    Thanks for all your good and help full videos. I followed your advice and stayed calm. Not focusing on being faster and faster and not pushing to overtake.
    And here we go, today I earned my first podium and it was a win. Race B.
    I was leading the last 2 laps and I always had your voice in my head. „Stay calm and drive“
    Thanks heaps!!!

    My biggest tip to new drivers in GT7 is "don't drive aggressively." What I have learned is that aggressive drivers tend to make more mistakes, so if you stay behind an aggressive driver and put pressure on them (drive right behind them, stay on their tail), they are more likely to get distracted and make a mistake, thereby giving you an opening to pass.

      I find that for whatever insanity driven reasoning, 75% of the people attempt to win the race In turn 1; lol, there’s 20 laps (using current Race C) and u got 16 cars, top 5-7 are usually decent people and just trying to get away from the hammers, idk how so many get away with this aggressive style, if I accidentally tap somebody going into a turn, I get a three second penalty for running in lost track and it was unintentional. So now I fall back let everybody do their thing for the first lab or two and then I hammer down strategy is applied. I’ve been doing a lot better. My rating and my sportsmanship have gone up and so has myposition

      Indeed, use racecraft. People try to force things in lap 1 or even turn one. Its more in the lower tier lobbies. Up to B there is lack of car control + speed. B are mostly faster drivers but over aggressive. A class have more control. And A+ is just top tier. The car positioning on A+ drivers and control is amazing. I have my best racing now in A+ because you can trust the other drivers aswell

    This is good advice. Exercising patience, driving to your ability, being consistent and making sensible decisions with the intent of understanding the limits of your car, yourself and that of the people you race with are all important factors in having a good, enjoyable and rewarding race. The other aspect is learning race craft within the parameters of the game. irrespective of whether you have good or bad drivers around you; watch their habits, braking and use your rear view to avoid dive bombers. I can't tell you how many disasters I've avoided by doing this. Fairly aggressive drivers often take each other out, so use your nogging when racing. Equally, starting at the back of a grid is also a benefit to pick up places, again exercising patience and sensibility will help you move up the grid.

    Some really great tips for newbies.... 👍
    I would also add that it's important to know the car, know the track, and know your own limits, but racecraft comes when you add other drivers.... now you gotta know what the other guy can/may/will do and when yo take your advantage! 😊

    a good way to start out a new account for an inexperienced player (who can't just quali first and drive off in the distance to win) is just start at the back, finish at the back (obsiously drive past half the grid that will drive off the track) don't touch anyone, don't drive off track and get penalties - for like 10 races, and increase your SR. it goes up fast, and once SR is at like A/S you can play normally and it should be a lot cleaner if anything. and do minimum dialy B, preferably daily C

    I had exactly this at Trial Mountain yesterday, started p10, mayhem in front with 4 or 5 drivers bashing each other all over the place. I knew I’d move up if I just stayed back and waited. Sure enough they all kill each other and I finish p4, not setting any records but a decent bump to DR, and clean race bonus too.
    You also don’t always have to overtake - won my first race with new wheel and pedals this week, just by following really close for all four laps. No contact but the pressure builds and they went off four turns from the end.

    I get what you are saying, but I don't agree, to be honest. You are correct IF there are no dirty or aggressive drivers. Those other drivers in this video were all slower in pace than you, or less competent.
    For most of us, starting mid-grid or even at the pointy end, after spending a lot of time to get a good quali time, means getting punted by aggressive drivers on T1 or first lap. Starting from the back eliminates this pressure, and a faster driver like yourself can afford to be patient. I've lost count of the number of times I've been up front - pole, or P2, even - and despite taking the inside just been rammed off. No amount of strategy or defensive driving can allow for this.
    The majority of videos I watch from other YTubers - even A+ rated - has shown this behaviour to be the norm. I'd prefer to see a video of how to start mid-field and deal with the commonplace dirty or aggressive behaviour, none of which I witnessed here.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      This video advice is meant to help lower rated drivers because you are correct. These drivers are less competent. That's the whole point. Be patient, be competent, and you can do well in lower lobbies. It's not just a GT7 thing. You see it in iRacing as well. Always blame it on other drivers and never yourself for not doing well. You just need to know your competition and be willing to change your strategy based on that.
      For higher lobbies, like high B and A. Everyone just wants to win. No one's willing to give up places, and if they are not dive bombing to overtake you, everyone is playing defensive and think they need to block everyone, everywhere. Sometimes, you just need to be willing to get out of the way and let other drivers through.

