I genuinely have no idea how impenetrable thorns made it through testing...
I hope they never nerf it, lol, being a sorcery user in this DLC is suffering.
@@wzx6x6z6wand a good percentage of Elden ring fans hate us for some reason
@@wzx6x6z6wjust punch the enemies
@@laidbacksage2574 tbf they got some good reasons, sorcery build genuinely made this game easier before DLC came out.
@@wzx6x6z6w but you're just a bleed build if you use it.
Because why use anything else if you have it equipped...
Appreciate how spoiler free these are
😂 yeah he should of ranked the spells without showing them…
@2Nagakibas777 obviously it shows the spells and does spoil that, but it doesn't show any other dlc content so it only spoils what people know it will
Its as player to be not spoiled just ruins it
This guy is great at not spoiling anything he doesnt need to, i feel like most of the community doesnt care at all compared to other games. Ive seen so many bosses in thumbnails and titles.
Radahn is the final boss
FINALLY someone who has the common sense to show the spells in combat. I don't just want to see the animations people!
Finally someone did the work for me!
@@Tychonious Yeah that's sort of the entire point of this video my dude.
as a int user , i feel like the undesired child next to faith this dlc
And the fact that there soooo many incantations makes it worse...
i think i remember ymir mentioning something along the lines of "glinstone sorcery is the study of the stars and in the land of shadow the sky is always dark" if you want a lore reason why there's not a lot of magic.
Playing for 6 hours now and haven’t found a single incantation wtf
faith user weapon: Weapon wielded by God to slay God
Int user weapon: Space rock
You do remember how broken magic was in the basegame already? There are few incantations that can hold a candle to it.
Maternal staff makes the impenetrable thorns do upwards of 1,400 bleed, it bleeds greyoll in a single hit continuously.
wtf....
Does Maternal staff have any buff to bleed? Could't find anything on that, or what do you mean?
@@deamon6681 I am assuming he says that because it's the only stuff that scales so well with arcane after the Albinauric Staff nerf. It has a Sor scaling only 2nd to the Prince of Death's stuff but for this one, you use arcane and not faith which is much better for this build.
@@louiemimis598
Thanks for the first part, that makes sense, but you loose me again with the second part, what do you mean with "this build"? How is a singe spell a build?
If you have a Int/Faith build you use PoD's staff, if you have a Int/Arc you use this staff, but the spell doesn't dictate wich build, does it? Both builds can use the spell just the same.
@@deamon6681 There are builds around a single AoW and you think it cannot be the case around a spell as broken as this? People stress-test these kinds of builds and I have already seen multiple people use buffs and 1shoting all the DLC bosses with this spell alone. I think that you can EASILY make a full build with arcane/int if you add a little faith with Dragon Breaths and Weapons like RoB or some Sleep weapons that have been recently added
FromSoft balance be like:
This spell does everything and cost nothing
This other one does nothing and cost everything
...why
It's a running joke with my friends that if they find something for my faith build that the higher the requirements the worse it'll be
Now that I'm think about it....that joke kind of applies to the entire game lmao
Flame of Frenzy is a bit busted considering how early you can get it and how low the requirements are, somehow a sneezy flame starter incatation has really good dps and the legendary holly comet hits like a wet noodle.
60% incants are really garbage with the simple context that they're stuck behind this supper hard DLC and some of the decent ones are just not worth using compared to base game alternatves (Ghostflame breath is redundant, so are the Bayle incants compared to Dragon Maw and Dragon Claw; the Multilayered Rings of Light are ok but the more spammable rings alternatives exist; why did they make Spira so bad my god what the hell just use Honed Volt and don't touch this garbage; Crucible: Bloom is hilarious when you put it along side Burn O Flame, Ancient Dragon Lighting and even Godwyn's deathblight lightning; Midra's Flame of Frenzy is just worse Unstopabble Frenzy; Roar of Regalia is just worse Greyoll's Roar; Rotten Butterflies is just worse Scarlet Aeonia and making it just take up one slot wont change that fat FROMSOFT- ).
Not as much intelligence sorcery cause all the real ones are hanging out at Burger King Hogwarts
found some Glintstones in my baconator last week, no complaints tho
I love my Night Comet Whopper with extra cheese.
