SM465 teardown granny gear 4 speed Chevy trucks

In this video I start to teardown a muncie sm465. I don't complete the job but I point out the 2 main tricks that will hang you up. and that is to put the transmission half way between reverse and nuetral and to drop the counter shaft before trying to pull the input shaft or anything else. I will soon take down this video, then add to it and re upload it, but i feel like if you watch this it will set you up to take a sm465 apart, because the rest is pretty straight foward and obvious.

Why not put the puller in the middle of the shaft at the beginning like it’s literally made to do, no hate, great video just drove me nuts

You can't, it sits too far in

@@davidcraft4909 if you have any old or damaged sockets they make great spacers for pullers, just make sure to use the square side to put the point of your puller in to prevent the socket from swelling, trick my dad taught me!

Can we start from the beginning please? How about removing the shifter would be a novel idea.

You have to put it basically into reverse to remove the shifter, kinda finicky though. To remove the shifter from the housing i believe you turn the cap count clockwise about an 1/8 turn but I’m pulling that from memory could be clockwise