      You hit the nail on the head. If you start in the middle, you have two choices: fight at the first turn and lose, or let them all fight, and lose anyway. Yes, you can pass them, but they always catch up. Because I'm being careful not to hit anyone, not to get any track limit penalties, etc. Once the race settles, I can just go for my best time, and I'll be 5, 6, 7 seconds behind the next guys. And I cannot catch them, even if they have 2 second penalties, I can get in front, sometimes, and then they pass me again. And I try to avoid them because they are wild. So starting in the middle = finishing LAST, every time. Last week it was like this and it started again this week with Spa. The kicker of it is, even if you gain a spot or two before the end, you don't improve your rating. I am dead bottom of D, and A+ on Sportsmanship. I cannot go lower. If they could put me back in E, they would. You can't move up in rating unless you gain some spots AND finish P8 or better. This is not doable at this rate.

    Great video! One of the first things you mentioned, select the car you're comfortable with. This can't be said often enough. Learn this particular car in class, get used to it on every track. Always using the meta doesn't make any difference if you're not an alien. I hang around mid- to high B, and I always see the grids filled with the meta from the leader board. To be honest, I'm not good enough to feel the difference between the meta or the second-meta. Alien drivers go for it because the meta is half a tenth quicker. If I were THAT consistent in any car, I would do the same. Most casual drivers (like me) seem to think using the meta makes them quicker or they think the others are quicker.
    Besides this, I really would like to how many DR points you gain or lose by doing this or that. Moving from 14 up to 3 is in my opinion worth more DR points than moving up from 4 to 3.
    Btw., another tip: in case you're race is going downhill, DO NOT RAGE QUIT!

    Great video for amateur sim racers. Even pro drivers beat themselves from time to time. Its easy to do in the heat of a moment. But as with most things, cooler heads prevail. Keep your lines and inputs smooth, and make smart decisions on track and you're sure to move up the ranks. But also, when you reach your level of competition, dont be too hasty to get better, enjoy the competition, stay smoothe and continue to make good decisions. Improvements will happen naturally if you let them. They may never happen if you try to force them.

    What a great video. It's one that I needed to hear. Yesterday I was racing and a guy was making a clean pass but could not resist side bumping me. Kids! Anyway, I finished the day with a higher SR than I started. This video helped calm me down and impoved my SR!
    Here's a request for a future video, "How to Focus on Your Driving.". What I mean is that I get distracted by all of the other cars, especially if they are spinning in front of me (but too far ahead to affect me), cars that jump around because lag (this drives me crazy), and all the others that pull your attention from where it should be.

    I start in the middle and just to avoid turn 1, I’m now at the back.
    If I start at the back, and avoid the violent drivers, that’s great but I won’t get up far enough to get up out of D lobbies. It’s a vicious circle and it’s too bad because I just wanna have fun. But D isn’t fun. I follow your videos and suggestions religiously and it’s just demoralizing. I wonder if I t’s almost better to drive out of control and spin out occasionally and take a penalty because the extra speed is always worth it. Maybe. I wouldn’t know.

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not sure why you start in the middle to avoid turn 1 and why that means you end up in the back. Even get hit at turn 1, if you can learn to control your car and get back on the track quickly without losing more time you can still get a good finish. Plenty of drivers in a D lobby are going to spin or drive off the track ahead of you. If you are struggling to get out of D, you need to work on improving your driving skills because it's not other drivers fault you can't move up.

      I'm coming from Iracing, and today was actually my first day of playing gt7
      I also drive high 1.17 lap times in the races
      The driving technique in this game is a lot different than what I'm used to
      The cars tend to have more understeer and have a narrow window of slip angle
      Which gave me some scary snap oversteer moments since the shift from understeer to oversteer is at least for me kinda hard to predict
      So far, I like the game, but right now, I'm still in B class, so I don't really have any competition

