Also for those who don't know Talisman of the Dread from the DLC works with Blasphemous Blade's Takers' Flame skill and stacks with Shard of Alexander. So yeah despite the minor Takers' Flame nerf in patch 1.12, the build actually got pretty big indirect buff.
Honestly, they probably nerfed it because that Talisman was coming

I wouldnt call the nerf minor. Removing all poise damage and the knockdown effect is pretty massive even if its still good.

lightning one WILL one shot just about anyone. me and a buddy were having a blast ambushing invaders and blasting them with the Lightning bottle lmao it was a 100% kill rate for us so far as long as it hit.

I find it funny how no one seems to mention Blasphemous Blade getting giga buffed in the DLC despite the nerf.
With the addition of 20% attack buff from Bloodsucking Crystal Tear (or Power Within for DS1 players) , and another 15% buff from Talisman of Dread, you can then combine those alongside the staple Fire Scorpion + Shard of Alexander + Fire Crystal Tear + Golden Vow + Flame Grant me Strength, and you'll get 5000+ damage Blasphemous Blade AoW, without the DLC blessing, that can be done at a safe distance and negates the HP drain of the Bloodsucking tear. You have 1 free talisman slot too that can either be for defense, Carian Filigreed for less FP cost or more damage buff

Build I used for most bosses was Spellcaster + Carian Grandeur/Sovereignty Claymore. Swapped to Dex/Arcane build with Backhand blades.
Can you actually ‘cast down’ DLC Bosses (on NG+, in my case), with bread n’ butter spells like Night Comet - etc though ?
@@AlekTrev006 yes. I killed quite a few with Magic Glintblade. The new trio glintblade was pretty useful. I used a lot of Carian piercer and Carian slicer though. NG+? Idk. I’ve heard the NG+ scaling is wonky.
@@AlekTrev006 Absolutely. Casting is still very much as viable as in vanilla. If night comet isn't good, then no casting is good. Its probably top 5 most reliable builds in the game, and that remains true in sote.

Also, the perfume bottles are amazing. Currently using the frost one, and it seems to proc frostbite on larger enemies faster than just about anything. Plus, you can just have the fire bottle in either your off hand or just swap in your main to remove the debuff.
I wish poleblade of the bud got buffed. It's so close to being cool but the ash of war has like zero poise. Such a shame. I actually brushed over bloodfiend's arm and considered it meh, but maybe that's because I was going occult instead of blood infusion
tbh, occult is nearly always worse than blood infusion. You might sometimes get higher AR, if you're running pure arc instead of arc/dex, but you'll always have higher bleed buildup with blood infusion.

a blood bloodfiends arm at max level arcane and max weapon lvl has 232 blood loss per hit without using any buffs

It's like a perfect storm of many factors. It has innate Faith scaling, meaning both the Physical and Fire attack power scale with Faith, making it superior to other Flame Art weapons just like how the Erdsteel Dagger is better than any other Dagger on a Faith build for the same reasons. Since it deals split Fire damage specifically, it can also be boosted by Flame Grant Me Strength, which makes it superior to Sacred weapons as well who only get less than half the benefit from that buff while also having less innate attack power for the same stat distribution. It has the best of both worlds when it comes to Colossal Sword movesets, the superior light attack chain of the Godslayer's Greatsword that can true combo off of a crouch attack (and apparently further light attacks, that part should be addressed to make the weapon less braindead to play with and against) and the superior heavy attacks of the Zweihander that animation blend with your crouch attacks, giving you actual tangible alternative attacks to use beyond _just_ the crouch attacks. We also got two new Ashes of War that scale with Faith, deal Fire damage, come out decently quick, are usable on Colossal Swords, and even apply a buff to your weapon when used, my only complaint is the missed opportunity of having both of them together as a Stance-type Ash of War which would have been _literally_ perfect.
I’ve found the Albinauric Staff to still be way better than the Maternal Staff, at least on a build that has ‘normal person playing the game’ stats, just due to its improved arcane scaling when compared to the maternal staff
It is better except for with bleed builds because they nerfed albinauric too hard. Also maternal is good as an off hand boost for finger magic

Hey I wanted to give you a big thanks, I was struggling on final boss and I did a summon on either day 1 or day 2 to get someone to help and it actually ended up being you. I was the guy with twinblade/ice mist and you helped me beat final boss. I had no idea you did these videos, but I do now. Thanks a million for the help.

