      I think it's more than a theory, and a brilliant play on words to use the term in both ways (Kane being the conventional spy). A scouting group comprised of members from each of the formerly-splintered, now-united tribes moving ahead of the rest to survey the land they intend to settle? That's a pretty direct allegory.

    If I remember right, only someone like the Armorer using a special forge could create pure beskar armor, like what Din wears. But if you mixed beskar with other materials it became easier to forge with more available technology. This was why ancestral Mandalorian armor was so important, it was made of purer beskar and so was more durable and resistive. Newer armor was made with smaller amounts of beskar (because it wasn't as available) and so wasn't as protective, or no beskar at all. This is why you get some Mandalorians getting taken out by blaster fire from pistols and small rifles, while others (like Paz Vizla) who could take direct shots from heavier weaponry and survive. The Imperial 'Mandalorians' had beskar in their armor but not pure beskar. I still think that this season was more about Grogu being put into situations to force him to grow and become more proactive in the story and to wrap up storylines in preparation for the other new Star Wars series. I hope that in the end of the series it shows that every episode had a purpose.

    • @davidrobertson2204
      @davidrobertson2204 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly. The purity level/ratio of beskar in armor is key. This is why in the s2 finale, while Din's blaster shots were useless versus the Dark Troopers armor, Luke's lightsaber cut through them easily proving that they werent pure beskar. In contrast, when Gideon and Din were fighting in the hallway the Darksaber was repeatedly blocked by the pure beskar spear....although sustained contact showed it start to heat up and glow meaning that with continued constant contact even pure beskar would eventually melt versus a lightsaber.

      @@lucas.2.3.9.4 Well now you come to mention it, I can't actually be surely that they are, probably not for earlier version of them in Star Wars lore but the events of the s2 and s3 finales strongly imply that Gideon would have used the beskar from Mandalor for his s2 Dark Troopers tho likely only with enough purity to be impervious to blasters. His fear on the cruiser when he saw a Jedi had boarded I feel means he never expected them to have to face lightsaber blades and perhaps he wanted them to be vulnerable to his Darksaber if they were ever used against him.

    There were rumours Grogu was supposed to return during Season 3, so it makes sense that the earlier episodes didn't have a lot of character progression for Din and especially Grogu. It was the Bo-Katan show for a while, where it could have been Bo-Katan doing that same stuff while Din wrestles with losing Grogu, Luke is training Grogu, and then it could culminate with them reuniting for the big finale, where episode 7 and 8 would be essentially unchanged

    Someone has already cracked "The Spies" code and linked it to the religious themes of the series as the ep was that of Moses sending scouts into the promised Land. So, every Mando that went and encountered the giant problem of imperials in beskar were all spies (- ^ )

    So you figured out who the Spies were? Well, they were The Armorer, Paz Viszla, Bo Katan, Ax Woves, Kaska Reeves, Din Djarin, Grogu, and five other unnamed Mandos. Figured it out yet? No? Well, what's another word for Spies? Scouts. In Base building games where you can attack other bases for resources, one of the options they usually give you is the ability to Scout, or Spy on other bases before you attack them with your armed forces. Getting it yet? The Mando scouting party to Mandalore before the rest of the Mandos arrived WERE the Spies. We were all just confused by the use of the word Spies rather than Scouts. But think about it...because there was an Imperial spy exposed in the very first scene, it would have been odd to call the episode The Scouts. But Spies fits because it can refer to a double crosser, and it can also refer to a scout.
    The number twelve, 7 + 5, is also significant because it also refers to the Biblical even when Moses sent 12 Spies to scout Csnaan for areas that the Jews could settle.

    I read this theory about the title of last episode: "The spies" from episode 7 was a biblical reference to Moses' 12 spies (one from each tribe) who were sent ahead to scout the promised land and make sure it was suitable for them. Including Bo, there were 12 Mandalorians who went down ahead to scout Mandalore...
    I mean, it makes sense after this episode, and NO spies revealed 🤣🤣

  • @drzhraje

  • @ianthompson3346
    @ianthompson3346 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    So i saw a theory on a different channel that explains that "the spies" means the party that went out to check out the planet while the others stayed with the star destroyer. So like the spies aka the scouting crew because in the Bible Moses sent out the 12 spies and there are 12 Mados that go out with Bo Katan as well. So yh thats most likely the real meaning i feel as well.

