  • Is the Quest 3 much Better than PSVR2 for Sim Racing? In this video I will be discussing the Quest 3, Quest 2 and PSVR2 for use with Sim Racing. Is one better then the other? With the Quest 3 just coming out, is it worth selling your Quest 2 for, or if you play GT7 on PSVR2, should you make the jump to PC for the Quest 3 and iRacing, Automobilista 2, Assetto Corsa or other PC racing Sims. We'll talh about all that stuff and more.

    What I regret about PSVR2 is that there are currently no more racing games, other than GT 7. Fortunately, it is my favorite racing game.

      100% this. It's nuts that no more racing games and sims are on the horizon for the PSVR2 at all. Racing, flying and FPS games are the _perfect_ games for VR. The PSVR2 lacks in all departments so far.
      GT7 makes the PSVR2 worth it, but only for those who love GT7 of course. Same with No Man's Sky.. If you're a human who plays NMS constantly, the PSVR2 is 100% worth the cost.

    I have a PS5 and love my VR2. BUT ... gotta say I am tempted by the Quest 3.
    I have a 3060 card in my PC, but unsure of GPU RAM.
    As u mentioned, the fiddling with getting settings right is worth it, but I'm not a geek, and am really wary of investing and then finding my tech/geek skills are not up to getting the most out of my setup.

      😢 The beauty of PSVR2 and GT7 is that it works the first time and every time and runs smooth. Getting Assetto Corsa to look awesome is a hobby in itself, long before you even get behind the wheel! And if you forget to set something up because not all the settings get saved, you're stuck wondering why the PC game looks janky. And ACC is just a muddy mess in VR. Don't know anything about iRacing, but I'm too afraid to burn a hole thru my wallet 😅

      I don't think putting on a Quest 3 from PSVR2 in itself is game-changing, but it does look really good. My two biggest gripes with PSVR2 is the small sweet spot in the headset and the implementation of the OLED screen leading to the dirty screen effect. The Quest 3 gets rid of these two things but even than, it's not enough for me to hang up my PSVR2 and GT7. I enjoy the racing in GT7. Will I play iRacing more now, maybe? I need to see if my settings run stable at all tracks and scenarios. Something you don't need to worry about in GT7 and PSVR2 as every track, no matter how many cars on screen just runs smooth with no hiccups.

      Most VR games made for the Quest will run great on the 3060. The ones that will require heavier GPU and CPU power are ports like Dirt 2.0 (rally car racing) and DCS (air combat game). I think it's mostly game dependent. As far as making use of the Quest 3, if you have wifi6e router, a wireless PCVR experience may win you over. But getting into Quest 3 and PCVR will be up to the games you want to play. Quest exclusives like Lone Echo, Stormlands, Asgard's Wrath will be a little taxing on a 3060 but it will run fine. PCVR Steam exclusives are like Half Life Alyx ine of the most polished VR games out there. It's a mix of aliens, shooting, moving around in creepy places, the vibe is alot like The Last of Us zombie game. For PSVR2, the exclusives are also amazing, like Gran Turismo7, Resident Evil among others, with RE4 VR remake coming later

    What Quest 3/PC-related settings were you running? Was this via link cable? VD? etc. I'm new to the concept of mobile headsets (I still only have my original Vive), but am trying to determine if this would be a step up for sim racing only (response time & clarity). I have a 4090 and 5900X with a wifi 6 (not E). Really trying to get an idea if this purchase would be worth it, or if the latency would ruin the experience even if the visuals look better than my Vive. I know with the Vive's HDMI it's obviously faster response than wireless, but can 45-ish latency (approximating based on things I have seen online) feel good enough to race? Thanks

    • @FatswellSmart
      @FatswellSmart 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      i have a quest 2 and i can say for sim racing, if you go airlink it's perfectly acceptable but there will be compression even with wifi 6. now with a wired connection it can look way better with really minor compression. there will probably be horrendous micro stuttering and hours of troubleshooting to fix them (the fix is a custom os and turning every windows service off possible, get it lower than 100 on boot atleast and rgb and fan controlled in bios only). its not worth it imo wait until the pico 5 max next year, it's like double the resolution of the quest 3 and will have a display port connection for pcvr which solves everything wrong with any meta product.

