This hybrid hits a lot of marks. I like it’s compact size, and the increased power is a plus too. I can see this vehicle being used by couples, empty nesters and very small families.
That being said I feel like the interior could’ve been designed to accommodate more storage spaces, especially in the front driver and passenger area. In addition, I sat inside of the Corolla Cross gas version and I felt like the hood of the car was very high relative to the driving position, it kinda obstructed my view a bit. (I’m 5’10 btw)
Drew aka Jim Cantore, why aren't hybrids more popular? It seems a good choice to all electric. Some manufacturers ignored hybrid altogether. Great review guys. Terry
Dealerships are dropping absurd markups on them, so they won't sell.
Thanks! I think it comes down to some manufacturers betting on going straight to EVs. Unlike Toyota, they never invested in hybrids much in the past. Also, availability and price premium play a role.
@@CarConfections everybody laughed at Toyota when they launched the Prius, now everybody and their mum is trying to replicate the success.
Great review as always. This car appeals to me for all the good things you pointed out. Frankly, I could use a sedan at my (middle) age, but there are taller-than-necessary speedbumps on road that I have to travel and I need the extra clearance. The hybrid Corolla Cross checks all the boxes, but the one warning light that keeps me away is the subscription service. I like knowing that if I buy a car, I am buying all its features, not borrowing them for while, even when the car itself is paid off.
Love this crossover! I am definitely getting one! Love the gas mileage!
Thank you for doing the measurement from the passenger seat back to the hatch, I was wondering if my snowboard would fit in this space. I have ordered an se in Quebec but of course haven't seen one in person yet.
Thanks for the detailed review!!
You're welcome! Thanks for checking out the channel!
All Toyota Cross reviews have been positive and the Toyota Corolla Cross perhaps the best in the segment. My daughter bought one and couldn’t be happier.
the problem is finding one selling at MSRP and with the right colors.
$4000+ more starting price, not sure if its worth the expense over the gas xle
Brainwashed.
I care more about my money😂😂😂
In Canada, difference between XLE and Hybrid XSE is only $2K which makes it almost a no-brainer to choose the Hybrid XSE over XLE. Also, Hybrid XSE has a few extra features such as: paddle shifter, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, heated leather steering wheel. Biggest issue with Hybrid vehicle is inventory and waiting time. Waiting time for an XLE would be a few months while the Hybrid XSE would take 1.5 - 2 years to arrive. Crazy time.
Agreed
But it is the running costs that matters to most people
The Cross is the perfect size. But, at that price, I would expect a little nicer interior finish and sound deadening. Although a different body style, the Lexus UX with premium trim is only 4-5K$ more and it is a much nicer vehicle. For urban empty nesters, it would need have better finishing details to make it a true contender. However, at lower trim levels seems to be a pretty good value.
Can’t wait for hybrid Xse rav4 review 2023
Excellent review, I’m leaning towards one of these if I were to replace my Escape!😸
Thanks!
Hats off to you guys for your level of commitment to continue the review despite the rain
Thank you !
I like it! It’s very nice!!!
Hybrid is the only way to go
Great looking car. Definitely getting one. Thumbs up 👍🏾 guys
Cloth preferred
Eh, leatherette is better in every way, especially when you have to clean it.
I need this in an XLE trim with full softex seats.
19:39 did anyone notice the speedometer go from 19 to 29 then to 21? That is very odd. its like its changing different digits at different times.
Perfect 👍🏻
Got one on order as a second car for commuting to work.
I am planing for my first car. Is there still a markup price on cars? Especially on toyota cars. Thank you for the reply.
Depends where you live. Some locations don’t have markups but you need to wait for months to get it.
Very interesting
Rear end color not matching :) I hope this is repaired & repainted and not factory paint.
I would prefer a spare tire to the spare-tire sized piece of Styrofoam. Also, if Toyota is unable to engineer a flat load floor, at least provide a second position the rear floor panel can sit on to make a level floor.
