Corsair K70 Core Keyboard Review - Packing a $100 Punch

- The Corsair K70 Core keyboard includes an aluminum top plate, full individual key RGB, real mechanical switches, and more. Based on the more expensive Pro variant, does the core still offer enough to be worthy of the $100 asking price?

Was waiting to hear about this one, thanks for the review Joe.
Joe, I just went down the custom rabbit hole myself. Started with prebuilts (Q5 with Red Pro v3 I use at work) then a couple Nuphy's and Epomaker swapping caps and switches. Then I went bare bones and doing mods (GMMK Pro). Now I finally did a full build of an 1800 from a group buy and supplied my own switches and caps. It is absolutely my favorite one yet (next to the Q5).
Prime Day Deals are already going crazy!!
I haven't owned a single Corsair KB that 8+ months of moderate usage... they start randomly double, triple, +++ typing on random keys. Literally went through 5 keyboards in 6 yrs.
Likewise, modern keyboards are complete garbage, no matter how much they cost. I don’t want to be one of “those guys.” But I’m seriously considering going for an IBM or Cherry PS/2 keyboard. These keyboards are 30+ years old and still work perfectly.
Not all new keyboards is bad. I have a gaming keyboard from genesys and it`s 7,8 years old and still working, but i want to make a next step to mechanical keyboard becouse is much better. Now 20 years on my first pc i had a IBM keyboard, very heavym, heavy duty keyboard. I`m really sorry becouse i was force to give pc and keybord to the trash. Yea and not all new keyboard it`s bad, you need to try first and before to have a opynion.. @@GregoryCunningham
It is sooo garbage and no reviews mentioned that. All payouts
i just ordered it after listening to the typing test.
sounds better than the Corsair K70 pro mini i'm using rn
I am looking for what the size the spacebar and the keys sizes are for this and im having a tough time. If anyone can help me out id appreciate the assistance.
I understand the budget pov but man they should've at least implemented a detachable cable, even super chinese budget brands like RK have it implemented.
honestly the only thing stopping this from being great is not having hotswap support, the latency on these big brand gaming boards are a step above customs so they'll always have their place
Crazy they didnt lube the k70 max but they did on the budget model 😒
Bought it, nice keyboard except for key chatter that wasn't fixed by updating firmware like the company suggested. But when the letter T randomly appears 2ce about 10-20% of the time, that makes the keyboard almost unusable. I was going to claim warranty, but the company wanted me to pay shipping and I'd rather return it and go with a different brand. The switches were nice though, very smooth, light, and silent.
Hey, u have double type issues? I buy this keyboard today and im scary about this.
Yeah, it was bad enough that I sent it back and bought a different brand. But I've heard that some people don't have any issues at all, so hopefully yours works for you! I went with a KeyChron V6 for $80 and I'm very happy with it so far (I've only had it for 3 days)
@@lukejuras8024 But ain't Keychron's KBs have some lag or input delay in comparison to gaming KBs?
Got a G213 that i'd love to upgrade but it's gotta have certain specifics, like:
-Dedicated media keys
-Press/reaction on the keys being the same as mine
-Smooth key sinking without crackings in the middle
Was looking for the Keychron Q6 but hearing the input lag threw me off (I mean, some people says that a Keychon made their DDR on KB experience worse than a gaming KB)
legit just broke this keyboard by accidentally spilling a drink on it 70 pounds down the drain. had it a week. but my black widow chroma v2 has survived a ton of spills. kinda dissapointed
I’ve got an old ass razor keyboard that needs to be replaced. This might be just the ticket.
I think it's the best $100 below keyboard I've used. Great RGB, clean looks, and arguably the best switches I've used in an affordable pre-built.
@@GadgetryTech I’ll admit to being a Corsair fan boy, they’ve been on a good run with products the last few years
From my experience and hearsay, Corsair's low-midrange spacebars are very wobbly. Then again, that seems to be the harshest complaint.
They seemed to have fixed it with this one. Mine came off easier than I think it should have, but the stabs are great
@@GadgetryTech That's good. I hope they update the regular K100 line soon.
I love the headset reviews but the keyboard recommendations are not good.
In 2023 this board for $100 is a joke, should be around 50$-70$ to be "budget king". Check out for example:
- Keychron V series (Keychron V6 - 84$) or K Pro series (Keychron K10 Pro - 110$)
- Almost any Akko board (for example 5075 S or B Plus 90 ~ 100$; 5108 S or B Plus 95 - 110$)
- Epomaker TH80 Pro (100$)
- Monsgeek M1 barebone 100$ // M1W barebone 110$
All of them are hot-swapable with lubed switches & PBT keycaps & sound dampening and many extra features like 2,4 ghz / bluetooth wireless (or full Aluminum body).
Dont get me wrong, I dont hate Corsair in any way, but in terms of keyboards most of the big brands are left behind.
and i got spc gear gk650k for as low as 30$ that is real budget keyboard
keychron is not really for "gaming" they have a lot of latency
I wouldn't say I like ICUE, lol.
Icue is pretty solid
Bought it last week. They keyboard is shit. You are going to press several keys, you will also double press some keys because the switches are trash.
I hate the new firmware for the the k70 core it disables the keyboard