    I get it man. I am absolutely not blaming anyone else - I wish I could. I'm "good" enough to get an OK qualifying time. So, hit the first turn, I avoid the melees and the warzone. So what happens, I fall back, and despite getting in front of the carnage, all the guys behind me somehow pass me. Then all the crashed cars from turn 1 pass me. WTF! Last week, I started in 8th, 9th or 10th, and ended dead LAST, every single time. I even got a better lap on one of these runs than my Q time. I ran perfectly clean. This week, I " sandbagged". I deliberately qualified a couple seconds slower than I know I could run. So I start at P14 and, and literally on the rolling start, I GET PASSED. How is that even possible? My accelerator is the same as the guy behind me. I finally overtook one guy and improved one place. And now I am hearing that if you don't get better than P8, you won't move up. I will forever be in D at this rate. There is no mathematical way to improve. It's a little frustrating, but I am not upset. If you are faster than the cars in your lobby, you should qualify and grid appropriately and keep moving up in DR until your are no longer at the top and really need to drive your best to compete. I began my Sim Racing hobby with GT sport on the PS4 Pro, And Dirt Rally using the PSVR, Until I went PC, I bought a used i7 PC and put a 1660 super in it, And that then showed me that PC Sim Racing had so much more to offer, So I then plucked up enough learning wisdom and got an i5 12600k CPU, I wish I got an i7 now though purely for VR, I would imagine the i7 would be better for VR for stability than the i5, But I will add the i5 12600k is a flipping bad ass CPU for what the CPU actually costs, I read 12th gen is more stable if someone was to overclock, But these days do people really need to overclock, lol, But the 12th gen is still pretty damn good, I would prefer to use Intel rather than AMD, AMD if I was to make a PC for Music production then I would probably go AMD, But then at the same time Music production would be top using the i5 12600k, Even got the IGPU, lol, But yeah I got an i5 12600k with a Cooler Master 240l ARGB Liquid cooler, Pretty damn good CPU cooler for the price, I made a mistake of getting a H610i MOBO not realizing it only had one M.2 on it, I got 32gb Corsair Ram and a 12gb 3060 GPU, So not high specs but just enough for VR to run, I am still in two minds on getting a 40 series GPU, But the 50 series is coming out at the end of the year, Reported to be 1600 pounds, So will the 40 series of the older stock be sold for a cheaper price, I can see the used section of CPU's will have a new life for a few months with 4090's and 4080's get sold off, I can see the gamers with deep pockets already putting the 1600 pounds ready and waiting for release date, lol, Can you pre order the 50 series GPU's at the moment then....
    Also if GT7 or the GT series was on Steam I would probably be racing in Grand Turismo, Because I do remember now the GT sport was alright in VR, I even bought the GT sport disc in a metal case for the PS4, After jumping on the PC I really do feel like I wasted a lot of money over time, Getting the PSVR as well, With the PS4 I think it did not feel like what I payed for for some reason, Might be me expecting more, Because I bought the used PC with the i7 6700k I think it was, For 300 pounds, And it was liquid cooled, lol, And the 1660 for 150 pounds, Yes granted it was used but damn the second I went on AMS, And titles like rFactor, Race Room I think was the first I downloaded off steam, But now I got like 11 different sim racing titles, I think it might be though because I am chasing ultra realism, Sim Racing for me needs to be 100 percent simulation, Like when you crash, You crash properly, So to speak, I went off the Arcadie style Sim racing I guess, Though GT series still got the race factor, I feel GT series would do far far better if it was available on steam, I would buy it, So yeah people in the GT community should be writing to the dev team asking for GT series to be on Steam, Steam would give the GT series a new lease of life, I have not tried the PSVR 2 to be honest, But going off the PSVR I was disappointed, Because PSVR felt like the phone VR, I gave VR a break because the PSVR was a novelty that wore off fast, Fast forward the the Quest 2 I got, And flipping heck, I won't be going back to my TV even if my TV is 55 inch 4K, It still don't come close to the Quest 2 and AMS 2, I can only imagine what a Pimax Crystal is like, I bet Pimax would drop you a VR headset if you asked lol, I would love to get my hands on a Pimax Crystal headset, But then I want the Big Screen Beyond VR, lol, The PSVR 2 looks a lot better than the PSVR though, And you could probably run the PSVR 2 in Steam using iVRy app or something like that, I was going to try my PSVR on steam with the PC, But after getting the Quest 2, I would get a Quest 3 given the chance, lol....
    But yeah try get GT to put the Sim on Steam, That way people on consoles could Sim race with people using PC's yeah, lol, Probably not, It would be a PC and PC thing, I will say though GT7 do look pretty good in VR, Not knocking it even if it sounds like I do, I began Sim racing on a PS4, Sim Racing helps with CPTSD and the Anxiety and depression, I suffer from, Sim Racing using a steering wheel with FFB for some reason helps stop the pain I can get in my legs from the Anxiety, Rest less legs type feeling that have been so painful I ain't ashamed to say I was in tears, When the achy pain wouldn't go away, But after jumping into Sim racing I don't get the pain in my legs like I used to, I think it might be the hands, Brain and the feet working at the same time, Helps me forget about the anxiety....
    But yeah the GT series should be put on steam, Steam would open the game up for people on a PC, Why wouldn't you if it will bring in extra publicity and profits, lol....
    Oh yeah you Race a bit like me, I always slack back waiting for the dude in front to mistake out, And boom, Pressure can make many people take corners wrong, An example is dive bombing into the first corner of Monza, It won't end up very good, So think of that situation even if you ain't on Monza, Always expect the unexpected, With anything in life, Always expect what is unexpected and you is prepared and ready for what is unexpected, Just some things in life don't allow for that, But in Sim racing always expect the unexpected, I bet if there was Sim Rigs during the days of dueling, Men would sort out problems in the Sim rig, lol....
    Yeah GT series would be great if it was in Steam....
    Oh yeah Xbox is coming out with a Quest 3 VR headset, Xbox is working with Meta or something to bring out an Xbox VR, The PSVR can be improved with driver updates yeah.....
    I can actually see a lot of people using the PSVR 2 though, I just would rather PC power, I find there is more selection making it better for me, And AMS 2 is actually pretty bad ass in VR, Is there any way of testing the PSVR 2 against a Quest PC link set up with similar specs, Be interesting to see the results....
    Either way happy Sim racing bro......

