We recently downsized from a Highlander to a Corolla Cross XSE AWD (gas) . We wanted more simplistic and economical transportation. As 95% of the time, it is only my wife and I and our Golden Retriever, we do not need the additional room. Neither do we need the additional bells & whistles. The RAV4 was too close in size to the Highlander and, after test driving both the RAV4 and the Corolla Cross, we found the latter was more maneuverable for everyday driving on mostly less than 20 miles round trips. We just could not justify the additional $6500 for a bit more acceleration, room and tekkie features. After a month of ownership, we're happy! 😊
My wifes lease ends this April, and we are thinking of going this route as well! The only difference is that we are going for the hybrid version. The v6 AWD highlander is a real gas guzzler, cannot wait for the fuel sipping corolla cross hybrid lol.
I 1000% agree. Why waste 6 or 7 thousand$ of dollars And the Corolla Cross has Newer 5th hybrid technology like the new Prius - while RAV4 has the older 4th hybrid generation👎 Yes, the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid beats the much more Expensive RAV4.
I get 42-44 mpg on my Cross Hybrid, combined city and highway! Also, I chose the Cross because here in Canada the cable corrosion (cable gate) in the Rav4 is a real problem if you plan on keeping your car for several years. Yet almost none of the youtubers choose to clearly speak about it.
they've added additional plastic cover underneath on the latest RAV4 which solves cable corrosion thing. I didn't see review with the cover if it's efficient enough though
I bought a 2023 Corolla Cross Hybrid XSE during a Black Friday sale at my local dealership. I had test driven the RAV 4 several times prior as I was looking into purchasing a SUV, but never committed although I kept trying to convince myself. My little 2005 Corolla S was on its last leg, so I needed to make a decision soon. First time test driving the Cross and I purchased on the spot. Got lucky and save 1K during the Black Friday sale which had been basically unheard of at that point since dealerships are marking up anywhere from 1k-7k depending on the area (I’m in Los Angeles). I had been looking for a new car for about 2 years so I did extensive research on both the Cross and Rav 4, and the process was lengthy due to limited inventory. I’ve had the Cross now since Nov 2023 and I’m as in love as the first day I test drove it. Rav 4 was ultimately too big and a bit over priced in my opinion. I do field work so I needed a good commuter car that wasn’t difficult to park. The Cross also has the latest Toyota Safety Sense technology as some people have pointed out in the comments. I use the adaptive cruise control daily which has basically changed my life as I commute at least an hour both ways to and from work, not including any driving I do for work throughout the day. Since I didn’t need the extra room, and wasn’t looking to pay 7k-10k more (including possible makeup) for a RAV 4 so the Cross was a no brainer for me. I’m 5’ and my husband is 6’1 and we can both drive it comfortably. Some people commented that it doesn’t come with a spare so that’s an automatic no. Well you can put in a spare without a problem if you don’t mind compromising some fuel efficiency. My plan is to just buy a 5th tire to have at home. I have AAA so I can easily be towed at any moment. Not something I’m particularly worried about at the moment so we’ll see if that changes in the future. So far I’m happy with my purchase.
You ignored one of the possible big advantages of the CC. Maneuverability. The R4 may be the better highway cruiser, but most drive in town for short errands. Maneuvering through traffic and parking lots might make the CC shine over the R4. Regardless, I enjoyed your informative video. thx
I had a 2022 rav4 le awd as a rental for a little over 2 weeks, drove it over 1000+km. Great car really but in Canada it costs the same as my 2023 corolla cross hybrid se. I am nothing but impressed with my corolla cross hybrid, it wowed me the first time I drove it. Now with 1000kms on the car and breaking it in, it actually drives better in every single way. Its now faster, more efficient, smoother, quieter etc. You name it, its just improved with proper economical driving. The car handles unbelieveably well, the awd is awesome you can actually swing the back end out the torque is great. Very neutral in corners, no understeer if anything it slightly oversteers on the power (on firestone winterforce 2). The fuel economy is ridiculous, by far the largest improvement after 1000km. I was getting around 5.8-6.0L/100km when I first got the car now I'm REGULARLY getting under 5L/100km I cannot believe the effieciency. I can't believe this car is even on the market I feel so lucky to have gotten one. I swear the difference between a gently broken in corolla cross hybrid and a BRAND NEW one with like 10kms on it is actually night and day. This drivetrain is impeccable to say the least and the new 5th gen hybrid system is the very best hybrid system there is. The corolla cross hybrid is the brand new prius with a sporty lift and I think thats the best way to put it. I seriously urge anyone considering one to look into the corolla cross hybrid its truely wowed me and I really hope this car will be as good to me as I will be to it!
