Solution, (not in this with failed components) but I had a PS3 stuck on av out or stuck on wrong hdmi settings that the TV couldn't detect when they first came out. To reset back to hdmi settings without seeing the screen you press and hold power button till it does 3 cycles (I think) and the screen comes back on to the hdmi settings menu

My Wii U had ut too but worse, it cant even properly output HD over component.
