I just got a DJI Action. lol. So far no complaints. That was a fun battle with that fish by the tree, the 3 pounder. Losing fish on gear failure is the worst.
Let me know what you think, I got mine a while ago. It didn’t lock up due to heat but I had other issues with it not recording when it was supposed to.
Did you make your spinning rod and reel combo purchase yet?? If not, for around $200 check out the BassPro Johnny Morris Platinum 3000 ($99) and the Ugly Stick Carbon Fire 7'3" Medium ($90). I have two of these combo's and they've been awesome! Finessy enough for small baits and 1-2 pound fish but stout enough to handle 6-8lb class fish as well. I use 10' braid to 7# flouro at Folsom and upsize to 10# on the Delta or Clearlake. Good luck!
Thanks for the heads up bro, I did buy new reels already. I ended up with 2 new Daiwa Procyon’s and a Daiwa Regal along with a new Phenix Feather spinning rod. Ive used them once already and really like them. The Procyons were originally 170$ but I got them for 120$ on a Memorial Day sale.
@@TonyMadrigal-yn3hd oh man I feel for ya, Saturdays suuuck out there. I’m going tomorrow and its gonna be crowded too. Not nearly as bad as Saturdays though. Tight lines!!!
I have been on the same bite as you catching well over 20 bass each time out with most being about a pound. I have been able to get a few bigger ones on wacky shot 5” senkos though.
Man that’s awesome to hear, i’ve been trying the wacky shot and still haven’t caught one with it. Just a matter of time though. I got a 5-6lb’er last Friday but it was a damn catfish hahahaha. Thats what I get for going to the South Fork lmao.
I also got a 9lb cat in the South Fork last year too on a drop shot. Those dang cats keep gettin me excited thinking I’ve hooked into my PB and then disappointment…hahahaha.
Another great video, and I sure look forward to them. A few things to comment on. First they do make the jaw dropper with a heavier gauge hook now. I would really like to see you throw atleast 3 or 4 different things at each spot, dude you need a ned jig it's 2 baits in one. HIT THE BOTTOM everywhere you fish. Also keep in mind that a bunch of guys are going right where you are showing where to catch them. For your own sake you gotta mix it up. I'm just happy that you don't fish many of my spots LOL
Thanks for the input man, appreciate it. I normally throw more than 3 baits at most of my spots, I just don’t catch much on anything else right now. Ive been throwing top water at every spot, especially in the shade till about noon, im throwin flukes and senkos like crazy but haven’t been getting anything on them. Been gettin lots of hits on flukes but haven’t been able to hook any, I did find a new way to rig them which ill be throwin this Friday. This video I got 1 on top water, 1 on a crank but threw each of those baits for a good 30 minutes each…if I show all the baits I use not catching fish the videos would be over 45 minutes long and i kinda felt like thats to long. This last Friday I went up South and I hate the South lmao. I tried some spots on main body too and didn’t get much. I did get about a 5-6lb cat though lmfao. In this video I bet I hit 15 spots but only 3 spots had fish on them. For a good month or 2 they’ve been glued at these same spots. This Friday i’ll go Main body/North but try all new areas. Its hard to do when ive been pullin 3’s and 4’s outta them. Lmao. I got a tip from someone who’s been getting 3s and 4s off the main body so i’ll give that a shot this week. Thanks again for the input!!!
And also, where’s your spots so I can go there! Hahahaha. Yah know, I’ve actually had some people I respect ask me not to show a few spots so I’ve left out some pretty good areas that I’ve been shown but still fish. Maybe i’ll leave the swimbait off this week and show more of everything else I throw.
No dude that swim bait is your #1 you gotta stay with it. I'm like you I can't pass a tree or bush without fishing it LOL, even when I know the bigger ones are just a little deeper. They are all over that lake right now, I'm surprised you're not going into Browns or the tight side of dyke 8 or the left side for that matter LOL. You do us a great service with your weekly reports and I can't tell you how many times you've had the exact same things tied on that I was just using. You get me screaming " no don't tell them" at the tv LOL.
Seriously dude, that can be a tough lake to fish and I'm sure you're helping people catch them that might not. Keep up the good work. I forward your videos to everyone I know that fishes out there.
