I’m super glad I found this video I gotta older truck that is being built as a prerunner I’ve built everything my self and the dash I want takes 8 months to come in but thanks to this video I can probably make it my self I’ve worked with fiberglass for many years so this is almost like that
Thanks for the Awesome and informative video. I had never really thought about doing a carbon fiber laminate as opposed to a full on molded part. Just ordered a ton of materials and will be trimming out the interior of my grand Cherokee in carbon.
I made a carbon fiber hood skin for a 90's GM truck and it weighs 8 lbs. The hard part is the under-structure. I'm making it right now. You really need to be relaxed and patient when you do this. Currently, I'm worried that because I didn't put filler wax on the lip between the structure and hood skin, so my structure may be permanently stuck to the hood I'm using as a mold. I put on a thick coat of PVA, but that doesn't mean I'm in the clear just yet. Wish me luck!
@@PetesGarage I got the piece to separate! It took about 8 minutes with a pressure washer. It shoots foam from all the cracks where it's separated. If I had just put seam sealing wax on all of the cracks, it would have popped right off. If it wasn't for your video on fiberglass, and the folks from Street Bandito on youtube, I'd have probably never done a carbon hood.
Thanks for sharing Pete. Very interesting and informative video. Hope all is well up there in snowy buffalo. Just cod and rainy here on Long Island. Stay safe and well Artie 👍
Pete, thank you for the great and informative video. I've got a small ornament project that I want to use Carbon Fiber Cloth and this helps me greatly. Instead of a brush have you ever used playing cards to pull the epoxy across the project?
Pete, I realize you work with EFI, but is there any chance you can do a proper tutorial on tuning a Carburetor, and explain how it functions, etc. There are allot of video's on the subject but I feel like your methodology is superior in explaining things. And if possible talk about the old-school poorly designed/run gas lines. Experiencing that with my kids new (classic car). No joke, the fuel line is run under the engine and up the front of the engine (with metal fuel lines) that sit on top of the engine. We're working on rerouting them to come across from fender to carb directly. Hoping to avoid heat soak and vapor lock lock issues. All kinds of issues being experienced because of the artificially high pressure built up from heat.

I decided with your video For the first time, I bought carbon fiber fabric and epoxy resin. Can I make the spoiler of my car carbon fiber? Please, someone who knows, tell me the simple steps of the work. I have seen a video on TH-cam. Where should I do it? How many times and how many layers should I apply epoxy after gluing the carbon fiber? And my spoiler has color, do I have to remove the color completely or is it enough to sand it so that scratches are created? Thank you for your help
@@PetesGarage right thanks, for the message, I have a car spoiler that I spray painted a few months ago, now I decided to make it complete with carbon fiber cloth and epoxy resin, should I completely remove the rust of the spoiler or sand it along that line? Is it enough to make a scratch?
Pete you just inspired a bunch of people to try this at home. That looks amazing!
Thanks Randy, I hope so, it's not that difficult to do

It's very similar to fiberglass, you'll be set!

That's awesome, have fun my friend
Please post a video of your progress.

That sounds pretty cool, good luck

Sounds like a great project though
Thank you so much! Your video is so easy to understand and you didn't waste time to get into it!
Thanks my friend
That's a great looking dash Pete...nice job.
Thank you Gary

Thanks Arthur...just got another foot overnight...I'm really starting to hate this...lol
@@PetesGarage Pete please keep it up there ! Lol Merry Christmas to you and your entire family 🇺🇸😊
That turned out awesome Pete 👌
Thanks Greg, I appreciate it

Yes, I've used cards and scrapers to spread the resin
Terrific work Pete! It looks fantastic.
Thank you David
Thank you for your expertise. Looks great as well.
Thank you too!
What is a good site to buy the fiber and kits? Seems like a cool thing to learn on my golf cart 😂
I usually buy my fiber from Composite Envisions. There a one-stop shop, quick shipping and they have great customer service.
I f you do a search for carbon fiber kits you will find a few. I've purchased from a couple places and never had a problem.
Great episode Pete! Thanks!
Thanks my friend
Looks good Pete!
Thanks Mike, hope all is well with you

It's a 71 Lincoln
Sure I can, I think I can do that from some video I took awhile ago
@@PetesGarage Really looking forward to that. Thank you!
Nice God bless you my next project is 1978 Toyota Hilux dashboard thank you
Sounds great!
Thank you for spending so well
Thanks
Nice work.
Thanks
Good video. Where can I purchase good fabric?
You can search online. I buy from LeapTech Composites
Thanks for the great video
You bet
Thanks! Good detail video bro
Glad it was helpful!
Great tutorial, cheers
Thanks Paul
Where did the get the carbon fiber from? Trying to find a proper fabric that isn't too thick but not too light to use for body panels.
I found many places with a web search

This is not an easy process. You should practice making small parts 1st

You can make a mold for any part. Laying up the carbon fiber is the tough part
@@PetesGaragebut in this video you dont have any mold!
Looks great
Thanks Dee
amazing!
Thanks!
Do you need to protect the epoxy from UV?
No, it has a UV protector in it
