Aside from the usual suspects who you expect to dislike it, I feel like a majority of the fan base is actually excited about this show. It’s really got the soul of Star Wars and George Lucas in it, and a lot of the discussion is about things in the show and what’s to come, rather than what’s wrong with it, which is making me very happy! So happy we’re getting some great Star Wars again.

    • @TheBongReyes

That’s the thing. The majority has no real issues with Ahsoka series so far. It’s the loud minority that continues to be extremely toxic rants. More fans need to share their positivity.
To me, Ahsoka has experienced the brutal consequences of life, war, betrayal and death. She lost her faith in the Jedi Council, lost her Master/best friend, the betrayal of the clones, fought the Empire, faced Inquisitors and Vader, etc. That life leaves scars but the fact Ahsoka continues on is a testament to her character.
Sabine isn’t a teenager anymore but still Mandalorian. That pretty much explains why the way she acts.

I’m enjoying the show very much! This is the first Star Wars show that is giving me all of the classic Star Wars elements in one place. Compared to other Disney+ shows (Star Wars or Marvel) this is the first time I feel satisfied with the episodes instead of just watching and waiting for a payoff at the very end of the season. It feels like I’m watching episodes of a tv series instead of watching parts of a longer movie. It’s ironic I say that because I feel like this has been more cinematic overall.

Literally, everyone she’s ever known as either died and/or betrayed her, so it makes sense for her to act the way she’s been acting. She gave everything to the Jedi, Anakin and the clones. Each of them tried to kill her in the end and the only one who told her the truth was her enemy, Maul.

    • @JessAnderson1988
      @JessAnderson1988 ปีที่แล้ว +4

Pretty spot on. The only person in her life still alive that she was close to in her childhood is Rex. All of her other friends and people she considered family from that time are dead. Add that on to the fact that she has spent most of her life fighting wars in some form or another, and a large chunk of her life has been spent alone and in hiding. It's completely reasonable for a person who has experienced these things to be distant and even a little jaded.

There is a theory floating around that Marrok is Starkiller from the Star Wars video game. He was Vader's apprentice. The voice actor for Starkiller is Sam Witwer, who is in the credits of Ahsoka as "additional voices". What character is he voicing? Dave Filoni mentioned wanting one day to bring Starkiller into live action, maybe as an inquisitor, which a lot of people think this character is. Also, Starkiller's name in the game is Marek. The spelling is different but close enough. They'd have to tone his powers down A LOT in the show because he was just under Palpatine level power in the game. In the game he force stopped/crashes a star destroyer. If that is him than he obviously was toned down because he would have made short work of Ahsoka when they briefly fought. It would be really cool to see Ahsoka, Anakin's apprentice, fight Marrok, Vader's apprentice!

As little as I like this series, I'll come to its defense for the lightsaber stabbing. Yes, Sabine doesn't instantly die, but the next time we see her (in S1E2), she's in the medbay (which was only a few minutes' flight away for Ahsoka, and where she presumably got bacta) and clearly still limited and in pain. And it takes half of S1E2 for her to recover fully. Compare that to _Obi-Wan Kenobi_ , wherein not only does the Grand Inquisitor survive a stab right through the middle, but Reva traveled across the galaxy with a stab wound and chased Luke Skywalker across the desert with an expression best characterized as "boy, this is mildly inconvenient", and _Ahsoka_ comes across as a refreshing return to sanity.

My memory (and I may be wrong) is that Maul impaled Qui-Gon dead centre in the sternum or just below. That's gonna destroy the spine and either the heart or the aorta or both. That's certain death unless it happens in an actual operating theatre, and even then your chances are low.
But lower right quadrant of the torso with a self-cauterising blade? With advanced medical attention before any bowel matter infection takes hold, a young and healthy person probably has quite a good chance of survival.
And speaking of "young and healthy," Qui-Gon was 60 when Maul impaled him, and that came at the end of probably the longest and hardest fight he'd fought in at least a decade. In those circumstances, a fatal heart attack from the shock is not at all unlikely, even if his heart and/or aorta hadn't just been destroyed.

