Kindness is the path to happiness. Kindness is the metric of morality. Happiness is the metric for life.
Since I’ve been asked a lot: I will always advise, we buy stock in several companies that make products & services that *you* believe in. Only sell if you think their products & services are trending worse. Don’t panic when the market does. This will serve you well in the long-term.
My advice to new investors: Buy good companies stocks and hold them as long as they are good companies. Just do this and ignore the forecasts and market views which are at best entertaining but completely useless
what i think you need is a Financial Adviser, who can help you get in and out of any stock you buy at any time and you'd sure be in Profit

Just realized that Simon has the values of my husband.🎉and felt instantly grateful. we are so blessed that he found a way to communicate such messages powerfully to so many of us. It’s a reminder of our North Star. It’s a validation that our impact is not small at all.
To all of you that root for the people around you including yourself, I send light.😊
Simon. So true! I ordered a salad at Jack n the box drive thru and when I got to the window the rep said you do not need to pay for your food. I asked why and he said because the person in front of you paid for it . I said what?? I was still trying to pay and the rep had to tell me "ma'am its paid for". I could not believe it. It was one of the nicest things. I tried to find the car to thank him but he was already gone. This experience inspired me to do the same for someone else. Simon is right.....kindness is contagious
I once paid dinner for the person behind me, but that was at mc donalds.
Someone told me a story about doing something good for 3 persons, and they should do something good for 3 more and so on.
I strongly believe in this so i helped 2 more people without annything in return with something someone would normally not do.
I helped someone drive across 3countries.
and a homeless person up to the moment he could afford a home, and relatively healthy lifestyle.
william sands so sorry it’s seems you have missed the point. I refuse to allow those that take to stop me from being kind because I get more from my kindness than the cost and you never know if your act of kindness will change a harden heart

Isn’t it something like....I know someone who has a crush on a girl. He saw her behind him ordering a coffee. The man paid for the coffee of the girl behind him because he has a crush on her. Is that ok? Or is the man hoping for something in return?
Next time, pay for the one behind you ..and so on ..👍 This is the natural behavior for a Christian
Simon Sinek is a blessing to many. I achieved success after I practiced the steps below.
Y’all need to know this. A well-known podcast in the US taught me how the Rich don’t teach how to achieve success. They Seek the ideas of Fin. ConsuItants to help grow their finance.
He truly is
My problem is I’m trying to find a quiet place to listen to him and people are either in the way (not their fault) or they won’t stop interrupting 😢. It’s hard to even listen to it at my house.