Starlight fries go hard 🔥
You missed a few of the main benefits of flintstone nails and glintstone trio. These spells can be used unlocked and still track enemies. Magic glintblade and the star spells cannot.
Wow that's huge. Thanks for that 👍
Oh wow, gotta test for myself but that just bumped glintstone nails up dramatically if this also applies for invasions.
Problem is that the tracking sucks. They're so bad I don't get it...
Nails are also boosted by a staff and an armor set. Deals a ton of damage for just 10fp.
I think he also missed that gravity bomb can be made to explode inmediately if shot at the floor
I 100% solo'd the DLC, so it's funny looking at gameplay of Malenia, cause she seems so calm and quaint compared to the DLC bosses, especially the final boss
that dude is borderline compulsive
@@somebody4094 Yeah, I needed a big ass armor and big ass shield to tank his flurry of 5000 hits in a row, lol
@@GRAHFMETALI just tried parrying all the attacks, it works almost as well. If not a bit more risky.
Do you have any tips for me to beat the stupid hippo? Istg, it’s legit the worst boss I have ever fought, I can’t see any of his attacks, I just gave up after 3 hours of constant fighting like a maniac and used summon but still can’t manage it, man Fuck whoever designed this boss
@@drexalte69 For the Hippo I just kept my distance and used ranged attacks. I was running like a coward to the other side of the room most of that fight 😅
If you think that boss is bad, then you might want to avoid the optional boss, General Gaius, who's like the Hippo on super steroids. Gaius is actually my most hated boss. He sucked
You can "Gravitational Missile" to the ground(or wall) to make it explode immediately. It's very effective with an annoying small enemy.
yeah im sad he didnt notice this
Aww no hyperarmor on the moons is so sad, it's such a cool looking spell.
Yea, it's just far too easy to interrupt. I wish it had a point of no return or something where after that is done, the attack cannot be halted, and the only defense is to back off.
That's the case with so many big gawdy spells in this game that is makes me wonder what the logic is behind it, so many would to from unusable to mid at best of they just couldn't be interrupted
I'm hoping they buff it to give it hyper armour like they did with some base game incantations
Hey bro you’re the goat for doing all the grinding so that we can better undertstand all the new content. You are appreciated.
What I find sad about these new spells/incantations is that most of them are so weak/slow that it is more viable to just use spells from the base game. It’s sort of bad design on the DLC’s part
Yes.
At least we got the gravity spell variety for great cosplay potential.
Exactly, the OG spells are by far better, not even close
True. The dlc sorceries and incants pale in comparison to most base game spells.
Oh my friend you are so wrong. There's a new talisman that INSTANT charges spells, but you take more damage. But still, instant charging spells is nuts
I’m really hoping they either buff these spells, and/or add more. It really sucks how FromSoft is basically spoon feeding Faith/Arcane Incantation casters while pure intelligence casters don’t get much beyond just offensive spells.
I get that Sorcery is meant to be the more offense focused magic, but it really stinks they don’t give Sorcery more versatility and utility. I want more support and defense Sorceries. And it really sucks they never expanded on the smaller Sorcery schools like Frost, Magma, Bloodthorn, or Clayman Sorceries in the DLC.
Love the DLC, but man it really feels like FromSoft doesn’t like Sorcery.
these videos are so high quality. I love that when u mention a spell or talisman u show the picture and description for those who may not know it off the top of their head. keep it up : )
2:46 You didnt use Cherishing Fingers correctly at all, its not supposed to do damage or poise, its supposed to be a defensive spell that eats physical or magical projectiles . it’s actually pretty good especially if you use it alongside eternal darkness or inside of the threshold of a door, as far as pvp is concerned its at least a b-tier spell
Edit: take cherishing fingers and eternal darkness into Renallas second phase, the only attacks that will be able to hit you are her comet azure, the wand spin, and her summons
It shows him dodging damage with it too 😭 still kinda bad tho
he tested it in a stream exactly for the purpose you said it's meant to fulfill and it didn't do shit. 85 Percent of all attacks still went through the fingers and they are still too expensive
The main problem with the spell is that elden rings defininition of a projectile is inconsistent as fuck. I used this spell against the sniper crabs it went straight thru😭
@Silvanohnerizz skill issue honestly
@@Silvanohnerizz maybe he shouldve used that footage that shows why the spell is actually bad instead of "mmm not enough damage cant use its terrible"

Love your videos and commentary! Keep em goin
As a fervent user of Stars of Ruin, Ancient Death Rancor & Rock Sling when the game first launched, I was not expecting so many new sorceries like the previous mentioned ones, as they were already very strong. They also look awesome, especially Fleeting Microcosm. Thanks!