The theory behind marrok is that it is a nerfed version of starkiller from the force unleashed. If that's who it is that would make it Vaders apprentice vs anakins apprentice. Sam witwer was the voice of maul in clone wars and rebels and he played the mocap and voice for starkiller so that is the most logical theory so far. Plus Dave wanted to make starkiller an inquisitor in rebels.

    Hey, Holden and Jen!
The episode was way too short but an awesome entry!
MON MOTHMA appearance by GENEVIEVE O'REILLY as the Chancellor of the New Republic now. Her homeworld, CHANDRILA, is now the galactic capital.
SENATOR XIONO, played by Nelson Lee, is the father of Kaz Xiono, the protagonist of the animated "Star Wars: Resistance". The Senator dies when the Ilum-converted Starkiller Base destroys Hosnian Prime in "Force Awakens".
JACEN SYNDULLA, played by EVAN WHITTEN, shows up with the ridiculous green hair we saw in the cartoon. SMH. Kid's cute, though.
    MARROK speaks!
Love the Ahsoka spacewalk! No Mary Poppins nonsense! I like how her helmet is custom-made for Togruta montrals and lekku. Reminiscent of Plo Koon fighting in vacuum without a suit in the 'Malevolence' trilogy and other space-suited firefights in "Clone Wars" and "Rebels".
    Live-action PURRGILL!
DAVID TENNANT killed it with the wisecracks!
The term for blind sparring was ZATOCHI. This is Filoni's tribute to ZATOICHI, THE BLIND SWORDSMAN who is a popular character of Japanese cinema.
In LEGENDS, Jacen was the name of Han Solo's son. He had a sister named Jaina. Of course, in Disney canon we have Ben Solo.
The original "Heir to the Empire" story by Timothy Zahn, there was a Bothan leader named BORSK FEY'LA. Bothans are mammalian aliens that look like shaggy horse-heads. He served the function of Senator Xiono in that he underplayed all threatening signs out of resentment towards Jedi, the military and humans. He doesn't believe in the danger of Thrawn or the existence of the extra-galactic Yuuzhan Vong prior to their invasion later.
I don't mind if Sabine's senses get sharpened through her training to Daredevil-level but her Force-sensitivity is negligible so I don't want her to suddenly exhibit telekinesis! I think Ahsoka's expectations are unrealistic and she's basically forcing Sabine to beat her head bloody against a wall. She shouldn't be encouraging her to move objects with her mind but to heighten her sensory acuity. Ahsoka should focus on Jacen instead. Huyang's right!

Sabine was stabbed in the lower right lung, all of her internal organs and intestine were missed. Qui Gon was hit in the center of the abdomen, which would have immediately released toxins through his body, from mostly his large and small intestines. He could have been saved with rapid surgery, but he just wasn't.

    Ahsoka:
I am okay with her being very calm and stoic in fight scenes and space battles, but I was kind of expecting a little more warmth from her. Maybe not with Sabine, to show that there were past arguments between them, but the main thing I remember of Ahsoka was her kindness. Out of all the Jedi shown in Order 66 scenes, she's the only one to refuse to kill clones, even in self-defense. She was better than the Jedi Order she left.
I was hoping for a more Uncle Iroh style of teaching from her. Worn hands, warm heart. You don't have to be more callous as you get older. In my experience, your kindness grows deeper. Decades of living kindly makes a difference.

These may be trivial facts that people know already but Mary Elizabeth Winstead who plays Hera Syndulla is married to Ewan McGregor who plays Obi-Wan (nice that they kept it in the family onscreen and off). Also I don't think it's unusual for Marrok the inquisitor to wear a mask, there was an inquisitor in Rebels season 2 "Twilight of the Apprentice" who wore a similar or maybe even identical mask to Marrok's. His double lightsaber was even able to be used as a flying device when the blades rotated like a helicopter.