I can tell you because I used the blood-infused sword lance and fingerprint shield for the last boss yesterday. It puts it in easy mode. I had fifty strength, fifty perseverance, and twenty-five trust.
As a forever-scrub, I, for one, LOVE how effective shield play still is 😄

why is everybody just now discovering shields i never saw anyone putting a shield build on a "top 5/10 builds" tierlist???
Because it's good for the dlc, wasn't really in base game, too slow. But everything has massive health and damage in dlc so shield plus damage over time off of max health is good.
Because, while incredibly effective, it is just mind-numbingly boring playstyle.

Constant L1 with shield+spear/thrust sword has been the easiest way to play the base game as well, even without DoTs. So, no, it was Too good for vanilla ER too.
However, it's even better in the DLC, because while block-spamming was outshone in the base game by more "active" and shiny builds (early moonveil and RoB, blasphemous blade, night comet, gransax bolt, every stance-break build etc. just to name a few), it's very hard to overestimate its effectiveness in the DLC, where everything is new, fat, agile, and hit like a train.
It's zero percent fancy, but wholly minmaxed to be fully dull yet effective.
But of course, this playstyle comes with the downside of losing braincells at a faster rate than outsmoking SnoopDogg.
I'd argue that's never a sacrifice worth making, while a few would argue it's always worth it. And some would say that braincells must be abandoned, to meet SotE's measure.

Fingerprient is soo strong+magic shield buff is the most underrated buff of the game, even medium shields are able to block a good amount of attacks with thta Buff
i've gotten so close to beating the last boss with keen back blades + multi hit talisman and physick... i don't think i need to try one of these builds yet but i might have to if i am still hardstuck on it after today
For the impenetrable thorns build you can use a dagger with endure AoW to tank hits and not stagger, put it on the right hand and the staff on the left
I just recently saw someone using rolling sparks with a bunch of madness buffs and lightning buffs on the lightning perfume bottle and they did 30,000 damage in a single use, one-shotting Rellana.

You can also buff the new shield, I used it alongside the sword lance with bleed and it does a ton of damage.

Interesting. On my Str/Arc character I've been running blood infused Greatsword with cragblade and have been enjoying it. Bloodfiend's Arm looks like a straight up improvement.

And for pvp there is swift slash which is basically bhs with delayed aoe slash that give you stagger animation when hit and can also apply weapon buff or status build up and recover fast enough to be spammable with minimal retaliation
My bild since Margitt: the rot neddle sword and the biggest shield. The vendor with a heavy armor drops the best shild when he invades you. It has 90 shield power defense when full upgraded!

I think the problem with shield is that in Elden Ring enemies simply just doesn't do much stamina damage through shield at all compare to other Souls series.
In DS1/2, bosses do tremendous amount of stamina damage to your shield, plus both games regen stamina much slower, so you cant just hide behind your shield for eternality.
In Elden Ring, most enemies, including bosses, do very little stamina damage , especially on the most broken finger print shield.
The final boss of the dlc does laughable amount of stamina damage, considering his size.
The Visage shield is absolutely bonkers if you go 50 endurance and meet stat requirements btw. Slap Scholar's Shield on that bad boy and you can stagger Radagon per full stam cycle.
I used the sword lance blood infused and fingerprint shield for the final boss yesterday and i can tell you. It makes it easy mode. I had 60 vigor 50 endurance and 50 strength 25 faith.