      Supposedly, PSVR2 will get official PC support from Sony. I say, supposedly, because I will believe it when I actually see it. I'd be curious to see how well it performs in iRacing vs. my Quest 3, which is such a great headset.
      I also had an original PSVR headset. PSVR2 is light years better than it, and the quality of GT7 on PSVR2 blows what GT Sport delivered on the original PSVR headset.

    Nice vid, Im a S safety rated driver and I get lobby's sometimes where the other drivers are C an D safety rated. The sort of drivers that think being overtaken is a personal insult then ram you off the track. So this advice is great. I find with drivers like that I just need to get up behind them, then they feel pressure and will make a mistake, run wide or get a slow exit. No point battling. If I get knocked off that is going to loose more time than holding back a little. 14 to 3rd is great, Spa is my favourite track.

    Starting in the back is always easy lol you literally drove by all the carnage , it’s when you start high in quali that the dirty racing affects you , obviously nobody is going to ram you when you start in last place

    • @thecasualracinggamer
      @thecasualracinggamer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Starting mid to high pack in a lower lobby is all about turn 1. Stay inside, slow early, and get out quickly because usually everyone overrunning it will do it towards the outside. Then, after that, don't be in a rush to pass every car you get near immediately because from there, when people wreck or get booted, you can often times have avoided it by just racing differently.
      I wanted to start in the back because if I started up towards the front, it would have been much easier to just pull ahead from everyone. The point of the video was to be patient and wait to make your moves because lower lobbies aren't just dirty drivers, they are inexperienced drivers who will just end up making a lot of mistakes on their own.

    Np if u can make a clean move at the corner entrance but u should have the inside before or just 0.2 or 0.3 behind ur opponent and not try to dive from 0.6 sec behind and say after this dumb move to the guy who were infont. " why u turning in the braking zone " 😂

    Not sure what other drivers have to do with your driver rating lol.. Gran Turismo driver rating is useless. I've ranked in the top 150 fastest drivers In the world for like the last month and im a BS😅 I still get paired with AA+ drivers regularly and win regularly. I just have a job and spend my not so spare time playing other sims as well. I might climb on for 2 or 3 hours once every 3 or 4 weeks. I've spent 20 years racing in the real world and have several championships on asphalt. Point is it doesn't matter if you are a rookie or if you are a professional driver, Gran Turismo isn't going to rate you what you are unless you dedicate a childlike or Chinese amount of time playing the game lol.. I don't have 10 hours a week to play Gran Turismo to get my driver rating up. They need to change the system to qualifications. And if you are on the track full of AA drivers and kicking ass it should accelerate the time it takes you to get to AA. I aint got time for that shit😅 I think it's kinda cool tho seeing BS rated drivers at the top of the finishing orders of AA fields lol. I know I'm not the only one out there. There's not a professional driver on any professional circuit that has the time to get a double A rating in Gran Turismo lol. There's one thing Gran Turismo doesn't have and that's professional drivers because they don't have the time to rank 😅

      If you are in the top 150 on time and can't get to DR A, you must be driving pretty badly. It should not take that long to move up if you are that good. Heck, if I can make an A with my skills and I don't race all week, an actual good driver should not have a problem.