    I love GT7. But I can't do it for one racing game. If I were rich I would. Now I know you like sims, but some other good ones are Project cars 1, 2. and even 3 looks good now in Quest 3. It would fry my eyes in 20 minutes before. Grid Legends though not perfect looks quiet good now. I could only take 15 minutes in the Quest 2, but I love the game. You forgot to mention the headset haptics with the PSVR2 Headset which makes a huge huge difference in immersion when you crash at high speed in GT7 you actually feel it in your headset things like that make a huge difference I am getting Quest 3 next Friday as it will be my 1st Quest headset I’m getting one for its media functions and as a secondary screen for my computers and the mixed reality games but VR games I will use my PSVR2

Does anyone know if the most recent drivers have changed this? I use VR about 80% sim racing 20% watching videos. I could use my other rig with an nVidia 1080 TI. I also have a Reverb G2 and Quest 3. G2 is lighter and sound is not tinny like the Quest 3. G2 does have a smaller sweet spot, Q3 has way better sweet spot as it is easier to find. Quest 3, with ASUS wifi6e router though has great wireless PCVR with my Nvidia 4090. If I had to make a decision, G2 is still superior in terms of weight, comfort and sound. As far as visuals, Q3 and G2 are the same. In terms of wireless PCVR, Quest 3 is the best option now in market, better than Quest2 latency

    • @Steadymobbin711

    • @meejmuas8686
      @meejmuas8686 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Steadymobbin711 The link cable also has compression, through my testing Virtual Desktop through wifi6e router will deliver the best visuals, even better than the a wired link cable. Iv also had trouble with the link cable asking me to use a usb 3.0 port which I have and it also hates the wire the Quest 3 comes with, forcing you to buy their premium link cable, all the while with less visual quality. Having a good wifi6e router allows you to crank up Virtual Desktop and Meta Airlink to its maximum bitrates and still run great. Meta Airlink has visual artifacts but that mostly goes away if you crank the bitrate to max in the Quest app on your PC

    • @meejmuas8686
      @meejmuas8686 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Steadymobbin711 As far as latency goes, I feel that my wireless experience is just as good as a link cable experience now. I do get the occasional visual blips but that is uncommon and very random, not distracting to me at least. Quest 3 has a wifi6e adapter and having an ASUS wifi6e router compliments it very well. You dont have to kick people off your 6ghz bandwidth either as that is wifi6e's gimmick. I go into the meta browser and type "latency test" to get feedback ony connection and your network adapter will heavily depict latency. My phone is average with wifi6e, while my Samsung Tablet just cant keep up good latency, playable but not better than others. Quest 3 performed better in latency than my Samsung 21+ phone. It was only beat by my wired ethernet computer in terms of latency

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm actually pretty happy with the Quest built in sound. PSVR2 speakers sound horrible in comparison. Also, to use 6ghz wifi, you have to have a 4090 card, right? Not many people will be rocking that. For sim racing, I would always like to be plugged in. For any other VR, wireless 100%.

    You said if you have a ps5 you are not looking at the quest 3, i have to disagree on that! I think both headsets have their own purpose.. what i mean by that is, i had a quest 2 because its really a well rounded vr headset (i do not have a pc but stand-alone was fine) i now have a quest 3 because i wanted better visuals when it comes to watching content and its a standalone headset! So i can use it wherever i want. The psvr2 on the other hand.. is only focused on gaming and nothing else! Sure you can watch movies etc but for most people it will be a gaming device only. So they both serve a purpose. But! After using the quest 3.. i have to say.. i rather have pancake lenses than the oled fresnel (sorry im not native English) it’s good looking! But like you also said, the small sweet spot.. it’s annoying because you move around with the headset and you have to find the spot quite often. For sim racing it’s fine! But the benefits of those pancake lenses weighing heavier for me personally. I think both headsets can live alongside each other! It’s a difficult comparison since one is pure gaming and the other one is more of a well rounded device.