This test comparison doesn't even mention that the Cross has the 5th generation Toyota hybrid engine and drivetrain vs. the RAV-4 's 4th generation. The Cross also has advanced safety features not available on the RAV-4.
Recently bought a Corolla Cross Hybrid and love it. I preferred the smaller size because it is more maneuverable and easy to parallel park in the city. Length/width is basically the same size or smaller than some compact sedans. It has the new 5th Gen hybrid engine like the new Prius. Front seats are comfortable and roomy. Driver's seat easily adjusts for me (6' 0'") and my wife (5' 1"). Back seat leg room is average for adults, definitely not "spacious". Probably not the easiest to get a car seat in there if you have kids.
We’ve had our CC XSE Hybrid for almost a year - we PCS across the country in it with 2 cats and 1 pittie. We’ve no complaints about it and we’re about 16k into it. Mostly keep it in ECO mode but sport is fantastic when you’re merging onto a hwy/freeway and need the acceleration. We’re 5’9 and 5’5 so not a ton of issues with legroom in the back if we sit back there. The only things I wished it had are a heating steering wheel and the different adjustments saved *our truck had that driver 1 and driver 2*. I also wish they would’ve had the black badging also have black trim where the chrome is. Not a huge fan of that. OH and we also picked this one because our kayak is so much easier to get onto the rails than the RAV4.
The more expensive car won a straight-across comparison contest… I’m stunned 🥴 don’t think a point system like this is the most effective for this kind of review
The Corolla engineers chose a hybrid battery wire over a spare tire. So until they relocate the wire and add the spare tire back in, the RAV4 is the better choice for me.
I would love a Rav4 but the front legroom isn't as good as the Cross for taller people. I hope the refreshed 2025 Rav has better legroom and is quieter.
Thanks.... I have been considering these two and trying to decide if the less room of the CC was worth it.... but I don't think it is. Nice to know the RAV4 real-world came out better.
Thanks for this! This video is pretty much EXACTLY what I was hoping to find on TH-cam. I expect you'll get a ton of views, especially from the Rocky Mountain West -- where some days it seems like half the cars on the road are either RAV4s or CRVs. (And the other half are Subarus.) Great job!
It always amazes me when reviewers say that the Rav4 has a good ride and is quiet. I looked at the Rav4 hybrid, the Corolla Cross hybrid and the Venza. Guess what cars I bought?...the Rav4 has a terrible ride and has the loudest cabin I have ever been in. The venza and the cc had the best ride and the quietest interior of the 3. Thanks for the review but from 2 people, me and my lady that got car sick from the RAV4 I dont understand your opinion on this one.
I bought a 23 RAV4 limited in August, I was achieving over the epa rating for fuel efficiency until now when the air temperature has dropped enough to require heating, I’m now just under 40 mpg instead of 42 mpg
Safety System is the same for both? I'm disappointed with the RAV4's that I rented last week: the lane-keeping rarely worked. The radar was tricky to use but I found it accelerated too quickly (on ECO mode) and braked too hard when approaching a slow moving truck from a long way away. Without pushing the accelerator, I never got it to start itself in slow bumper-to-bumper traffic. The Corolla (non-cross) was much better; how is the Corolla Cross?
Maybe if you are getting either fresh from the dealership. Comparisons like these are more useful if you are comparing, say, a 2021 Rav4 with some miles and scratches vs a new CC. Besides, with all cars trending towards SUVs, and SUVs being more samey than sedans, the comparison still holds.
its a shame because the ravs used to be much like the new corolla cross size and handling wise, but they basically turned the rav into the Highlander and the Corolla into the Rav. The Rav was originally designed to be a compact SUV. but now its leaning more towards just an SUV with a sucky turn radius and wider body. So it defeats its original purpose
Me too. Corolla cross hybrid Japanese assembled 2023 does 57 mpg and don't want the rav 4 size. So much better size especially for parking and maneuverability. As for engine straining , it's not a racing car it's a commuter
I’m sold on the Corolla Cross. I do mostly city driving short distances and being retired I don’t need the top model with all the glam. Not ready to go electric yet and I love new technology so this hybrid fits the bill for me.
I really struggled to understand the market for this car. But then I realized, my mother is the market here. She bought a rav4 but never takes it off the pavement and wishes she spent less. I think if it was available at the time the carolla cross would have been her pick
Thanks for this comparison. This solidifies my decision and I'm going to buy a Corolla Cross. It's just me and my daughter and I don't drive long distances and I'm not looking for all the bells and whistles.