Me and a friend switched to impenetrable thorns yesterday and MINCED some of the bosses

Bloodfiend's Arm reminds me of the Demons Great Axe from Dark Souls 1. Gotta give it a try! I love that the DLC is giving us STR/ARC mains some love. I've been having so much fun with the ancient meteoric ore greatsword.
True. I went with an Arc build so i got good drops, and i was pleasantly shocked at the arc weapons i found.
3 really good melee weapons for us if you include the putrescent cleaver (its so fun)

the perfume build is more ballanced in a way because its a glass cannon build. i been running the new tear that gives you damage buff but drains your health and howl making you even weaker on top of one of the new armors that give you a damage buff but makes you take more its a pure glass cannon build

I might do a top 10 or 20. I won’t bother with an all weapons ranking because there will be lots of balancing updates coming up. I’ll wait until everything settles down
finished the last boss with the shield build today, felt a little dirty but there's time to get good later... need to explore the dlc with my new weapons! you still need to kinda learn some attacks to survive phase 2 but if you manage to recast the shield buff you can facetank him pretty well with the fingerprint shield. without it the chip damage gets pretty scary.
apparently, the Black Steel Greatshield is very good for this boss with 100 phy and high holy resists (depends on infusion according to wiki?) and decent guard boost with much lower requirements and weight.
I used bloodhound step on my antspur rapier to dodge some attacks in spite of heavy load. rot really helps with p2. summoning mimic tear at the start of p2 gives some breathing room to rebuff if you manage to lose aggro on the boss.
Defeated final boss today using fingerprint shield build. I was using the shied already but had the wrong weapons. Thanks for the video. DLC complete
I messed with the shield + Blood Antspur Rapier build, and my findings were that the best mix of damage and survivability for talismans was to use Twin Turtlehead Talisman and Pearl Shield for defense and both the Lord of Blood's Exultation and Kindred of Rot's Exultation talismans for damage. You WILL eventually rot and bleed everything, so both of those talismans will be active for 20% attack power each, stacking with the White Mask's 10% (Or you can use Mushroom Crown for 10% while an enemy is rotting near you). I didn't feel the need for Greatjar's Arsenal, as you already have perfect phys damage negation while guarding and thus can equip lighter armor pieces for non-physical mitigation quite comfortably. And as you said, you take damage and heal so infrequently that equipping more defense isn't really necessary.

You can actually Mix the tower Shield and Carian Sovereignty builds by using the new Carian Sorcery Sword which is a thrusting sword that scales on INT allowing you to thrust from behind the shield and it has a unique heavy attack that allows you to cast spells without having a magic staff in your hand.
this lets you do all your basic spells while still having the option to actually attack with your sword and can cast things like Schoolar's Shield on the shield in your left hand, the only problem is that the Carian Sorcery Sword cannot block counter in this setup becuase it doesn't have a heavy attack.
I found this to be an extremely powerful set up for traversing the DLC and whats left of the main game for me to complete.
And in boss fights I swap to the Flamberge Greatsword (becuase it scales with Dex and Dex is my 2ndary stat) with Carian Sovereignty as its ash of war and a staff in my left hand for spell casting. if needed.
Again ive found this to be extremely powerful in the DLC and absolutely rips the main game apart.
Using the new throwing spear with the ice spear ash of war, you can get frost prox in two to five hits. Made the god twins really easy without sleep potions.
Bloodfiend's arm is so getting nerfed. You can basically one shot bleed proc on almost anything with an uncharged heavy on a blood infusion.
The anchor/pickaxe/anchor rkr jump attack with fire scorpion, spear and claw talisman is still my answer for when I don't feel like learning a boss moveset. Both flame art infused. Not optimized really, idk if u get counter DMG on elemental and I'm sure u get more out of all strength but the faith lets u mix it up with spells and other weapons
Bolt of gransax trivializes some bosses as well. Just make sure you have a summon to distract