Love how he says 'we can push "swing it back in the other direction" - it's that time now, creating a world where people care about people.
I love this! One of the things I miss about pre-COVID was the small interactions with strangers. I love holding the door open for folks, letting them go ahead of me in line when I can tell they are in a rush, or complimenting them in some way. Not trying to brag here or anything- I just truly miss it, it gave me energy and made me feel good, probably better than how it made the stranger feel.
There was a ripple effect...
I owe you when I became a head in pediatric department, at that time I missed a lot about leadership , but after listening to all your videos about that , really all my social communication have been changed , thank you Simon soooooo much , you are inspiring to many people , God bless you ⚘💞
Blessings on and for you both!!
While Simon was talking and I closed my eyes.. I all of a sudden remembered such a random but special moment. I had just lost my best friend and I was grieving her.
But as some of you may know.. Life doesn't stop it goes on. I had to finish my thesis and so I went to the library.. All brave, knowing I really had to focus and work on it.
However, after an hour you start remembering moments you studied together, and then you go look at photos... Before you know it, you are silently crying in the library. And in this world in which we live, I thought no one would see me, no one would care.
So this happen, a guy comes walking towards me and just puts a pack of M&M’s on my desk. He smiled and he walked away. Not expecting anything, nothing. I was too flabbergasted to even silently say ”thank you”. But he in that moment changed everything. It touched me in so many ways. And somewhat the pain I was feeling melted. And I led a tear of joy. He left the library and I never saw him again. Mindblown. Human kindness is magical.
Thank you for sharing your story ☺🙌🙏
Those words touched me to the core . Yes to many aspects of what you said . The act of random kindness in a single act delivers a greatness in itself , or ongoing kindness from a deep soul truly blows you away . So my thoughts go out to you , giving without expectation is best gift ever .
Thank you for sharing your story! I hope you are doing okay now
Amazing story!
I hope you meet that guy again in the future.
While often criticised for it, I must say that the willingness to sacrifice one's self for the good of another is a dignifying existence.
She was my 3rd grade school, took me under her wings from a bullied one to the best performer in my class. I still remember her name and always tell about her how her influence has refined me. I bow my head for her. ❤️
Absolutely YES, boosting confidence in others and supporting them this is what this life should be about. Recognition, support, kindness, trust, respect, care, be humble, be vulnerable and open, listening and giving a hand... this should be the message we pass every day to each other, to kinds, to seniors, to every single person. Thank you Simon for kicking people and waking us up
Your right but every person have different values on this kn like i more give trust and care forgot other things jk 😅 but others are i gave low value. But we live in world here everyone have their own desire and they work for that until end, we can't be always good and bad if we can just spread right thinking.
Excellent talk!
The part that struck me the most was when he said.. if someone is taking advantage of your kindness, you step back and say MY BAD.
And it occurred to me, you don't blame them. You read the room and adust.
He's right... I often feel insecure, especially during this pandemic. But I'm fortunate to have a friend who would hear me out and talk about it. It probably might not seem much to him but to me, he is a caring friend. So I managed to stand back up and stop feeling depressed.
So for anyone who feels insecure, I want you to believe in yourself. No matter what happens in life, you can pull through, you are capable. So never doubt yourself.
JuzWei - it is awesome you have a friend that is there for you. Your friend is a gift.
Saw this principle on display at work. Seeing changed individuals, once full of negativity and complaints, today positive, grateful and healthier. Results, significant productivity improvements. Thank you Simon. Agree 100%.
You articulate so effortlessly how I feel about empathy and how important it is. I'd almost started to think I was the only person who felt this way and what's worse thought maybe something was fundamentally wrong with me because of it. I'm always so disappointed by the way people treat each other but it really seems like it's sadly the norm. I'm always viewed as the leader who's too nice which unfortunately equates to weaknesses. I've learned it's absolutely the opposite. I have young women on my team who learned to trust their point of view, look for the good in others, treat every person as if you don't know what they may be going through.. So on and so on. We are not corporate favorites because it's hard for us the talk the talk. The important thing is that we actually walk the walk, which is ironically what "they" say they need from us but they have no idea how to or don't care to cultivate an environment that actually rewards or at minimum acknowledges this.
By the way, I love the examples of simple acts of kindness. It truly renews my faith in humanity. As small as it may seem I actually think that in those moments is when I see a true glimpse of what God's vision must have been for us. Love your insights and admire your work!
Thanks I needed to read this. This is the problem we need more people such as you. I don’t feel cared for at all it’s a real bummer. It’s not everyone at my work place most are nice but the ones who aren’t I don’t want to be around and it’s to the point I don’t even think I’m going to show up. I think I may quit which is sad because I’m the one who actually cares about the guests others just don’t. 🤷♀️😕
I've seen it a lot too

I am not a Doctor but even I get mad when I hear someone say "I want to be a Doctor to make a lot of money" thats a huge slap to all the Doctors who went through sometimes decades of training. I don't think you can be a doctor for only the money, you have to have a certain passion for helping people. Not everyone has that, atleast I know I don't. So thanks to all the Doctors.
@Ace J. 7 Million Where I live you need 6 years for basic medical training. Then another 6 years to become a surgeon. Then probably more training to keep up. So that's at least 12 years but probably more. Two decades isn't unrealistic.