What I meant to say in my previous post was, I wish I could’ve built the car and put on the cheapest rims you could possibly put on the car that would’ve brought the cost down dramatically I don’t care about rims. In fact, I consider fancy expensive rims a liability.
I would pick NONE of these vehicles due to their high prices..... at $45,000 for the RAV4, I can buy a 3 year old Lexus RX350...... with nearly $40,000 for the Corolla Cross, I can get a gently used Toyota Highlander.....
Contemplating these both for my wife's 14km round trip work commute. Corolla Cross Hybrid XLE in our small garage looks good enough. This will be our 7th Toyota. The lack of a spare concerns me. As a Canadian would a CAA membership be wise? Triple A for you Yanks...
And for this comparison maybe night because our daughter RAV4 is the best seller I'm still going for the CR-V cuz it has the most cargo space or the Nissan Rogue the RAV4 is just too pricey play perhaps for The Limited option on things weather on the Nissan Rogue Platinum everything is standard
If you live in the rust belt look up Toyota "cablegate" the high voltage cable going to the rear motor corrodes after 1-3 years because it's exposed to salt. The cross doesnt have this problem because their cable run inside the car. I went with the Cross because of this even though the Rav4 beats it in every category.
This comparison is very detailed, and it's very informative. If i have choose i guess i will go with Rav 4 PHEV since it's good to have an option both Electric and Fuel.
I bought a 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross and every time it rains, the whole rear window gets condensation on the inside and i cannot see through the rear window. Plus, they added $ 999.00 dollars for, this sounds funny but for 'PAINT AND FABRICK'. fabric is scotchgard and PAINT is well paint. The paint job on my vehicle is not the best quality and gets dirty fast and i have some scuff marks that they tried to cover up by trying to wax polish the marks away. I said to the salesman that in a few days the wax will be gone, and with the weather the marks will still be there. And there were and still are. One more thing check what they put for the carpet? It is not carpet through the whole vehicle, but it is underlay, not carpet. CHEAP CRAPET!
So, if you don't account for a lousy $6,000 difference, the RAV4 is ELEVEN AND A HALF TIMES THE VEHICLE than the Corolla Cross... Um, what do you think, Mabel? (Mabel hits me over the head with her umbrella while she chooses the color on her RAV4 Hybrid, hoping it doesn't take a year to get to her)
I always believe you should always add a half a point for the fact that the RAV4 is one of the ONLY vehicles that takes care of your passenger-side blind spot in front of the mirror at the A-pillar. Even as vehicles are putting their mirrors on the doors nowadays, most of them are still blocking that triangle in front to be able to see if kids are running in front of your vehicle from that direction!
Please do a comparison of cars with good suspensions and big seats for us hot gurls with phat juicy yams who find it hard to sit in regular car seats and need to protect our BBLs. Thanks
And what's the point of all these comparisons if you basically can't get any of these cars due to no inventory? It's like smoke and mirrors. They don't really exist
I purchased a brand new 2022 Rav4 and hated that car. So noisy, the engine makes such a growl plus the interior was not well laid out. They need to quiten the engine down. Wish i could love it but i didn't

I have a crown cost 2023. I love it but I wish I could’ve saved money by having ugly rims the cheapest ones I wish I could’ve put those on there. I’m gonna throw away that locking lug nut and I hope that somebody steals those stupid rims

As a Corolla Cross Hybrid owner I can say that your test is not entirely relevant!
My parents got me one for my first car and it’s super easy to drive
After owning my 2023 Corolla Cross for 1 year, I absolutely love it. It’s a great car for my needs and I plan to own it for a very long time

Maybe that's why the Corolla ditched the spare tire to move the hybrid battery connection inside away from the elements?
I think you’re right!

Many times the opposite occurs 🤷♂️

Yeah but I heard the wire over time since it's in the elements will go bad. Depends where you live

Yes much better leg room!
I rented a 2024 rav 4. I’m 6’3” all legs and it’s perfect.
Thanks.... I have been considering these two and trying to decide if the less room of the CC was worth it.... but I don't think it is. Nice to know the RAV4 real-world came out better.
Good review! Was feeling 😢 super confused between getting Cross hybrid and Rav4 hybrid. This clears up some doubts😊
Glad it was helpful!
What did you pick?
Thanks for this! This video is pretty much EXACTLY what I was hoping to find on TH-cam. I expect you'll get a ton of views, especially from the Rocky Mountain West -- where some days it seems like half the cars on the road are either RAV4s or CRVs. (And the other half are Subarus.) Great job!
stopped watch ing video when he talked about prices of both cars... wtf when did cars get so expensive. No wonder everyone is broke.
You forgot about handling and nimble and easier to park which the Corolla shines on both.
