    I have the probe version.
    In manual mode you can hang the probe into an actively boiling kettle or pan and test it.
    Allow about 45 seconds to stabilise the read as it’s a very very slow probe.
    Mine shows 98C at 100C (208F at 212F) which is near enough for me.

    That really looks delicious! I think I can probably roast one on the 6 in 1 on the grill plate - I remember a video you did of a spatchcocked chicken on the 6 in 1, but wasn't sure if you did roast or grill or air crisp...

    Hey CJ. Awesome video. :-) thanks again. About the probe not being accurate. I just have a thought. When I first got my original Pro grill, the probe was not accurate no matter what I did. I reached out to ninjas customer service and they determined it to be defective and sent me another one. The replacement probe works very well and is much more accurate. Just a thought. Hope you have a good one. 🙂

    Thank you so much for this video! There is so little info on this grill. Yours makes it so easy to understand. I have a brain injury and common sense is the only thing that works for me. I know it's way below your skills as a Chef, but is there any way you can do a cleaning video please? Dropping the grill plate into water just doesn't work for me. I'm 63, never owned a microwave and only cooked with gas, fire, steel and iron. I think "Ninja" are missing out on their "Older Market." Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. South Wales, UK.

    Hey CJ awesome vídeos... Keep it up! Quick question, I want to buy this item, but I found the ig600c and ig651c, they have a price difference, would it justify to go with ig651c? Or should I get ig600c with the ThermoPro TP03B, thanks in advance

    • @CookingWithCJ
      @CookingWithCJ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’d just get the thermopro. The internal probe with the ninja is just ok.

    I know you said you weren’t watching time just temp, but what was a ball park time of how long it took?

  • @tonegrail650
    @tonegrail650 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    My Ninja Foodi Pro grill has the same issue. The smart probe is like 25 degrees off. I actually exchanged it under warranty but the replacement has the same issue just not as bad. I think there is some variation in QC from unit to unit. I've been using an instant read thermometer ever since I ruined a chicken breast using the so-called "smart" probe. I just don't trust it.
    I like my steaks cooked to 120 or 125 for medium rare so I set the smart probe to 100 and it will shut off. When I poke it with the instant read thermometer it reads 120-125. They really need to step up the QC on those units and calibrate them properly.
    Another technique I use is that I insert the probe in the thinnest part of the meat instead of the thickest part. That way the unit will shut off around my desired temp.

    • @CookingWithCJ
      @CookingWithCJ  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a good idea. I just use that probe as a guide to start looking. Don’t trust it much. Thanks for watching.

    Hello CJ! Not sure if you read comments from prior videos? How long do you keep the rub on the chicken before roasting? I have had my 2 Ninja's for about a year but have never roasted a whole chicken. Today I am doing it!

    • @CookingWithCJ
      @CookingWithCJ  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can rub it a few hours before. Just let the seasoning soak in.

    • @patriciapreziosi2819
      @patriciapreziosi2819 ปีที่แล้ว

      Until the thick part of the breast hits 160 internal. The carry over rest will get it to 165.
