Hey Doug: I received the previous model about 4 - 5 months ago ( maybe longer). I have used it a few times. I like it but for me I found it to be a little difficult to operate. That is why I keep it in the box & I don’t have the space for it. This looks so much easier for me & it’s much slimmer. I am on the fence on this one because I own the 13-In-1 dual heat air fryer oven as well. The air fry oven has a sear plate for searing of course & also can be used as a griddle. It doesn’t have a grill feature. I must say your review is very convincing & I am tempting to purchase. Just not so sure. But your food is making my mouth water…
Well Doug, you went and did it. I've been researching this grill and your video, to me, had the best looking food. My favorite food groups: Meat, grilled veggies, cheese and bread 😁. Now I'm dying for something to eat. I believe I can master this device. I've got the Foodi 6 qt pressure cooker/air fryer/slow cooker and love it, but I didn't want to grill outdoors today as it was 108°. This would solve that and several other problems. Great, looks good! I do see a couple of things that I do not like. I do not like the tilted grill plate, and looks like I would not be able to do a whole chicken or small roast in there. Hot dogs look good but I personally like air fry hot dogs, Nathans of course! My foodie pressure/air fry is all I need. Thanks for showing! and glad I waited to watch you cook in it.

You don't have to shut the lid for the grill feature. Pro tip you can also use like a bottlecap or something to prop up the grill in the front for things you are concerned about sliding like hot dogs.
Put the hot dogs longwise. Press steaks & burgers into the grill for even cooking, and they won't slide down. Propping it up defeats the purpose of fat draining down onto the trough.
@@ks5831 the grill grates are thick enough, grease will still Flow fine. Burgers and steaks don't really slide so it really only applies to a few things like hot dogs

Hi Doug, was finally able to get my ninja xl pro. I was setting up my xl pro. I found the machine doesn’t start to preheat instantly on the BBQ Griddle setting like it does on the other setting options I am fairly sure the preheat action should actually start after I’ve set the time and temperature and push the start/stop button to start. But my ninja xl pro same model you’re using in this video: When my ninja xl pro starts on the BBQ Griddle setting, the word preheat lights up with a couple of short white dash lines below. I can hear the machine make a click sound then a few seconds later I hear another click or two; BUT after at least a minute maybe up to two minutes is when the preheat function actually starts and actually preheats then it appears to preheat Hopefully correctly. Can you share if this is how should work or not on BBQ Griddle function. I contacted HSN CS, they didn’t know, she gave me ninja kitchen contact number but they are closed, tomorrow is a holiday, they may not be open Monday either. I would love to actually put this machine into cooking up some flavorful meals. But if all the functions don’t work as they should off the bat, there’s no reason to cook anything if I need to return. Don’t want to have to clean it after a Meal or two to return. Sorry this is long winded. Thanks for your help.

I purchased this model after having the original ninja foodi grill for years. I gave the original grill to my dad as a gift and ended up buying another original ninja foodi grill because steaks are way better on the original grill. I was honestly dissapointed on the latest model. I thought the heating element on the button (of the latest model) would give it a twist and it really didn't.
Huh. You grilled the burgers with the lid on. Yesterday, I grilled burgers for the second time in the identical 7-in-1 Ninja XL grill, but this time, I bothered to read the insteuctions, which said to keep the lid off. I left the lid up, and now the entire house reeks of frying smells, despite the range hood running on max the whole time. The grill marks were awesome, the burgers tasty. Guess next time I'll just do what I didnthe first time - and what you did in this vid - and just keep the lid on.
Great review, I have the 5 in 1 and its the best purchase I've made in awhile. I was planning on getting the 6 in 1 when I wore out the first one, its been almost two years now and its still going strong, so I might have to donate it to someone so I can upgrade. Can you put the Pro Powered Grill Grate in the dishwasher to clean it?? I am worried about submerging the Grill grate in water because of the electric connection at the bottom of the grate. Will it short it out?
It looks shallow to bake in. I bake dinner rolls in the smaller original NF grill, which is deep enough. I’d also wonder if a chicken would fit in there, so shallow. My unit is coming tomorrow.
@@COOKINGWITHDOUG thanks for the reply! The previous XL has the deeper bake pan, as the smaller one I have. This griddle pan in this sits high. Maybe the lid or dome is deeper??

For the life of me I don't know why people use griddles at all, cooking in all that oil isn't the best thing for you. Air frying and grilling, sure but griddle? Not for me. That said, I'm sure it tastes great.

I use the 6 in 1 smart XL grill all the time. I don't find it complicated..the recipe grill book is your best friend

I thought the same as you. I returned mine since I was on the fence. Really can’t bake losing the deep pan. I don’t have much use for the griddle.