Another banger video
Hey your channel is really good. 👍❤️
It amazing to see how broken in both ways some of them are. From trash to super op, twin moons at least need hyperarmor. Larger aoi would be nice, but as is, it's extremely situational.
The finger sorcery also needs more attributes like a large damage reduction. Which would make sense since the fingers are shielding you. That alog with hyper armor would make it useful against bosses with long combos.
Thank you so much for no spoilers you a real one
do you have plans for a boss ranking video? im curious to see your thoughts on the bosses compared to the base game. Love the video
As someone wanting just ONE good Arcane sorcery please stop talking about nerfing Impenetrable Thorns 😭
But impenetrable thorns is a faith sorcery, like the other thorn sorceries. They require faith and their staff scales with faith. If you wanted to use it on an arcane build you would need to use the albinauric staff, and at that point you have to invest on faith for the sorcery and then arcane and Int for the staff, and being split between 3 damage stats isn't ideal unless you are at a very high level
@@Panuromeit only requires something like 10-11 int for either of the ARC scaling staves (new staff is actually better), so for the investment into 25 faith (+1 for Golden Vow) it’s actually not too different from other Arcane scaling builds. Doable at 150
@@PanuromeMaternal staff is the best staff for the spell 100% bleed procs more often
@@wispl2948 that makes sense, I didn't know there was a new arcane staff
@@PanuromeSpell damage doesn’t scale of their required stat, it scales off the catalyst you’re using
V happy that Glintstone Nail(s) and Fleeting Microcosm are good - they're some of the sorceries I'm most excited for in the DLC. Impenetrable Thorns also seems ridiculous in a fun way.
A note regarding Miriam's Vanishing: you can combo into other spells following it up since they begin casting during the teleport animation. As a result, if you slot spells correctly, you can use it as an evade+attack combo.
He said that
Rellana's twin moons is my favourite sorcery in the game, but I can confirm it isn't really good. It can keep some bigger enemies stunlocked like the black knights and also works wonders on groups of small enemies that might not even be able to reach you while you are in moon form. Aside from that, the damage is kinda good, but the complete lack of hyperarmour makes it really hard to use.
It's pretty niche, but it's really, really good when it works. For example after doing a riposte/backstab, you can directly input this spell and some enemies will get stunlocked and get all the 3 hits. I did that against (spoiler of a random, non-major dungeon boss) :
the Death Knight, it worked wonders.
The self-thorn sorcery can be useful when clearing areas with skeletons because you won't need to use a spell or wack them with your staff anymore
You can also just use shared order on a dagger for the divine buff
Youwy the Goat.
Something about cherish fingers you didnt mention is its ability to block projectiles and some spells, which depending on the specifics of what it blocks could have some defensive usage
Out of curiosity, does the briar armor or the new thorn spell able to activate the sword insignia? Might be useful against bosses that are hyper aggressive, if it works, otherwise, eh…
Impenetrable thorns is usable with my faith build too. Love it
This channel is too underrated.
can you rank all of the summons? im bored of mimic and im trying to use jolan and anna but idk how good they really are
What I like about the ring of spectral light is that it’s slow enough for me to reach the enemy before the spell ends so I use it in a similar way to rancor call and I can spam it for a long time, as for the frost build up i don’t mind it becomes it works well together with other frost attacks.
Twin moons are actually insane to cheese stuff behind the walls. Also works vertically.