I used work in Target and we used to do this, fill water bottle of each other, get food for each other. It was a great team.
Simon Sinek is a true Legend. He's the ideal role model many people look upto. Truly inspiring session.
social exchange theory explains reciprocity. Simon explains how to apply it with grace and out of good will and intentions. well done.
As being abused by both of my parent's I can clearly say that "bad job" isn't a real matter. My mom was a house wife and still abused me - no job relation, huh? My dad changed over 5 jobs untill I'm 18 and he was always mad, there always was a reason while he isn't satisfied with his life and he made a revenge on me. It's a persons trait, not the outside reasons (because they will always be).
When I had hard times at my job I had never made a revenge on my relatives or friends, because I understand that my problems are always mine and no one's fault but my.
Gosh , so nice to hear someone say it out so loud . This has been my way of living for years. At work , home & out there. 😇💖

Simon Sinek! I follow your work closely, ever since that first TED talk on WHY, and I've benefited SO SO SO much over the years!
And this talk is absolutely THE ONE that I needed just now!
Puts everything in place - in my head! It feels like this giant jigsaw puzzle in my head finally has all its parts in place! I've always been that person to help the guy with the papers he dropped, and people have always said to me, oh, you are too good, people are taking advantage of you! But it never felt like that for me! I always knew better - because my grandparents and my parents were just like the people you describe: giving without EVER expecting anything in return. Helping whenever they could, simply because they could! However, this talk cleared for me other aspects of it all, and for this I am forever grateful! So much stuff to pass on to my grandkids

Simon, it's like you are describing my current employer! And after my previous nightmare job (generally a perfect fit for your worst case scenarios), I am striving to enable and lift the guy that works for me. Congratulations on helping me to appreciate how great I have it now, and how lucky I am in general with regards to my work.
High school had no such moments for me, but once I got a job my supervisor was one of the greatest mentors and man ive ever had the honor of knowing. Alot of who I am was forged in those years.
Everytime I start listening to him I had to shut down and disable my entire belief system for the 20 minutes, for the sole purpose of understanding his incredible mindset,
That’s a great way to see it! It’s amazing how the whole core point of this universe is built around friendship and on giving one’s self up for another and not expecting to receive anything in return, aka friendship. That helps me rationalize that if the whole point of the universe is centered around that one idea, that a creator of the universe might have been the first to show us such an example of friendship. When the Creator came down here to earth in the form of Jesus and laid his life down on the brutal horrible cross so that there would be a way out for us so we don’t have to bear the penalty of our sins for eternity in hell, it was the strongest example of friendship in eternity. I don’t think I have any friends that would ever do that for me. It’s hard for me to rationalize that we would have a conscience and a built-in moral code of right and wrong that even animals do not have if perhaps a creator did not put it in our minds from the beginning of time when he created us. We can all understand what a sin is without anyone telling us what’s right or wrong. If we are breaking the law of friendship and harming someone else or ourselves and we can, through our conscience, understand that it’s a sin. And there must be consequences for those sins, or why would we feel bad and morally wrong when we commit them? Just like there’s jail down here on earth there must be some sort of eternal punishment for those sins which can be pretty horrific that man has committed against each other. If there are consequences down here on earth there must be consequences after we have finished up the work of our life. Through our sins we deserve hell but only one took all of our sins upon himself, and paid the price of hell for us on the cross. God himself in true friendship came down to us through Jesus to pay the price for our sins. What a loving example of friendship for all of us to understand. This is all laid out beautifully in the Bible, A perfect study guide on how to be a true friend. Our creator is at the heart of friendship🙂

Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming.
Talking about opportunities investing in crypto currency now should be in every wise individuals list. In two to three years time you might be estactic with the decision made today