    • @Keanine
      @Keanine ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think there were a lot of filler scenes in earlier episodes, but there were no filler episodes if that makes sense. For example the Jack Black episode has an important moment for Bo Katan, but the main plot of that episode is basically filler. For someone whose usually smart on religion you totally missed the meaning of last week's title. The Spies was essentially referring to from what I understand, the 12 spies of Moses, who came from different tribes and were sent out to find a land for their people to live in. Kinda similar concept used for last week's episode with the different Mando tribes coming together to investigate their previous "holy" land.

    that's so cool to hear that you are trying to produce content before the pregnancy. Does that also mean you'll be able to watch the remaining episodes of andor before you aren't able to do more?

    18:46 I wonder how does Din Djarin’s master flashbacks are gonna be like, if they even do some of them. I also can’t wait to see how they cast a younger Din Djarin

    As many have said, Spies could have been used in a more biblical sense of the mandalorians scouting out their homeland, like the 12 spies. Kind of a deep meaning for someone writing the show to pull, but who knows. The mandalorians are very religious.

    They are the same guys from Episode 8, but I believe these are very early iterations. The ones guarding Snoke were supposedly supposed to be the best of the best! This version of them here is like right after the royal guard are gone and the praetorians are just formed :)

    I have decided that Mandalorian martial arts should be called, "Rocket Fu". And I am totally here for it.

    The Mandalorian is the most Baptist show on right now. Sacrifice. Forgiveness. Baptism. Community. Adoption. Family. Redemption. Restoration

    I think Grogu is THE Mandalorian and you hit the nail on the head being a Jedi Mando. I think in the future he will be a huge part in uniting all our allies in something massive. Even in small ways, like when Lizzo makes him a knight.

    It is very hard to compare s2 and s3. S2 was a masterpiece imo.
    I knew s3 would be less good and with all the rumours regarding bobf and mando internal thing.
    I wonder if the job mando took with the new republic will be storylines intended for rangers of the new republic? Will be interesting.
    Great reaction as always. Can't wait for more!

    Not surprising that it was possible for Moff Gideon to give his clones the ability to wield the force, since that's exactly what Snoke was.

    Great announcements! You both are awesome. 👌😊
    With the Moff Gideon clones, my first thought was that he becomes the Ba'al (Stargate) of Star Wars, just clones everywhere and you never know if you captured or killed the real one!
    I am glad the "spies" thing wasn't true, feels way better this way. Cool finale! Ahsoka and S4 will be fun.

    There are clues that the Armorer was part of called the Death Watch. They were a group of Mandos that followed Darth Maul. So there is some reasons to question her motives.

    The dark sabre is broken and the mythosaur is still out there--setting it up for Grogu for eventually owning both. This is still early in the Din Grogu story not late in the Din Jarin story.

    I don't understand why people think this season is al over the place, it's quite clear that they are bringing together the Mandalorians for their return to Mandalore and reinstating their culture there. In that sense this season is actually the most focused of the three.

    The Spie's is a biblical term (like a lot of the title in this season). Moses sent 12 scouts (spies original meanning) of each tribes ahead to the promise land to make sure it is safe to go. In this episode Bo (Moses figure) go to Mandalore with 12 Mandalorian to scout ahead for her people. That's all :)

    Holden and Jen you have to remember that it was the Hilt of the Dark Saber destroyed so there might be a chance that there is a big enough piece of Kyber crystal of the Dark Saber that can be made into a Din Grogu sized light Saber where Din Grogu can complete his steps into becoming the next legendary Mandalorian Jedi and Mandalorian History keeper and Teacher to centuries of Mandalorian Foundlings 🤔

    Even tho grogu hasn't had much of a point in s3 I like the effect of him being around. He has been through a lot of combat this season and we can see him growing in skill and also in mandos confidence in his abilities. We wouldn't have seen that progression if he wasn't there