Another point against mass of putrescence is that if you hit any sort of elevated surface, like a wall with it the explosion just doesn't work... So there's no point casting it anywhere that isn't big and open because odds are it'll just fail
One thing that's really good about Glintstone Nail is its tracking, in particular its ability for you to cast it while riding Torrent and running away
I completely cheesed Sennesax by casting Glintstone Nail and riding Torrent away from the boss, and its insane tracking allows you to not have to turn around and face the enemy in order for the spell to hit
It's the perfect spell for cheesing a boss on horseback
Buen video, una sugerencia, todos esos hechizos hicieran más daño si usaras el bastón del principe de la muerte, ese es hasta ahora el mejor bastón del juego, tanto en daño como en consumo de pc.
Gravity missile can be cast at ground for instant explosion, and it comes out wicked fast too, it feels like the ds3 lava clump but for int
The moon spell had massive AOE when Rellana used it. Guess it's another spell that is better when a boss casts it. One of the Fromsoft traditions.
aiming gravitational missile at the ground makes it explode instantly
which really ups the usability
So Miriam's vanishing in PvP is amazing. It's very fast and it removes your opponents lock on which by they get the lock in back, you can hit them with basically any spell. Very good in pvp.
I think the correct way of casting Gravitational Missile is casting it to the ground between you and the enemy, it explodes immediately, does decent AOE damage and can blast away most enemies when enemies get too close.
What was your build to make use of Impenetrable Thorns? Were you building around it or just pure Int?
With this new options i wonder what will turn to be the best spell list combo to bring both in PvE and PvP
I don’t have the dlc yet but that vanish spell would make my spell sword arena build so good I almost don’t wanna use it
For gravitational missile - it's worth mentioning if you lock off and aim it directly to the ground you can trigger the explosion immediately, allowing a sort of "get off my ass" spell with a big aoe. It is amazing for Pve and pvp
I like the twin moon spell for killing the fire giant guys. You run in between the feet, they try to stomp and you are in the air so they miss. Then they fall over after about four casts and you run to the the face and hyper beam there face with the flask and they die.
Could you please share your build and stats for #1? I want to beat these remaining DLC bosses ASAP
you missed something about gravity missile, you can spam it at floors and walls at high speed and its amazing, i suggest you review it again.
Question: "Does Lightning Ram stack with Thorn Spell and Briar Armor? 🤔
You can aim Gravitational Missile towards the ground/walls to make it instantly detonate for as much damage as Cannon of Haima at less than half the FP cost (and with a much faster casting animation)
Youwy, the grave crow mask (the head piece ) from the dlc boost ring of spectral light
Can you stack briar armor, thorn spell, aaaaand the goat roll?
What build is the character using these? Not sure if the damage on these new spells really sucks that bad, or if you might not just have an Int build here?
a gravity stone armor self buff or equip load reduction buff would be goated really wish they added something like that.
8:00 just like the mistake you did on rolling spark, gravitational missile instant explodes if you cast it on the ground or on a wall, which makes it way better than the fleeting microcosm
can't wait for the incants ranking. fromsoft really dont shy away from their bias towards incants in this game, not only does faith have far more options in the base game, the dlc added 28 incants, double the amount of sorceries
It added 28 but majority of them are bad.
@@Just_B0redyeah I've found maybe 2 or 3 that aren't cheeks
@@sniff494
Maybe few more but I'd say roughly 20/28 suck :
Blade of Ans - Terrible
Heal from Afar - Niche
Crucible Thorns - Bad
Crucible Bloom - Bad
Minor Erdtree - Downgraded version of Blessing from base game, also short range instead of body buff
Land of Shadows - 2nd best incant
Wrath from Afar - Same as Heal but worse
Light of Miquella - 2nd Best Incant or tied with Land of Shadows
Multi Ring of Ligh - Amazing
Bear Roar - Niche
Knight's Lightning Spear - Best incant in DLC
Dragonbolt of Florissax - Missable due to terrible quest line that pairs 2 characters with no connecting points (ok team buff)
Electrocharge - Lol (~50 dmg at 99 faith with 2 dragon seals and full death knight set)
Bayle's Tyranny - Great for Dragon build
Bayle's Flame - Same as Tyranny
Ghostflame Breath - Cheaper Borealis Breath
Rotten Butterflies - Bad
Pest-Thread Spears - Upgrade to Pest Needles
Midra's Flame - Worse Unendurable Frenzy
Divine Beast Tornado - Bad
Fire Serpent - Ok Dmg, only good in PvP
Rain of Fire - Pathetic range and dmg
Messmer's Orb - 3rd best incant in DLC
Watchful spirit - Bad
Golden arcs - There is a better option tied to a weapon (weapon is also great so this is useless)
Giant Golden arc - ok aoe but there are better options (doesn't hit ground)
Spira - Ok for meme build with flask that removes MP cost
you could make a tierlist on how these spells fare in pvp. coz i think some of the ones that are ranked low could possibly be better in pvp
You tested Miriam's vanishing without Radagon icon, so unless you have 70 dex on that character you could give it another chance with more cast speed to see if it becomes a decent reaction tool
It's still the same issue. Start up is really bad but the animation cancel into sorceries is awesome. Recommend on pure caster
Youre going to get hit in the startup frames or the enemy will simply move. Rolling and casting would be ALMOST the same thing
I still think one kf the best additions is that staff that allows you to cast both sorceries and incantations, meaning that int and faith combo builds are more viable nkw
Can you do a video ranking dlc weapon skills?