LOL. Unless that “civilian” is a mom. We do it every day, without pay, often without thanks. Definitely without expecting our children to have our backs....at least until they’re grown.
I cried so hard during the part about the teacher because mine had passed away from cancer at young age and had a little baby girl. I still cry every time I think about her😢😢😢 we had such an amazing relationship and she was the nicest person I knew. RIP my darling
At my job in the Food Industry I'm fairly low on the totem pole, however I've been there long enough that others around me are beginning to consider me competent in what I do and are going to me to pass on what knowledge I have of my job to other. For the longest time I've considered one of our newer workers incompetent and lazy and always on their phone. This lecture was hugely eye-opening and gives me a new perspective on my relationships with others around me.
Team building and empathy goes a long way. A feeling of appreciation is even better! 💕 The only job I've ever had and felt truly appreciated was the Army because I knew that whether I needed to talk or play or risk my life...someone always had my back! He speaks the Truth! ✌️💕🤟

You gave words to what I was feeling inside about relationships, trust and bonding. True relationships last a lifetime and are not built on shallow foundation of short-term gains. You have to invest your precious time and energy to build it brick by brick. It requires a lot of selflessness & team-spirit for one to achieve that nirvana state of mind. Thank you.

AWESOME STUFF. Why are our schools not teaching this stuff to our children? This is how we build a better world. Doing good for others is simple stuff. Let us make a better world by living just this - doing something for others. Well done. Excellent presentation.
Teachers teach this and provide opportunities for this all the time. Extracurriculars have this. But school can only do so much. Ones own family and peer group can reinforce or splinter these ideas.

Thank you Simon for this! I was given many management duties while my boss is on leave, and I felt like I had no idea how to be a good leader at work. My boss actually is the one who inspired me to even be willing to try to lead, he uses these principles all the time. I've used them in my life but never understood how to apply them properly in a work situation. Passing kindness on is an integral part of happiness, for me at least. And I had never thought of the job of management as bringing out the best in people before I worked with my current manager, I always thought it meant just getting people to do their work and coaching them if needed. And I hadn't thought of putting people in situations where they could fail as being positive until I heard your reasons. I believe this will help me become a better leader, even if it is a temporary position for me the skills apply at any level.
Absolutely

I looked at her bemused and said why, she replied you struggling and I know you, you live in the area and I always see you with your two kids. She added you always say Hi to most people and speak to people in the area. I replied I do but I do not know you and I am in a vulnerable position there. She replied do not worry you spoke to me before you just do not remember but you help me and I want to help you. I replied ok, she drove me home and put my shopping in my house for me in my kitchen and them left. I said thank you very much lady much appreciated, she replied it ok no worries. The first few minutes of his speech are the exact reasons why I left healthcare and joined healthcare IT. I felt like no one actually cared about the clients and it's primarily because the hospitals don't care about the staff. I switched to IT because I'm treated well and I know I'm helping the patients indirectly.
I so love this guy - he has such great ideas, and solutions. Everyone should be checking out these talks.
Brilliant!!! The more I listen to Simon, it is as if he is pulling me out of the fog I've been in that is corporate america. Not sure if I'd call it a "philosophy" since he backs everything up with facts and science.
The crazy thing is that I see Simon's ideas as so spot on and impactful that everyone would want to learn and embrace. However, when I show his videos to some of my staff, they aren't affected in the same way. I don't see how this can be. But, it sure is a clear sign that we don't hold the same core values.
I see a great challenge to be uncovering your own purpose that is succinct enough to apply to your personal life and at work. Life changing insights. Thanks Simon!!!

Hey guys! I know this video is old, but I'd like to share something. At 15:48, Simon starts a reflection on "that one teacher who took you under their wing" and "helped you realize that you are capable or more than you thought you were". In 2021, I sent this to my English teacher from 2005 back in my home town. He was going through a lot and his mental health was not in good shape. I didn't know this since I unfortunately hadn't talked to him in decades. A day later I receive a message from a close friend telling me he is friends with my old teacher and that he couldn't stop crying. He told me he felt he was worth something again. I'll never in my life forget this video's advince as to what really is the responsability of a manager, which I have turned into today (as in it really is today).
Saw Simon on the subway in October coming back from dinner, really nice dude.
I came down with G.E.R.D. from my last job. I didn't go back after the pandemic and am now self-employed. Stomach is 95% healed!!!! :)
Thank you so much Simon for your life advice and wisdom. I will not only learn them for myself but definitely will pass on to my children as well!!!
Simon….you are an inspiring speaker. I, too, am a public speaker. You have a communication crutch that is not necessary. You often finish a thought/sentence with the word “right!” It is like you are asking the audience to confirm what you already know. It is not necessary! I hope this is helpful!