Beautiful car but I cannot stand the seats. I really don’t like any SE/XSE mixed media seats. I think they should really just be full cloth or full leather(ette) but the cloth and leatherette seats with the stripes is very unattractive. Great review!
This is the only reason keeping me from getting this. I wish they would offer the xle in hybrid.
@@monkito69 Exactly my thoughts. I hope they add the L trims. More of my style, more ‘luxury’ than ‘sporty’
Thanks!
Wonderful
is it louder than Prius hybrid? thanks
Yes, seems like it to us. We also have official sound level readings on our website if you want to see specific numbers www.carconfections.com
@@CarConfections The noise level of Prius Limited is blank
23 Toyota Prius Limited - 3
Nice choice
Great size for city living and great mpg. Win!
Looks like Mitsubishi is doing the same, I saw a eclipse cross today where I live....
Best in class
I like it but no spare tire? 😟 Big negative. Is there by chance room to put in your own tire?
I don't like that hump around the Toyota badge on the front. But overall it's a nice basic crossover
Nice
I am the fan from IRAN thank you for your reviews.
We appreciate it! Thanks!
I wonder why do car manufacturers put speakers in their trunks? To entertain hostage in it?
It's to help balance out the sound distribution and because there is extra space back there for larger speakers or subwoofers

Thanks for answering.
Nice car
I like the new 2023 Toyota Corolla cross but I am curious what the XLE version would have
I agree with you
Moonroof, rear armrest, usb, visor with extension, softex seats, 18 inch wheels, roof rack. A nice woman to be with you on long trips.
Honda did it in the 90s,lol. Hell even my tuned 2017 civic got 42mpg
Might as well get a tesla at that price
Hi Guys!
Hey 👋
24 trax comes with an 11 inch screen
No Spare tire! Is this a trend !? I would buy A Lexus NX hybrid at a similar price over this...
Does the Lexus have a spare tire? No spare is concerning.
Toyota really needs to update their infotainment centers and gauge clusters. They somehow still look straight out of 2018. Massive bezels just really make the infotainment screen look out of date. 8 inch touchscreen? Main competitors are getting 10 or even 12+ inch displays at this point. Also, something about the heated seat switches just looks really cheap lol. I do like the design of the car, but it needs some interior polish right out of the gate.
I really dislike Softex, or vegan leather, or leatherette, they're just the latest trend names for faux leather, pleather, plastic leather, PU. It's vinyl, not leather. It doesn't have the feel or durability of real leather, which is what Toyota should've used in at least the XSE.
Honda, Nissan wake up! The HRV and Quashqai needs a min 170 HP bump. KIA Niro has what 185 HP and the Here.yundai Kona N Line up there. These are not your moms CUV.
$40K? This is good budget for me friends.
Let me guess......you'll be buying this to add to all the other cars you've claimed to buy in the TH-cam comments section.
Tesla Model Y seems more lucrative at below $40k (assuming you can get a $7,500 tax rebate) since with dealer markups the Corolla Cross Hybrid will be close to $40k.
An OK appliance but not for me. A boring, almost ugly interior, pretty noisy on the road, no spare tire, wheel spin despite AWD, and overpriced. Mazda CX-30 2.5 and Kia Seltos 1.6T are better value in my view. Most people rave about Toyota reliability but their are generally soulless.
Expensive
Lol. Apart from reliability Toyota offers absolutely no luxury. And please.. those seat designs are bad. Lol
Any halogen bulb use on autos today is unacceptable & cheap/tacky design.
WTH is going on with the front-end design of this vehicle? It's bad. It's so, so bad. The rest of the design is pretty attractive but is outclassed by many other small CUVs. I'm sure it's going to be reliable and last forever, but do I really want to pay the "Toyota tax" to be stuck with an ugly vehicle for a long time? Not really.
😚😚😚🤗
he never gets a chance to drive. very sad.
Overrated and overpriced. Dash looks like 2019.
my 1983 dodge colt got 42 mpg, retailed for about $6000 altogether. They call this progress.
