natural and supernatural reality,.

Exactly, relating religion today to religion of that day is vastly different. People worship whatever they want(except Christianity) today without persecution. You couldn’t worship whatever you wanted without some form of persecution back then. Like you said, I highly doubt Orthodox Jews would give up a thousands of years of tradition and risk persecution for a myth.

I love hearing these discussions and spreading the word of God. One thing this man is GRAVELY MISTAKEN, and I pray he will learn this very simple truth, is that the Sabbath has always been and always will be on the 7th day (Saturday/Sabado). Jesus kept the Sabbath. His disciples all kept the Sabbath long after Jesus went back to heaven. Man cannot change the Sabbath just because Jesus rose on the 1st day of the week. The Sabbath is special because God blessed this day and made it Holy during creation week. Sunday worship on the Christian world is the “mark” claim from the Catholic Church of their authority above the Bible and even above God. Look it up on the Catholic catechism. They do not hide it. The sanctity of the Sabbath is very critical because it has to do with WORSHIP. Worshiping God in spirit and in truth is very important to Him. The first four commandments is how we show our love and honor and respect to God. No, the 10 commandments are not abolished. It is the standard of how we ought to live out lives and a guide to show first our love for God (first 4 commandments) and second our love for each other (the rest of the 6 commandments). Sabbath keeping on the right day (Saturday, Sabado) is part of how we obey and honor and worship God.

Jewish people had their own traditions and those are their religion. Long lists of rules. Jesus came to set them free from those rules and simply trust and follow him as he was there to fulfill the commandments and promises as messiah. However Jewish religion doesn't accept Jesus as God. They believe he was important enough to change the Sabbath rules, but not that he was the messiah, so it's very interesting this happened at all.

It always amazes me how people are skeptical of Jesus’ resurrection when given the evidence of many people who said they saw him in his resurrected form and even changed their day of worship to Sunday in celebration of his resurrection, yet they aren’t skeptical of other historical events that happened during those times or even before his time on earth.
Creation is supernatural- the fact she’s standing there breathing with a pair of eyes to see proves this beyond all doubt
Jesus came through the Jewish line and culture, but then though He was raised in the Jewish faith because He took on humanity for our sake etc..., but then he showed how He is Creator and God of all. Sabbath is still Saturday, it was not changed by God, it was, it was changed by man. The early church did not keep Sunday.

Sunday worship is not to replace the Sabbath. Its when Christians meet to worship. Because Christ rose on a Sunday.
Christ condemns Rome but He also condemns Judaism. Sabbath keeping is OT law.
Jesus Christ is the fulfilment of the law. He is our Sabbath. When we trust in Him, we rest in Him in an eternal Sabbath.
