Six strands of floss were sometimes used on larger count cross stitch fabrics. Years ago, there was a 7 count and all six strands were needed to cover. There was also a 10 count that needed either four or six strands.

Decided on a lap size All My Stars which is too big for my design wall so I am doing about ten rows at a time. When I take a row down to sew I have used the “Alphabites” to label the squares so they don’t get out of order. I am also doing the stars row by row then I sew each row together.

For the lady that inquired about the 6 strands of floss, some people use that to tie quilts,
it can be used on the big count cross stitch like 7,10,11 count .I haven't tried it but those
are pretty big. Hope that helps! Love your patterns Pat and all the information you
    give us. Happy Sewing!

Tell Connie that I always wash and iron my finished quilts for Project Linus. I dry them in the dryer until they're almost dry and then iron them and leave them drapped over my ironing board overnight to make sure they are dry. I don't want to give a child or infant a quilt that is not clean and neatly pressed. I want them to look beautiful.

Hi Pat, who doesn’t love a polka dot, they’re so feminine and cute! I adore the idea of making a mini pillow block for your watch pillow, please show it when you’re done. Do you think the six strands of floss is to use like tapestry wool? The little forester fabrics are the sweetest.

I think your Oh My Stars can count as scrapalicious. I've been playing around with my layout, and I'm almost there. The tip for sewing the stars was very helpful. You could make seasonal covers for your little pillow to place in tiered tray.

Oh my polka dot, love them also, I have around 35 different small pieces in many colors. Also Tula Pink is a fan of polka dots, so she got me hooked on dots. I use them as a neutral and small dots as neutral backgrounds. I just bought a large aqua shiny dot to make one of her parisville quilts.

As I was watching you decide on the color of the stars, which is definitely how my thought process works, it hit me that there's no reason someone couldn't use different colors for the stars. I will most likely end up doing something like that because I need to use up some of my scraps

I learned to embroider using 6 strands of floss on burlap when I was a about 7 or 8 years old. Big eye and a not very sharp needle worked for the burlap. It didn't take long for me to progress to softer, more comfortable fabric to handle!

I have an Oh My Stars question. I have the centre done and fabric purchased to finish the quilt, but I think I’d like to make the border a little wider, so that the star continue to float and the points don’t reach the binding. I’m thinking of cutting the fabric at 4.5 inches for a 4 inch border. What do you think? Will that work?

I don't press, but I block my quilt before binding. I wet it, put it on covered pink insulation boards, use a laser lever and rulers and stainless steel T-pins. I square it up, block, and put fans on to dry it. I learned this from Margaret Solomon Gunn.

Do you thing the collecting of dots/stripes comes from the method of choosing fabrics that includes - busy/main print, small scale print, tonal print, geometric print, light print, & dark print?
I think this is also why the geometrics are included in fabric lines...
I work scrappy, so more often than not I am thinking, "do I have small scale? do I have plaid?" etc. when choosing or culling when I invariably have too many.
