- I restored and refinished this very old Side Table. It was very tired, held together by 40 screws and it ended up being a little more work than I had anticipated. Please let me know what you think of this furniture flip in the comments.

That’s a great little table. Loved how you used walnut for the plugs. Makes a nice contrast on the trim around the edges. Your little helper is adorable.
Thank you very much, I appreciate that :)
Your little helper sure is a sweetie. I’d love this table in my house. Simple yet rich and warm. Well done
You have no opinion other than success with such a skilled apprentice.
I agree :) Thank you
I do lie challenges because they introduce us to new restorers and refurbishers, even if 3 months later. Very nice job and I thank you for your explanations of what you were doing and why. It is helpful when people want to learn and are just starting out. All your online apprentices.
Your youngest apprentice looks about the age of my grandson. Delightful age where simple things like getting an Allen key into the hex bolt pleases them no end.
I couldn't help thinking that in 50 years or so, when this piece gets it's next rejuvenation, someone is going to be cursing you for gluing those dowels in over the screws. 😁 Again lovely work.
Sonny's skill with tools is obvious, the kid's a natural!! Love this little table, never thought the simple addition of walnut dowels and two toned color could create such style. I may be looking at old plain tables in a new way.
Yes, he is getting the hang of using small tools very quickly! Thank you, I am glad you liked the result :)
You gave attention to the unseen underside. You are my hero.
Thank you for noticing ;)
I’ve been watching you since you started and I must say I like the way you do things. You work with old pieces and don’t try to hide that fact, but you enhance it and breathe new life into them. Keep it up! Love seeing Sonny! Greetings from Canada 😊
Thank you Martha, I really appreciate that. Very kind of you :)
'That's a Lot of Screws'. Your Sense of Humor has Emerged! I Like It! Whoever Built it Originally, did Not want to It to fall apart. Great Job! You didn't make it look Brand New but You Definitely Upgraded It! Will Sonny be Helping You with Editing now? He Does seem to have a Very Keen Eye! 💻👶💗
It was definitely intended to never fall apart haha! Sonny loves to help where he can, he mostly enjoys hitting the caps lock button over and over to see the light go on and off 😂😂 Thank you for watching :)
It's really quite a nice little table! I agree with the commenter who pointed out that the plugs made a really beautiful accent to the tabletop. Nice job! 😁
Thank you, appreciate your kind words 🙏
Fantastic job of that simple table. I love how your use of the walnut plugs have become a feature around the table edge. Brilliant!🤗🇦🇺
Deceptively simple table. I love the fresh look.
The little details-different shades of wood, the way you made the table sturdier-are what made this piece.
Thank you very much, appreciate it :)
I loved when your little guy was successful in getting the Allen wrench in the hole. Too cute. And the tiny table? Brilliant!! Using dowels to fill the screw holes what genius, and added a distinct detail to the table.
I think he as very happy with himself!! Thank you very much for your lovely feedback :)
Love love love your little helper!
Just Beautiful! Love that you restored the piece and gave it a bit of flare with the two toned finish and walnut dowels, looks incredible!
Love the contrast! Nice job! Your kiddo is adorable 🦋
It’s beautiful. You respected the piece.
ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS NOW
The table looks much better! Love the extra details with the walnut plugs an different in color of stain. So glad Sonny is well and trying out new skills to help Dad! He's just the best little guy and such a cutie 🥰! Beautiful job! 😊❤
Yes, I am very lucky to have such an awesome little helper! Thank you very much :)
Love the contrast between the top and the edges, especially with the walnut plugs
Thank you, I was quite pleased with how it turned out!
Quite a transformation. It looks very quaint and quirky. I like how the dowels are darker than the table trim. It’s a nice touch. xx
Thank you for tuning in and taking the time to comment :)
A beautiful, professional job. Nice!
Looks SUPER! Well, well done again!
Wonderful job, as usual. ❤ Suggestion: when prying, put a flat scraper or a piece of wood under the pry bar, to keep from marring your piece. One less thing to sand out. BTW that smile from your son, made my day. Big Love, he looks so much like you.❤
When I was editing, I actually gave myself the same feedback ;)
Thank you, his smile makes my day too :)
Lovely work from a very cute little helper 😍😂
Love the two tone effect and using the walnut restorer finish was really clever, topped with a lovely wax finish 😊 oh and you did the bottom of the table too so thank you 😊
Thank you very much, I appreciate you noticing I did the bottom of the table ;)
You and your apprentice do great work. Beautiful upgrade
Nice job. Lovely table.
2 of 40 - not bad.
That frame around the top is pretty!
Very pretty little table, I love it! Very nice restoration! Your little helper is a real cutie!❤❤
Thank you very much, I'll let the help know :)
Nice little table. You made a plain Jane piece look modern.
Thank you very much :)
Beautiful restoration. Love the walnut dowels! I would be happy to have that little table in my home! Soon you will have an apprentice at your side all the time--what a cutie!!
Thank you :) And yes, a very cute apprentice in the making!
Looks great!
Good looking table. I always like the play of a lighter stained wood against a darker on. Handsome tailored table. Carol from California
Thank you Carol, I appreciate your feedback!
Beautiful work - woodwork and filming.
Thank you very much :)
So you're teaching Sonny woodworking and Shakespeare at the same time--"The Turning of the Screw" (The Taming of the Shrew). That piece turned out beautiful!
Haha, very clever!! I like that! Thank you :)
So pretty. Love the walnut plugs you used…great detail.
Thank you, appreciate it :)