Well, I guess no one at my previous job trusted anyone in the building. NO ONE did anything extra for anyone else. No. One. I came along and attempted to change the culture with simple acts of kindness and I got let go with little explanation 🤷🏼♀️
wow...goodness never rots..listening this in 2020 and feels fresh...Just hit on a quote that good intentions will always meet good intentions
There's a market place nearby the metro station I live next to and every time I come down to the metro and see elderly women carry their heavy wheeled bags with groceries down the stairs, I come up to them and take their bags downstairs. I must admit, it gives me a lot of saticfaction.
That's the blessing you get...you feel good for doing what is the right thing!!
Finally, I found a human being who truly cares about others. I hope we will work together someday for the same vision.
We will get there, its got to happen!
Simon Sinek is very articulate and helpful to explain fulfillment!
I thought this was 4 minutes long. Stayed here for the entire 40. Highly appreciated.
Words cannot explain what I feel after hearing every word of Simon's speech.
I love how Simon sees through everything to the kernel of truth that ends up defining us as humans. @simonsinek Thankyou for shining a light on work dynamics.
wow very thought provoking. to be an encourager... allow them to fail then help them achieve. doing something nice...
The email example at approximately 26:00 is also addressed by Chris Voss in negotiations. Put the ask first. The niceties last. As he says, the last impression is the lasting impression.
Simon you have the real power to make us realise our strength and really inspires to do good always ...You are simply amazing
I only look up to two men in my life. My father and this man
I wish you could also include me in your list. together we could make this world a better place.
EFFORT - Going out for others ( thoughtfulness) this is absolutely Helpful. Thank you for this talk.
Another awesome video from Simon, an incredible man of faith, courage, and morality. He does the right thing and tells it like it is.
This guy is a solid genius. A goliath public speaker. This talk made me go through all the emotions. We should absolutely refuse to work the way we do and accept emotional abuse day in and day out. Simon Sinek has *all* of the priorities straight and is an incredibly charismatic and passionate guy. I am so grateful that he is well-known and that we get to listen to powerful reminders such as this for free. Thank you Simon!

he help me out
Wow! What an amazing motivation. So, if we are not willing to help others, we should look within ourselves. Do we have any insecurities? Thank you so much Simon for this. I still remember my high school teacher who gave me confidence even today. So, what you said, really make sense. Just yesterday I complained about helping others. But this video changed my perspective. Thank you so much.

I was thinking about these things today and this video came up. Crazy in the best possible way! feeling that you're not the only one thinking a certain way is what you need to make your day and week and it's what you crave the most when you feel the world is going in the opposite direction you have set in your head.
Wow! Beautiful words of wisdom. Love it. Thank you Lord.
Simon's best video ever. Absolutely, all problems are rooted in the culture. From metrics at work to media at home, it's all dystopian. Marines are a great example, thought Simon has it dead wrong as to why they go into battle. It is for love of country, sir. The buddy issue is just one organizational benefit, and phenomenon. Remember, too, that our military is uniquely filled with such will and camaraderie. Russia, as a prime example, is filled with unwilling soldiers. They shoot themselves to get out of war. I would ignore Simon's miss there, as this is pure gold.
I really want to thank you for all this important information about leadership, I work as a Executive HSK, and I enjoy everything I have see so far. Great job 👍🏼
16:16 Yes, I'm the one who I'm now, mainly because of my high school teacher Orynsha Seitovna. May God bless her.
