MUCH older here, looking for a higher seat on the road to combat the oncoming headlights a bit and,of course, higher seats for ease of entry and exit. I have not test driven a car in 20 years and I am intimidated by all the tech I have deliberately avoided.
      I wouldn't mind driving a hipster vehicke.

Just a few years ago Car shopping was in my opinion pretty easy. Everybody knew their favorite company, and most likely what car they wanted to go with. A couple years later here we are with so many more options and an open mind to all the brands these days especially the Korean brands. So much harder to choose what you like the best.

It was always frustrating. Honest and knowlegible answers to the questions actually being aked were rarely forthcoming. I found even in the 1970s salesmen couldn't answer technical questions and I always felt like starting the conversation with 'So can you tell me anything about this truck or do you just sell them?' I figured anyone who used a vehicle for work likely knew more about it than any salesman would. Apart from cupholders and floormats.

We just test drove one today. The engine was very loud. Road noise in the cabin was above reasonable conversation levels. My 5'7" wife couldn't get the drivers seat high enough to see over the hood. It's cute. That's it. Oh, she currently has a Rav 4.

Exactly! Went to a local dealer, they had literally two Camry. Said the cross were already sold out the rest of the year. If they had extra they kept them for lease as they make more profit than financing.

Coming from a 2010 Matrix, I looked at the Cross (gas model) when I was car shopping. If the hybrid had been available when I was looking (Nov '22), I probably would have gotten that instead of my Rav4 Hybrid. That said, I love the Rav and have gotten accustomed to having a larger vehicle. I hope you guys enjoyed SoCal! We have had so much rain lately, I'm glad it looks like the sun was shining for you guys. :)

Bought a new 21 RAV4 XLE Premium gas two years ago and definitely would have considered the CC if it had been available then and we're retired and almost 70 yrs old!! I definitely agree with Andrea that the lighter interior offered on the gas model should be available on the Hybrid. It has such a more upscale look to it!!!

The lighter macadamia colored material makes all vehicles look more luxurious.... I much much much prefer the light colored interior but wish it came with the hybrid model.

My boyfriend has the Rav4 limited and he loves it, it is a really nice car and I considered it, but I couldn't take the plunge. My issue with the previous cross was the lack of power in the engine! It sounds like the fixed it. I think for the price the XSE is worth the cost. I prefer the display on it and that is a point for the XSE vs XS. I personally will stay away from the base model since it is missing a lot of the features that other cars on the market for the price. Thanks for the review! Can't wait to own one!

If you don't drive a miniumum of 15k a year, buying an EV or Hybrid will not provide value. Thoses batteries (half the cost of a car) age whether you use them or not. Driving 3 to 5K a year, and your battery will not last any longer. EV and Hybrids are throwaway. One minor accident involving your battery is going to be the end of that vehicle for purposes of insuring. Think and study the market before you plunge.

Buying a hybrid and not putting at least 15k miles a years will substantially degrade the value of your purchase. The batteries have a pre-determined life and it doesn't get longer not using it. If the battery has a life expectancy of 10 years and you put 30k on your car during that period, you will need to replace it to continue to drive it, and that at this time is prohibited by the replacement costs. Ask an insurance agent what it's going to take to total out an EV. One minor hit with damage around that battery and it's all over.............

    • @seymorefact4333
      @seymorefact4333 ปีที่แล้ว

@coolnout3765 the insurance premiums on Lithium EV are very high. My 2012 prius with the Nickel.. last time I checked to replaced is $1400. Original in 2012 ,$4000. Prices for the nickel have gone down. I see plenty of 2nd gen Prius around. Premium for my prius is less than my wife's 2010 camry.

Thanks for the review on the Cross. I'm replacing my 2007 Toyota Matrix and wondering if the cross is similar size to that car or ?
I do need to say that Toyota let the cablegate persist and still do in the Rav4. As far as I know....they extended the warranty, but really have not properly addressed the corrosion cable issue in the Rav4. For those of us that keep our car 10+ years, that is a deal breaker for the rav4.

Great video. I have a 2012 Rav4 V6 which in it's 164,000 miles has pretty much been flawless, even though the gas mileage stinks. When this vehicle finally dies (probably in 20 years) the Toyota hybrids are definitely what I'm going to look at.

Here in snowy Canada, I'd choose the Cross Hybrid over the Rav4 Hybrid (until they redesign the Rav4). The cable is no longer exposed to the elements in the Cross, as it is located in the spare tire space. Toyota extended the hybrid cable warranty up to 8 years for the Rav4, but cablegate might still affect resale value if you keep your car for a long time. And if you keep it for over 8 years and the cable corrodes, you'd pay thousands to replace it. Also, as read on the Rav4 forums, even if Toyota agrees to replace the cable under warranty, they sometimes don't have the replacement and you end up driving a loaner for weeks. However....if you are in sunny California, Rav4 Hybrid may be a better value.

I think that in this day/age where we have to WAIT (with no clear definition of time) for our cars, I would use that extra time to save up for a RAV4 hybrid XLE + pkg. Not to knock the Corolla Cross, but my standpoint is coming from someone who has bought a compact vehicle and then realizing (within the 5 years of financing) that life happens; Got married, and had a kid. I ended up trading in my vehicle for a RAV4 at a loss (which we all lose at the dealership). Once again, not knocking the Corolla Cross... just a different stance on one vs the other.

I came sooooo close to waiting for this vehicle. However, it came down to waiting for a Corolla Cross Hybrid or choosing between a Mazda CX-30, CX-50 or Subaru Crosstrek. In February, I opted for the Mazda CX-30 -- and I'm totally happy with my choice. Still, this was something that was appealing -- apart from its very generic looks. I just don't like the Toyota infotainment system (important to me) and that people say that it is a bit louder than the Mazda.