Another lovely piece transformed into a thing of beauty. My gradndparents had a table similar to this they kept a plant on in their hallway. QC is VC (Very Cute).

He certainly does enjoy being involved! Thank you very much :)
It’s an attractive little table now.
Nicely done! Thanks

Gorgeous!
Thank you! 😊
If you had to fill 39 holes, I think going with a contrasting wood made the piece so much more interesting! Beautiful work.
Thank you very much, appreciate it!

Little tables like are great just for those little space that needs something or purpose.
I agree, we think it might end up with a plant on it somewhere in our house :)
Great work as always 👍👍

Aw thank you so much, that is very kind of you 🤗 I really appreciate that :)
So, I'm not a DIY expert by any means, but I've found that, when I have tight screws holding something in place, especially those screws right beside each other, I just slightly loosen ALL the screws before removing any of them all the way. Depending on the material they are holding together, if you completely remove one screw, the material eases apart slightly (microscopically!) and you've left more pressure on the one remaining screw to hold the material in place, so it's tighter and harder to remove. That doesn't apply to all the screws here, but certainly some of them.
When you wear out one blade per screw on the oscillating saw: “they’re not here for a long time, they’re here for a good time…”
This made me laugh, very accurate 😅
As always, your attention to detail is mesmerising, any piece of furniture becomes sophisticated after being in your hands! 👏👏👏
Thank you very much, so kind :)
She's ready for a whole new life. Nice work!
Thank you very much :)
Heating up the screws sometimes helps when they are stuck.
Nice job. Your boy is adorable!
Thank you!! 😊 I agree!
I’ve never used Restor-a-Finish, though I’ve stared at it in the hardware store aisle often enough. Now that I’ve seen you use it as a topcoat, I think I’ll finally buy some!
I hope all is well with your family. Take care!
Instead of just staring at it, take a picture--it lasts longer! LOL!
I think you will find the product quite useful, you don't need a lot of it either so it should last you for many projects :) Thank you for watching, appreciate it!
💜
If a rusty screw won't budge, try spraying it with some WD 40 😉
👍👍👍
Great job mate. One thing tho (in my humble opinion), the "universal glue application digit" seen @ 06:38, should never be covered when in use ;)
Noted (; Thank you so much for tuning in!
Not a high-end piece, as you mentioned, but well-worth a spruce up. Would not recommend Restore as a finish. Because it will most likely get a bit of use, a polyurethane (several coats) would be best. Use of two-tone stain is very effective. Gives it a more character and appeal. This table would be perfect as a night stand in a child's room (IMHO). Good job. 👍
Thank you for watching and taking the time to share your feedback. Appreciate it :)
@@flipitnation 👍😀
Odd little table. Intended to be a decorative piece, clearly. Yet the saw marks on the legs suggest something rustic. It’s a little beauty now! And so is that smiling angel of yours.
Yes I was a little unsure what to do with it to be honest. Pleased you like it! Thank you :)
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you :)
👍
😎
Simple jobs can be the most challanging..too right!
Whys this the 4th video I seen advertising this standing table ???
They have a large promotion running at the moment. It’s a great way for us creators to earn some income for the endless hours we put into creating this free content. I’d be lying if I said the standing table wasn’t awesome though 😎
Maybe with wd40 will go easier