Thorn armor or that thirn body spell are useful for PVE for breaking combos for enemies by dodging into them or knocking flying enemies out the air.
For the teleport spell have you tryd radagon icon with it?
rank the dueling shield next and then the perfume bottles please
Give us new katana tier list, that i really need :D
Do you find more magic slots in the dlc? Why are there so many 2 slot sorceries?
Is ghostflame the same as death flame? Does prince of death staff boost these sorceries?
Could u stack mantle of thorns with the lightning ram ash of war?
weapons next? i genuinely wanna know
Wild that the moons don't even have a debuff. That's moon sorcery's whole thing!
The most efficient "Sorcery" is the AoW on the Glintstone Kris. It too only costs 10 FP, can be charged as well, and does more damage than Glintstone Nail and it gets buffed by both the Shard of Alexander and Godfrey's. Or you can make it cost 8 FP. The Kris AoW also pierces.
The only reason to use Nail over it is if you either can't support the additional weight of a dagger, or you need some other armament in its place. On average, the Kris does 15% more damage before talismans. It's one of the items that carried me through the DLC when I wasn't using the backhand blades or shard spiral (with the new zero stamina tear, you can spam spiral for ten seconds at no FP/Stamina cost and it destroys big enemies). Actually been delaying going to where Impenetrable Thorns is located though, so that likely would have made the DLC even easier. Although I used Spiral a lot while horseback.
With the Shard and Godfrey's the Kris AoW does 1755 charged at 70 INT. For 10 FP. Against the same enemy in this video, without the talismans, the first charge does 1352 vs 1172 (Nail). Non charged spam shots deal 919 vs 672 (Nail). Nail is garbage in comparison and only useful if you absolutely refuse to use the dagger.
For gravitational missile you can just aim down to make it explode inmediatelly
Whats that sword your using to summon sorceries?
As a pre dlc thorns user. Im very happy we finally have a decent spell
Impenetrable thorns is actually insane. Also appreciate no spoilers
For those of you worried about hyper armor, you can still cast endure on a dagger or something and the effect will remain if you switch to a staff, or you can even carry a staff in your off-hand and do it that way.
That gives you at least three to five uninterrupted seconds to cast any spell you want…provided…you’re not hit by something…like a train 🙃
PS if this has been nerfed, I haven’t heard about it yet 🙃
I knew I wasn’t trippin. I was like why I am finding all these incantations but no sorceries.
Microcosm is an absolute bomb, looks fantastic and pretty functional too.
Are impenetrable thorns good for final dlc boss?
The DLC isn’t working on my disc version and it seems like a common thing due to regional licensing, is there anyway to reach out to Fromsoft/Sony for a fix ? Please I was so excited to play at launch 😞
For some reason I was expecting Rellana's moons to directly fire at the target and then create a shockwave despite that not making any sense given the boss it comes from. That would have been significantly cooler and more effective, though.
Skumnut doing second playthrough with the mantle of thorns sorcery
Finnaly some good blood sorcery.
How does glintstone nail have pretty good tracking when it dose a full on u turn
9:30 Not only that, altering the *Finger Robe* (Will make you look like you gained 200 lbs.) will give you an additional 8% more damage to your Finger Sorceries!
Special AoW weapons next time pls, i really need some idea!
