    Although I do like the default strap that the Quest Pro comes with, you don’t have to change anything on it, that’s the nice feature about it, well besides buying the light blocking facial interface for it, it is a nice looking headset, but obviously the Quest 3 is the headset to have now, for me the worst vr headsets that I have tried are the HP Reverb G2 and the Pimax 8kx, unstable software and blurry screen resolution on both of those headsets

      Well, I didn´t try all four HMDs from your comment, but I use 8kx as the best for me. And meta 3 was so uncomfortable and blurry screen, that I got sick in a first 5 min.
      All I want to say, VR HMDs are not "one size fits all", what is good for me might be the worst for somebody else.

    I currently own a Rift S, Quest 2, Quest 3 and PSVR2. I had a Quest Pro but I returned it. While the screen was technically better on the Pro than the quest 2; I found that I had a lot of difficulty getting a clear view with it. the pro was overall not very comfortable IMO and I really just hated it. The Quest 3 was immediately great for me. the clarity of the screen and the readability of text in any direction I look is just phenomenal. Quest 3 is easily the best of all the VR headsets I've used.

      I would say no, stay on the quest pro if PCVR is all you care about. The only potential benefit is if you could sell the Quest pro for more than the Quest 3, then it would probably be worth it as 120hz is nice, along with slightly improved clarity and FOV (but worse colours/contrast).
      It also depends on what type of headstrap you like. If you like the open design of the quest pro, as in don't use the lightblockers, then Quest pro is better.

    Pimax Crystal is worth the price or it isn't because Quest 3 isn't so much worse? Or the wireless VR and any other advantage is more important just the little bit sharper screeen?

    • @HeadsetHistorian
      @HeadsetHistorian  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very tough question, and really it would come down to your personal preference. For me personally I loved the crystal but it's just too bulky and I don't want to go back to wired. If the wireless solution on the crystal ends up being solid then it will be a real contender, even at the price hike, but that is yet to be seen.

    Great video! I'm having many of the same thoughts as you. I've actually arranged a return for the Quest 3 with Amazon who are collecting tomorrow but I'm still going back and forth. The standalone and mixed reality are better on Quest 3, and you're absolutely correct about those features probably improving a lot over the coming months.
    I was still really disappointed with the MR though. With a next gen chip, a depth sensor and higer resolution passthrough cameras I was really expecting something quite special, but visually, it looks like Quest Pro with a decent software update, still not something I want to use.
    Standalone is better but I really don't use standalone for anything more than exercise so not really a gain there. PCVR I still prefer Quest Pro, although could happily use either.
    Ultimately I elected to return Quest 3 as I find the Pro much more comfortable, at least versus Quest 3 stock strap, and I paid £1500 for it and its painful to replace it with a sub £500 device.
    If I was buying today and had neither, I probably pick Quest 3 though.

      Why is PCVR better on the Pro?
      Are the black levels of pro much better than Quest 3 (after adjusting brightness and contrast on Q3)?
      Also Quest Pro is 200g heavier than Q3 (without elite strap), but I guess with the Elite strap, it's almost the same weight.

      I notice more glare and mura in the Quest 3, and I also have a couple dead pixels so I'm going to return and see if the replacement looks better. Found a good deal for quest pro for $690 in brand new condition, do you think it's worth getting the quest pro over quest 3 for that price, the comfort and open design of the quest pro for better airflow is really attractive and i will use it %90 of the time for PCVR, i will also occasionally play exclusive standalone game's like re4 and assassin's creed, but mainly PCVR, the fact that the lenses get completely fogged up in other HMDs due to lack of airflow is a huge drawback to me especially in summer, i also like that the display has local dimming therefore giving deeper blacks and overall better image quality.
    Quest 3 is also very tempting for the price, not sure which one i should get to be fair.
    I found a very good deal for pico 4 as well, $250 for a brand new one, is it even comparable to quest 3 and quest pro? In terms of display quality, tracking etc..? And are there any solid reasons for one to get the pico 4 over the meta Headset's except for the price?

    • @HeadsetHistorian
      @HeadsetHistorian  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a tough one!
      The pico 4 at that price is really appealing, it is a great headset and the main benefit it has is much better stereo overlap, but I would only consider it as a PCVR headset.
      Quest pro might be worth it if you do social stuff like VR chat and want the face and eye tracking. That said, it's getting harder to recommend as support for it is not going to be stellar going forward and standalone wise it will perform quite a bit worse.
      Personally I would go for the Quest 3 but that's just because of my wants and usecase. You can get setups for it, like the bobobr m3 pro headstrap, to use it like a quest pro so not closed in.

    Ya, if you can only afford one and want to do a mix of standalone VR/MR, plus PCVR, it probably make some sense to just go for the Q3. If you already have a QPro, like I have since it came out +11mo ago, and also want better standalone VR/MR then also buy the Q3, if you can afford to do so. Fortunately, I'm lucky to be able to afford to do this and also I've been lucky to be able to afford a good desktop gaming PC (i913900k/rtx4090) and good router/wifi setup (for good wireless PCVR). For me, the QPro/Q3 combo is the best overall VR experience I've ever had in the +5yrs I've been doing VR. Until Meta comes out with an improved QPro 2 with micro oled's (in 2025?), this combo is going to do me fine.
    Also, every time I hear a TH-camr say how much better Virtual Desktop works compared to Link and Air Link I cringe, and unsubscribe, lol! With the right setup and settings both wireless systems work well, but right now it's pretty hard to beat Link at 650mbps bitrate imho.

      I didn't mention quest 1 a single time? And only briefly mentioned quest 2. Thanks for the feedback though, I'll try to keep future videos more on topic.

      The guy was barely on the 1 for very long lol. There's shit loads of videos reviewing the quest three. Go watch a shorter one if it's a length problem

    I guess you need to check your eyes if you couldn't tell the difference between Quest 3 and Pro screen clarity. The difference is as clear as sky! th-cam.com/video/6gd_kEafeR0/w-d-xo.html

      For standalone, I completely agree but for PCVR I think it's a toss up

    Bobo battery pack, or ANY battery pack is useless with the Quest3. You will be screaming about the battery life and how it can just die with a l,ow battery left.