Not many ppl mention that the Ravens only has TSS 2.5 while the Corolla has TSS3.0 which has lane centering and intersection stuff
It always amazes me when reviewers say that the Rav4 has a good ride and is quiet. I looked at the Rav4 hybrid, the Corolla Cross hybrid and the Venza. I started using upside also and it is amazing also since using it also the rav 4 is the way to go definitely looks a lot better then the Corolla cross
We need the corolla wagon in the stares. Why Europe has all the fun.
Thank you very much for this review!!! Much needed for my family and I!! Great explanation of both cars 👏
Glad it was helpful! Good luck with your upcoming purchase!
I 1000% agree.
Why waste 6 or 7 thousand$ of dollars And the Corolla Cross has Newer 5th hybrid technology like the new Prius - while RAV4 has the older 4th hybrid generation👎
Yes, the Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid beats the much more Expensive RAV4.
I bought a 23 RAV4 limited in August, I was achieving over the epa rating for fuel efficiency until now when the air temperature has dropped enough to require heating, I’m now just under 40 mpg instead of 42 mpg
Hybrid right?
@@adon8672 right
We just got the Cross 2024 Hybrid for my wife and she is very happy, I got the 2018 Tacoma.
How much the total price you got for Cross hybrid
Safety System is the same for both? I'm disappointed with the RAV4's that I rented last week: the lane-keeping rarely worked. The radar was tricky to use but I found it accelerated too quickly (on ECO mode) and braked too hard when approaching a slow moving truck from a long way away. Without pushing the accelerator, I never got it to start itself in slow bumper-to-bumper traffic. The Corolla (non-cross) was much better; how is the Corolla Cross?
I just bought a 2024 Corolla Cross Hybrid GR-S and love it so much. It's smaller than my son's 2023 Rav4 hybrid XSE.
Comparing these 2 vehicles is like comparing a Camry to a Corolla, I don’t see the point!!
I've watched soooo many reviews and this is easily the best and most thorough wow, thanks for doing such a great job 👏
Glad you enjoyed!
Is Corolla cross tss 3.0 worth it than getting RAV4 with only 2.5?
I’m sold on the Corolla Cross. I do mostly city driving short distances and being retired I don’t need the top model with all the glam. Not ready to go electric yet and I love new technology so this hybrid fits the bill for me.
I have a gasoline RAV4 Limited and is a great SUV but Toyota has to work hard on noise isolation, it’s very noisy at high speeds.
Yep... I think the RAV4 noisy ride is why folks select the Venza.
Best review I have seen.
Thank you, friend!
Been super excited for this comparison, fantastic video!!!
Glad to hear it!
Just bought a 24 Corolla cross XLE like it so far. I owed a new Rav 4 wasn’t completely satisfied
Have you guys considered comparing the Corolla Cross vs Subaru Crosstek?
I really struggled to understand the market for this car. But then I realized, my mother is the market here. She bought a rav4 but never takes it off the pavement and wishes she spent less. I think if it was available at the time the carolla cross would have been her pick
Thanks for this comparison. This solidifies my decision and I'm going to buy a Corolla Cross. It's just me and my daughter and I don't drive long distances and I'm not looking for all the bells and whistles.
Glad it was helpful!
That was very informative, Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Seems like Rav4 won by KO 😂
What do you expect. It's 10k more expensive here out of the dealership 😂
This was sooooo helpful! Thank you!
Glad to help!
Getting my Rav 4 today i cant wait
Same :)
What I meant to say in my previous post was, I wish I could’ve built the car and put on the cheapest rims you could possibly put on the car that would’ve brought the cost down dramatically I don’t care about rims. In fact, I consider fancy expensive rims a liability.
Both of these modell are great.
Own both of them 😊😊 0:50
Problem is, these Toyota Hybrids are over a year wait :(
I would pick the RAV4!
I would pick NONE of these vehicles due to their high prices..... at $45,000 for the RAV4, I can buy a 3 year old Lexus RX350...... with nearly $40,000 for the Corolla Cross, I can get a gently used Toyota Highlander.....
Better yet, purchasing an approved used Rav4 with less than 25k miles will be a great bargain also.
How i know Cross have last version hybrid system than rav4
Contemplating these both for my wife's 14km round trip work commute. Corolla Cross Hybrid XLE in our small garage looks good enough. This will be our 7th Toyota. The lack of a spare concerns me. As a Canadian would a CAA membership be wise? Triple A for you Yanks...
I'll take the RAV4 all day long
Thanks for the comparison. Liked and sub'd.
Great! Welcome to the Car Confections family!