Qui-Gon didn't die because he took a stab to his torso *at all*, he died because Darth Maul knew exactly where to deliver a killing blow. Sabine didn't take that kind of shot.

Come on Filoni, you're the first one who wants this 😁 About Sabine, I'm a bit worried: I wouldn't want her to lose her Mandalorian roots to embark in this Jedi thing, she was a well realized character already to me, it's ok to have a new challenge but not if this means rejecting the old path. Hope they come to make a good hybrid at last, hopefully not finding out abruptly that she's a Force Master.

  • @72Guyman

What I am loving is this new discussion about force sensitivity and what it takes to become a force wielder:
Why can't anyone wield the Force? I know Star Wars has the whole midichlorian nonsense but I feel like they are backing away from that. They mention over and over that Sabine isn't good enough by the Jedi standards, but maybe the Jedi were wrong (Ahsoka has her problems with the order as we know). If the Force is a bit like Buddhism as Lucas mostly based it on, then couldn't anyone with enough commitment and patience and willpower achieve enlightenment? Fans put way too much stock in lineage for Force wielders, that's how we got in that Rey's parents mess. I'm loving the idea that while talent is a factor in becoming a force wielder (or a natural bender like Aang and Azula), someone who tries hard enough can also achieve greatness (Katara and Zuko).

I believe they are more going Arthurian (society attempting to blend new Euro Christian with old "Pegan/Norse")
The New Republic are the Knights of the Round Table. But late in their more opulent phase, with conflict brewing between greedy factions and less emphasis on the leadership that created their success.
Mothma is King Arthur representing "good" Christianity
Ashoka is Merlin the representative of "good" Pegan force
Morgan Elsbeth is Morgana representing the "bad" Pegan force. She was originally accepted by the royal elite even though she had peasant background, and through her powers rose to a high position, but secretly is under the control of a master who wants to destroy Camelot (Thrawn).
Baylan is the Pegan Wolf that favors the light (sun)
Shin is the Pegan Wolf that favors the dark (moon)
Marrok is the former young knight turned into a wolf by Morgan to do her bidding.
In the end both sides (Mothma/Ashoka, Morgan/Thrawn) lose due to their lack of cooperation and corruption. A new dominant "bad" Christian group invades and takes over everything with superior military might and willingness to oppress ALL citizens for the benefit of the elite. The First Order forms the new Galaxy and the others fall to legend.
Eventually the oppressive "bad" Christian Empire falls to citizen revolt, freedom and democracy - The Sequel Trilogy (if we look at the main story arc and forget about the terribly written details.)

  • @gabrielgonzalezmeneses5050

Few things to mention. Ahsoka is loaded with many references to the "Thrawn" trilogy - a series of novels set after "Return of the Jedi" that shaped fans' imaginations for many years. One of the references is the still prevailing theory that Dark Jedi Baylan Skoll's padawan Shin Hati is a female version to Luuke Skywalker, an evil clone of Luke Skywalker
PS: Luuke was cloned from Luke Skywalker's severed hand, lost in the Battle of Cloud City when Darth Vader chopped off Luke's hand and trained in the ways of the Force by Joruus C'baoth, a rogue dark jedi, with the lightsaber Luke Skywalker lost that day.
Another "should be" important reference from the Thrawn trilogy novels is Mara Jade Skywalker, wife of Luke Skywalker. This would be the perfect time to canonize her and bring something [her children with Luke] that could cause drama to Rey in her new movie. Really hoping for Disney's Star Wars storyline to solve this Mara Jade conundrum.

Since you brought up the old Hyperspace rings from the Clone Wars ill give you a really cool fun fact about them. They were actually more insidious in their design. The rings were outfitted with a feature to self destruct so enemies couldn't take it and reverse engineer it, or so the jedi thought. But it was actually for when Order 66 happened. Since the Jedi starfighters of the time had no hyperdrive engines they had to utilize the rings to get from system to system in their fighters. But when Order 66 happens they destroy them leaving the Jedi stranded in that system making them much easier to track and hunt down. It was all by design from Palpatine.
