You are the boss of your own quilt. Those that complain will always complain. Love it for yourself. You are such and amazing woman, teacher, designer. Love e you so. If you weren’t aware, we have coffee together every morning. 😍😍

I think we need to be reminded that the reason we love to quilt is because of the freedom we have in using our imagination in the making it. It is one place where we have control of colors, piecing etc. So we need to realize that each quilter's quilts are pleasing to there eye and probably not for you nor do they need your negative remarks. Quilting is our joy and we should be kind in our remarks about others quilts. I love your final borders and the process you showed us. That's way I do it too.

This is the first block Wednesday that I have kept up with and sewed right along. I really enjoy how you share your fails with us as well as your ah ha moments. It helps to remind us that not everything is set in stone and it is ok to redo something or just decide it is good enough. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us sewing at home.

I have learned SOOOO much from you through Block Wednesday. My Dad passed away early SUmmer 2016 and I dove into quilting fr a way to mourn and heal... you have continually been a shining light and helped me through a very bad time in my life. I approach the quilts with the idea that I'm learning, trying something new, being creative. Thank you for all you do and please know I'm so thankful for you and all I have learned because of you. I can't wait to get my Summer Camp quilt finished.... in your original layout. :)

Love your border on the Summer Camp quilt along. You do wonderful work. I was not sure about making the bottom of a quilt longer with borders, and not on the side. I am happy that this is “ok in the quilt world!” As a confident beginner one never knows. Your orange and black quilt is going to be very nice. I want to add that Red looks great on you! I think you are a lovely woman, Pat Sloan, even prettier and younger looking than when you were in that picture holding your red and white quilt! And, that red and white quilt was amazing!! I love watching you, of course you are my most favorite quilter ever!

Frankly Pat I didn't see the cut off point. Sometimes there is always that block that is troublesome. Yikes! But I get it, it's going to bug you Change it. I also would not have changed the bat or candy corn. What I would have done is repeat one of those blocks and put them as cornerstones. They are beautiful! Whatever you do it's going to be BEAUTIFUL! Such fun! I'm glad you keep reminding people, it's your quilt. You can do what you want to it. If something isn't working, change it. That's the fun and beauty and challenge of quilting! Happy happy quilting everyone!

Loving summer camp & the sea quilt is beautiful; love the design of midnight moon. Dropped in early this morning...had a mixed day. Morning was good, quilting class at local quilt shop. Afternoon was nerve-wracking... funeral for a 60+ year of a dear friend (we meet in 6th grade). Pat Sloan you calmed my nerves, TY!! Good Lord willing, I'll see you Monday!

I love the layout and the border! How could anyone not like it? Great contrast and balance! I am the kind that would tell myself it is okay and as time would go on it would bug me. Once I would get it in the quilt I would then decide I would have to take it out. When it is the hardest to do! Lol. I am getting better trying to address things sooner. The thing is telling myself I can live with and actually living with it are two completely different things.

Pat I love the change to Summer Camp’s border. Sometimes we find extra fabric and sometimes we don’t! Midnight moon looks great! I dropped off 3 quilts to the long armer on Saturday. She texted me on Sunday saying would you like me to fix this block, the one I put upside down from Last years Liberty Box! I had that completed for months and was going to free motion quilt it as it was less than 30 inch square and never got around to it. How could I screw that up and not see it for months. 🤭 oh well, someone saw it and let me know about. Late night sewing sometimes is not the answer, ha ha ha ha ha. Stuff happens and then we move on to the next project. Yeah days off for Pat, enjoy!

I respect the layout and considered finishing mine the way you showed today. Buuutt, I had just enough sashing fabric to add sashing to the left and right so I did. To avoid it being square, I added a thicker top and bottom border. Proof I am totally OCD. I have known this for many many years. Borders aside, I love this quilt. It truly makes me smile, smile, smile. Thank you for all you share. ❤️🧵🪡✂️♥️

I thought that the scrappy inner borders would have been really cute, hope that you’ll still use it as the binding. It’s amazing to me how people will complain about something that takes so much time for you to design, document, make and film that’s completely free. “You’re the boss of your own quilt”- Lori Holt, if someone doesn’t like what’s (freely) given, there are a TON of other (completely FREE) layouts on your website from all of the other (COMPLETELY FREE) quilt-a-longs. Love you dearly, love starting my morning with you and a cut of coffee, and I hope the positive comments and sentiment from your community drown out the complainers.

Dear Pat, I loved the blue border you were going to use with what fabrics you had available. I was able to find more blue Frankie fabric so I ordered more to do the blue border, but with all one fabric. I got lucky and the Frankie yardage was on sale for only $7.49/yd. Of course, I will audition to see once I get that far along. I just finished block 9 and am about half way through with making block 8. I got behind because I was finishing up with Book Crew quilt. I've really enjoyed doing "Summer Camp" as well as having Kendall Taylor work along with you doing the instructional videos. He has been really helpful especially with tips and pressing instructions. I have many quilts to add the bindings so I'm going to set some goals to get going on them too. Thanks so much for all you do! Keep being you, Pat!

I love your giggle. Love that you 'keep it real'. I think with as many, many followers as you have, there probably are some whiners. Every family has them, too. People need to cultivate gratitude, especially when doing free patterns using your creativity and time. Just change what you don't like! Well, or trust in the process. I get individual blocks that I don't care for at first, but when they are all put together, usually, they play nicely. Just thanks for all you do, and enjoy those vacations days!

I'm like you - I tell myself it will be okay and then I drive myself crazy by always focusing on the one error. I feel like no matter how hard I try I still end up with that one thing in a quilt that my eyes are drawn to and it drives me crazy. I do love that Midnight Moon quilt with the fabric you've chosen. It's fantastic.

    Hi Pat,
Thank you for the inspiration! Your videos help keep me motivated. I was determined to finish the quilts that needed bindings in July. I was able to finish all but one. Dang! So close! I have my "to do" list right in front of me on my table. On the list, half shows the quilts I'm working on and the other half show the quilts that need binding. That list is very helpful and keeps me focused. Again, thank you. I got this idea from watching you every morning!!! Great inspiration!!!!!

I decided very early on with Summer Camp to do a simpler sashing mainly to do with the cuts of fabric I had. I am now going to do a HST border with the rest of my fabric and have LOVED my very first QAL. ( no quilt police, so we are allowed to change and adapt heh?) THANK YOU PAT X

I love everything you do. And you are right. Our quilts are our own. We can change what ever we want to in any pattern. People should not complain. They should just do what they want and not say anything. Please keep up your good work. I have learned a lot from watching your channel. Thank you so much.

I was on the fence about remaking the bat, but it looks amazing! I think the lighter one will fit the quilt much better! Nice!

Had to chuckle out loud at the great border debate, controversy, debacle. I live on one every single day! It’s exhausting!😂😂😂

I love watching because I always feel like as you are working on your projects I’m peeking in. I too wasn’t crazy about the blue sashing choice but, I was going to enjoying seeing how it’d come out… thinking I’d do the pink… love the orange/ red … but, mostly I like just seeing your work & choices as you go along. Usually I’m surprised that I end up loving what you choose. It all helps me make my own color/design choices and make the quilt I want to make. Sometimes I impress myself and sometimes I think hummm next time I’ll try something else… sometimes I do make changes and sometimes I’m over it and just finish it up and move on LOL 😂