Man, I swear I see a tree and all I can think about is 5 pound largies sitting in them. Like a moth to a flame lmao. I could spend 2 days just on the trees on the Peninsula. I just went to the right side of Browns last Friday and around Dyke 8 area…only got 1 dink over there, went up south a lil bit by the water pumps and got a couple more, than up to the 5 mph buoys after the old salmon falls bridge and got a couple more including a 5-6lb cat. Thought I had my Folsom PB on with that damn catffish. Second time those catfish fooled me, last one was 9lbs lmao. Folsom and I have a love-hate relationship as does everyone but that North Fork is soo my style of fishing. Thanks again for all the info, tips etc…if you see me out there definitely stop by.
One GoPro tip is if you're using external power for the GoPro take out the GoPro battery and it will help with overheating. I got on some good schooling fish earlier this week (3-5 pound fish) on the small swimbait than fished the Wednesday night tournament and the wind direction totally changed to the south muddied up the water and the school was gone where I caught them earlier in the week. Ended up catching a small 5 1/2 pound bag for the 3 fish limit and had a big one bend out the hook on the Jaw Dropper. (YOU WERE RIGHT BRO!!) I didn't even weigh in after that I was so pissed. Took almost 9 pounds to win.Thats Folsom for ya.... Fish on buddy!!
No EFFN WAY!!! When that happened to me I seriously got sick to my stomach and went home like 30 minutes later lmfao. I dont get many over the 5lb range out there and I had her at the boat and saw she was over 5…Im just trying to be a little conservative on the weight. I know she wasnt over 7lbs though. I went to an external battery and removed the internal battery due to overheating last year. Just recently mine has been locking up and I think it’s still getting too hot. Dang I forgot about the Wednesday nighters out there. I may have to look into doing a couple. Thanks again for the view/comment.
@@proambass8027 yeah dude I was pissed! I wasn't even horsing her in either, it was at least a 5 pounder too right by the boat with 20 minutes to weigh in. I was even thumbing my spool to make sure I was taking it easy and it still bent out. It was unreal! I kept the bait and want to send it to 1st Gen to tell them their hooks are trash. I love the action but I'm not using them anymore. Back to the Owner heads and might try a scrounger too. Sorry to hear about your GoPro they really are pieces of crap. I'm really surprised no one has been able to make a super good action camera that doesn't have all these problems. Hopefully we'll see you out there at a Wednesday nighter . Everyone meets 5pm at the peninsula on the water.
@@SeeLifeBro That sucks, I didn’t feel like I was horsing mine in either. Went back and watched the video and I think I fought her well, the hook just bent out. Sucks yours was in a tourney though. So this definitely ends my use with the Jaw Dropper, what good is throwing them if theres a better than normal chance of the hook bending out if you get anything decent. Ive got some scoundrel heads too, i’ll give those a shot. I don’t know what to do about the camera situation, I’ve had the GoPro 7, 10 & 11 and all of them have locked up on me. I’m just gonna have to deal with it I guess. I did see a reflective case that was supposed to keep it cooler instead of it being black and absorbing the heat. Maybe i’ll look into that. Good luck out there!!!
@@proambass8027 that is exactly what my hook looked like too. I was surprised the point on the hook was completely gone just like yours too. They obviously are some cheap Chinese shit hook. We'll get em next time dude.
I think the issue you had with the spinning reel is due to the line not being seated in the line guide. It can happen especially if you set before you start to reel…like when getting hit on the fall. No good fix other than maybe palming the bail or cranking a turn or two before you set. Anyway, love all the Folsom content👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Thanks man, I had that in mind too but it has only happened to me twice in the last couple years and both times were on bigger fish in the last 3 weeks. When I got home I was flipping the bail on both reels and 1 is noticeably weaker than the other. My guess was that a spring holds the bail down and its just gotten weaker over the years of use. Thanks for the view/comment…I appreciate it.
Yeah, now that you mention it could be worn out. I had an old shimano quickfire…like from 1980s old…and it stopped closing all the way so it would stay hinged open a few degrees and I would have a similar issue with the line flipping the bail open.