    The downside to the PSVR2 for me is: Where the hell are the games, Sony?? How come we're getting Resident Evils coming out the wahzoo and there's literally _no racing games_ coming out for the PSVR2? What???? How??
    No rally, no F1, nothing. No Test Drive Solar Crown as far as we've heard. No The Crew, nothing.. NOTHING.... How???????????
    When a headset doesn't even get VR support for the games that would be SUPER EASY to implement VR into, I start losing all hope pretty quickly.
    Right now, I'd say that GT7 is worth the price just due to how amazing the online racing is there and how easy it is to get GT7 rolling in VR (literally zero effort), but I'd be cautious about hoping for more than that. It just looks like the PSVR2 won't sell enough headsets to even get the driving game/sim developers interested... That's not a great sign... Some of these games even have VR support on PC, so adding it for PSVR2 would literally just be about lowering texture res and dropping some lighting... Sony can't even convince devs to do that...
    If you play a lot of GT7, if GT7 is your jam, ABSOLUTELY get a PSVR2. No question even. It is by far the most bang you'll get for your buck if you want to upgrade your fun. Even more so than a wheel IMO.
    With you on the modding. I just don't have the patience for that crap anymore. My Quests just run out of battery by the time I'm ready to play cause it just crashes 5 times before it runs right.. PCVR already has enough bugs even without the mods..

    - The Most Tragic and Sad thing about it All...I think the The PSVR2 is The Best VR HMD on the market in its price range, hands down. The Tragedy is that SONY designed this amazing f*cking VR headset as more of a marketing ploy to push console sales. Making this amazing HMD that is full of potential be shackled a console where VR just doesn't thrive. Admittedly, Gran Turismo 7 with the PSVR2 offers an S-Tier VR experience that no Sim title on PC has even came close too. Im talking about the "overall feeling and immersion", not just any specific thing.
    - So what need to happened but I doubt it will....its the SONY needs to allow the PSVR2 to work with PC. they would immediately dominate the VR space because of its price and specs. Most importantly it having something that is one of the most important features for a VR headset to have. that being EYE TRACKING! Which enables the of FOVEATED RENDERING and naturally allows PC users to play title and get more FPS than before and it not Static like OpenXR (still brilliant, BTW). That is the main reason GT7 look so damn good at such high frame-rates.
    - Whos knows though, SONY has been slowly migrating their games to PC and I dont understand why enabling PC Support for their PSVR2 would be a bad business decision at this point.
    - Again, what other HMDs have legit eye tracking for that price, none? I dont think most users truly know how powerful, useful, etc) Eye-tracked Foveated rendering actually is (if they even know at all). It sits up there with DLSS, FSR, Frame Generation, etc) for what it does. good based off everything it has in terms of the tech it has packed into it. I know it wont happen but if sony said "screw it" and released it to the PC consumers, I think it would have immediately dominated the VR market. I want to play GT7 in VR. Ive been sim racing for over a decade on PC with all the bells and whistles, racing titles, 500GB of AC mods, etc) which has been great. Especially when VR entered the picture because Flying and Racing titles were naturally the best medium for VR. I mean, there is nothing easier or more immersive when you use VR with a "game" that places you in a sitting position as a pilot, race car driver, a mech operator, spaceship, etc). That's why I think VR was perfect and a no brainer for Developers of those those titles that incorporated VR for those types of developers. No worries or hastle of needing to redesign your entire game to try and find ways to implement the hand tracking tracking and body movement. That's a complete nightmare on its own.;
