2005 chevy 1500 excab 4x4 5.3 4l60e. I want to swap to a manual trans. Either 5-6spd. What do I need for my swap? Parts list. Programming for my electric throttle body? Cross members? The whole list. Thank you.
If you do nv3500 or nv4500 5spd it will be pretty much a direct swap. You'll need a 32 spline transfer case though... Manuals and 2500s got the same tcase. 1500 autos are 27 spline. Pedals obviously and a 5spd tune would be smart. You also have to rewire the neutral safety switch
With all of your measurements, how does a T-56 compare in length to a 4L60E? I’m not worried about a drive shaft, but more curious about the mounting options on an ‘03 GMC.
I'd go nv3500 if you want smoother shifts and nv4500 if you're doing more tow/haul kinda stuff. Either way you're going to need a 32 spline floor shift tcase
I actually have a video about this coming out as soon as I get one more measurement.... But. The factory bolted up nv3500s and nv4500s in 2wd and 4wd, so you know they'll fit. I have a zf6 in my truck, that according to my measurements will also work with an LS, and I'm putting an sm465 on a 5.3 for my blazer soon. Just about anything SBC or LS or BBC or Dmax bellhousing bolt pattern can work.
@MartinAguilar213 no, I have another video that goes over the differences. 2wd you could make the s10 version with but 4wd uses a 5 bolt tcase not 6 bolt like fullsize
@GEARHEADdezign what about a saginaw 4 speed? I know where to find both for a reasonable price. Any muncie near me people want twice the price just for the trans without bell housing or shifter and linkage. Then I'm doing the mods for a clutch peddle and so on...I'd probably be in it for 1500 bucks doing a muncie swap. Nearly half what I paid for the car. My th350 is slipping in and out of 3rd though.
Thinking of 5 or 6 speed swapping a 1995 impala ss. I know the lt1 t56 is a direct bolt on (based on what ive read on forums), but those are pretty expensive. What would you recommend?
Depending on how hard to drive and how much power you make, a T5 might survive. But the nv3500 I tried in my Beretta was just way too short for the shifter position. T56 is probably your best option. That's what I ended up doing in my Beretta
Would a 2011 Camaro V6 TR6060 bolt up to a 2003 5.3L? I had read on a forum that the 2010-2011 V6 TR6060's should bolt up but i want to be sure before I spend the day at the junkyard for nothing.

Yup, pilot bearing, clutch and flywheel from a 4.8 will work no problem. I actually have a new video coming out soon that explains all this stuff a bit better
Yes, to use an LT1 T56 with an LS you have to cover the input shaft, front cover and bell housing to the LS1 style. Which funny enough... I'm doing right now. 🤣
@@GEARHEADdezign did you ever try the smaller 10" flywheel like the lt1 came with? I know the LS flywheel is an inch bigger than the LT flywheel. Looks like it would work if the input shaft length works with the truck bushing.

The NV3500 recipe is the same as the factory did 02 and newer pick-up 4.8/NV3500 combo

When I mocked this one up everything was fine. Was the crank different depending on trans from the factory? Cause the 4.8 came out of an auto truck.

I have a genV 454 and a Borg warner T56 LT1 trans. Any tips on how to make this work?
The lt1 is 11" clutch with 153 tooth flywheel and BBC is usually 12" clutch with 168. The lt1 bell won't fit over the 168 flywheel
You could convert the t56 to ls1 style (I have a video on that) and use a regular BBC bell and clutch with adapter plate for the t56