The impenetrable thorns works wonders on the final boss. After beating every other boss solo, no-cheese Dex on NG+1 I finally got tired of RCM nuking me over and over. It doesn't quite 4-shot on NG+1, but getting a quick two-opening transition in like 15 seconds is excellent. Seeing a 10k damage proc from one opening is a beauty. Maybe next time I'll try that second phase on a nice regular NG 150, for a bit less tankiness.
Maybe it’s just the omen guys but I didn’t have hyper armor when I fought those guys with Carina sovereignty, and yes I’m usia great sword with it
I have an arcane build cranked up to 80 arcane for occult weapons, 30 int/faith for some magic and the Albinauric staff is considerably better than the maternal staff for me. You need more int/less arcane to use the maternal staff for sure.

i was thinking of doing the carian sovereignity build but not as much as the main source of damage, but use it as SOME damage and as a stance breaker and, with a high critical damage weapon, basically one shot the boss. however, if i put the ash of war on a dagger, it gets canceled really easily. do you reckon theres a good way of making this work without making the ash of war do criminally low damage, but also make the riposte do a lot dmg?

I know it takes a lotta stamina to use but blindspot is crazy good cause even against tougher enemies that dont flinch as often it makes them do so
I wish i had 2 or even 3 of those bloodfiend arms because i love switching between Cragblade, RKR and Endure on it. Each one does something great. Cragblade is awesome for stance break and just a nice damage boost for a minute. RKR makes the R2 hit like a truck and Endure lets you just stand there and spam it without having to worry about incoming damage.
I've been dying to use a colossal weapon and haven't found one in base game i really enjoyed besides pizza cutter which is ok and Beast jaw for AoW spam (I think most people don't even know what its moveset looks like). This one is fun. Love the R2 and unlike the club which is split holy damage this is all physical and you can change the AoW (my biggest issue with the club because its aow is mid at best). I'd love 8f with lion claw and finally got a weapon that you can do it with.
Bro, I've been using Bloodfiend's Arm along side Dragon Communion Spell on an Arcane build and it absolutely melts Bosses.
FTH Flame Dryleaf with Braggerts' Roar WA, Raptor's Black Feathers armor and consecutive hit talisman is an absurd (Claw Talisman also can work). Im killing every minor enemy with the light attack, mid enemies with 1 jump heavy (some also need + 1 light). and for bosses they got poise break a lot with increasing dmg and fast speed while I also can buff, heal, ranged and AoE like Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike to ez big enemies
not as broken as Carian Sovereignty or Rolling Sparks, but Im constantly low diffing everything even at Scadutree lvl 5
I’ve been enjoying Scriptsmith Cirque. It gets a B in faith for flame infusion, but you double dip for physical and fire damage so it’s essentially an S.
I’m still using the fallenstar beast jaw. I feel like the people struggling are skimping on their shadow tree blessings and collecting shards

The Bloodfiend Arm is actually insane, I wish I had used it sooner. I had assumed it was a great hammer like my beloved Great Stars, but for it to be a Colossal and essentially Great Stars on steroids is epic.
I could barely get one full carian sovereignty off on Bayle... I stance break him easier with dry leaf. I used it on a Claymore as well and it didn't seem like I had much hyper armor... but that could be because it was Bayle.
Are any of these good for RL1?
I wonder if you could finesse the coil shield into being a secret weapon for the DLC. Deadly poison seems like it could be really punishing against all the massive health bars in the DLC idk

Try bleed infused greatsword with the Aow from commander guise (the spin move) put talisman that increases consecutive hits and lord of blood exultation, thorny cracked tear, golden vow/flame grant me strength and use armor of rakshasa which increases dmg per piece worn. You get so much poise with the Aow and it hits for around 12k dmg when it procs the bleed

For the thorn sorcery if they just prevent scaling its actually still insanely good for bleed procs but not OP like oneshotting bosses, so hopefully they dont nerf it to the ground feel like swarm of flies but as a sorcery and faster