Why is it some TH-camrs say that "it's only 4 inches longer" while other says "it's a whole 2 inches longer"?
And for this comparison maybe night because our daughter RAV4 is the best seller I'm still going for the CR-V cuz it has the most cargo space or the Nissan Rogue the RAV4 is just too pricey play perhaps for The Limited option on things weather on the Nissan Rogue Platinum everything is standard

The cross doesnt have this problem because their cable run inside the car. I went with the Cross because of this even though the Rav4 beats it in every category.
cross doesn't have rear motor, that's why no cable. And rav4 added plastic cover for the cable connection, so should partially solve this issue
This comparison is very detailed, and it's very informative.
If i have choose i guess i will go with Rav 4 PHEV since it's good to have an option both Electric and Fuel.
Thanks!
Thank you getting mine today
I bought a 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross and every time it rains, the whole rear window gets condensation on the inside and i cannot see through the rear window. Plus, they added $ 999.00 dollars for, this sounds funny but for 'PAINT AND FABRICK'. fabric is scotchgard and PAINT is well paint. Day 6 of asking for 2023 Toyota RAV4 vs Nissan Rogue 🙃
The cross was made because of the CHR replacement and because of the CX 50 in Alabama plant that’s all
Couldn't go wrong with these crossover. Rav4 is a bit more more versatile though
It's amazing battle but RAV4 is more powerful
RAV4 vs. Lexus NX 😂
Love it
Of cource RAV4. much better car overall. More power, more space, more tech, more lux
labas!
@@braetonwilson4296 Labas?
Labas Zydrunas is how you greet someone in Lithuania.
@@braetonwilson4296 Yes i am from Lithuania
@@braetonwilson4296 Why you asking?
Güzel makine, inşallah almayı düşünüyorum 😊
I want the Corolla cross so bad ❤
Great review
So, if you don't account for a lousy $6,000 difference, the RAV4 is ELEVEN AND A HALF TIMES THE VEHICLE than the Corolla Cross... Um, what do you think, Mabel? (Mabel hits me over the head with her umbrella while she chooses the color on her RAV4 Hybrid, hoping it doesn't take a year to get to her)
I always believe you should always add a half a point for the fact that the RAV4 is one of the ONLY vehicles that takes care of your passenger-side blind spot in front of the mirror at the A-pillar. Even as vehicles are putting their mirrors on the doors nowadays, most of them are still blocking that triangle in front to be able to see if kids are running in front of your vehicle from that direction!
rav 4 always,
İ have an opinon for 500k subscribe thanks video: convert a car with donuts i love you guys ❤
Please do a comparison of cars with good suspensions and big seats for us hot gurls with phat juicy yams who find it hard to sit in regular car seats and need to protect our BBLs. Thanks
Don't forget to say Corolla Cross has NO SPARE TIRE. Show stopper right there
My corolla cross 2024 has a spare tire
@@Adri_anab is it the hybrid? Maybe the non-hybrid does
You guys are in a Toyota product now
And what's the point of all these comparisons if you basically can't get any of these cars due to no inventory? It's like smoke and mirrors. They don't really exist
I purchased a brand new 2022 Rav4 and hated that car. So noisy, the engine makes such a growl plus the interior was not well laid out. They need to quiten the engine down. Wish i could love it but i didn't
I vote CC
❤Turkiyede lansmani yapilip
Bayilerin bile 2024 de sansinizi deneyin dedigi araba corolla cross
Çağrı merkezi çaresiz ..
Kimse hiçbirşey bilmiyor
Filolar yollarda hemde çok sayida
Sari siteler dolu.. yuksek fiyata..
Araç varmi Yok ...
Satış politikasi cok kotu bence
Toyota turkiye ne yapmaya çalışiyor anlamış değilim
Araç yok mu var mi ne yapildiğı belli degil
4 zam gördü bile
hindistani lezzetle?
Horrible pricing for a small SUV.
I have a crown cost 2023. I love it but I wish I could’ve saved money by having ugly rims the cheapest ones I wish I could’ve put those on there. I’m gonna throw away that locking lug nut and I hope that somebody steals those stupid rims
42 bands on a crossover with a weak 4 banger has got to be the worst financial decision man could make
well you guys help me in a decision’s what to buy , Rav 4 it is 😄
Glad we could help!
Cross
So you drive a bmw and make reviews on Toyota?😂
Your prices of both models are inflated
That is what they cost 🤷♂️
Go to your local Toyota dealer and see who's really inflated.
gross
Its The Rav 4 Me, Ha Get it 😂 Jk, Anyways 2.5 N/A with an actual 8 Speed Auto Transmission instead of a puny cvt is a win for me 🫡
